I had a question about my ticket so my child and I went to the ticket area and I told her to sit in the chair while I waited online. Two workers were helping someone who didn't speak English so he called someone to help him. They all argued for 20mins while I stood there. While they were arguing another worker came over and told us that it wasn't a waiting room and removed the chair my daughter was sitting in. The waiting area was dirty, there wasn't enough outlets/charging stations. If you wanted to see the status of the bus you had to walk outside the waiting area and walk over to the ticket area. The waiting area door was broken making the room very cold. Security came in checking tickets and kicked people out who didn't have one. They later came back later on. People walked in asking for money. A rider stood in the middle of the waiting area talking to someone on the phone when she suddenly started yelling and cursing that they were the devil, they were monkeys and other random things. Pigeons kept walking in since the door was broken. There were no bathrooms in the area. You had to take escalators downstairs to the mostly empty area for the bathrooms. The staff told us the wrong bus line up. This was also different from what the tv screen was showing. Someone was sitting in the assigned seat I ordered. Normally wouldn't care but it was midnight and I had my child with me. While riding the bus someone was loudly yelling watching/listening to something without headphones. read more

If you wanna come back from new york at night, just walk. The worst experience of my whole entire, i paid half price before on a bus and had a better experience. First of all, it is extremely unhygienic it smelt like feces and urine, i couldn't accustom to the smell that was upon first entering the bus by the way. There were visible stains on the seats and everywhere. The ac didn't work, the plugs also didn't work. As for the duration, well to be honest it suprised me because greyhound neglected to mention our 20 minute detour at deleware. for no apparent reason we stopped people could get off and what waste time? that was an hour into the trip by the way. I would give this no stars if possible. I booked a 13 hour trip from Atlanta to DC and paid about $500. When we boarded the bus it was dirty. Food crumbs and trash in the seats. Looked like the back of the chairs in front of us had never been cleaned. None of the seatbelts worked either. Seats were tight and uncomfortable. No soap or sanitizer in the bathroom. The ride was subcontracted to another bus service is what I could gather, called FlixBus. So basically I had to ride in a dirty trash can for 13 hours. This was my first and last experience riding the bus. Worst experience ever, especially at that price. I've had plane tickets that have cost less. But I guess they were price gouging as multiple people were stuck in Atlanta due to cancelled flight. I have PTSD. Spend your money elsewhere. read more

No food or water.After finding an alternative way home that cost way more money I reached out for a refund as I did not receive the full service due to their terrible equipment. Arrived to drop off and parked in the 20 minute parking but couldn't due to "construction." A worker walked past me to my car and asked knowingly if I was parked in the drop off spot. I was barked at that I couldn't park in the area and needed to move my car immediately by a worker around 2am and then he threatened to call security on me. In this matter what I did not appreciate was his manner, tone and body language towards me. When I told the worker I'd just be dropping off my brother he told me to either move my car or he was getting security. It was very off putting as there was no signs and he was rude for no reason. As he said that a nice security officer did show and let me know there was construction happening and instructed me to park on the H st bridge. Long story short: I advise anyone reading this to be very wary of traveling with Greyhound. We've been trying to get back to New York since Sunday. We've tried planes, trains, rental cars, Lyfts, and Ubers, and all reservations we've made were cancelled, including at least two Greyhound buses. Finally, we were able to book a 1:00am Wednesday Greyhound to Newark from DC. In the meantime, we were able to get on an Amtrak train headed north this afternoon, so we attempted to cancel our bus tickets, which we believed to be refundable. After Greyhound cancelling two of the buses that we had planned on (and even made flight arrangements to meet), they offered us a "20% refund in the form of a voucher." We spoke to customer service, and they refused to offer anything else, despite THEIR cancellations and this week's blizzard. It's infuriating and despicable, and I'm obviously pissed. I have never experienced such horrible transportation service than when I did with Greyhound. It cold early December and I was traveling to Atlantic City for my birthday with my 70 year old aunt. The bus arrived 4 hours late. The staff did not provide any updates nor apologies. Returning home was no better, we made a stop in Delaware. The driver told us