I am writing this review to share a concerning experience involving lost property connected to a Greyhound route terminating in Dallas. On March 3, 2026, I traveled on Greyhound Bus Route US1160 from San Antonio to Austin. After exiting the bus in Austin, I realized approximately one hour later that I had inadvertently left my suitcase in the secured undercarriage compartment of the bus. Because the undercarriage storage area is locked and only accessible by Greyhound personnel, the bag remained in the company's custody while the bus continued to its final stop in Dallas. I immediately submitted a lost property report while the bus was still en route. Greyhound initially advised that the investigation process would take approximately 7 business days. It has now been about a month without recovery of the suitcase or clear information regarding inspection procedures conducted when the bus arrived in Dallas. The suitcase contained electronics, clothing, and personal items, including limited-availability apparel from events that cannot easily be replaced. One electronic device contained in the suitcase has shown recent internet activity after the loss was reported, which raises concerns regarding how lost property is handled after it is reported. I also requested a reasonable communication accommodation due to a disability that affects my ability to process complex written communication in high-stress situations. I requested phone communication to ensure effective participation in the claims process, but communication continued primarily by email, which made the process significantly more difficult. Additionally, when asking questions regarding Emotional Support Animal (ESA) policies, responses at times felt dismissive when simply seeking clarification regarding applicable policies. My son was on a bus from southern Ca to North Carolina. On the first leg of the trip the bus driver, who had been grumpy and rude to passengers, stopped at a circle K in Holbrook AZ at about 3 in the morning for a 15 minute break. My son got off to buy water and the bus driver took off after 7 minutes (they were timing the break), stranding my son and 5 others. A stranded father and son had relatives on the bus telling the driver to wait... their family wasn't on the bus yet, but the driver refused and took off without them. All of my son's possessions were on that bus as he was moving to NC. I filed a claim, and emailed the company. Weeks later I received a reply telling me to file a claim ???! Later they, emailed they were sorry, but they had not located his bags. That was it... I sent s letter to headquarters, snd have received no response in s month. I say greyhound is responsible to compensate us, as their driver in effect stole his belongings!!! My son had to wait in the middle of the desert for twelve hours for the next bus. (The father and son had to wait 24 hours for the one after that.). We have not received any compensation for this deliberate act by a rude and unprofessional driver. If there is any way to avoid using their "service", I would recommend it. As a rider, you are at the whim of whoever is driving the bus. To Greyhound: You could improve by not stranding your passengers at 3am in the middle of nowhere and taking off with all of their bags! You could improve by compensating my son for his clothing, food, and computer! read more

Stay Away From This Greyhound! I came to the Greyhound station in Dallas, Texas to check if my son's bus had arrived since it was delayed 2.5 hours, and the experience was absolutely terrible. The security guard was rude and unprofessional, and when I asked for help in the office, the employee there was even worse--condescending, dismissive, and clearly miserable. If these people hate their jobs so much, they shouldn't be working with the public. Just wow! Where do I start... This was my first experience using Greyhound since the early 1980's, when I was a young man. How far this iconic bus service has fallen. I booked a trip from Las Vegas to central Utah, in order to see my elderly father, and pick up his car, to drive back home to California. I remembered taking the Greyhound Bus a few times in my youth, and it wasn't bad. The booking process online was confusing, as destinations where they clearly stop and will transfer passengers at, do not appear as options for you. This leads you to believe that you must go well out of your way to get close to your ultimate destination. That's actually not true. I found that I could ride the bus, without transferring, directly from Las Vegas to Richfield, Utah without any trouble, and the driver confirmed this. Now the first problem was that Greyhound subcontracted with another local shuttle company to transport me from Las Vegas to Saint George, Utah. That subcontractor failed to show up at midnight, leaving me stranded at the transportation center in South Las Vegas until 3:00 AM. Finally, an actual bus shows up, and I quickly board, a full three hours late, and sit in my assigned seat. The seat cushion was so incredibly worn out, sagging and distorted that it literally hurt my spine and back. I finally folded up my thick jacket and placed that on the seat cushion, to form a more comfortable seating pad. Next was the fact that the hip and leg room were so cramped and tight, that you were literally pinned into your spot and couldn't move. I'm an average sized male, but I hate to think how bad this would be for someone carrying a few extra pounds... The good part about the trip was the driver, who was professional, courteous and easy to talk to. He stayed on-schedule and got us there quickly. After exiting the bus, I was cramped, distorted and in pain, from the contorted and tight seating on the bus. It took two days of rest and pain reliever to finally get back to normal. The bottom line is I would only consider Greyhound as a last-resort for transportation. I literally would've preferred a bicycle to get to my destination. I'm not sure what's happened, but Greyhound needs to fix this. Provide more room for your passengers on the bus, keep the buses clean, replace the upholstery when it's worn out and try to be on-time. read more

