Solid choice for dinner if you find yourself in the Portola/Blairsden/Graeagle area. I met a couple high school friends to catch up a little bit. I've only been here a few times since I now live out of town... but every time I visit, I appreciate the interior - I really like the look! We started with spinach / artichoke dip as an appetizer... thumbs up all around the table on that one. There are actually several appetizers on the menu that look good - it's always tough for me to choose - but if you just wanted to drop by for a happy hour nibble, I'd say most people would be covered. It'd be fair to say that apps are one of their strengths. I had a caesar salad, and it was good! Pretty standard caesar, but I'm amazed that many restaurants manage to screw it up by drowning it in dressing or whatever. None of the common mistakes here - nice fresh, crisp lettuce... good dressing and imo the right amount - not too heavy, not too light. Just right. One of my friends had the Chicken Parm and the other had Shrimp Scampi - both reported goodness! The dishes looked great, but I behaved this time and kept my fork to myself. I had the salmon - one of my "go to" dishes - and it was good as well. Yes... we had dessert! There were several good options, but we decided to share the cookie "mess". We had dinner last evening at the Grizzly Grill, which has just been taken over by the same owners of The Iron Door, and unfortunately the food was not anywhere up to par with the old Grizzly Grill ... or with the new price point. We ordered one Double Pork Chop entree and two Mahi Mahi entrees, one of which we sent back and exchanged for Pot Roast, and ALL of the entrees were extremely disappointing! The pork chop was just OK and was served with a baked potato (which was very good) and seasonal vegetables, which were bland. The "grilled Mahi Mahi", which was a special of the night and served over Pesto Rissoto, which looked and tasted like green eggs and ham, was prepared pan seared, not grilled, and the look, texture, and taste was more like an old frozen swordfish steak ... dense, rubbery, tasteless, and not grilled! The waiter was very reluctant to take the Mahi back and replace it with Pot roast, which was finally accomplished; however, the pot roast tasted like Swiss steak, but we decided to try a dessert and ordered traditional beignets, which were over cooked and burnt. So ... all in all ... the "new" Grizzly Grill did not meet expectations and we won't be returning‍ when price points exceed the quality of food, major changes need to be made! read more

A nice little restaurant in a small little town. It has a very mountainous vibe to it. Exposed wood interior, dark wood exterior. The menu has plenty to choose from. You can go in here for a quick bite or have a really nice date night. They were quick to greet you at the door and they could accommodate a group of eight no problem with not that much notice. read more

Absolutely ridiculous policy and some of the rudest staff I've ever encountered. I want to start off by saying Jodie, please pick another profession because apparently serving people bothers you THAT badly. Went to the bar hoping for a quick drink, something I've done at countless restaurants without an issue. But apparently, at this place, you're not allowed to order drinks at the bar. That's right. A fully stocked bar, seats open, bartender standing there... and you're told you can't order a drink unless you're seated at a table. What kind of logic is that? Bartender was horrible, nothing but outright rude. Server Jodie made our meal so uncomfortable given the circumstances. Rushed us out of there yet our party was spending a grand at their business. Extremely rude/combative/non-welcoming employees, and the information on the door is untrue. Seating is NOT available at 7:30 as stated. We came in with a 10 person party and it was nothing but a mess. Hire a more respectable staff. There are too many great restaurants in this city to waste time at one that treats customers like an inconvenience. Avoid this place unless you enjoy being talked down to and told you can't have a drink at a bar... in a restaurant with a bar. Been going to the grill for years. Always loved it. Went back this weekend and learned that there were new owners. New menu did not include many of our previous favorites, which was not surprising given the new owners. My wife and I ordered the scallop appetizer, while my daughter ordered the scampi. The waiter was busy with a large table so didn't check back with us. Both scallop orders were salty, and over cooked to the consistency of rubber. The scampi was over seasoned, and in not eatable. Tried the beignets, but they were over cooked to the point of being burned. Will not be visiting again. read more

