The sales clerk said exactly and kindly, "Hi, how are you?" My response was well and yourself? She responded, "Good, just letting you know we close in 10 minutes, but please feel free to look around." I did not find this rude at all. Afterward, Mr. Victor and his family came in. The sales clerk said the same thing, kindly, and his wife seemed to not have an issue with this, seeing as she responded "Okay, thank you," with a smile. After that, Mr. Victor's response was, "That's a pleasant way to greet us, I'm not spending a dime in this store." and he stormed out of the store. His family remained to browse and apologized to the sales clerk for how rude their father/husband was when she was so friendly and did not do anything wrong. I worked in retail many years ago, and for one know you cannot simply lock a door to close. You have to count change, restock, clean, etc. You're not able to do this with customers still browsing. I've been coming to DeeGee's since it was across the street at Ruddy Duck's. They have an excellent selection of books and gifts. I have ALWAYS found the staff so friendly and helpful. DeeGee's is a must stop for anyone visiting Morehead City!

Downstairs, I found the coffee and pastries. I picked up a Raspberry Crisp to take home. All the cookies looked yummy. Upstairs, there are children's books in a section and then other adult books. I could have spent hours browsing. The staff as welcoming and friendly. There is plenty of parking in the little strip mall. They let anyone and everyone come in and sit and knit, which is a great time to take in all the yarn candy in the shop. They are so friendly they helped my husband find a great birthday gift, a yarn hat kit, and he was proud to hand it to me. There is an eclectic group of people that come and knit, and some that come in, asking a plethora of questions, all answered btw, and buy their fibers there. In Swansboro does not mean far from beachers, tourists, and lovers of a short distance adventure from the beach. AND well worth the time to be with Peggy and Roxanne, and everyone that comes in. And don't check the faces, those knitters are knitting one of the wonderful yarns and pattern that both Peggy and Roxanne have helped them find to your liking.
