Bought a used car here roughly 20 months ago. It is still running very well. The price was extremely fair. They allowed me to take it to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed work that needed completion, but the cost was already marked off the blue book value. As many have noted, Ryan was the salesmen, and he was great. It did take FOREVER to get out the door, but that is often the case. I have no quarrels with them and will likely go back. read more

Buying a used vehicle there is a roll of the dice, I happened to get one with warped front brake rotors, and pads placed over rusted rotors, basically the most minimum hack repairs just to get it out the door, I sent an email explaining how dissatisfied I was, no response, said they never got it even though I showed the "service manager" the sent email. So then they make this out to be my fault that I paid another shop to fix all the issues that it had, they said I should've brought it to them, it was a holiday weekend and I wanted my car safe now not whenever they decide they can get it in. Were they going to fix it all for free? Of course not. It would've been my fault. The service manager was about as helpful and courteous as the desk he was sitting behind. Decided to explain that mechanic shops just want your money and these items didn't need work, well what do dealerships want? Your money- and this particular one will just patch it together to sell, rather than do some quality repairs and charge a little more for the car. I'll never give one cent again to Bowman Chevrolet, I'd recommend going literally anywhere else if you're looking for a used car. Buy it out of someone's driveway, you'll do better than giving these hacks any of your hard earned money. read more

I had a horrible experience here and would never reccommend anyone to step foot in the door. It started when the customer service people set me an appointment when they should not have. I knew we had a late appointment, but they did schedule it. We were extremley rushed. We couldn't even drive the vehical we came to test drive off the lot! There was something wrong with a sensor and continuously beeped, and the elevtric in the car didn't work. Not to mention the sliding door door was broken with no mention of that online. When we couldn't drive the car off the lot, our " Sales guy pretty much said sorry, you have to leave. They're locking us out at 6. (Why would anyone schedule an appointment at 5:45 pm if they were going to literally kick us out at 6?). We would not get any details on anything until Monday. This man had no reguard for our time they had wasted. I don't have time to burn like that. We went to Suburban Toyota of Troy the next day (Saturday) and was able to get in to a new vehicle within hours! read more

Recently accompanied my son here to look at a car he was interested in. He had an appt. lined up w/a sales rep, Joe Shepherd. Joe had the car waiting, cleaned and ready for a test drive. Joe struck me as very down to earth and straight-forward. Comparing notes later, both my son and I said we liked him and would both do business w/Joe again, no problem. But... we also had to deal with the Sales Mgr/F&I Mgr, Steve (Chumbler?). ...long story short; neither my son nor I would ever do business w/Stevo again. (Interesting in that my son who's never dealt w/any car dealers before and I - who's crossed paths w/a few (hundred) over the years in my job both came to the same (very negative) conclusion about this guy. Just a few observations... he insulted his salesman in front of us. (It's kinda basic Leadership 101; never insult/chastise an employee in front of customers, colleagues, or family; really anybody. Praise in public; criticize in private). Then he made some patronizing comments during the price discussion, and then again an hour later as he was putting the hard sell on for their no-name, overpriced extended service plan he got snarky when I called him out on his, "it's FEDERAL Law you have to sign this waiver revoking your right to an extended warranty" malarkey, and again when my son turned him down. (If I'd been there buying for myself (rather than just being a wing-man) I'd of likely walked out at several different points.) *** From the moment we agreed on the price - meaning all we had to do was wrap up the paperwork - it took THREE HOURS! *** Note - this was the middle of a weekday; there were two other customers there the entire time we were there. They were not busy at all and yet they kept us cooling our heels for THREE hours. I will go to my grave convinced Stevo ordered the back office to slow-walk the paperwork as punishment for us not succumbing to his wily charms and no-name service contract. (On the plus side, that's all he tried to sell my son; I was expecting pitches for 2 or 3 more things from the typical F&I bag of tricks; accident & health insurance, VIN-etching, fabric protector, etc., so we should count our blessings I suppose.) BOTTOM LINE - if you do buy a car here: 1--Ask for Joe; he's a good guy. 2--Bring a book; you're going to be there all day. 3--Be prepared for the snarky hard-sell on the no-name (non OEM) over-priced ($2,400 in our case) extended warranty from the too-slick-for-his-own-good commissioned Finance Mgr. 4--And always remember, the F&I Mgr is on commission too; not just the salesperson. read more

