What a great experience we had for dinner last night. We have driven by this place many times while up in this area and decided we had to eat there. Even though it was crowded, we were seated immediately and had chips and salsa and our menus. We were asked if we wanted something from the bar and it was brought out right away. Another waiter came and took our orders. Our food came pretty quickly and it was delicious. I had the taco and enchilada and my husband had the chilli Relleno and enchilada. The food was excellent. My taco was a little dry, and I only ate half of it, but not enough to change the 5 stars. JJ and his Mom were so nice. Jj is all over the restaurant making sure everyone has what they need. The place is decorated like a Mexican Cantina. Really a nice place. We will definitely be coming back and recommending this restaurant. read more

Had lunch here on a Sunday. Warmly greeted by the wait staff. It was a big group of 10 of us. I had the Ceviche, Guacamole and Fajitas For the ceviche, was a great share plate, just the right flavor For the fajitas, huge portion, flour tortillas were at the right temperature. The refried beans were a good consistency, and the chicken + veggies were grilled perfectly. Bonus of Pacifico on draft. Was bummed that I didn't have time to check out the desserts! read more

The best Mexican restaurant within 20 minutes of Portola. The carnitas are the best and we love the tostada salad and crunchy tacos too.

Our visit to Martha's kitchen started with a lovely server called Missy. I don't know if it's Missy or Missie... I should've asked, but what a pleasant young lady and she took care of us beautifully. She did suggest the tortilla soup which I admit, I ate most of it, I ordered a Carnitas taco with the rice and beans which was excellent. My husband ordered a chicken taco bowl, but could only eat half of it and had the rest for dinner. Drinks were taken care quickly, and my husband got a refill for his drink. Would I go back again ?...definitely! It's not an inexpensive meal, but it was tasty. The service was well done and it had nice ambience. There are not a lot of places between Quincy, California and Portola and this was an unexpected stop on the highway, but well worth it! read more

We were looking for a Mexican restaurant while we stayed near Greagle. Martha's was a short drive away, and I will have to say the place exceeded our expectations. First thing I noticed when we drove up was the American flag proudly displayed at the front door. Very nice. Friendly greeting when you walked in the door and service was very attentive. Great chips and salsa. We ordered chili Verde and carnitas plates, both were some of the best we've ever had. This is one of those places we will be happy to go back to. read more

Sorry to do this, but poor service ruined the great taste of any food served here. I waited at the front counter for a few minutes before being seated - no one wanted to interrupt their girl chat to notice me - but I was OK with that. It's a friendly place, if you are a local. But after sitting at my booth for over 15 minutes, I had to flag down the owner to place my order. The bimbos on staff were busy, I guess. The food was great. But not worth the stress of wondering why I was ignored. After eating, I waited for my check. Two servers were chatting at the bar. No one brought my check. Is it worth it - ABSOLUTELY NOT. If you're a small business, in a rural setting, every customer is valuable. read more

I have been looking for a great Mexican location since I left AZ 9 yrs ago. They have wonderful chips, thin crispy and salty. Yum Tacos were wonderful, hard shells. The salsa is too die for. I will becoming back probably every week. read more

We had a fantastic dinner at Martha's Kitchen. The chips and salsa were very good and the guacamole was especially fresh and delicious. Outstanding dinner! Seafood enchiladas were devine with perfectly cooked fish, shrimp and scallops accompanied by a light and flavorful sauce.
