Regular cheese with peppers

Love stopping at a Grotto pizza when traveling through Delaware. Even better , we have Phillies postseason baseball playing!

Delivery...all the cheese slid off

Ugh. Why are all my pizzas delivered like this. Pizzas are always good and consistent but it would be nice to get my pizza with the cheese on it and not on the side of the box.

Regular cheesesteak with fries instead of chips.

Grotto Pizza in Camden DE is my boyfriend & I's go to place. I would consider us regulars. We normally stick with cheesesteaks because we arent a fan of the pizza. If we get an appetizer its the mozzarella sticks. I'm giving this a 4 star because there are a few times that it wasnt the best, but its a busy restaurant & theres been more great days with great food & service compared to the bad. There are people who probably dont like this restaurant but I can personally say this is our spot! Btw... The ranch is amazing. I'm not sure if its made in house or if its a specific brand but its bangin!

Chicken Broccoli Mac n Cheese

Went for lunch on recommendation of my son. Food was very good enjoyed it a lot. Service was amazing the Bartender/Server ( we sat in the bar area) Ryan was very sweet, always smiling , didn't rush us and when we were ready to order she was right there very friendly. Food came out in a timely manner hot and delicious Definitely recommend

Can you tell it's a Hawaiian pizza?!

Pizza sauce is too sweet and the crust is not crunchy enough to soggy . Definitely not worth the trip.

And by that I mean I dropped my girlfriend and her daughter at Firefly and I devoted my day to sampling foods and drinks around the town with my buddy. He said this is his spot for Sunday football so we popped in and checked out some appetizers. We decided to go with some fried pork potstickers and some "boom tots". The potstickers were crispy and delicious and came with a teriyaki sauce to dip them in. I personally felt they were great without the sauce and thought the sauce actually made them a bit too salty. The Boom tots were very good. They have a regular loaded tots dish and then this one, so we decided to go outside the box a bit. These had crumbled bacon, melted mozzarella, and the "boom boom sauce" on them which is basically most companies knock off of the bang bang shrimp sauce that (insert name of chain restaurant that I can't remember here) made famous. Had some adult beverages and watched some sports and caught up with my buddy over these apps...what more can you ask for? Touchdown - Didn't Suck!

But you knew that when you drove up to this unprepossessing cafe-bar that looks like a former 50's frozen custard stand turned into biker bar. Which, it probably is. The gals under Valerie's management fly at light speed out of the kitchen, serving Yuengling lager on tap (yeah!) and the usual Bud offering as well as hot and cold sandwiches, Boardwalk fries, nachos and all the things that your doctor and dietician say "not to." There is a pinball machine (featuring Harley Davidson backbox), several other electronic games, one of which has a customized "joke" seat (toilet seat nailed to a wooden captains chair, along with a handy roll and dispenser on the back. Quaint! But don't get any dumb ideas!) Tables are comfy or you can sit at the bar. No booths. The steak sandwiches are well-known in these part and taste good; too good. There is one that is about as long as Jeremy Lin's arm. Seriously. It's huge. In case you can't imagine that, lacquered (I hope) rolls are hanging near the cash register so you can estimate roll length versus appetite strength. The bun has recently exceeded the meat content but their prices have stayed steady so you know what's happening. We all have to manage somehow. I'm not sorry as the flavor is good and I don't need so much saturated fat in any case. I do not fault them. The crowd is what you'd call "eclectic" or "local" and this is not a dainty boite to take a first date unless you already know he or she is a fan of local, very local bars. For local this is. Personally, I always love such places and our state has some of the better locals-only spots that are entirely enjoyable and beat a chain restaurant any day of the week. Valerie's is clean. It smells ONLY of beer, which I can't say about some other places I've visited. No cigarette smoke as our state has gone no-indoor-plumbing, I mean, indoor smoking.

I will say the bartender was very nice and the drinks were solid. The cheesesteak unfortunately was not. Perhaps it was good for this area, but for someone who has tried 20+ from spots in Philly and surrounding areas, it was nowhere near the conversation. Meat was a bit dry, not enough cheese, and the bread was too soft so if there was more cheese, it would have ripped right through the bread. Loved the place, would like to go back and try other foods and hang out for karaoke again, but i'd pass on the cheesesteak next time around.
