Went for Easter smorgasbord. It was reservation only. The buffet was kinda boring offering mostly bland , cheap things, salads. The ham was flavorless sliced walmart ham, the meatballs were frozen and the only other meat offered was some sort of sliced beef that was dry as a bone. The atmosphere was nice tho and the staff were dressed nicely. All in all, if your looking for salads and bland food, the smorgasbord will suit you. Otherwise, order off the menu, but if the smorgasbord is that basic, the menu may be as well. read more

The place is not what it once was as far as really good food stands. We ate there today, 3/15/2026 and the only good things were the Brussel sprouts, pasta salad, and the cherry crumb pie. I pushed everything else away after a few bites. The chicken gravy used to be the talk of the town along with the fried chicken, and it just isn't any good anymore. And I haven't seen the fake bacon bits at any salad bar in years, except here, those fake bits are going strong. You'd think for what they charge they could have real bacon for the salads. The fried chicken and chicken livers were overcooked and dried out- looked like they had been on the buffet too long. The roast beef was completely dried out and old. The mashed potatoes were instant and awful- the corn had no flavor, no salt and no butter. The homemade rolls were cold! The salad bar was the best thing there. This was the 3rd time in the past 12 months I have been to this restaurant - and unfortunately it has gotten worse each time. Do better! read more

My forever favorite. The smoked sausage sandwich is shaved smoked sausage perfectly grilled, with coleslaw and tartar sauce. The silver clouds has blended ice cream and kahula, the pea salad is the best I have ever had and they always bring you chips, veggies and dip to snack on. This was a kind of last minute decision to eat here so we decided on the smorgasbord / buffet but they do have a menu. It is family dining style where you are in a dining hall with lots of people but you are taking care of like you're the only table in there. We had a wonderful waitress who took our drink order and made sure our plates were cleared out of the way. The buffet I thought it was a nice touch that they do require you to put on plastic gloves each time you go up with a clean plate. Some of the items that I personally tried was the chicken noodles the mashed potatoes corn which I thought was some of the best corn I've had. They have fish, chicken, roast casseroles they had rolls or corn bread rolls and a salad bar that was amazing. they have a nice dessert station where there is someone there cutting up pieces of pie, cake there was cobbler they had sugar-free option there was ice cream toppings I will admit it was very nice. read more

This is a completely different review than my last one. Thursday evening my wife's family decided to meet for dinner at Willie and reds. I ordered bbq ribs. They were delicious! It was all delicious! This place was good. They'll ask if you're eating from the menu or the smorgasbord, it just means regular menu or buffet. I haven't had anything from the menu. SUPER clean, they even ask you to use gloves when getting your food. I respect that. The fried chicken, grilled fish, hush puppies, Parmesan garlic roasted potatoe wedges are the most memorable, salad bar was really good. Hard boiled eggs were over cooked :(. But the food overall was yummy, I wouldn't get the corn, mashed potatoes, or Mac n cheese. They were definitely the no's of today. The strawberry rhubarb pie was delicious I would've ate every piece on the table if I had the little self control I have now. I think our waitress name was Jamie or Janie (I'm sorry) she was super nice and helpful though. She did very well at keeping our drinks filled, we'd been riding motorcycles all day and was thirsty. We went for the Mother's Day smorgasbord with a total of 14 family members. They gave us a huge table close to the buffet. The restaurant is extremely clean and well organized. They have a huge, huge selection on the smorgasbord. There are lots of meats, vegetables and salads. There are a few choices for vegetarians. (but not as many) The prices are reasonable for all of the choices and courses. They have a large salad buffet with twelve different dressing to choose from for your salad. (They do have fish for pescatarians but it is breaded. ) A few of the sides, such as the mashed potatoes were a bit bland. It may have just been because Sunday was so busy and the tables were full. And they have a large dessert bar packed full of cakes, pies, puddings, and ice cream. The cherry delight was a favorite at our table! We did not feel rushed and had plenty of time to enjoy our meal and visit with family. Our waitress, Amy, was kind and attentive. We thought it was a great option for Mother's Day. We came from out of state to eat here so obviously we were hoping for the best. As you wait to be seated there is a nice cheese ball with crackers (see pics) you can snack on. We opted for the buffet and found a wide range of tasty food to choose from. Everything looked so good it was hard to decide what to get first. I remember it as Wellivers! Came as a kid and as an adult! Best food ever! Something you looked forward to. I have to say- I am disappointed now with the food. I am happy they survived covid , and happy to visit a buffet! I was expecting hand carved fabulous prime rib, or roast beef. Nope. Roast beef "leftovers" in a warming pan. Very disappointed. Can add a prime rib slice for $10, ordered it medium - came to table completely well and tough. The corn, bleh. The instant potatoes would be edible if added REAL butter...:(. The absolute best best best things are the saute mushrooms, the broc salad, and the cheese ball! Those all Taste home made!!! Very delicious. Wish they could do that to all their items. The food was horrible! I ordered the blackened chicken Alfredo and took one bite of the noodles to taste it. Had absolutely no flavor! Literally tasted like water. My husband ordered the sirloin medium and his came out over well done. Waitress never came back to check once and when she came back to deliver the bill I let her know I did not eat it because it had no flavor. She took it back to the kitchen. She then came back and said she would go and see if she could get them to discount it at least, but she doubted it because Penny (the owner) never discounts anything. This is way overpriced cafeteria food at best. Nothing more. Everything is instant or scraped out of a can into a steam tray. They price it high so you will think; if it's expensive, it's good, and you fall for it EVERY time. The fried chicken actually tasted good but was dry, tepid, and tough. I have to say that I am worried about Willie and Red's. The quality of the food has really gone down and the amount of people eating here only back up what I am saying. This place used to be packed. We had to wait for a table and we would be lucky to be able to find a spot on the benches in the hall until they called our name. There would be people lined out the door waiting too. They say they were busy yesterday. I know I won't come again on a Sunday. It seemed as though yesterday's leftovers were put out for those of us dining today. The majority of the hot dishes that I had were cold or barely warm. No one standing and carving a beautiful roast beef, just a tray of already sliced, overcooked beef. Oh how I love fried chicken livers!! They had them! A huge pan filled with chicken livers. Fried as hard as a rock!! They used to have the most beautiful fried shrimp. Today there were some long fried shrimp. I pulled off the batter all that was left was a tiny skinny shrimp less than 1/2 the circumference of a pencil. I will say that the salads were excellent. They serve Coke Products and it comes with your meal. If you like desserts there are more choices than I can name. All you want: cobblers, pies, cakes, ice cream, and three kinds of cheesecake. read more

