Because when the rain comes in and dampens your family's weekend plans, quite literally, it's time for Plan B! I wasn't familiar with the area, but something drew us to Ky's American Bistro and, honestly, they kind of saved the day! Ky's is a locally owned establishment that specializes in down-home cooking and classic American fare. They advertise an unlimited salad bar, which I think is great. The unlimited salad bar seems to be vanishing from our culture (R.I.P. Ruby Tuesday!), and while I am not the biggest fan of the all-you-can-eat buffet (don't judge my lunch choice below!), I AM a fan of a salad bar that giveth abundantly. Beyond the salad bar, they create "handcrafted" burgers, tenderloins and hand-cut streaks. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon, and they had a hot bar you could add to the unlimited salad bar. Yes, it was technically a buffet, but I am going with "hot bar" because its my review, and I can. Joking aside, it was a solid Sunday meal. The hot bar had fried chicken, mashed potatoes, mac 'n cheese and green beans. Basically, the perfect Sunday comfort meal after a less-than-stellar camping trip. My son ordered the bone-in wings and they looked great, nice and meaty. My girls loved the "jello fluff" off the salad bar. I am a sucker for a salad bar that includes more than just salad, even if its simply something for my kids to enjoy. They also include a soup with the salad bar because, of course! It was a cheesy cauliflower, and my oldest daughter was skeptical. But she loved it and downed a bowl quickly. The decor is rustic, yet comforting: knickknacks on the wall, but it never felt like they were going full Cracker Barrel. My youngest daughter loved the "Farm to Table" sign with the greenery hanging down. She was already interested in decorating her bedroom in a similar fashion, so she was very impressed. And let me tell you, that's saying something for her! Lol. My only drawback was that it was nearing the end for the hours of the hot bar, yet more people had just been sat who stated they wanted to order the salad and hot bar. The kitchen brought out some fresh chicken, but said that was all that would be served. It was a little early, I felt, since a large family had just ordered, but it all worked out. There was enough food, and I understand a business wanting to save on food waste. I saw a review that mentioned instant mashed potatoes. All due respect, but that reviewed is crazy. These potatoes were THICC. No "k" needed! They were served with a delicious chicken gravy. The food was exactly what you would want for a down-home comfort meal. Whether you are surviving the bad weather or just looking for a great meal, Ky's has you covered.

I knew almost immediately something was off this visit. I soon realized there was only one young employee working all alone. One person on a Friday night on one of the first 80 degree days makes no sense. Later, he had to come around the front of the case yo find a flavor. He stated he was new and did not have the placement memorized yet. A new employee alone on a Friday night?!?!?! I asked if someone had called in and he said yes, but elaborated the staff is allowed to pick shifts. If true it is not working and will have a bad long term effect on the sales. I gave the lone employee great credit for sticking out the shift and continuing to slug through. However, it does not inspire confidence in returning soon. Next issue was the lack of my flavor. I loved the first two seasons when they had Turkish Coffee. The last couple of years they carried a much less coffee"y" flavor, but at least they had something coffee. Tonight no coffee anything. My second go to is banana pie which had a chocolate where the tag was placed. I waited 15ish minutes for my turn to ask if they had coffee and when I was told no I thanked the dedicated employee and left. I love supporting local businesses, and I am a huge ice cream lover so I hated seeing such a favorite in times past have such an off night. I hope the management steps up if they have call offs to pick up the slack and work or they find a new better scheduling plan. Next Summer they won't be here if this continues all Summer.

Our family reunion had a catered meal from Grill't, and boy was it good! I found out that anybody can go in and buy food; it's not just a catering business. A few days later, I got to go to Grill't. I got the brisket, the cheesy potatoes, and creamy cole slaw. My grandson was pleased with the hot dog and French fries. Food isn't the only thing Grill't is good at. I walked in and felt as if they had been hoping to see me. Their service with a smile and a "God bless you" was the icing on the cake, or in this case, the sauce on the brisket. It's a family-owned business, and the customer can tell that the people working there are interested in customer satisfaction. I think I'm going to be starting a habit. read more

Come here to be treated like royalty. Sweetest servers alive. The love of God radiates from them. I had ribs "dry," no sauce. They were fall off the bone, great smoke, but WAY too salty. Baked beans were dark & very sweet, which is okay with me, & laced with bacon. French fries are seasoned, delicious, and crisp. Mac & cheese is pale, soupy, and not very appetizing. Everyone seemed to enjoy their pulled pork & chicken. Good brewed tea with timely refills. Would love to try the slaw and greens, but they were out at 7:30 p. Some of the most amazing food you ever put in your mouth! I had the pulled pork, Texan potatoes and Cole slaw. My sister had the same except for baked beans instead of the potatoes. I tried her baked beans and nearly had a fit over how incredibly delicious they were. I cannot wait to go back and take friends and family with me. I wish the building was closer to the road as Weenie World blocks them from view. The place is clean, the staff is friendly and efficient. Miss Debbie runs a tight ship! What a great experience. Great, locally owned business. Grill't started as a food truck, and they had a great turnout no matter where they popped up. They opened up a permanent location earlier this year, and they are continuing to turn out fantastic food. So far, we have tried their Burgers, King Philly Cheesesteak, Smoked Chicken Wings, Ribs, and Loaded Monster Fries. All were fresh and amazing. Portion sizes are huge, and the quality is well worth the price. Anthony and his family are amazing people, and deserve your support. Currently they only offer drive-thru and carryout. I believe they have plans to open a seating area once COVID allows. read more

This restaurant has some of the best food I've had the pleasure of trying in a long while. There's a variety of food on the menu, I tried the pulled pork with slight spicy but still sweet bbq sauce as well as fried and Mac and cheese. I am not exaggerating when I say the sandwich was the best one I've had in a very long time, if not ever! The Mac and cheese was delicious and the fries were seasoned amazingly! And if the food wasn't enough to try this place out, the staff are so very friendly and homely, you almost feel like family when you eat here. 110% recommend coming here at least once!!!!! read more

My whole family absolutely loves this place! The food is spectacular (I would recommend the pulled pork sandwich). The customer service is amazing, and they are always extremely welcoming and friendly. The food comes out very fast too. I know that a lot of order take-out there, but my family is very large, so we often eat there; it is very nice. They have cute little signatures on the walls of the people who visited. It's well worth the drive/stop to try it. Personally I think they underestimate the quality they serve. Both women we dealt with were phenomenal, all around nice food and atmosphere. We just happened upon this restaurant during a cross country trip. We've been all through the south and had some pretty good BBQ in Texas but Grill't is SO much better!! Wow! Best BBQ - meats were tender and juicy, not dried out. Sauce was perfect. Mac n cheese was awesome and the lemonade fresh from scratch.
