The place is small, and sometimes people are waiting without a seat. The trains, most of them, are on time. The staff there is not helpful, internet will answer more questions than them. The have a shuttle to the airport for free which it is usually dalyed. read more

Several great experiences w Amtrak. This station is easy to locate, has 2 huge parking garages, clean premises, convenient elevators, etc. There is a station w vending machines, tv, and seats. I usually bypass the indoor option in excitement of waiting on my train. Amtrak is my fav to travel to and from New York City. The trains are on time 95% of the time, clean cabins, smooth ride, spacious bathrooms, comfy canteen, amazing employees, etc. I have also taken the train as far as Hampton, VA and it was a smooth, scenic, and peaceful ride. I am Amtrak's number 1 fan, and I look forward to many many more experiences riding the rails. read more

This station is a great option for many types of travel, and areas of travel. Parking is plentiful and easy. There are bathrooms available. You can use this statoin to get to Boston, MA. You can use this station to get to Virginia Beach, VA. Or use this station as a starting point to get to DC or other stations that allow you to travel to Florida ect. Many options really. You can get a few snacks to take with you if you do not like what the train is offering. There is a free shuttle to take you to the airport. There are plenty of signs to help. AMTRAK is a great way to travel, with very little stress. read more

The BWI Amtrak station is clean and generally easy to navigate, which I appreciate. However, it's definitely on the smaller side, and I wish there were more amenities or things to do while waiting for a train. It gets the job done, but it would be nice if the station offered a bit more for travelers. Overall, it's fine, just not especially convenient if you have a long wait. read more

First time using the train station here at BWI. Note that it is off airport so if you are coming from the airport you'll need to catch a shuttle or if you are driving in it has its own parking garages surrounding the actual train station. I took Amtrak for the first time this past weekend. Yes I know I'm super late to the party! This might be my new mode of transportation. I was in Manhattan in under three hours! Woot! There is a parking garage with fair daily rates. I paid $21 for a few days - much cheaper than an Uber ride! The station is small with a few options to purchase snacks in the waiting area. The restrooms are clean. Tickets can be bought on-site, but I got mine in advance online and I went ahead and downloaded the Amtrak app. They announce when the train is approaching and at that point, get outside to the designated track! This Amtrak station is a very nice option for travel up and down the Northeast corridor, but the facilities are minimal. The bathrooms are clean and functional, and there is a snack bar of sorts. The biggest challenge I faced, however what that the station seems to be in a cellular desert! I was unable to reliably text my travel status to family members due to poor cellular coverage. Eventually, I got a text through when I stood outside. Perhaps it is just my provider (Verizon) or the day but watch out for this potential limitation! read more

I enjoy riding the Amtrak whenever I fly to the East Coast. I have flown into Baltimore a couple times and have taken the train over to D.C. and to NYC. So I have been to this rail station before. I like that BWI Marshall Airport offers a free shuttle ride over. The rail station itself isn't very large or 24 hrs, but it is a nice quick stop to get you to your next destination. They service both Amtrak and MARC trains. Tickets can be bought at the ticket counter or at a machine if you didn't do it online beforehand. BWI Rail Station also has a snack bar with packaged snacks, fruit and drinks. The bathrooms definitely needed some cleaning when I was last here. read more

BWI, MD- Penn Station, NY This is a very convenient way to travel between MD & NYC. With the options of choosing between slow train and slightly faster train. Service wise, there isn't much service needed, unless you go to the meal cart or have issues. Tickets checking service was timely. Cleanliness of the train definitely has room for improvement. Tables were not always wiped down. Food crumbs were seen almost all the time. Because of this reason i always carry my own wipes. Personally, best time to catch this train is early morning. Cheap, quiet, and no crowds. Be aware. The slow train does run a bit different than the faster train, for people who are prone to motion sickness might want to be careful when riding the faster train. read more

