Beef Shawerma entree and the Karniyarik entree
Mia M.

A family owned traditional Mediterranean restaurant that was an absolutely delightful experience! My husband ordered the Beef Shawerma, and I ordered the Karniyarik, which is similar to a stuffed bell pepper but even better. Both dishes were so savory, adorned with a symphony of flavors and spices. Both entrees were served with hummus, rice pilaf and pita bread. We also ordered the falafel appetizer, that was served with a salad. The hot tea was strong and served traditionally perfect for a rainy evening in May, and they had assorted desserts although we didn't have the opportunity to try them all. Which gives us another reason to come back! The service was extremely attentive and appreciated. This restaurant is located in Chester, CA where not a lot of authentic genres of food are at your fingertips so, I applaud this family for embarking on this journey to serve the community and share their love of food and people. If you love good food and excellent service; you must give it a try.

OKay folks -- this is Chester, CA. It is small... when I say small it is SMALL... so if you expect to be able to grab dinner after 8 PM think again. You may be able to get a TV Dinner (as we did) at the Holiday Market but other than that you need to plan. However, I loved that Chester has expanded and included some other ethnic foods. Enter Aslan's grill -- if you like Mediterranean food you will like this place! I think it may be a gas station that was remodeled. It is NICE inside but not luxury and not a normal "restaurant size". I imagine they have a lot of take out here though. Mediterranean food travels well. The inside was clean -- I heard the bathroom was large and very clean but I did not see it myself. We were seated right away and the location was clean and inviting. The employees here were super nice and welcoming for sure. I brought menus to the table because I wasn't sure if we were supposed to order at the register but they do believe in service here. So they came and took our order. We tried to order Chicken Kabobs because I like white meat Chicken. They were out -- the server explained they had been extremely busy that day. I got Kofta Kabob instead and dad got Beef Kabob (steak). Mom got a Chicken Schewarma wrap that she loved. The food was ALL good. I haven't had Kofta before and it is basically ground beef but it was good particularly when I dunked it in cucumber dip. The food was good and average Mediterranean food -- so again if you like that you will like this place. The hummus and pita were good... average and good. I don't like rice but the family thought it was pretty good. The steak had GREAT flavor. We also got Baklava because my father loves it. He ... well... he loved it! HA HA What got this location 4 stars was the genuine service and great family vibe. When we left my mom has a cane and because of a snow berm she took a fall. I was able to get her up quickly. Dad had a walker though and one of (presumably) the owners came out and helped me walk him to the car. We thought we could just handle it but man I appreciated the help. I will go here again -- not cheap --- but good food.

We had plans for the day, but completely changed them the moment we opened the door and walked in here. We thought we'd grab a wrap to go, but the ambiance, aromas and friendly welcome was everything to switch our plans up and stay for a relaxing meal. One order of the falafel plat, one order of the chicken shawarma- both were generous servings and very filling: plus DELICIOUS. Didn't think worms have such an authentic experience in Chester, but aslan's 100% surprisingly exceeded our expectations. Worth the visit!

Cute, clean, country decor with sweet service and excellent food. We ordered beef shawarma & falafel plates.. both were delicious, perfect size portions and well priced. The mini baklavas were scrumptious! Everything tasted house made.... Slightly disappointed the falafel wasn't served with white/hot sauce... but I would still order it again. I was raised on and prepare Armenian /Mediterranean foods, so you can trust me when I say "definitely check this place out" !!!!

We took an impromptu trek up Mount Lassen to do some bike riding around Lake Almanor and then savored a late lunch at our new favorite restaurant in Chester, Aslan's Mediterranean Grill. The friendly service and authentic food were a winning combo - we thoroughly enjoyed the Mediterranean salad, Rib-eye kebobs, and Beef Shawerma with Tahini sauce! We highly recommend this delicious culinary spot the next time you visit Lake Almanor!

Amazing food! The ambiance was really nice, especially if you sit outdoors. The chicken was very tender and flavorful. The hummus was very good and the pita was warm and soft. Will definitely come back when we're in town.

Absolutely loved our experience here! The food was amazing and so fresh and came out quickly. Will be returning very soon!

Total (and most welcome!) surprise to find a newish Middle Eastern restaurant producing delicious falafel, dolmades, wraps, salads and more in this tiny mountain town. The homemade vegetable soup was perfect on this chilly day, punctuated with warming Middle Eastern spices and fresh herbs. The falafel wrap was delightfully flavorful, wrapped in freshly made pita that was crispy grilled. I was touched that the proprietor brought over a freshly made tea "on the house." A screen played Arabic music videos (not too loud). It is a very welcoming environment.

Visiting friends in town and this place was recommended. Simply AMAZING! We had the baba ghanoush, hummus, cheese borek, chicken shawarma plate, beef shawarma plate, and chicken kebab. Each plate was excellent with wonderful service to top it off. A true gem in town.

Fries topped with beef shawarma

Best Mediterranean food, one of our favorites. We love the fresh ingredients, spices, everything created to perfection. Such nice owners & staff as well. We love the beef shawarma & today tried the fries w/shawarma & the cucumber dip. Look forward to trying lots more.

Really good food and friendly service. Might be too pricey for some but a great addition to the Chester/Lake Almanor area.

Service was decent, just have to say that they had one piano song on loop the whole 45 mins I was in there, and it wasn't the best, maybe they could add some other music?

Copper Kettle Cafe was exactly the kind of stop we needed after a long day driving from the Sequoia…read morearea toward Lassen Volcanic National Park. At that point, hunger was making major life decisions for us, and this place definitely hit the spot. We ordered the Cobb salad, a cheeseburger, and a milkshake. Everything tasted good. Nothing dramatically life-changing or worthy of a dramatic food documentary narration, but solid, satisfying comfort food when you really need it. The milkshake was actually very good, and honestly part of the charm was watching the staff figure out the wonderfully ancient milkshake machine. It felt a little like witnessing a friendly negotiation between modern humans and a relic from a 1957 diner. Somehow, though, the machine delivered. It also seemed like there may have been new owners or at least people still settling into things. Communication was occasionally a little challenging, but everyone was trying, and the whole interaction ended up feeling more charming and humorous than frustrating. Overall, this is a simple roadside café that serves comforting food, good milkshakes, and a little small-town personality along the way. Sometimes, after hours on mountain roads, that is exactly what you need.