Ate in the Bar Thursday May 19. I was happily surprised to see all of the bar stools were taken so my brother snd I sat in the only available booth. It is a hood sign when a restaurant has a booming business. As far as bar stool or booth it makes no matter since both the Server and Bartender have worked there for years and both are friendly and proficient. I ordered from the Special Board and got the Beer Battered Shrimp. Excellent decision since the breading was light and the shrimp were large. I chose as my two sides the dinner salad and s baked potato. I ate every bite of my salad other than the two pickled beets. The croutons were fresh and tasty to accompany the thick bleu cheese dressing. The salad also had some red onion, hard boiled egg and cheese. The baked potato was fully cooked so nice snd tender. My brother had the Chicken Livers, with baked potato and a salad with Ranch dressing. He had so many Chicken Livers when he was finished snd ready to box them up his plate still looked full. I tried one of his Livers and enjoyed it so much I stole one more out of his to go box. He had tried one of my Shrimp as well and thought it was good also. Both of us took to go boxes home with enough for each of us to have a full second meal. We thoroughly enjoyed and devoured the relish tray that accompanies every meal. Their Curry vegetable dip is outstanding. My brother is a fan of their Nacho Meat dip. How many restaurants still serve a complimentary relish tray in this day and age?! My brother wound up boxing up the free desert cake and roll to take home to his house. Unfortunately, I did not get to nibble on the cake before it got boxed but I know from past experience it is good. Nice little buffet, or you can order off the menu, restaurant in the small town of Hagerstown. They have a large selection to choose on the buffet from a good salad bar to prime rib and fried chicken. A very nice dessert bar with soft and hard ice cream and wide variety of pies and other things. So let's just start with what I didn't like because that list is shorter than what I did like. The fish was not to my liking. Mac and cheese was a little bland but eatable. Not sure what is was but looked like hashbrown casserole and was not eatable. The bbq ribs where tender and decent but the bbq sauce was not up to par. The rhubarb pie was not very good at all. All in all worth the trip to Hagerstown to eat here. Side note, if they ask if you mind sitting downstairs and you are taller than 6'2" you will have to duck to get through the doors. read more

This is absolutely the best buffet I have ever had. EVERYTHING I tried was good. Chicken was so good, crispy yet tender and juicy. Beef was fall apart tender. Mashed potatoes were on point and the brown chicken gravy was superb! Salad bar was incredibly fresh and so many choices! Dessert bar was amazing also! If I could , I would give it 10 stars! We drove an hour and 15 minutes to this place and I will be back! The entire facility including the bathrooms were spotless and beautiful! Waitress was top notch also!! Last time I was here was years ago when it was still Wulliver's (sp?)......I remember it being much better than the food we got off the smorgasbord tonight. We got there right at 4:00 when they opened. Our waitress was very friendly and was refilling drinks before we even had to ask. The food was average....my hubs even said it's about the same as Golden Corral. The mashed potatoes were runny and too thin. The breaded shrimp was wonderful. My husband said the corn was tough to chew and the green beans were very bland. Hagerstown is not the bustling adorable town it once was....so sad!! First and last time will be visiting Willie and Reds. Everything we ordered seemed like hospital food. My steak was ordered medium but came out extremely over well done . I told the waitress I would just eat it since took so long for our food to come out.Wife's Alfredo had zero flavor. She took one bite and said nope. I tasted and agree no flavor. She wanted to send back right away however the waitress never returned until delivering the bill at which point we informed her about it . She took it back and said owner said you're still paying full price ...no discounts are ever given .Then the waitress told us happens all the time and she doesn't recommend any pasta dishes it always gets sent back .the owner even went to cashier and informed them absolutely no discount .....I said we won't be back ever and would have never come in knowing that's owners attitude. So if there is a problem with your food don't expect it to be fixed or removed from bill or discounted ... you're paying full price. Terrible business practice... read more

