Clean station. Drop-off convenient but busy. Grand décor. We sometimes use Amtrak's 115-year-old Baltimore Penn Station as our travel hub. It's a grand Beaux-Arts building with columns outside an in, high ceilings in the main hall for the classic train-station acoustics, and rather ornate décor, with quaint old wooden doors. This time (Apr 2026) was for a trip to the northeast. It was easy to reserve a ticket online. We were dropped off about 45-min early for an 8am train, to avoid rushing and have time to grab a coffee from Dunkin. The train was on-time, which seems to be usually the case early in the morning. Drop-off is conveniently right out front, but traffic can be difficult. There's two entry streets, from the south and east, a squared circle, and one exit to the west. It takes patience, and nerve, to merge, drop-off, or pick-up. I cant say i observed courteous driving, but people were 95% practical, which worked out with only a fairly normal level of urban driving tension. There's a parking garage with an easy entrance that curves around west off St. Paul. The garage is said to exit somewhere onto Charles, i dont know where. I love the look of the station! Drop-off and pickup are messy but ultimately convenient. The garage is a mystery to me. Don't expect a food court beyond a Dunkin. Morning travel usually has no delays. For all that, it's not so bad, and we love the occasional trip by rail.

I traveled to Baltimore by train for a medical appointment, and at the end of the day I was at the point of returning to DC which is where I am staying now. I walked several blocks to get here and I was thoroughly Impressed about how well the train station was revitalized. The station still had its original look and feel for the most part, but the amenities have been updated. Ive been to various train stations throughout the country, and many of them are dilapidated and downright scarey to step inside. From digital signs that indicate train departures, to the mini restaurants and stores that help people get refreshed. After a 1/4 mile walk to get here, the wonderful a/c was a Godsend.

Decent historic station with around the clock MARC and Amtrak service. It feels secure and there is plenty of seating and space to stretch out. It is quite easy to navigate with good infographic boards in the waiting room, compared to Penn Station in Newark which is rather confusing. The station may also be cleaner than a decade ago when I saw a mouse or rat at Dunkin my first time here. There is a Dunkin and gift shop with sandwiches. They just restored MTA Light Rail service to the station as well and there are plenty of busses, taxis, and ride share to get around. Late at night the Dunkin and gift shop are closed so I tried for a sandwich from Farmers Fridge which vended but then the outlet slot got jammed, so had to get a refund and wait till I was home over an hour later to eat.

I appreciated the historical rustic aesthetic of this station. The wooden seats and the train schedule board. Something about it felt super timeless and modern at the same time.

Easy easy easy! Spacious waiting area and beautiful decor. Well displayed gate locations and boarding signs.

When I moved to Baltimore almost five years ago, I was very excited about train travel. That is the only explanation I can provide for giving Penn Station a four star review a years ago, and I thought it was probably time to knock it down to an accurate two stars I've taken hundreds of trains from Penn Station now and also spent quite a bit of time at the Amtrak stations in Philadelphia, DC, and New York City. So I'm very aware that Penn Station is the train station with the fewest amenities at the station. There's a Dunkin' Donuts (which opens at 6:30am on weekdays and 7:30am on weekends) and a little convenient store that sells snacks and other items. And that's it. There are a few bathrooms, some seating, and the tracks. And that's the station. It has an attached parking garage, which is super expensive and a pain to enter, because the station's traffic lanes are stupidly designed and unless you're at the station at a really off-hour, there will be 17 Ubers stalled in the only lane you can drive down to get from St. Paul Street to the parking garage. Can you tell that this place has given me just a smidge of road rage? It definitely has. A while back (maybe 1-2 years ago), there was scaffolding all over the historic train station and there was talk of improvements. After it was all over, I couldn't really tell what they'd done. The station has some charm (the stained glass in the entry area), but it's not a great station. I'm glad it's there, because it allows me to go other places, but it's not a great train station. It'll do.

Pennsylvania Station in Baltimore is pretty straightforward. There's nothing particularly special about it. It's smaller compared to major stations in cities like New York or D.C., but it has all the basics you need. I just wish it felt a bit more modern. I thought they had done some renovations in the last few years, but places like the bathrooms don't really show it.

Easy to get around in with clear signage; trains were on time, and there were plenty of benches for people to sit and wait. The architecture is soaring, and yet personal: There's a large tile of a dolphin and a cherub where a drinking fountain once was. The outside of the building has a circle drive for taxi pickup or kiss and go.

A really easy, no frills Amtrak train station. The only food offering here is Dunkin so make sure you plan if you're looking for a food hall you won't find that here. The bathrooms are clean, and if you look around you can see the stunning stained glass windows and the remnants of designs from the past. They are working on renovations, but I appreciate that it's a small station that connects you to wherever amtrak goes. I never park as street parking doesn't work for overnight and the garage can get pricey. The lines for pickup can get backed up but it's pretty fast.

Hmmm...how fun would a train ride from NYC to Miami be!

Centrally located in the city, Baltimore Penn Station houses Amtrak, MARC ( the regional MD train service), and the Light Rail. Currently, the only food available is a Dunkin' Donuts. The station and bathrooms were clean. The train station isn't that big, so you don't have to arrive that early before your train departure.

Pretty easy to get to, it's small so you don't have to walk a lot. Pretty clean inside and they have shops to get food and drinks.

This station services the commuters of Baltimore working in Washington DC. It also makes stops at several towns along the route. One way ticket costs $8. The Camden MARC station is right on the back end of the Light Rail - all I have to do is hop off the train in the morning, and there I am, no walking, no inconvenience. There's only two tracks, so the train will come in on one or the other. There's a small waiting room for those who don't want to freeze to death. And the conductors seem to be a lot friendlier on this line as well, so that's a plus. There are a couple of negatives that prevent this from being a 5-star review: - The Camden line itself doesn't run enough trains. There's maybe 4 or 5 in the morning, 3 at night - that's it. I'm surprised, as this line goes through Laurel, which is really heavily populated. - The Camden line runs those awful single-level cars where everyone's squished into their seats. It's rare to get a bi-level car, but when you do, there's nothing better. This line is much quieter than Penn (despite having almost as many passengers) and, in my opinion, better run. If it was convenient to me in the afternoon I'd use it (unfortunately it takes twice as long to get home), but for the morning run it's perfect - I get off at Greenbelt, transfer to the Green line on WMATA, that's it - no more fussing around at Union Station trying to fight the masses on the Red line.... Love me some Camden.
