In addition, the counter staff that handles the billing at Durand Mobil is primarily women. Tom has been very honest with me about work that he recommends I do immediately and work that I'm able to wait until it fits into my budget better. The rates are very good compared to a dealer and for a qualified shop such as this, that is what you should compare to, not to a shade tree mechanic. They are AWESOME about giving me a ride to and from my workplace or picking up vehicles to minimize customers time off from work for auto repairs. That is huge for me. It's one thing to budget for the repair and another to also add in the lost wages for sitting around at a shop. I have never felt like the staff here was anything but honest with me. I would recommend this shop to anyone in the area. Tom & his staff will take care of your vehicle and get you on the road as quickly as possible.

And with a great central location it makes it nice and easy to get here to get work done. Anyway when I came into this repair shop it was clean and friendly. The guy at the desk told me upfront what I needed and even told me of other repairs the Honda dealer failed to inform me of, and showed me why I needed the repairs. I also needed a new windshield. Again, lovely Michigan weather had ruined our cars. The guy at the desk suggested I repair my windshield at Fenton Glass down the street, and even offered to drive my car down there after the repair is complete. How thoughtful!!! When I dropped my baby, uh I mean Honda, i was very worried of added expenses and surprises and even informed the guy my passenger side mirror is loose and to be careful. Around 1:00pm, THE SAME DAY!!, I recieved a call my Honda was all fixed and ready! WOW!!!! That was quick! So I went to pick up my car. When I arrived, there were no surprise fees, in fact my repairs were about $40 bucks cheaper then the estimate! I was also informed that they fixed my mirror from being loose-no charge! I was just told that's just how they work, with no option to decline it. Their pricing is a lot of smoke and mirrors - I asked for their standard hourly labor rate and they said they don't have one. Well, that makes it difficult to compare their labor costs with other shops. There also appears to be a steep markup on parts, perhaps as much as 100% more than what you would pay for the same exact aftermarket parts at retail. The work done was generally satisfactory, (although they used a 23-bolt oil pan instead of the correct 22-bolt part) but their prices are HIGH. And that $85 mandatory inspection resulted in them recommending almost $3,600 in additional services, including every snake oil fluid service known to man. It's almost as bad as going to Jiffy Lube.
