The lighting is great, there's plenty of comfortable workspace, and the reading nooks make it feel warm and inviting. The coffee was excellent. I ordered the Maple Tide exactly as it comes, and it was delicious. The latte was not overly sweet and had a really distinct vanilla and maple flavor that tasted balanced and well crafted. I'm already excited to go back and try more of their drinks, especially a straight espresso. The location is also perfect. It's just tucked away enough that you don't have to fight traffic or stress about parking, but still close enough to the main road that it's an easy stop without going out of your way. It's close enough to Emerald Isle to become a regular stop for island locals or anyone heading across the bridge. The owner was incredibly friendly and really adds to the welcoming local atmosphere. I absolutely love the bookstore coffee shop concept, and I'll definitely be back.

The vibe was welcoming and exactly what you'd hope for from a local beach coffee shop. The staff were friendly and made us feel right at home. We ordered a couple of cold brews, bagels, a bacon, egg & cheese breakfast sandwich, and a cinnamon roll. Everything was fresh and hit the spot. The cinnamon roll was good, though compared to some of the best I've had I'd give it about a 7.6/10. Overall, Daily Grind is definitely worth a visit if you're in Surf City. Great coffee, friendly service, and a laid-back beach-town atmosphere make it an easy recommendation.

The coffees are wonderful- multiple days we got an iced chai with 2 shots of espresso and Nutella flavoring. It's delicious. I tried the s'mores lattes- it was pretty good, not my favorite combo they have but overall it was tasty. The food is the only thing I had wished was a little better. The eggs were not seasoned so the sandwich overall was just okay. All of the bacon was on one end of the sandwich. On a croissant it was kinda bland. The workers are all very nice and the inside is clean and fun. We definitely recommend stopping in for their drinks!!

The whole restaurant is super cute, albeit it does get really hot inside with only fans when there are lots of people inside. The tables are clean and the staff is friendly. The avocado toast has awesome goat cheese and the bacon you can add on is wonderful. The bad: Honestly extremely disappointed today. This is my third time here and I've been recommending them to all of my friends and family. We came in at 2 pm when they close at 4, drove 30 minutes for lunch, for the "kitchen to be closed". No where on their website or anywhere else do they advertise that they may close the kitchen early and I asked when it typically closes and they said they can just decide to close it when they feel like it, so they're only serving coffee and smoothies. We opted for smoothie bowls and they were completely liquid, we had to drink them and not eat them with spoons. There was also chunks of frozen fruit that didn't get blended and there was no spirulina and zero coconut flavor. Not sure who was working today but it was honestly such a bad experience that I don't think I'll be back or be recommending them to people anymore. $13 for basically a banana and handful of blueberries with melted juice and frozen pineapple chunks is highway robbery. Added two stars for the two prior experiences, I guess.

The star factor for this review is of course, their espresso. They have 6~ summer specials that are each unique. For coffee snobs, their syrups and cold foams are in-house, which is hard to come by in the inlet. Their espresso is bold, not too milky. It's the perfect beach latte. Additionally, their food is impressive for a cafe. I'd expect the same from a full restaurant! The portions are filling and come with chips, even though the menu doesn't state. They have a selection of sodas, waters and energy drinks available to pair with the food options. And a unique feature is they have a plethora of condiments for the food (mayo, hot honey, special sauce). It's a location that really cares for their customers. I wish I would've come here day one of my stay so I could give more to this little shop! Do not skip this gem when visiting. I don't know how there isn't 50+ reviews. Thank you for making my boyfriend and I's week and continue to be the best! I can only imagine this cafe will continue to grow. Images: Dot cake latte with oat milk and brunch burger. It looks great; I'll have to try one before heading back home to VA. I love it here, maybe you will too. I recommend dropping for a coffee, snack, or Breakfast/Lunch.
