Carne Asada Burrito

We had gone to Lassen Volcanic National Park and found this restaurant in Chester. There were lots of tables- thankfully not full on a weeknight. Clean and decorated nicely. The wait staff were super friendly and attentive. Today on top of everything. The food came out quickly and was so tasty. We were stuffed when we left. If you happen through the little town, I'd recommend Mi Casita.

Very cool fireplace.

Wow! Very few choices to eat in Chester CA, near Lake Almanor. We found a gem in Mi Casita. The food is awesome. Really good and Flavorful! The service was decent- it took awhile to get water and our order- but once it got rolling--wow- incredible. Never an empty glass or chip and salsa Bowl. The prices are what you expect for the location.

I came with mom and got the crispy tacos very good for the area! Service is a little slow but than again we are on vacation Not a big deal! And nice sangria for a hot day

Happy with today's hiking at Lassen! Cheers!

Not many choices in Chester, especially after summer and during Covid. We had two basic combinations that were filling but unremarkable. Not a lot of flavor. They do have outdoor seating, but we ordered to go. Big negative for us, servers did not wear masks.

Lake life is great! Keep that in mind. Our weekend getaway to Lake Almanor was amazing...the lake is great! Mind you, it's a small town so I really wasn't there to dine and be captivated by cuisine. For starters, the chips and salsa were ok...chips were thick and not really fresh tasting, and the salsa tasted like it came from a Pace jar. That's ok...the lake is great! Margaritas? Yes please! Wait...is there alcohol in this pitcher? They were very mild, and no, I wasn't expecting top shelf, but something with a little more zing would have been nice. My shredded chicken enchilada (wet) was ok, and I wish it was better than that, but hey, the lake was great! The service was ok as well, and I know that seems to be the theme for this review and I truly wish I could give it a better rating, but to be fair, it was truly just that. If you are just looking to replenish the food intake then yes, it's just fine, but don't expect anything more than that. Will I be back? I'm sure I will, as long as the lake is still there! Cheers!

Great service and food. I grew up in the area and I can say by far one of the best places in town.

Decent little Mexican food joint in the small town of Chester. Small family restaurant feel. Food was decent, would go again.

Worst $20 burrito I ever had. Would definitely recommend Carlos or Burros and Churros instead.

We met the owner who baked everything by hand in the back of the shop. We could see her prepping more pastries. She was so sweet, just a lovely person. You can't help but want to support her business. And then the pastries themselves were just so good, I would gain so much weight if I lived up there year around because I would eat there everyday! My dad and I shared the Ham and smoked Gouda calzone and oh my goodness was it good! Flakey crust, perfect fillings. It was delectable. I had the chocolate and banana turnover and absolutely loved it. Again, great pastry crust? And the proportions of banana to chocolate were perfect! I also loved my apricot and cheese danish. The flavors really complemented each other, and again - perfect crust! My dad tried the berry and cheese danish and the chocolate croissant and he loved them both! I don't think you could go wrong with any of the pastries here. We took our order to go and ate them the next morning and they were still delicious. It's an inviting shop, with limited seating inside along with plenty of seating outside, so it would be a great place to have a bite to eat as well!

I did notice the cute interior Dutch decorations and realized the coffee shop name is in Dutch! This is such a cute find in a small town. They have microwaves for you to warm up your pastries yourself if preferred. The lady is friendly and will give you recommendations if you are having trouble deciding what to get. I was a little disappointed as there was barely any chicken in the chicken pesto calzone. However I recommend all the cake and sweets there.

Copper Kettle Cafe was exactly the kind of stop we needed after a long day driving from the Sequoia…read morearea toward Lassen Volcanic National Park. At that point, hunger was making major life decisions for us, and this place definitely hit the spot. We ordered the Cobb salad, a cheeseburger, and a milkshake. Everything tasted good. Nothing dramatically life-changing or worthy of a dramatic food documentary narration, but solid, satisfying comfort food when you really need it. The milkshake was actually very good, and honestly part of the charm was watching the staff figure out the wonderfully ancient milkshake machine. It felt a little like witnessing a friendly negotiation between modern humans and a relic from a 1957 diner. Somehow, though, the machine delivered. It also seemed like there may have been new owners or at least people still settling into things. Communication was occasionally a little challenging, but everyone was trying, and the whole interaction ended up feeling more charming and humorous than frustrating. Overall, this is a simple roadside café that serves comforting food, good milkshakes, and a little small-town personality along the way. Sometimes, after hours on mountain roads, that is exactly what you need.

The ribeye really impressed me. We came around 8pm on a Saturday and they were sold out of a few things including rice pilaf so they substituted that with fries instead. In my opinion, this restaurant is hyped up but it's very average, not that special…read more I ordered two salads here and added chicken. Both salads were about $30. each. That's a lot of money for just lettuce, tomato, cucumber, chicken, and some dressing. One was to go and one was sit down. What really offended me as well was I am a tourist and was dealing with hardship at a hotel. I was staying at this can happen to anyone. I was under a lot of stress and the first night the owner was so sweet, kind and compassionate really a breath of fresh air. Maybe she was just trying to impress the customers that were inside with how wonderful she was. When it came in the second night, she acted as if she didn't even know who I was adding more rudeness and stress to my already stressed out trip. Anyone can get stuck staying at a ratty motel and not knowing. This can happen to anyone. If you have a bipolar personality where you are super nice one day and cold and distant the next day customers do not like that and they feel it too. When I left to go use the restroom after I had paid my bill and hadn't even finished tipping, I saw her gossiping to the man folding napkins. I knew they were talking about me. You would think she would have some compassion and being a repeat customer twice on my trip. I then said, have a good night and put some money on the table less than I normally would because being treated disrespectfully for no reason is just not cool. Either just don't talk to people or be genuinely friendly. It's easy. Aside from that it's a cute restaurant, but the food is nothing special and if you like paying $30 for a salad, then you do you. I think their only claim to fame is that they have Turkish tea, which is a little exotic to Americans, but isn't a big deal if you were abroad in Europe.