This Amtrak/ Marc station is NOT 24/7. This station closes early. I once found out the hard way, when I took the last train from Boston, and got here at 2am. They close the station at 9:45pm and re open at 4:45am. No bathrooms or outlets. Luckily, I went before exiting my train, and charged my phone fully. I took the MTA bus here, I didn't drive here, but will in the future. I think it's $9 daily parking. At first I was a little scared, ain't gonna lie, but there's cameras every where and the airport shuttle comes like every 25 minutes. I didnt wanna take an Uber, $100 to get home. Welp I wing it for 2.5 hours. Sang to myself... watched a cheesy movie on Netflix, and Shortly afterwards Amtrak police came to me and asked if I was ok. He heard me sing. Smh. I was embarrassed sorta. He suggested I waited under the airport waiting area, and that there's a heating area. So I won't get cold. The MTA 201 first bus to Gaithersburg comes at 5am. It's an 1.5 hour ride ugh to the end of the line. The platforms aren't very well lit like others. So try to use the buddy system of your traveling alone, when this station is closed. It's small Amtrak station. . Not very comfy seats. There are kiosks to print out your tixs. A few charging outlets. Bathrooms are small but clean. Amtrak employees are nice here and professional. This station is getting a bad wrap for some reason. It is easily accesible, has tons of parking available in the nearby garage, has a free shuttle to and from the airport (24/7), a decent waiting room, and a snack bar. They also had a few cabs waiting out front You can purchase tickets for the trains here a few ways. You can get it ahead of time on line, like I did. Or you can go to one of the kiosks in the waiting area. Or you can go to the ticket counter. Whatever floats your boat. They are all pretty easy, but you may get a better deal purchasing early on-line. I saw the price of my ticket creep up as my travel date was getting closer. I spent a lot of time in the waiting area and it was clean, relatively quiet, and had a decent amount of status boards that keep travelers up to date on their train's status. They also make announcements. They have status boards outside as well. On a nice day, that is a good place to hang out. There are 2 tracks, track 1 and track 3. If you have a train on track 3, just be aware that it will take you a few extra minutes to get there because you have to go up and over to get there. This is a nice and economical option to get you from BWI to Maryland or DC. It connects to the metro line. I caught it at New Carrolton. It worked perfectly and saved my lots of $$. I do recommend bringing some music with headphones and/or a laptop or iPad to help you pass the time. They do not have a television or any music available while you wait and it will also help you pass time on the train as well. I really like this little station. It is a formidable transportation option and if you work it right, it can be cost effective. The facility is pretty nice as well and I enjoyed my transit through there. read more

Very convenient stop for the Amtrak. There's a free shuttle between the train station and the airport terminal that runs every day. Every 10 Minutes from 5AM to 1AM and every 25 minutes from 1AM to 5AM. This gives people options of flying out and maybe catching the train back if it's cheaper. That's what I did. I was able to get an $82 Spirit flight from BWI to CLT. However, the Flights back were too expensive like $290 and up one way. I was happy to find a CLT to BWI train ticket for $82. The train left CLT at 5:21 and we Arrived on the to the BWI Amtrak station at 2:36 PM on Saturday 11/11/23. The free shuttle back to the airport terminal arrived at 2:49. read more

It's a train station. Not really much to see here. It's conveniently located near BWI airport and very easy to get to. This was my first time coming since they renovated the station to it is vastly improved from years ago. Still needs a little work done to the pedestrian bridge that takes you to the southbound track. There is plenty of parking in the garage that is right in front of the station. Rates are $9.00 a day. If you are going to be picked up or dropped off there isn't much space. There is a public bus stop and the shuttle from the airport makes a stop here too. If you pay to park you must take your ticket with you and pay at the kiosks before you go back to your car. They do have an attendant at the exit sometimes but I wouldn't count on it. I purchased my train tickets in advance online so I didn't need to go the new ticket counter. If I it are going to wait outside at the tracks you will be exposed to the elements because the area is not enclosed. Overall it's a decent place to catch the train. read more