Food was OK not the prior owners ( Welliver's ) quality. A bit pricey, the service was very good. The vegetable selection was very good and the meats were plentiful. The salads were very good. The meat selection was very good, beef, pork, and seafoods and even burgers. We enjoyed our meal and the waitress was very good also. She took the time to talk with her customers. We ate here obe last time before our move. We had brunch. It was $62.00 for 2 adults and 3 kids. We had 12 ppl at our table. The food quality has went down greatly since it were Welliver's. However they were veey accomodating and friendly. I would say their service is 5 stars. And honstly I wouldn't mind the prices if the food was better. I do not want to be to harsh on them but so feel if they are going to charge these prices they need to get back to traditional Welliver recipes. read more

My parents and I went to Willie & Red's last night for dinner. I hadn't been there in a few years and was looking forward to it because I remember really enjoying myself last time. First of all, their free cheeseball is so good. I love cheeseball and I love all you can eat cheeseball, so you know I was stopping by that station several times during dinner! They also give you complimentary taco dip and chips and veggies and dip. I liked both of those, but wish there would've been more because we ate it in about 5 seconds. My mom and I both ordered herb-crusted salmon with a house salad and a baked potato, and my dad ordered pork chops with a house salad and a baked potato. Willie & Red's makes their own blue cheese and ranch dressing in-house, so I suggest getting that because it was deeelicious. Unfortunately, my salmon didn't live up to my expectations. It came with two dipping sauces, a dill sauce and a wasabi sauce, and I'm really glad it did because it was very, very dry and a bit tasteless. The baked potato however was really good - it had a bunch of salt on the outside which I love. Overall, Willie & Red's was good. I like the atmosphere, our waitress was good, I like all the complimentary appetizers. I wish though that the salmon would've been better, but I would definitely go back and try something else. Visited here last Sunday night and won't be coming back anytime soon. They weren't busy at all, but took 20 minutes to bring out "ok" salads. Then another 35 minutes for main courses. Ordered fried chicken and it was barely warm. Waitress was "ok" but nothing special. The complimentary appetizer platter is really nothing anymore and I don't know why they even bother. My wife ordered the chicken livers that used to be so good. Now they are dry and just coated in a bunch of salty batter to make the serving look bigger. We ordered from the menu and didn't get a look at the buffet. In summary, they have turned in to nothing more than an O'Charley's etc. with slightly bigger portions. Attended Christmas dinner with an group on Saturday December 10th. Our group was assigned one side of the room; another group to the other. Noisy room with both groups in there. Unable to navigate to my table (in a wheelchair) without asking someone to get up and scoot their chair in, and I was on the outside table. Legs of the table are large, and it was difficult to get my wheelchair close to the table, but that's part of what you deal with in a w.c. Lines to get to the buffet were a bit long, ,especially since some people were waiting in line for more food to be brought out. They were out of mashed potatoes, and the only meat available when I was getting chow was chicken. It didn't bother me that they were out of several things; if you can't find something to eat at Willie and Red's you're not looking. Food was very good. My disappointment came from it being overbooked, and my group being packed in like sardines. Nice Christmas decorations, but one was blocking about 25% of the door to the restroom. Emergency exit in the back has two steps to go outside. It would have been a more pleasant experience had they not been overbooked. If you are or someone in your group use a wheelchair, I would have to go elsewhere. read more

We always get the buffet when we go and I'm starting to think that is no longer a good idea. I feel like the main buffet is always so bland. Everything kind of meshes together in a non-complimentary way. Not saying that the food we had was bad, but it really is not worth the price that you pay. The dessert bar is good with a nice selection. Typical salad bar. The main course area usually has a couple selecions of meat and one always being sliced by an employee who just stands there looking bored to death. I've yet to stop and try whatever they're slicing because the look on their face usually makes me feel like it would be a bother. Our waitresses have always been friendly and attentive. Just came back from eating at Willie and Reds smorgasbord in Haggerstown, IN. It was a complete waste for the drive!!!! The food was cold, chicken was pink, cobbler was cold, and nothing and I mean nothing is the same as when I used to go when it was called Guy Welliver back when the father was still living about 40 years ago. I cannot believe how stale and deformed the cinnamon bread was that I had to ask the waitress what the junk was. The bread looked like it was petrified. Visiting our family in Indiana and decided to give it a try. Our party of six was seated right away. We all chose the buffet. Our sever Abby was on the ball. Our drinks were always full and our used plates taken right away. Everything I had was delicious.
