We were considering eating at Willie & Red's this coming Friday; October 30, 2026 but after reading the drastically varying reviews, we've reconsidered. A restaurant HAS to be consistent in it's food quality if nothing else. In reading some of the recent reviews; April 10, 2026 and Oct 26, 2026, for example, it doesn't sound as though WIllie & Red's is consistent! We have about a 120 mile round trip to eat there and with the high price of gas and not even finding what the smorgasbord price is online, we just can't take the chance of having a poor or even a fair tasting meal. I might add, I've been a home cook/baker for over 50 years and am a retired chef with an international hotel. So I know good food when I taste it. Some of the previous reviews mentioned the mashed potatoes being instant potatoes, thin gravy, cold food and imitation bacon bits on the salad bar! A restaurant can't charge a premium price for food that is not premium nor expect customers to frequent there by remembering how their food USED to be when it was Welliver's. Nor frequent it just because of the attractive decor or it's past history. I also read that several customers were disappointed in their meal and asked the server for a discount or their money back. The owner/manager Penny, refused I read. That is poor customer service. The customer is "always" right. Word of mouth and reviews can be a blessing or lead to the restaurant's demise.

Our first visit to Carnegie's in Greenfield to celebrate a wedding anniversary. There is apparently no difference in service. My hubs ordered a glass of merlot and I ordered their lemon/blueberry martini. The merlot was nice but the martini was out of this world. My new fave drink! We started with the asparagus dip and again, the best we'd ever tried. We ordered their smothered chicken and an off menu pasta with sausage. Both were incredible. I wanted to try their pasta so I ordered a side of fettuccine in herbed butter. It too was lovely. The venue is in the basement of a former Carnegie Library. It's a little dark and has a speakeasy feel. We turned the lamp on our table to a brighter setting to see a bit better. Our server was Chris. He is very knowledgeable and gave us a lot of information about the food, business and building. The GM, Jeremy, gave us a tour of the upstairs portion of the building where they hold specialty events. Overall, we loved all of our evening and were able to have this experience right at $100 for both of us. We'll be back!

Otherwise you can order anything off the menu. Their menu includes steaks, etc and is a little pricey . I had the breaded tenderloin. It was not your usual. It looked as though it had been breaded in some kind of cheese mixture. It was pan friend and the underside of my tenderloin looked like a carbon copy. It was burnt. I ate about1/4 of it. I did not care for the breading. My friends had the tenderloin and a French dip sandwich. She took the French dip home for her dog as it was too tough to eat. We had a great wait staff that checked on us and gave us time to catch up with each other Since this is an old library, there is no elevator. It is necessary to walk down 20ish steps to the main dining room. No matter what shape you are in, those steps are a hazard Would I go back again? Not for lunch, maybe dinner or pizza.

My eggs were cooked perfectly as well. Overall, a perfect breakfast. As we checked out, the clerk told us a joke. I won't ruin it for you by telling you the punch line. Anita's has two private rooms for meetings or parties. There is a single unisex restroom. Parking is ample around the building.