I like flying from DCA since I can take metro. BWI is farther but has Amtrak and the Marc train. The ticket station has an employee. I did not understand everything she said. She was on "auto pilot." The Marc train has self pay machines where you can order your ticket ( as low as $ 7). Amtrak is more expensive. Amtrak & the Marc Train share the same tracks. Track Three was where I boarded for Union Station. The area is nearby. Just pay attention to the signs. The Marc Train was delayed three times while I waited. I wasn't in a hurry but I would budget more time if I were taking the train to the airport. The seats were comfy and clean. I sat on the lower deck since I had luggage. read more

There are many options to travel within the Northeast - plane, car, bus, or train.,  Each option has its pros and cons and each option ranges in terms of price, availability, convenience, and total travel time.  I was traveling from Baltimore to New York and the best option for me in terms of price, availability, convenience and travel time was Amtrak Train.  Amtrak is the train service within the United States and they are known for transporting a lot of people in a lower cost but also not have the greatest quality of service - this is definitely NOT European train travel.  The most popular route for Amtrak is probably the Northeast Corridor which provides service between Washington, D.C. to Boston with stops in Baltimore, Philadelphia, Delaware, New Jersey and New York.  Because it is the most popular they have timings throughout the day starting early in the morning until late evening.  There are also 2 different trains going - the Acela which is the business class or the regular class trains.  Since we were going for a leisure trip we booked the regular fare on the regular train - this review is a compilation of three different trips that I took on the same route. I had picked up the train at the BWI Airport Station - this was the second major stop on the train as the first major stop was in Washington, D.C.  Sometimes the train started from D.C. and sometimes it started from other stations but a lot of individuals got on at certain stations - I had chosen the BWI Airport station because it was convenient to park and it was spacious so it was easier to get on the train.  The fare that I had booked did not have assigned seating so you choose whichever open seating was available.  I had booked the ticket online and had downloaded the ticket through my phone app; booking the ticket online was very convenient but trying to modify or change the ticket online proved extremely difficult and Amtrak customer service was not helpful. The trains that I took generally were scheduled to depart Baltimore BWI Airport Station in the afternoon - 3p to 4p - and arrive into New York around 7pm or 8pm.  When the train arrived, there was a noticeable smell of the restroom that permeated the train - it was not a great welcome to train travel.  Once we got on, the train was laid out in a 2-2 section with every seat being an aisle or window - thankfully there were no middle seats.  As I said, there were no assigned seats so you just choose whichever open seat was available.  Some individuals would put their luggage on the seat to prevent people from sitting but by the third station this had to be removed given the volume of people arriving. The seat itself was wide and felt comfortable but the seat-pitch or legroom was a bit tight.  Each seat contained a tray table to work on and power ports next to the window.  Wifi was supposedly available in the train but it did not always work.  Overall, the train looked and felt decent but a little worn for wear so it needed to be updated and upgraded. In the end, we arrive into New York City Penn Station generally on time.  I also took the train on the reverse routing - New York to Baltimore - and the train was the same but in NY station there are many tracks but you do not know which track your train is on.  The track is announced 30 minutes prior and everyone has to rush down a tiny escalator to the appropriate train track.  Whomever designed it was not thinking about when it was a large volume of people and it is extremely annoying to take a train like that. Given all this, would I take the train again?  It would not be my first choice and the price would have to be right.  If you book in advance, there are plenty of airline and bus options in a variety of choices that can provide the same service so in the future those would be my first choice; if the price was right and no other options were available, then I would not avoid the train. read more

This station is still under construction. Plenty of garage parking @ $9 per day. There is a temporary trailer for people to sit/bathroom/eat/wait. the train departure/arrival stations are located inside of the stairwells now. There is a free shuttle that will take you to the airport that runs pretty frequent. This station has stops for the Amtrak, Marc Train and shuttles to the airport. There are always plenty of taxi cabs lined up outside as well. There's 2 elevators on either side of the platform to take you to the other side. I've seen quite a few folks who thought they were getting on the AMTRAK accidentally get on the MARC train. Please pay attention. If you accidentally get on the marc train, you will still be charged and you might loose your money for the amtrak. The Marc train only runs from Baltimore, MD to Union Station in DC. Also, outside of the garage they have 2 marc train kiosks and about 5 stations to pay for ur garage parking. Altho it said place ur credit or debit card in its own specific slot, u actually put ur card onto the same slot as your parking ticket. Smh read more