The dealership was very clean, friendly, and stocked with a large inventory of cars that were not over priced. The lady said it usually takes one week ,she would call us as soon as it was done .7 days later I call and it is out for a test drive ,I asked why wasn't I called ? I WOULDN'T EVER PURCHASE A CAR FROM BOWMAN AUTO CENTER. NOR ANY OF HIS OTHER DEALERSHIPS HE OWNS. I HOPE THAT PEOPLE TAKE THE TIME TO RETHINK WHERE THEY DECIDE TO PURCHASE THEIR NEXT NEW OR USE VEHICLES. My son and I made an appointment with Carl this past Saturday to see a used vehicle on their lot. This vehicle was NOT ready for us to see, but we were still able to see through the dirt and scuffed paint. This truck had seen better days and had not been cleaned or prepped yet. Still had all the dirt from this fleet owned, previous owner (Company owned). After driving it anyway, my Son decided that he wanted this truck. We called on Monday morning and asked if the truck was sold yet? Carl told me no. I spoke with the sales manager and came up with a fair price we both agreed on. We spoke briefly about financing. This would be my sons FIRST truck and he had saved his pennies and would be paying cash. We even spoke about license plates (transfer or new) issues. I then spoke with the salesman again and asked for a document of the price break down. I also provided to the salesmen IN WRITING that my son will take it. YOU GUEST IT. They sold the truck from underneath him at some point that night. At some point between 5:40 PM and the time they closed that night. They sold the truck to someone else. Meanwhile I'm deciding when to go to the bank for the CASH, called the insurance company, and take time off work to help my son pick up this truck (well we thought). Not until the next morning when I called to discuss the details, they decided to tell me they sold the truck to someone else. They didn't even have the common courtesy to Call or TXT my Son or me. My experience at the dealer was good; very nice people. However, I got 4 hard checks on my credit report while they searched for financing. All of the staff told me, 'You are allowed 5 in a given period when you buy a car,' but 4 months later, those 4 hard checks are still on my report and my report is lower because of them. I have bought several cars and this has never happened before. I hope they reconsider their financing practices; I shouldn't have to write a letter of explanation to all 3 credit bureaus for a common life transaction. 1 hard check is understandable but 4 is not acceptable. read more

The salesman Joe Shepherd was pleasant and straightforward, very easy to work with. No problem there. The issue is that I think this place knowingly sold me a vehicle with significant engine problems. Bought a '02 Buick Regal from them in March and it seemed to run fine but within a couple days we noticed what sounded like debris in the upper intake. After that, the car began to randomly sputter and act like it wanted to shut off. Eventually, it did. It got to where it wouldn't even turn over. We pulled the spark plugs and found that they were so fouled with oil that they wouldn't fire. We put new plugs in it, at which point the car fired up and drove again. We parked it for one day and then it was back to not starting up. Battery was fine. We could hear the starter trying to turn over. Took it to a mechanic we know and come to find out the engine had completely seized-up. They couldn't even turn it over with a breaker bar on the flywheel bolt. The engine was also severely over-filled with oil (and Bowman did an oil change on it before selling it to me) and we suspect this was done purposefully to cover up the fact that there is probably a rod knock. Car is basically junk now and I'm stuck with it, no thanks to this place. I take some of the blame in that I should have brought it to my own mechanic before purchasing it (lesson learned there). My mechanic said that no reputable and honorable mechanic or dealership should've let this car pass inspection. Shame on Bowman because I really thought they were better than this. Probably not ever going back and would advise others to be very wary of them. Inspect everything closely. Bring your own mechanic if you don't have significant knowledge of cars before buying from them. Also, whoever detailed the car before handing it over to me did a very poor job. read more

They told me everything except what was really wrong and it was not covered on my warranty. I took my car to another place and they fixed my car and the problem was covered under my warranty. read more

Linda was able to make the experience comfortable and easy to follow with, while keeping my company during the waiting and paperwork process.