we had to get off of bus because she had to get gas. We stood in the freezing cold for two hours waiting for her to return. I have diabetes and my aunt has heart problems. This was the most horrific traveling experience ever. I do not understand why Greyhound is still in business. They have no compassion let alone respect for customers, poor communication and antiquated buses. Whomever owns this company needs to be held accountable for the quality of service or lack thereof. Completely unreliable and fraudulent services. This is not the same company I used in college. The buses either a late/delayed for no explainable reasons or they do not show up at all, leaving one stranded. The latter is what happened to me a few days ago and I had to fall back on the train and pay extra for parking at the station, costing me over $300. I reported this to Greyhound corporate and they gave me a run around before hanging up the phone and emailed them and they offered me less than 10percent of what I paid for the ticket. This was the most awful experience ever!! First off, I had a ticket on a sold out bus on my travels there, less than 2 hours before my bus, they cancel it! They barely give any notice and the email came late to let us know. I had to find an alternate bus to get me to my destination. The even bigger problem was on the way back, they missed my stop! My stop was on some random street corner off an exit. The bus missed the exit and continued down the highway leaving me and at least 5 others without a ride. The company had only one other bus to offer a whole day later. All they could do to compensate the fact they missed my stop and inconvenience me severely was offer a refund or a bus extremely later than when i needed to me home. Stay away from Greyhound! I booked a trip to NY from DC for their FlixBus, which I'd heard had extra legroom, free wifi, and entertainment services. Bus wasn't there when I got on line, but that happens and I was okay with the slight delay. But the bus that arrived was not a FlixBus. It was not even a Greyhound bus! It was some generic white charter bus that was cramped and gross. I got on and someone was in my seat. The driver didn't bother to get everyone in their assigned seat on the stop before ours so there was chaos while he tried to get everyone situated. My son boarded a bus at Union Station heading for St. Louis. He called us late at night from Pittsburgh to tell us the trip was canceled and Greyhound stranded him there with no alternate route or assistance, and no refund. This was the worst experience I've ever had in my life. The station is disgusting, dirty and crawling with cockroaches. The staff are rude and not helpful at all. To make things worse, they won't let you leave the station once you enter. There was no place to sit so I had to stand for 2 1/2 hours. I travelled to Washington on United Airlines and my connection was cancelled. My only option was to take the bus. I was up all night and exhausted. 1st time riding Greyhound and I will not repeat. I took a trip from DC to Chicago and had a terrible experience. The first thing I noticed were the employees who had horrible customer service skills..not sure if this was due to apathy or lack of training but I wasn't able to find employees who wanted to answer questions without being rude and giving attitude. Secondly was the sketchy clientele this bus service seems to cater to. Whether it was the constant smell of marijuana coming from the other bus riders, repeatedly getting hit up for money, or listening to the 3rd person discuss how they recently got out of jail..I don't think many riders, including families, would feel comfortable in this environment. Thirdly was the deteriorating equipment. The power outlets on the bus didn't work, the Wifi was as slow as dial up, and the AC was broken. The bathrooms at the Greyhound Transit Stations were beyond disgusting. Fourth, I did not arrive on time to and from my destination. I was 4 hours late to my scheduled time to Chicago due to the buses being late. I was 2 hours late coming back from Chicago because there were some maintenance issues with the bus. Greyhound is a hot mess. I showed up to take a bus to New York and there were lines with signs for A, B, C, and D, but no mention of which letter of the alphabet you're supposed to line up in on your ticket. I asked a worker which line I should get in and while he was grumpy about it, he did direct me to line A. As we waited in line for the bus, another Greyhound worker came around to check tickets and make sure everyone was in the correct line. The bus was scheduled to depart at 1:45pm, but it didn't show up until 2:20pm. There was poor communication from Greyhound up until 2:20pm when the bus arrived. While we stood there waiting, someone went to customer service to find out how long the wait would be - their response? "We don't know, we can't find the bus." That doesn't sound like a good way to retain customers. When the bus was located (aka pulled into Union Station), Greyhound made a garbled announcement on the PA system that the bus had arrived and would board in 20-30 minutes. This estimate was