This rail station is located not at the airport but a shuttle ride away. Lyft and Uber were abundantly available from my friend's house about 8 minutes away where we parked to cut the cost of transportation. You can save some dough on driving and parking or taking a Lyft/Uber/cab: take the Light Rail to the BWI Airport for super-cheap fare (under $2 per person one way) but then will need to transfer via a free shuttle, so if you have the time and patience and proper clothing if it's cold out and not too much luggage (lots of "ifs"), you could seriously save money to spend at your destination rather than on the transportation. As of December 2018, the station is undergoing major construction, and the brick-and-mortar building that used to stand by the platform has been demolished to make a bigger, better, more modern station. There's a temporary station, a large trailer, off to side, but we chose to bear the winter weather and avoid crowding in with a bunch of strangers. Arrive early, read all signage, put the phone away while walking, and make sure you have your ticket when you board. read more

Parking is plenty here and it's a max of only nine dollars a day. I park and travel out of here even when I take long trips. They have cops patrolling the area every time I'm there. To include the parking garage. They do have an attendant booth but it's more efficient to take your parking ticket and pay at the machine before going back to your vehicle. You still have 30 minutes to leave after that so plenty of time. The station is small so no large crowds. Inside you have a train ticket booth and automated ticket systems, very clean and nice bathrooms, and a little shop that is much like any other store inside an airport terminal. The people here are often better in general. A few days ago kids waiting on a train were throwing a football over by the parking area while waiting. It's really family friendly. The staff are always better more friendly people than in the bigger stations. read more

So, this is the BWI stop for Amtrak and the MARC, but it's not actually at BWI. It's a five-ish minute drive, so thankfully, the station is right next to a big parking garage, and there's a free shuttle bus to BWI that stops by every few minutes, pretty much around the clock. Maybe unsurprisingly, the station doesn't have a ton to offer, but it's got the basics. It's mostly outdoors, which means you're exposed to the elements. There's a small indoor area where you can purchase your tickets at little kiosks, and that area has indoor seating and vending machines. But it's mostly glass and not super well insulated, so don't arrive too early thinking this is a good place to kill time or hang out! Luckily, the trains pretty much always run on time. read more

I take Amtrak pretty often with no problem. The ride is always convenient and easy. I typically take the ride from bwi to ny penn or new Rochelle. I've done a trip to/from Philly and returning from Hartford. Hartford - I had to get off in Philly be cause of a train derailment in Chester. Tonight I returned to bwi and the train did something I have not quite seen! We pulled up to the center track after 10 minutes of trying to figure out why we were stopping but could not see the walkway. We then heard the trains horns. Afterwards we received communication that everyone would have to proceed to the cafe car to exit. It was not until we go to the doors that we saw the conductors helping people down some very steep steps and a makeshift bridge to cross the tracks. I appreciate the courtesy of the conductors. They were kind and helpful. Just a recommendation- A bit of communication would have been nice so people didn't panic when they got off and saw the middle track. This also was not conducive to a person who may not have been able to use a stairway. read more

It's my favorite transport facility for when I travel to Airport. Thanks to their schedule that runs from 4 am to 11pm. If not for MARC trains I would have spent so much on parking at the airports as I have been traveling a lot these days. It's a double decker train with plenty of seats. I have never seen them full. Very clean and comfortable seats and they also have space to keep your small bags. I wish they had WiFi for people traveling regularly to work from Baltimore to DC. You must have a ticket as ticket officers come to check it regularly. Ticket price varies from $8 to $13 based on your distance of travel. Never board without a ticket. I have never faced delays but I have heard from the friends on some of their delays either being delayed or getting cancelled due to technical reasons. I keep my fingers crossed every time I travel. read more