Randy and Chris are amazing hosts. The food is mountain fare, but it's always well prepared and tasty. During mid / late May through the summer, they get busy. So make reservations. Unfortunately, I wasn't impressed with food or the service. I had the grilled pork tenderloin, and it was mediocre. Slightly warmed, no sauce or gravy. The mashed potatoes were loaded with black pepper, and that's what they tasted like. If that's what I wanted I could do that with the black pepper from the table. The salad was just simple bagged greens. The dessert was vanilla ice cream with Hershey's syrup and a couple cookies. Sad to say we won't be going back anytime soon. read more

We recently had dinner with friends at Grizzly Grill and it was fantastic. When I made the reservation I let the owner know that my friend was in an electric wheelchair. She said no problem and she meant it. We arrived a little early and the owner was outside the restaurant making sure that there weren't any barriers in the way. She escorted us in to a great table. Our server was very attentive to our needs during the entire time. The drinks and salads came quickly. The main course was amazing - flavorful, plentiful and hot, EXCELLENT!!!! read more

We went to Grizzly Grill as they were recommended as dog friendly restaurant. We were seated quickly in their patio area. Our server was great. The salads and drinks were served quickly. The lettuce was crisp. My husband had the BBQ ribs which he said were tender and tasty. The fries that came with the ribs were dry and crunchy. He said he will substitute the fries for a baked potato or rice next time. I had the pasta primavera which was excellent. The pasta was al dente, the sauce very tasty and veggies cooked to perfection. The ambience on the patio left a lot to be desired. The patio area needed a good cleaning. 3 ladders were propped against the wall behind us, it was dusty, spider webs were on the railings and multiple boxes thrown out on the ground below us. First off the wait staff was great, pleasant, not too bothersome, Gwen was very attentive and our waitress (Kelsey) was super helpful and knowledgeable of the operation, very nice. Chris cooks a MEAN steak. I had the New York with additional prawns(cooked perfect), Grizzly salad, great choice, and Creme Brulee, which is my favorite there. Also had the Rib Eye and it was also cooked as requested and very tasty. The Mule drinks, and spicy margaritas are great also. All that, and in and out in about an hour...The Grizzly Grille has always been our go to for a consistently good meal. Randy and Chris are great caring people who understand how to provide consistently good food. Sometimes when I read the negative reviews, I question their validity because we have been going there ever since Randy and Chris purchased the restaurant. We will be back! read more

What a fabulous dinner place! We were told we didn't need a reservation, but when we got there at 5pm, the Hostess was pretty surprised that we didn't have one. She was very gracious and seated us anyway. I am so glad she did because we had such a wonderful meal. I had the Salmon that came with rice/veggies and a yummy sauce. My husband had the Lamb Shank and said it was one of the best meals he had ever had. Our friend had the Chicken Picatta and he hardly said a word at dinner, he was so enjoying his meal. Service was very good. The outside of this restaurant doesn't do the inside justice. We didn't expect the inside to be as nice and comfortable as it was. Have come here over the last 2 years, and tonight, 2 of the 3 meals, were 5 star. My brother in law had the prime rib, which was excellent. I had the pot roast, which, I cleaned the plate. The grill is within the golf course, thus the menu caters to golfers. Breakfast burritos are a great way to start the day. This one is full of eggs,bacon, and fried potatoes. Expectations Exceeded. The gracious host was able to seat our family in the bar even though they weren't taking walk-ins due to a busy Father's Day. I would describe the cuisine as not quite "high end" but very well-executed classics such as their lamb shank and their ny strip with a demi-glace and brandy sauce. Wow what a great experience. We ordered so much food and it was all worth it. We made a reservation and when we got there they sat us right down. I recommend making the reservation in case they are busy. We started off with some cheese curds and they were the best curds I've ever had. So much flavor. I think they are supposed to bring you bread at the table but we didn't get any which is fine considering how much food we ordered. We also had their Caesar salad which was okay. If it had more sauce it would have been perfect. The clam chowder is a must, so creamy and flavorful the best clam chowder I've ever had. Not fishy whatsoever. We wanted to see what they had so we ordered so much stuff! Now for the fun stuff the entrées: Fettuccine carbonara =12/10, sauce and noodles were cooked to perfection Seafood medley = 12/10, mix of seafood and the sauce was amazing would get again Halibut = 10/10, rice was okay the sauce on the fish was amazing and the fish was cooked perfectly Braised pot roast =8/10, needed more flavor but the meat was so tender Beignets =10/10 perfect way to finish off a good dinner, sweet and crispy The price of all this WITH a bottle of wine was less than $200 which I think was totally worth it! Don't bother eating in Greaeagle...their restaurants don't open until 3p and close by 6:30...Blairstown is a much nicer town. The Grizzly Grill is NOT bar food. Great, friendly service and steakhouse style menu. This will be our main stop each time we come to town. I recommend the beignets...HEAVENLY. We ordered the Grizzley salad, chowder, ribs, ravioli, and seafood medley...and it was all delicious and good size portions. The restaurant was well decorated, clean, roomy, and had no problems holding a conversation inside. We really appreciated that they were actually open and felt like our presence was appreciated. And 3 means "A-Ok" which was definitely not our experience. We stopped here on St Patricks day to celebrate my birthday. We had spent the weekend at the Chalet View Lodge. We were hoping for a quiet delicious dinner with attentive service which unfortunately wasn't what we got at all. We had heard a few people mention this place and people said it was good. The reviews also backed that up. So we are seated, its not very busy, but we waited awhile for our server to come around. We ordered a bottle of wine which also took awhile. Then a few groups came in and service got slower because it seemed they were locals and they all knew the staff. This led to a lot of chit-chat and less attention to the tables. And one of the tables had a gentleman who felt it was appropriate to talk to people across the room at other tables. No one said anything to him. Maybe its just me, and I am picky but I don't find this acceptable. I did order a cup of clam chowder, which was good to their credit. The food did take a bit but we knew that they were now busy and we had ordered steaks which can take a bit longer. The steaks were very flavorless and rather tough. I really wanted to like this place, we had heard such great things but I think next time we're in town we'll just stick to having dinner at the pizza place down the road even if also had lunch there. read more

