Americanized taco experience. The hardshell tacos were thin, so not a lot of filling can fit in. The queso taste like melted velvetta cheese - a pet peeve of mine. Queso should always deliver. Ate there today, we ordered queso with ground beef, and a small guacamole to add to our dip to make it compuestas. Service was spectacular, aside from the dark headed bartend-ress, who keep shooting evil eyes at our server...if looks could kill!!! Our server who was great btw, would have a burning hole gaping out of her back, let's say, not professional at all honey. You need to have on your sweet pokerface on in front of the guests at all times. Save the killing for behind the scenes, later.... Margaritas, Cap'n n Coke, happy campers we were. If I could give less than 1 star, I would. Absolute worst experience I've had in a long time. I understand being short staffed and things may take a little longer, but blatantly being ignored is something different. The outside serving staff were rude and unhelpful, but finally did bring me a cold bowl of queso, 30 minutes after ordering it. My initial waitress never came back or made eye contact after a first drink order but I did see her constantly around two other tables, refilling drinks, making small talk, getting them food, etc. My kids never got drinks; I never got a refill on my drink. The waitress ignored our table for almost an hour with the exception of the initial drink order that was never filled. I know this for fact because when I got up looking for somebody to take our order and finally found another waitress, I told her "I've been waiting for almost an hour and would like to place an order" the waitress came back a short time later with a condescending tone and said "You've been here an hour? You only put your drink order in 30 min ago, I checked". That may be true but I sat there for a little bit waiting to get that initial drink order in. So, I waited at least 45 minutes then with only a drink order/appetizer being placed that was only half filled... I stand corrected! The only reason I stayed that long was because my kids were on the side playing but we finally had to leave since they had no intention of bringing me food and was NOW there over an hour and still hungry. I wouldn't be so angry but this is now the second time I've been here and both times the service was absolutely horrible. I don't come on this platform to complain, and most of my reviews are good to support local businesses, but last night's service was just appalling...and it wasn't the first time for me. But, it will be my last. As another reviewer said, I've also tried to like this place because it's close and convenient but that was the last time I'll try. The food may be great but I can't comment on that as I didn't have an opportunity to find out. I wanted to like this place it looked cute and walking distance from my house . Felt very unwelcoming, came in with 2 kids and 3 adults. Sat on the patio ordered Mexican martinis and queso. Martinis were horrible tasted like too much jalapeño juice, And when I asked a person for chips he asked if we paid for them. If you order delivery it' might be worth while, but pickup orders don't receive priority. 4 tacos and an order of queso is a 30 minute wait. After arriving to the restaurant to pick up the order they apologize and tell me it'll be at least another 25 minutes minutes. That was accurate and it was a 55 minute wait for the small order. Once home it was disappointing to find the portion size was smaller than previous orders. The portion size was tiny for a $3.75 shredded chicken taco. The BLT taco was even smaller. What can I say but "eh". The drink menu is extensive and the cocktail I had (Leclair bear) was good but everything else was just "eh". Tiny bowl of queso with ground beef was $9 and just "eh". Tacos are $3-5 each and only "eh". Their "bean dip" is just warm pintos and cheese - honestly Taco Bell does them better. Everything was ice cold like it had been refrigerated before picked up and delivered barely 2 miles away. Not even luke warm, but straight up tasted like it was just taken from the refrigerator and sold. Quesadilla somehow smaller and more expensive than the taco I ordered. Beware- NONE of the staff / waitresses etc wear masks. It's like there was no pandemic. People sitting right on top of each other (literally a woman was sitting at a stool touching my chair- that hasn't happened even pre-COVID. It was kind of shocking when we walked in. They had no "contactless" options - handed us reusable menus, didn't wipe them down afterwards. Have your opinions about COVID, but we all should have learned *something* and as of April 2021, it's not over yet. I'm a nurse and am truly appalled at this business in the area I live in. The food was quick to come out but honestly, it's sucked. There are WAY better options for tacos and queso in this area. They changed their chips (now they are ho-hum... clearly bagged and not the friend, Parmesan dusted), their jalapeño ranch dressing changed... more like ranch and not jalapeño. Food: Good. Yummy tacos, tasty salsas, very impressive menu. Service: Huge thumbs down. Things were forgotten, drinks were overpriced. Margarita on the rocks is super tiny, and my better half was told that the old fashions were 7 bucks but when we got the bill was charged 11 bucks. Also they charge if you want guacamole on your taco and chips and salsa isn't free either. Stopped at Guaco Taco to try for the first time. Ordered 3 vegetarian tacos. Had them substitute the cheese and the sour cream for some guac. However, interestingly, was charged EXTRA $ for the guac! I've been here for lunch and dinner a couple of times. Our favorite times have been when Beth was our server. She is extremely friendly and knowledgeable. My boyfriend ordered the margarita flight which was reasonably priced and were all pretty tasty. I think they make all their fruit purées from scratch. All of the sauces are really good so definitely take the time to try them all. I usually get the shrimp tacos. They have a great flavor even without sauce. I like that they give you a cup of non-dairy ice cream. I love to add the strawberry purée. Make sure to ask about their rewards program. This place gets pretty busy on a Friday night so just prepare for that when coming here on a Friday. read more

I can't recall having left a sad review for a restaurant, but I felt the need to do so today. This is our third visit to Guaco Taco Leander but the first time my husband and I stayed for dinner. During our previous, second visit we had only stayed long enough for the nachos. Although the restaurant was practically empty, it took over an hour to get our nachos. It was forgettable. Tonight I ordered a shrimp taco and a "grilled" fish taco with soft tortilla shells. My husband ordered two shrimp tacos with the Mexican gumbo. I received one shrimp taco. My husband received two shrimp tacos and a "fried" fish taco. The gumbo was so watery, and the fish taco was dry and tasted like the frozen breaded fish you get from HEB. To top off the evening, I ordered an old-fashioned with rye whiskey. It was the murkiest drink, sweetest I've ever seen. It's an original alcoholic beverage. How anyone can mess up an old-fashioned is beyond me. I tried to salvage it by scooping out all the muddled orange pulp. It didn't help. My husband and I love supporting local businesses. I'm sorry Guaco; maybe it's just us, or you need to hire a new staff and use fresher ingredients. read more

This place is my new obsession! Sunday all day happy hour on food and drinks, yes please! We ordered a total of six tacos and had a really yummy cocktail. I wish I could put zero stars. We just moved into the area so we wanted to try out a local spot. We down and waited 5 mins for a drink order, because it was our first time there we were excited to try this place out. Which was fine they were a little bit busy. We wanted to come for lunch and only had an hr. Our waiter was split into two sections and going back and worth which was weird. She came back with our drinks and I wanted to get our lunch order in but she said that she will come right back because she was busy with other customers. WE WAITED 20 mins!!! Multiple people came into the restaurant and was able to order their food and get their food before our waiter came back!!!!! We had to leave and told the waiter how we were unhappy that she never came back for our order and that other people were sat down and served. HER answer was that the food will take two mins. If she was truthful and just said she forgot about us, I would have came back. But at that point we just went across the street to Randalls for lunch. read more
