We were tortured by gophers ruining our garden both front and back until Matt came. He has been excellent at trapping the gophers for us.

I had what I thought was 1 raccoon terrorizing my new lawn and reached out to Matt. I'm very glad that I did, as he is so knowledgeable and responsive. He came by as frequently as needed to reset the trap, bait the trap, and check the cameras. We all patiently waited about a month and ended up catching 2 raccoons that were coming through our yard. Matt's rates are very reasonable and he only charges once the service requested is completed. I highly recommend Matt! read more

We have dealt with nighttime raccoon damage to our lawn and garden (off and on ) for several years. Thus, we have called upon Matt at Ground Control on several occasions. He responds promptly to service requests. He surveys the property and provides an assessment of which critters are causing the damage, i.e., moles, gophers, raccoons, etc. In our case, his video cameras recorded the number of raccoons on the property and the time(s) of their appearance. He has successfully trapped perhaps a half dozen raccoons that were digging up our lawn and garden in search of grubs. Matt's rates are reasonable, and he charges only for each critter he removes. Recommended. read more

Matt knows the ins and outs of gophers and moles - he is very responsive and quite efficient in catching the critters while being very professional and friendly at the same time - he is easy to talk to and gives good advice about the world according to gophers - he will not quit until the job is done / His fees are reasonable and does not charge unless he catches the varmints - plus we shared some interests in common which made the experience even more pleasant - paraphrasing the David Bowie song "ground control calling major Matt" ! read more

Excellent service and excellent results! Highly recommend Matt for stubborn moles and gophers. Thank you Matt, you saved my garden!

I can recommend Matt at Ground Control for his friendly service, responsiveness, effectiveness, and good value.

This guy is amazing. Came out to help me with some moles, caught a gopher I was having an issue with and 2 moles!!! I'm decent at catching gophers but moles are expert level. He's the guy! Super responsive, kind, helpful and amazing at what he does. read more

Fast, effective, friendly, great communicator, and reasonably priced. Will definitely use Matt again.

Matt is very responsive and helpful. He was quick to come to our house and set a few traps

We've had a bad gopher problem for a couple of years, but I just wasn't up for paying a monthly fee for a gopher service, which is what most want. Matt of Ground Control, who charges per critter caught, was highly recommended by a neighbor on Nextdoor so I decided to give him a call. He's a very nice guy, easy to work with, knowledgeable and he charges you per critter that he catches, so you definitely get your $$ worth. I highly recommend Matt if you're having issues with gophers or other critters eating your garden plants and flowers! read more

This is the best deal in pest control bar none. You contact Matt, he gets back to you within hours. Within a day or so he has traps buried where he thinks they'll do the most good. Within a week he's pulling gophers out of traps. He comes back until there's no gopher activity. You pay $100 flat fee per gopher. No contracts, no long term obligations. Just a guy who vanishes your gophers. New gophers move in? You just call him up. Awesome deal. read more

Fantastic work. Gets the rodent every time. He always has a smile and is happy to share his expertise. He explained to my curious 4 year old what a pocket gopher is and why they are called that. read more

Best gopher hit man out there! Charges by the gopher. That's right- hit man. Got my subterranean demons, and now peace is restored to my yard once again. I highly recommend. read more

Ground Control is great! Super responsive and does a great job keeping our gophers away

Highly highly highly recommend Matt. We have had incessant gopher issues across approximately 1 - 1.5 acres over a couple of years. I tried dealing with it myself with Gopher Hawks but was not successful. I contacted Matt and he was responsive and super effective. He made three or four trips out over the course of two weeks and trapped 10 gophers. He is super communicative and provides an incredible service. His success based pricing model makes it easy to say yes. Thanks Matt!!! read more

Matt was great to work with, very responsive and quick to get back to me and was able to quickly come check out the issue we were dealing with in our yard. He immediately knew from seeing the mounds of dirt in our yard that we had a mole and he set a few traps underground and came back the following week and sure enough he caught a mole that was doing A LOT of damage quickly. We only had to pay if he caught anything which is pretty awesome. He not only really knew what he was talking about, he was very professional and arrived at the time he promised. As I told him, I hope we don't have to see him again but if we have any more issues in the future he is the first call I'll be making. Thanks Matt! read more

For the first time in decades of living at this house, I had a gopher problem. The holes were multiplying and spreading, right under a new and expensive succulent garden. I called Matt and he came over the next day. He was personable and professional. I was worried about the "per gopher" price because it looked like a whole family was tearing up the place; but he estimated that there would be only one, and he was right. Within two days, he came and removed the trap and my problem. I'm so relieved not to see more holes appearing every day. Well worth it if you are trying to protect your landscape. read more

