Welcome to the airport. Enjoy your journey.

Follow the flow of traffic (which is going north) and it will eventually bring you to the light rail station. If you're walking outside the terminals as I was, you will completely miss the ticket vending machine. So when the train arrived, I had to go back into the terminal to find the danged thing and purchase my ticket. Why isn't there a machine on the platform or even outside the door? Oh, and then it wouldn't give me change. So my $1.70 ticket to Baltimore was $2.00. Nonsense. Not much cover on the platform from the weather.

Pennsylvania Station - Penn Station B-More

Decent historic station with around the clock MARC and Amtrak service. It feels secure and there…read moreis plenty of seating and space to stretch out. It is quite easy to navigate with good infographic boards in the waiting room, compared to Penn Station in Newark which is rather confusing. The station may also be cleaner than a decade ago when I saw a mouse or rat at Dunkin my first time here. There is a Dunkin and gift shop with sandwiches. They just restored MTA Light Rail service to the station as well and there are plenty of busses, taxis, and ride share to get around. Late at night the Dunkin and gift shop are closed so I tried for a sandwich from Farmers Fridge which vended but then the outlet slot got jammed, so had to get a refund and wait till I was home over an hour later to eat.

That is the…read moreonly explanation I can provide for giving Penn Station a four star review a years ago, and I thought it was probably time to knock it down to an accurate two stars I've taken hundreds of trains from Penn Station now and also spent quite a bit of time at the Amtrak stations in Philadelphia, DC, and New York City. So I'm very aware that Penn Station is the train station with the fewest amenities at the station. There's a Dunkin' Donuts (which opens at 6:30am on weekdays and 7:30am on weekends) and a little convenient store that sells snacks and other items. And that's it. There are a few bathrooms, some seating, and the tracks. And that's the station. It has an attached parking garage, which is super expensive and a pain to enter, because the station's traffic lanes are stupidly designed and unless you're at the station at a really off-hour, there will be 17 Ubers stalled in the only lane you can drive down to get from St. Paul Street to the parking garage. Can you tell that this place has given me just a smidge of road rage? It definitely has. A while back (maybe 1-2 years ago), there was scaffolding all over the historic train station and there was talk of improvements. After it was all over, I couldn't really tell what they'd done. The station has some charm (the stained glass in the entry area), but it's not a great station. I'm glad it's there, because it allows me to go other places, but it's not a great train station. It'll do.

The interior could use a tad bit of "modernization" however. The seating is a tad bit outdated and some chairs are broken. The bathrooms could use more ventilation. During the summer time. They definitely utilize the AC to the MAX which is a major plus. During the summer time the place is virtually an ice box. , During the winter time. Heat is definitely utilized. They have power outlets. Charged my e-bike a few times here while waiting for the train. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. One thing you'll notice is when the Acela passes by at high speeds. The station almost feels like the "I Love Lucy" episode where the bunk beds are sliding across the room when the train passes by in that episode. Lol. ,No chairs move or anything but you can definitely feel the vibration somewhat when the Acela is passing. The staff here is amazing. Very very social and professional. Always smiling and happy. Very relaxed and calm staff. Greetings coming and going which is a major plus. The overall cleanliness is amazing. No trash cans overflowing nor empty toilet paper rolls in the bathroom. Soap dispensers are loaded with soap and the sinks have somewhat good water pressure. The overall environment is very relaxed and very calm. The general crowd is very highly disciplined. Mainly adults. Some kids. All very highly disciplined. There's an attached parking lot on both sides of the station as well as bike racks with surveillance. During the night time, The station is very well lit to deter crime which is another plus. Overall A++++++, The best part of the Odenton station is the staff. The interior infrastructure could use a tad bit of modernization though. During the holidays. The themes are amazing.....
