I usually park at the garage and although the price has gone up but it still beats me driving to Union Station. The station is generally clean, including the bathrooms. From BWI to Hunt Valley (end to end), the trip duration is 1 hour 20 minutes. The station almost feels like the "I Love Lucy" episode where the bunk beds are sliding across the room when the train passes by in that episode. Very relaxed and calm staff. Greetings coming and going which is a major plus. The overall cleanliness is amazing. No trash cans overflowing nor empty toilet paper rolls in the bathroom. Soap dispensers are loaded with soap and the sinks have somewhat good water pressure. The overall environment is very relaxed and very calm. The general crowd is very highly disciplined. Mainly adults. Some kids. All very highly disciplined. There's an attached parking lot on both sides of the station as well as bike racks with surveillance. During the night time, The station is very well lit to deter crime which is another plus. Overall A++++++, The best part of the Odenton station is the staff. I am deducting 1.5 star due to issues on the return train to my car. The train had issues with the car overfilled and a door not closing. It delayed us around 25 minutes. Of note the parking lot boast car chargers. I also felt completely safe. 3.5 rounding up and recommend.

This isn't Grand Central Terminal, but it's got a ticket machine and some shelters, which are all pretty clean. Trains come by towards Baltimore and towards Washington every hour, and every 20 minutes or so during peak times. Great spot for railfanning due to the view of trains coming up the grade from the south as well as trains rounding the curve up north. Amtrak services fly past at 125 MPH (You can only get on MARC trains here).

It also has a ramp to the platform from the parking lot and an elevator, if you can't do stairs. The north-bound platform is on the side with the parking lot. For the southbound platform, you have to either take stairs or the elevator to a pedestrian bridge across the tracks to the opposite side. Beware that the elevator is slow and not very big, so there will likely be a wait to use it.

The last train leave Baltimore to DC at 8:05 a.m. The 1st train leaves DC at 4:13 p.m. for commuters going home. There are no services in between those two times. If you plan accordingly, it is a cheap way to travel to DC from Baltimore for sight touring.

The Camden MARC station is right on the back end of the Light Rail - all I have to do is hop off the train in the morning, and there I am, no walking, no inconvenience. There's only two tracks, so the train will come in on one or the other. There's a small waiting room for those who don't want to freeze to death. And the conductors seem to be a lot friendlier on this line as well, so that's a plus. There are a couple of negatives that prevent this from being a 5-star review: - The Camden line itself doesn't run enough trains. There's maybe 4 or 5 in the morning, 3 at night - that's it. I'm surprised, as this line goes through Laurel, which is really heavily populated. - The Camden line runs those awful single-level cars where everyone's squished into their seats. It's rare to get a bi-level car, but when you do, there's nothing better. This line is much quieter than Penn (despite having almost as many passengers) and, in my opinion, better run. If it was convenient to me in the afternoon I'd use it (unfortunately it takes twice as long to get home), but for the morning run it's perfect - I get off at Greenbelt, transfer to the Green line on WMATA, that's it - no more fussing around at Union Station trying to fight the masses on the Red line.... Love me some Camden.

It is the main…read moretrain station in Baltimore and was designed by New York architect Kenneth MacKenzie Murchison. As I said, it is old and was built in 1911 in the Beaux-Art style. Thankfully, there has been some renovations that were completed in 2024 that included a newly polished façade, refurbished windows, new roof, and upgraded lighting. You can now see the beautiful color of the green tiles that were part of the original design of the station that have been hidden for years. It was wonderful to see our local train station restored to its former glory. When you look at the front, you will see five rounded openings and three central archways that are used as the entrances to the station with sets of triple doors. When you step inside, do look up and take in the beautiful, domed, stained-glass skylights. Moving along, there is a waiting area for passengers with old wooden benches. Thankfully, there are elevators to take you down to the tracks if you need it. What is still ugly to me, but fine for others, is the sculpture out front. It just does not go with the beauty of this train station. It was placed there in 2004 and sculpted by Jonathan Borofsky as the centerpiece of a re-designed plaza in front of Penn Station. It is a 51-foot-tall aluminum statue, named Male/Female. You be the judge if it belongs here or not! We used the Red Cap Service at Penn Station in Baltimore to catch our Acela train to New York. Tracey, the Red Cap, was such a help to us. She expertly took us and our luggage down to the train with plenty of time to board, store our luggage in the train car, and get us settled. We were in the quiet car, which we appreciated. Although this Acela was not one of the new trains, we had an uneventful ride to New York with no delays due to the hot weather.

For quick pick up there's no charge or at least I haven't paid anything. The bathrooms every time have been clean every time I visited and the historic building as well maintained. Boarding Amtrak is also relaxed compared to airports with security and the massive crowds. In the north east corridor I often ride the train as it's just easier particularly between Baltimore, DC Philly, New York and Boston.
