I came in around 6:30 pm EST and ordered a cheese steak and a pizza slice. When I came in, I had a server bring me to my table quickly, which I appreciate, but I felt I wasn't approached very well since I only dined in for one. I sat down, and the table was still pretty messy from the previous people there. The environment was ok; I had about five families around me when I dined in. Then I had a very nice server named Hailey who got me all situated. The food overall wasn't great. The Cheesesteak's cheese wasn't melted, and the meat was quality but didn't taste like it was cooked well. The pizza slice look like it was cooked an hour before arrival and sat in a heater. It reminds me of the pizza I got at the local roller rink, unlike other grotto pizza places. I recommend if you come here, order a whole pizza rather than slices and double-check your cheesesteaks. We were halfway through a long drive when my stomach said PIZZA PLEASE. I saw a sign for Grotto's, a place I used to frequent in my crazy days of hanging out in Bethany beach, but hadn't had in nearly 30 years. Why yes, let's do it. Actual service was not great. We had a new server who seemed eager enough, but never checked in on us. The place wasn't particularly busy or full, so when a half hour passed and no pizza and no sign of the server, I took it upon my self to walk up to the counter and ask about the status of the pizza. I was told, "I was just about to bring it to you!" But then another seemingly long few minutes passed before it finally got to our table. I actually really enjoyed the pizza. The crust was nice and crisp, there was a good ratio of cheese and sausage, and overall, it was very good. But once again, no server. Minutes ticked by, no one came to check in on us so we could get the leftovers boxed up and we could pay and get the heck out of Dodge. Grrrrrrrr. read more

Grotto's, if you're from Delaware, you probably love it. Foreigners (I mean, people from New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Florida) are still in shock from Delaware cuisine and the absence of their indigenous pizza style. So if you take Grotto's pizza for its unique qualities, you just might become a fan as well. The sauce is spiraled over the cheese, not under it, and the cheese is a special mix with, I think, cheddar --the way Detroit thinks pizza cheese doesn't start and end with mozzarella, only they're way out there with the black rectangular pan and crust climbing to the skies. This pizza is decently round. Square is for...squares. I also often like their salads but this time the salad was a bit blah and the cherry tomato was trying to escape being devoured by disguising itself as a prune. It's not bad here for lunch, if you order a lunch special 'za, you can get away from your office and just chillax for a reasonable amount of time before resuming groveling on the phone and chastising your staff (not too much, hiring replacements is tough!) Service was smiling, helpful and happy. Be sure to tip your waitstaff well. read more

Ordered a regular cheese pizza for me and my grandsons. Pizza was definitely not up to the standards that we've come to expect at Grotto's. The pizza was soggy, poorly cut and just poor quality. So I returned it. They did offer to make me a new one - this one was just as bad and it was in the same box! Needless to say there are better places to buy a pizza in the Camden/Dover area and I'll be going to one of these instead of spending my money at the Camden Grotto's. read more

Went for lunch on recommendation of my son. Food was very good enjoyed it a lot. Service was amazing the Bartender/Server ( we sat in the bar area) Ryan was very sweet, always smiling , didn't rush us and when we were ready to order she was right there very friendly. Grotto Pizza in Camden DE is my boyfriend & I's go to place. I would consider us regulars. We normally stick with cheesesteaks because we arent a fan of the pizza. If we get an appetizer its the mozzarella sticks. I'm giving this a 4 star because there are a few times that it wasnt the best, but its a busy restaurant & theres been more great days with great food & service compared to the bad. There are people who probably dont like this restaurant but I can personally say this is our spot! Btw... The ranch is amazing. I've have never had worse pizza. I asked for a personal pizza with x mushrooms and I got 4 mushrooms on entire pizza, very little cheese and very sour sauce. So I tried another Grotto different location well same no difference. My question when I asked for extra mushrooms and got only 4 I wonder if it was regular I would get only 2? Insane! read more

This was a shocking pleasant experience for a pizza chain restaurant! On our way down to the Delaware state fair/Nelly concert we decided to grab a quick simple bite to eat. The service was better than some high end restaurants & the slices & chicken tenders were surprisingly very good. If in the area I'd definitely try out full blown meals here as the service was A+. If there were zero stars I would give zero. Most atrocious "pizza" I've ever seen; and I say seen instead of eaten because I couldn't even eat it. The cheese was low grade dollar store cheese and looked literally plastic. There was SO much sauce slopped on TOP of the pizza that you couldn't see or figure out which toppings there were. I returned to this Grotto Pizza yesterday to give it another shot and it was definitely better than the first. We did curbside again and I was pleased to see designated parking spots for curbside. Although it felt a little slower than last time and service was also slow, it was slightly busy. I noticed something with this visit that I want to share. The employees do not seem to have radios. This could be the reason for slow service since their employees have no way to call in when someone new arrives or if there is a problem. Seriously a safety issue and slows down the service. Nevertheless, still got my hot pizza and delicious wings with no issues, aside from a wait. Overall still pleased with the needed improvements during this time. We ate here while visiting locally. The pizza made it among my lists of all-time favorites. I don't think I've ever had a pan pizza that had both a soft, bready and crisp crust. It was fantastic! I have always enjoyed grotto pizza down at the beach. I have also served in the military for several years. I was glad that they built a grotto pizza in Camden. One thing that I did not know was grotto offers a 25% military discount on pizza to military members. That was a perk that I found out through a very friendly employee who worked the take out. While I was picking up my food today, before I paid, he noticed my military card in my wallet and asked if I served in the military. After answering yes, he then took off 25% off my pizza. Not stopping there, he even informed me of "military monday" where military members get 50% pizzas and there's even music bingo. This gentleman was very friendly and helpful through my order. Because of his help, I had to leave a tip for him and thank him for his helpful information. I will definitely be returning on a monday to eat some pizza and play music bingo! This also a very clean, fresh, and friendly place and I would recommend it to anyone. Staff are younger but very mature and friendly. I've never ate in the bar but it looks very nice and large. Overall, very nice restaurant and bar. The food is great, especially the pizza and the specials and perks are nice too knowing that they can be pricey. read more
