Anyone who goes to Queens College knows damn well about the miserable state of food on or near campus. I've been here a handful of times, the meat is very expensive. When I came here initially I paid like $24 for the baby chicken shawarma. Now I just get the falafel, which comes with a lot of food, fries, and salad for about $7. OMG - the hustle, the bustle, the noise, the chaos, the ethnicity - the FOOD! Fabulousness. Have to make it just 4 stars bc it is just nowhere near a 5-star restaurant - no ambience, probably not the most sanitary, but who cares, the schwarma was TO DIE FOR. Yum. The side salads fantastic too. We all had the baby chicken (why is this a "baby?") schwarma. The fries were soggy and really, the dish would be fine frie-less. The beet salad was fantastic. This is flat out AMAZING. I've never had a bad experience and I've been coming here often. I've ordered about 5 kinds of eggplant dishes, 5 different salads, hummus 3 ways, lamb done two ways, chicken done three different ways, morroccan cigars, slaws and vegetable dishes. Every single thing was absolutely delicious and portions huge. I would drive from anywhere anytime to eat here. It's Kosher so they have burgers but you won't get cheese. Had falafel platter a bit pricy for falafel which was good . Tried to substitute 2 sides for the better salads (eggplant etc..) they said no do for 14dollars no hummus or even a little sampler of hummus baba eggplant I got decent Israeli salad and a selection of dead salads from pickle section. No one welcomed us to sit down waited on the line later found out it was to go line. Then waiter told us to just sit anywhere. Went there on a Friday. Lady behind the counter was downright nasty and yelled at the cashier for not telling me to take the receipt to the counter after paying. Felt like she was doing me a favor getting me a falafel. Not many people in the shop but took 25 minutes for it to be ready. You can get an idea of what this place is like from the reviews. The service is not that great - even when the place is empty the waitresses and girl at the cash register make you wait for no reason. However, the food is excellent. People talk about the shawarma's - the hummus is excellent! People who've always eaten junk hummus don't know what hummus tastes like until they taste hummus done right like here. I've had both shawarma's as a plate and as a pita and I prefer the pita. Both the turkey/lamb and baby chicken are good, whatever you're in the mood for, if they ask if they should put tahini, hot sauce and hummus in it I always say yes, yes and yes. This place is terrible ! I sat down with 2 of my friends to eat. We get our food and my friend takes a bite and realizes that there was tehina inside . She's allergic to sesame seeds and tehina is made out of it. Not a big deal from one bite, she was fine. We kindly asked the waitress to please make a new one with no sesame seeds, bc my friend is allergic. They said okay no problem. The second shawarma comes, they still put tehina and hummus inside when we clearly asked them not to bc of the allergies. Her lip swelled up after eating that one. She only took like 3 bites then she couldn't eat it. We then started telling them that they still put stuff that require sesame seeds when we said not to. The waitress then had the nerve to say that hummus doesn't contain sesame. When it clearly does ! But besides that, they still put tehina ! We were charged for both of those remakes but it's not about the money. After this incident , 30 minutes later the swelling went down . Then an hour and 30 min later, she had a terrible allergy attack and had to be taken to the emergency room. Fuck you grill point , never eating here AGAIN! There are so many better shawarma places out there , plus they will actually listen to people when we say to not put certain things. If I could rate this zero stars I really would.! read more

Great Swarma and a good price for the size. Many below complain about the shwarma, well you guys are used to Americanized shwarma, this is North African authentic style (I've taken visitors from the middle east and even a Moroccan born friend there and they say it tastes authentic), Get it in a lafa (much bigger than the pita for only an extra buck). They offer Hummas, Tahina, Shu'ug, Harif, etc themselves and its great. Warning the Harif is extremely hot so get very little and make sure you have Hummus to break the heat. Also they have Israeli style fries that are great inside also ask them to put in Israeli Salads. Also try the Adona Kabob, spcicy and great tasing, and they have a good schnitzle. and everything comes with a side salad. Take the food to go, they have a little sitting area in the back for waiterservice but its cramped and not worth it, but its great for takeout. If you like savory, fatty or spicy middle eastern food, this is the take out place for you. I normally don't write reviews for places the same day I try them but I am inspired by the falafel I ate here tonight and I don't care how ridiculous that might sound. I admit that I haven't eaten many falafels in my lifetime so I don't have a lot to compare the one I ate tonight to but once I took a bite into my Grill Points falafel I was so so so happy that I ordered it. The poetry that is created by this unassuming little place is beautiful. My pita was stuffed with falafel balls and hummus and cucumbers and sauce and it all tasted so good together that while I was savoring the taste I was thinking about giving a hug to the man that made it for me. The falafel is one of the cheapest things on the menu and so for five dollars you get the falafel and anything from the salad bar, which includes sides like cole slaw and cucumber salad. I'm so sorry that I discovered this place during my last semester at Queens College and not before but I will definitely try to trek off campus more often to visit Grill Point. read more

Finally I have the chance to sit down and review this place. This is a place where you will typically find an eclectic mix of Mediterranean, Orthodox Jews, and other various cultures sitting alongside eachother eating some delicious schwarma. I have tried the Chicken Schwarma, Lamb Schwarma, & Baby Chicken Schwarma (Don't worry, its not really baby's), all served in a hot fresh pita, with all the fixings (vegetables, tahini sauce, some spicy sauce). In addition, the meal comes with free mixed salad from the salad bar. Every time I go here, I am glad I did, the servers are very friendly, the food is fresh (and Kosher), and I always leave with my stomach full and a smile on my face. Best of all, in a neighborhood that is extrememly Jewish and where everything closes early or does not open at all on Friday or Saturday, this is one place which stays open really late every night (I think until 3am), so it is always a good place to grab a bite to eat to sober up after the bar. I am a frequent guest at Grill Point. It's one of my favorite restaurants. Their specialty is Schwarma, either chicken or lamb/turkey, falafal. They have amazing pita, hummus and a really good salad bar. The servers are friendly and they charge a fair price. They also have plenty of other options besides what i've already listed including, tasty grilled chicken cutlets or beef/chicken skewers. Sides are tasty also and include, rice, eggplant, and more. As good as the food is and as much as people appreciate the place, I had a uniquely bad experience which turned me off from this establishment. I am a tutor for a special needs boy, and as a treat, I decided to take him to Grill Point. We sat at a table but were brushed away like yesterday's lunch. the waitress said the tables were only for people ordering from the menu. i'm sorry we weren't wearing tuxedos, but who is she to judge what and how we were going to order. We were ushered to a window counter with high bar stools. this proved difficult for my student. I was upset and embarrassed. The place where I was humbled by the fact that vegan food could ever taste that good - if not better than with meat! Also the place where I fell in love with the all mighty and holy falafel. So delicious yet so cheap, and it's quite a hefty and packed pita - stuffed with so much food you could imagine.
