She is only speaking with the assumption of what she heard from her co-workers. She is missing context. 2. As a CUSTOMER, I shouldn't have to ask for something to be resolved four and five times to no avail. The fact that my concerns passed through at least 3 - 4 levels of management and THEN and ONLY THEN was I offered the chance to have them come back out again and resolve the issue speaks volumes to how this company conducts business. Even the QC Inspector that returned said, "UGHH! Why did they do it THAT way?!", when I showed him pics of the repaired work. I'd be a fool to let them get back on my roof a third time and leave without fixing the issues. 3. If you are a potential customer, please pay attention to the majority of the other positive Yelp reviews. They have absolutely nothing to do with actual repair work; but instead heavily deal with realtors or homesellers participating in the initial inspections to sell a home. Inspection and repair are two separate aspects in their operation. 4. If a business you pay money to has to escalate any concerns outside the parameter of "conducting good customer service" to multiple people at multiple times during a project, then the structure of that business is being mishandled and they are wasting time. Homeguard did not meet our needs and did not seek to resolve anything in a professional or timely manner. The very first person should have handled this and moved on. 5. I immediately got second opinions via online pictures of the work they performed and other roofers were actually going to charge me to repair the repairs. Imagine that! 6. I will continue to periodically give bad reviews of this company, through word of mouth, at conferences, in school, online, in forums, and anywhere else this topic comes up for me. I haven't written a bad review of any other company in over a decade.

Elder and the guys did an excellent job in covering up the entire house and finished the job in 2 days. My house had no insulation in the walls- to very less in the attic. After the insulation my Heat as well as Cold is retained inside the house. Heat turns on once in a 24 Hr cycle vs multiple times in an hour previously. If you are thinking of in wall insulation, it's totally worth it. The quote was the most competitive and they were very flexible. I am still closing out the multiple holes in the wall, will take time as i prefer to do it myself- I had plans to paint anyway .

I was initially impressed with what seemed like a thorough and well-considered estimate. It felt…read morelike the team really evaluated my attic and cooling needs. The addition of two QuietCool fans also seemed like a major plus, as I was already familiar with the product and expected it would significantly help with cooling. When it came to the insulation work, I was very pleased. The crew did an excellent job removing the old insulation and installing the new. They worked efficiently, protected my floors well, and ensured that no insulation debris entered the living areas. That part of the job was handled professionally. However, I was less impressed with the radiant barrier installation. This may partly be due to a misunderstanding on my end, as I expected a different type of material, but the end result did not meet my expectations. The biggest issue, unfortunately, was the installation of the fans. At best, it was very poorly executed. The fans are 16" units with 12" duct openings, yet they were installed directly against the gables, which severely restricts airflow. Proper installation should have included a box or shroud to help direct airflow effectively through the fans. Because of this poor airflow, the fans do not cool the attic--in fact, they appear to make things worse. I can actually watch the temperature on the thermostat increase when the fans are turned on. I reached out to my representative multiple times, but the response was disappointing. I was told they could not take the fans back, and when I asked why the attic temperature increases when they are running, I was told there was no explanation and nothing further could be done. As temperatures continue to rise, I'm left frustrated that I spent $1,200 on two fans that perform the opposite of what was promised, with no meaningful support or resolution offered. UPDATE: After posting my initial review, I was contacted by both the project manager and the owner. I reiterated the reasons for my frustration, explaining that my review reflected my honest impression of what I saw as a lack of clear communication and effective management of the project and customer expectations. The project manager apologized for the communication breakdown and asked if I would be open to giving them an opportunity to make things right. A technician was then sent out, and he took the time to fully understand the issue, carefully examine the installation, and make several adjustments to the original work. He believes these changes will help improve airflow in the attic. Since my attic has some unique characteristics, he also provided helpful suggestions for additional ways to improve cooling and airflow--something I feel should have been addressed during the initial planning stage of the project. Whether these changes will result in significant improvement remains to be seen; I'll have a better sense once the weather warms up. I do appreciate the follow-up and the willingness of the project manager to reach out and try to make things right, and I have updated my review accordingly. That said, I want to be clear that the increase in my rating is largely due to the technician and the time he invested in evaluating the full situation, as well as both implementing and proposing thoughtful solutions.

James Hall is our go to guy for almost any home maintenance. We found him years ago when his dad Steve still ran the company and they did a termite inspection on each of our houses. They did all the repairs including some spectacular carpentry work. Since then we have been termite free and James has repaired many windows, gutters, water pipes, appliances , decks etc. He does exemplary work at very fair prices. We love him as a person. He is trustworthy and can do almost anything. He just built irregular sized shutters that could not be replaced with standard ones. They are gorgeous. He is going to paint our house soon. The technician walked around the outside of the house, placed blue tape on a few visible gaps, and suggested sealing those areas, but there was no meaningful inspection inside the crawlspace or ceiling areas where the actual nesting and damage turned out to be. No one looked at the insulation or interior conditions, which is where I later discovered the real problem. I was also surprised to learn there was a $150 charge for the visit. It may be deducted if you hire them, but this was not clearly explained beforehand, and I had assumed it was a free estimate like most pest inspections. That should have been stated up front. Overall, this felt more like a quick exterior walkthrough than a thorough rat exclusion evaluation. I ended up hiring another contractor who did a detailed crawlspace inspection and identified significant interior nesting and insulation damage that this company completely missed. I would suggest clarifying fees in advance and asking exactly what their inspection includes before booking.