Matt came by yesterday to initiate gopher removal and although the job is not yet done, I feel the utmost confidence in his work. From our first interaction his attitude differed from larger extermination companies in that he only charges after a successful removal. "Make me work for it" whereas other companies charge more with no guarantee. He also is one of the few who will even attempt to control subterranean pests. He's pleasant, professional and prompt. I look forward to his next visit and would unreservedly recommend him to anyone seeking help eliminating this most intransigent of pests. read more

Matt is totally awesome! He came by when he said he would, set up the traps, and a few days later my mole problem was gone! So easy. And I love the payment structure....you pay when the mole is caught and the problem is solved! What's not to like?! 5 stars for Matt. read more

Matt is my hero. If you have gopher troubles, look no further; he's your man. Competent, reliable and, best of all, effective! No poison, and all traps are buried and kid/pet safe. He doesn't charge unless/until he catches something. My gophers are GONE and my garden is thriving. Thanks, Matt. read more

Matt is great and pays per dead gopher. No baseline fees like other services, just if he's successful, you pay him. He's your gopher hit man. He also likes dogs and is kind to toddlers who want to tell him stories about the gophers in the yard. read more

Matt is the animal terminator. But not the T-800, definitely more like the T-1000. For those who don't understand the reference, it means Matt is the best animal control expert we've ever interacted with. Plus the cost structure is hard to beat. You pay him when he kills. Last but certainly not least, he's also just a really nice guy and dog friendly. Hire him, you won't regret it. read more

Thanks for the excellent fast work! I'm so happy I chose you over the competition ! I finally have my yard back. I called 3 other companies and got quotes and had long conversations about how the gophers would be removed, the process being used, quality control etc. From the first contact with Matt the owner he let me know that first he charged by the animal caught and at first I was like huh but then it made total sense. All of the companies I called wanted money upfront with no guarantee of actual effectiveness as in actual critter caught so I could have literally been paying for nothing. I wasn't asking for guarantee of gophers NOT returning just in exchange for this $395 ( another company quoted me in addition to a $171 a month for 6 months contract ) just did you actually catch any at all . His business practice was to come out assess the scene, and charge when he actually caught something. Go with this option guys! You could otherwise be paying for absolutely nothing. He caught two gophers in under 7 days! It was like opening presents at Christmas! So if they ever return I know exactly who to call. read more

Matt was great! I have had mole issues for well over a year which is distressing because I feel my lawn and landscaping are so beautiful. To get rid of the mole we've tried sonic stakes, traps, poison, you name it. I finally decided to replace the whole lawn, which isn't all that large, since the mole living there had pretty much destroyed it. Before I sunk a thousand bucks into replacing the lawn I decided to check Yelp to see if there was someone who specializes in gopher/mole removal and, lo and behold, I found Matt. He came out and put flags up on the lawn where he set his traps. He came back a few days later and removed the mole! As others have stated Matt charges by the the critter caught which I was happy to pay. Very cost-effective. Plus, Matt is a really nice guy. If you have critter problems I highly recommend Matt to get rid of them! read more

Matt is a rock solid guy, gets it down and does what he says when he says it will get done.

Highly recommend Matt. He speaks gopher! Our whole neighborhood is infested with gophers and I was really scared they were going to destroy my newly landscaped yard. He was very responsive and effective and has put my mind at ease that he is around if and when I need him in the future. Super nice guy too! read more

Matt was very responsive and came by to check out our situation in a timely manner. It turns out that the gopher was no longer active at the moment, but rest assured, Matt will be my first call if the little critter reappears! read more

Matt from Ground Control helped solve a challenging mole problem. It took a few tries, but he stuck with it and got the job done. Nice and professional. Would use him again read more

I only called this one gopher company based on the yelp reviews. He came quickly, was super friendly, and set four traps. He came a few days later to check and reset one that had dirt pushed into it by a gopher. Then came a few days later and had caught a gopher and a mole. I'm so happy with the service that Matt provides with no poison. read more

Matt was wonderful to work with, honest, straightforward, charges by the number of gophers caught; Highly recommended!

I had a horrible gopher problem. I estimated over 200 yards of gallery. One of my neighbors was using Smith Gopher Trapping. I thought he could give me an estimate while working at my neighbor. Instead they Emailed me a contract for $375 plus yearly maintenance. Next, my gardener recommended the Gopher Guy (he never responded) or ATCO. They sent me a contract before showing up as well. Someone else recommended Clark. They came to give me an estimate. Again, there was a hefty contract plus monthly maintenance (they do not use traps, and therefore were an no go for me). Finally, searching the Web, I discovered Ground Control right here in San Rafael. Matt, the owner, called me back within an hour and showed up at 6 PM the same day. A very likable and knowledgeable guy, he said he used traps, no contract. "I am a bounty guy" he said. "You pay $125 when I catch a gopher, nothing if I don't". I liked the proposal, and he went on to set his traps on the spot. The next day, he called me having caught a juicy mole. A week later, with no sign of further activity, he sent me an invoice for $125 which I gladly paid. Got gopher or mole problem, call Matt, you won't regret it. Gerald read more