This is such a tiny train station, which makes sense since it's only at the airport but this train station needs more signage. If you have never been here and you get let off at this station you will not know where to go because there are no signs. Our train dropped us on track 3 and we literally had no idea where we were. I ended up following a guy who knew where he was going who directed both my mom and I and another woman who had also never been. If it were not for him we'd still be standing on track 3 maybe that's a bit of an exaggeration but still. Amtrack also doesn't provide much information. But if you are on track 3 you take stairs or elevator up to I guess the second floor, cross the walkway, and take elevator or stairs down to ground floor. Again, no signage for the station or how to leave. When we left our trip and had to be back at the station we had no idea that we even had to come back here but we did . Again the station is tiny, there's not a lot of information. You can sit inside and there is an attendant and a small convenience stand. Track 1 is northbound, track 3 is southbound. That's my advice for you! We weren't familiar with the area and again no signage really to say where you are. We weren't sure if where we were was the entire train station or not so when we called an Uber we just hoped for the best with the geo location. It did appear you could also shuttle to airport. Also when we went in August 2021, you had to wear masks and if you didn't they would shamefully make an announcement on the speaker. The bathrooms were also not in service and they had temporary bathrooms set outside so you have to exit the building and go to the trailer bathrooms (which were actually nice). read more

After a long journey of rescheduling of the travel plans, I knew Amtrak would be the last leg. & even at 8pm, you still want to be able to be addressed & assisted with some sort of professionalism. But hey, I guess as long as you get a dry hello, it's better than nothing. The station is extremely dilapidated & could use a good renovation, especially the restrooms. It makes no sense that while you are waiting for the train, you have to endure the unpleasant smells coming from the restrooms. The small corner contraption of a Newsstand was closed & caged off like a store sitting in the cut of the ghetto. Take the fence down. More importantly, for the evening traveling passengers, it should be open, regardless of the Cafe Car. I appreciate the free shuttle bus from BWI, as I've been in worse rail stations. Yet, the Amtrak is next to a high traffic airport, it could be a little better in appearance & customer service. read more

I have active used this station for 10 years and the only updates made were the addition of an elevator on either side. This station is screaming for a renovation. The first renovation being the doors to enter the facility. Everyone who rides has at least one bag. The doors are neither automatic nor are handicap equipped. Someone needs to donate 10-20k for them to push out the doors so there is a doorway mini vestibule. This will also assist in maintaining the station's temp. Both sets of doors should have an automatic option. I'm honestly surprised that a building inspector hasn't come to mandate it. Next, why must business class riders wait with no awning or seating. The seating on the outside is very much limited and only available where the reserved cars are. Also, given the horrific derailment that occurred two weeks ago, more funds need to be applied for safety measures. Amtrak makes a lot of money and for them to not maintenance or install safety mechanisms in their equipment. It's deplorable. If the FAA governs the airlines, who governs the rails? Especially a rail company with a monopoly? We are literally sitting ducks to another potential detrimental occurrence because the funds are inappropriately allocated. If you are gonna based your business on transportation, safety, at all times, should be your #1 concern. Clearly, it's not. Money is. Do better Amtrak. #DropsMic read more

Quick tips: the BWI train station is a bit removed from the airport; it requires a quick shuttle bus ride, which is free and reasonably frequent, but which nonetheless adds to your travel time. The platform is not particularly well-sheltered for any of the extremes, and depending on the season a good coat or some mosquito repellent may be advised. It is indeed a station for both the MARC (a Maryland commuter train) and Amtrak (longer-distance services). Interestingly enough, you can take an Amtrak train to the same local destinations, but it costs more (though if time is an issue it may well be worth it). Once on the train, it is a very quick and pleasant ride to either DC or Baltimore. read more

This station is currently being renovated. There is a temporary trailer for people to go to while waiting. Essentially, you go across the street to board the train outside. Loosely put, this is like a drive by. You wait outside at the track to get on at the time posted. The train stops loads passengers quickly and takes off. Don't expect a train station like the ones in Philadelphia or New York. The drop off area for taxis etc. is in the back behind the parking garage. This is my first time catching the train at this location. I'd be interested in seeing how the completed renovation improves this station. This station is about 5 miles from Live! Casino and Arundel Mills. There's several hotel options about 5 miles away in the Arundel Mills area as well. read more