accurate. I left and came back exactly 20 minutes later, when they made the announcement that it was last call to board the bus. As for the bus ride itself, this was a nicer and newer bus. The seats were roomy, WiFi was working, and there were also plugs to charge your phone. Not all of the seats had foot rests - I sat towards the middle of the bus and noticed foot rests only for seats towards the front. About the WiFi - while they do have free movies that you can stream if you download an app, you get 100MB of free WiFi and then it stops working. If you want more WiFi, you gotta buy it. That was disappointing - next time I think I will go Peter Pan. This felt like the longest bus ride. We were on it for over five hours, and that was after waiting an hour for the bus to leave DC. In addition to one planned stop in Baltimore, we made two other pit stops. The first one was at the Delaware House rest stop. It was around dinner time and we were given 10 minutes to leave and come back for bathroom breaks, grab something to eat, etc. Then we stopped a second time when we were about an hour away from our destination. The driver pulled into the rest stop, but didn't let us get off nor did she communicate what was going on. My guess? She just needed to stretch her legs. When we arrived in New York, the next group of people were waiting in line, anxious to board. With delay after delay, Greyhound either needs to get some spare buses and drivers on hand to keep things moving and customers happy, or at least notify people in advance when they know the schedule has been delayed. And please, do a better job of tracking your buses and drivers. "We can't find the bus" should never be a response. I think I'm through with Greyhound. Competitive pricing - yes, but dependable and a quality experience? No. read more

The bus on the return trip was over two hours late, when I called customer service during those two hours of waiting I was informed the bus already arrived at the station and left (which was not true) so they couldn't rebook me, so I purchased another ticket (around $90) to get home. Five to ten minutes later, the first bus shows up. Greyhound would not refund me for either ticket. Be aware that your bus could be many hours late without your knowing when it will actually show up. Absolutely horrible service. I was notified at the laat minute of a severe travel delay once i was already at the bus station. Traveling with a disabled person i made other acvomodations that were most comfortable for us but I was penalized for their severe service delay and unable to recoup my money in its full amount after I was told by a representative that I would receive a voucher credit for the full amount of what I paid. I did not receive the voucher and it is so difficult to resolve issues through customer service because they don't have a phone number and they communicate all through email but there are multiple agents you will communicate with so although one agent promises one thing the other may not. Totally unorganized and not honorable to their word even when it's in writing. I will never recommend this service. read more

My bus was delayed in Cleveland by one hour. The bus had a mechanical issue, and we sat on it for about 45 minutes (with no A/C) before we all got off and got on a new bus. At that point I knew I would miss my connection in Pittsburgh to get me the rest of the way to D.C. I spent 45 minutes on hold with their customer service team, and when I finally got through, they told me they weren't able to even be in touch with the Pittsburgh station to let them know that our bus was delayed. So, they were useless. Upon arrival in Pittsburgh, we learned the connection bus had departed without us. Employees showed no sympathy or understanding, and when I mentioned I had tried to call they said that they don't even have a phone at the Pittsburgh station, which is ridiculous. I was not offered a refund, and could not be rebooked until 20 hours after my original bus, resulting in numerous extra costs on my end. This was a complete logistical breakdown on Greyhound's part, definitely do not recommend taking Greyhound. read more

Greyhound is my only option other than Amtrak to get to Raleigh and it's awful every single time. When you go to Raleigh from DC you have to stop in Richmond. When I went for Christmas last December the bus was an hour late and then when it finally got there it was full so we had to wait another 30mins for another bus. Then because we left late we had to wait for another connecting bus out of Richmond. I said something on twitter to greyhound and their response was "unexpected delays" bull crap. When I emailed customer service and sent them the pic attached they gave me a full refund. Now today, I'm literally on the bus as we speak, once again, the bus was an hour late, they NEVER say anything about delays until it's obvious. The bus was supposed to come at 1:20, its 1:45 and they finally announced "the bus is late and should be here by 1:50" it wasn't. It didn't get there til 2:10. Then when we finally got to Richmond they never told us what door to go to so I ended up getting on the wrong