After a personal recommendation from our neighbors we decided to take a short drive over to the Grizzly Grill. When we arrived we found ourselves seated at a table in one of the best restaurant in graeagle! This was the case for a few reasons: most importantly the food was to die for! Our party had the pork tenderloins, New York strip steak, jambalaya, Prime rib (the special of the day), and the Lamb Shank and all were beautifully cooked. The pork tenderloin had a melt-in-your-mouth sauce that it was served with that was so good I had to keep dipping my fork in it even after the meat was gone! The New York steak paired perfectly with the mushrooms that came with it and was the staple of what steaks should be like, the jambalaya was not as wet as might be traditionally served but with andouille sausage mixed with the vegetables and rice it was quite a tasty treat, the prime rib was humongous and perfectly cooked, and the lamb was prepared masterfully so it almost dissolved in your mouth! The side mashed potatoes were wonderfully whipped and the side Cesar salad or clam chowder soup were fantastic starters! The entire establishment had such a homey feel to it with all the servers being as friendly as can be and the ambience was very comfortable. When the servers brought our cake for one tables birthday the entire restaurant sung along and clapped in joint celebration. Even after the dinner, we stopped at the bar to watch the end of the football game with a small crowd that was sitting there that invited us to join them as they noticed us eyeing the score. All this speaks to the character that is represented at the Grizzly Grill. And on a side note, their beignets would rival Authentic New Orlean beignets and the sipping sauces were paired wonderfully followed by an excellent "blind dog" coffee. I've lived in the San Francisco Bay area and Monterey area, visited many restaurants, both fisherman's wharves and none can compare to the Clam Chowder at Grizzlies! I LOVE it! It is full of huge clams, potatoes cooked perfectly and bonus bits of bacon. The "Oso" appetizer is an original and delicious. The truffle ravioli was delicate, with a rich marinara that make my mouth water just thinking about it. The CHEF is gifted in my humble opinion. Best food experience. Passing through for a quick visit to the area. Stopped by at 4:30, Saturday night, no reservation. They squeezed us in and oh my were we pleased. Early Bird pot roast with mashed potatoes and fresh veggies were perfect. Served with the best fresh mushroom soup we've ever had. I had an ample serving of the Halibut special with a lemon butter sauce and fresh veggies, taking home half. My salad was served with romaine lettuce, balsamic vinegar dressing, blue cheese, and candied walnuts. Wow!