bus because the other one left but the one I got on is also going to Raleigh. Idk. On December 27th, 2021 was one of the most unreal days of my life taking GREYHOUND. I arrived at 1:34 AM for my 1:45 AM bus to NYC from DC, as usual I would go to confirm with the Spanish or African American  manager at the DC Station ask what line to stand in etc for boarding. Just a brief backdrop I have been using GREYHOUND since  2015 and I have never had any issue before with any of the representatives or bus drivers. So I joined the line and there a woman infront of me and we were in line [E] and that bus was heading to BALTIMORE, NEWARK, and NYC. Line [C] was heading to PHILLY, THEN NYC. So there were other customers waiting in line [C] for the PHILLY routed bus and when we stood in line [E] one of the young men in line[C] said that we should join their line and I knew he was wrong because this was like my 4th time for the month of December 2021 I was taking this bus. But I kept quite, mine you this is around 1:38 AM and we are still waiting to be boarded. When boarding says arrive 20 minutes prior to departure. So finally the 1:45 am bus pulls up around 1:40 am and it was fairly empty to my surprise being it was a holiday weekend. The baggage assistant was smoking a cigarette , so they opened the baggage compartment and the manager started announcing this the 1:45 am bus to NYC, stopping at BALTIMORE, NEWARK, and NYC. He said it 3 times clearly and I knew it as well because I have taken this 1:45 am bus 3 times already for December. So I said kindly go to have your bag loaded she was infront of me and I said it three times to her said no! That the bus is going to PHILLY I said fine. Clearly she was not paying attention when the DC Greyhound bus Manager announced clearly that this bus is not going the PHILLY ROUTE. So I step out of the rope and loaded my bag to entire the bus at 1:41 am the baggage person said why did you skip ahead of the woman and I said I did not or was trying to be rude, especially being that the bus only had about 5 passengers on board and only 5 passengers on the line. So he said remove your bag so in compliance and out of respect for his jurisdiction I removed my bag and went back in the line and he kept talking and tried to explain that I was not being rude or disrespectful. That I come all the time to this Station and I have never disrespected anyone in this place, I have great respect for the service you guys provide. He and the Spanish Driver MATT KING said get this man out of here call the POLICE on him at that point I was so shocked and said how could this situation escalate that quick and the DRIVER saying do not run up on him. I was so shocked! They went on to call the Spanish gentleman from the desk I went to minutes prior and the manager and all four of them threw me of the bus, while I was pleading with the manager to explain that you know me from coming every week and I have tremendous respect for you guys and always thought so highly of you. Why would you guys do this to me and I have to get to work at 8:30 am. He did not give me a chance to explain, I took a picture of the DRIVER and BAGGAGE and I said I will escalate this matter to corporate and take legal action he said you can even call DAVE LEACH the baggage guy. The security girl came and removed my bag and I went to the MEGA BUS and heard what happened and took me for free and apologized for that experience. I was so heart broken, it really caught me off guard and I saw how people, BLACK MALES lose their lives senselessly, how did that interaction with a well dressed professional escalated to calling the cops for a simple misunderstanding. I will take legal action against greyhound for discrimnation and endangering my life. The address here doesn't seem quite right but I couldn't find anything more accurate than that) Pros +Outlet in between two seats so that both the window and aisle seat passengers can reach outlet. On Tripper Bus, for instance, the window is on the window side so if you're sitting with someone you don't know, you have to awkwardly reach around them. +Seat belts (the shoulder + lap ones) at every seat +Black leather/pleather seats +I felt like I had a little more leg room than in other buses I've taken (Tripper, Bolt, Megabus) but admittedly, I haven't taken one in a few months Cons: -Punctuality is key in the bus world. If you can't even leave on time, how can you possibly reach your destination in time? The answer: You can't. I understand that traffic is unpredictable so a bus arriving late b/c it's coming from another location is to be expected. However, on my return trip, the empty bus was already awaiting us at Norfolk and still we left 15 minutes late. At Richmond, everyone was seated and the driver was there and again, we still left late (though just 5 minutes). Even though it's not a hugely significant amount of time, one delayed departure leads to another delayed arrival leads to another -- you get the point. -After being impressed by the presence of seat belts and the outlets being in a neutral location, I was chagrined that my bus on the return trip had neither of those features.