DISGUSTING AND TRAUMATIC I have never been so terrified in my life than I have when I step foot in the Dallas greyhound bus station. I entered the greyhound bus station on Saturday 01/04/25 at 8am and was rudely interrogated by a 7 foot security guard, I walk in and from across the building he shouts "what time is your bus here?" I say 1pm, he tells me I am too early to be in the building and I need to leave immediately, mind you there were people sleeping on the floor in sleeping bags and I saw a tent INSIDE the station. I say whatever fine and I head back to my hotel room that I already checked out of because I wanted to be early for my trip. I go back to the station at 11am and this time that same security guard was sitting up at the front podium, barefoot with his feet resting basically in your face, I actually couldn't believe it and I wish I was quick enough to take a photo. I knew at this moment I f**ed up. It was too late to book a flight so I'm stuck there and deal with the chaos. I walk into the station and there's trash in every corner with a little puddle to match. People sleeping on the floors and just about every foul smell you could imagine combined into one. I go to plug my phone in as I still have an hour until boarding and try to ignore everything that is going on before my wondering 26hour ride home. Note to self, never use greyhound again. THREE THINGS: 1. The Bus station is gone (and Waze, Lyft, and Uber don't show the new address). A police officer let me know that the bus stop is now just in a parking lot of the Clarion Hotel. Hotel said to "wait by the garbage cans". It is UNMARKED. Not even a bus stop sign to know I was in the right place. I only knew to stand there because other people showed up. 2. The bus was 40 min late, and when I chatted with Cust Service (everyone was trying to call, but I got through with chat), the rep told me there's no tracking info on their end. So, who would have tracking info on a late bus if Greyhound Customer Service doesn't???? She suggested I call DC where the bus originated???? Ridiculous. 3. THEY ARE CHEATING THEIR CUSTOMERS: I paid $9.00 extra for "Extra Economy" seating which supposed to give me priority boarding, but there was no such thing. The driver told me that there was "nothing showing on her end" (on her phone app) to say I have priority boarding. She said that when you choose handicapped, and she would have been given the passenger's name to yell out to board first. I don't have a disability, I didn't choose handicapped. I just paid $9 for priority boarding, yet I was the LAST person on the bus because everyone jumped in line before me and I had a suitcase to put in. Tried to get a $9 refund from Greyhound Customer Service because they are selling a service that doesn't actually exist. They responded saying that it's nonrefundable and won't give me a refund. The security/employees working were some of the rudest people I've ever met. I've never taken a greyhound and was confused on where to go/what to do. They acted like I was the dumbest person to exist for asking questions, and got very angry at me. They had a horrible, horrible attitude. Everyone was rude and acted like they hated their lives and didn't want to be there. I usually am nice to everyone and didn't want to fight with them so I stayed silent. I had to figure everything out by myself. I also did not feel safe at the stations and am a young woman, single traveler. There were homeless people everywhere outside the station. 1. Bus arrived late causing passenger to miss a connection in Pittsburgh. Passenger was given three different times when the "next" bus would depart. Agent and Greyhound staff in Pittsburgh not only did not know when the next bus would depart, they did not know how to handle this common travelling situation. 2. Agent in Pittsburgh booked a leg that would have arrived Detroit at 10:35 a.m.; and the bus to transfer to is scheduled to depart at 10:00 a.m. 35 minutes earlier. 3. Web Site. There is no way to find different routes between the origin and destination. So little information is available that customers are "forced" to phone for further information. 4. Made two phone calls to Greyhound to ask about the next departure time from Pittsburgh. Neither person would tell me this information. 5. Made two phone calls to Greyhound to ask meaning of "Unavailable for online booking". Both individuals refused to answer the question and hung up when I asked to speak to a supervisor. I pre-purchased a ticket traveling from Oklahoma to Houston Texas and had to endure the worst experience in customer relations and service imaginable. My trip was bombarded with delays and misinformation, uncomfortable travel and ill inform employees to boot,unkept facility. My initial departure from McAlester Ok was scheduled for 12:50pm arrival to Dallas Texas 5:15pm, connecting route departure at 5:55pm to 10:05pm in Houston, only to be told that the bus was delayed to arrive at 2:00pm, finally boarding at 2:20pm Texas bound, arriving in Dallas Terminal at 5:43pm, leaving minutes to board the connecting route. However that 5:55 bus too was delayed only to be boarded at 6:20pm and departed at 6:33pm, shortly after departure the driver decided to return the bus, asked guests to exit and retrieve our property because she felt the bus was not operating properly. Terminal Staff Employee suggested that the driver was going to the bus barn to activate another vehicle and was not told when that would be carried out, only to find out that was not the case. Upon numerous request for information, staff at the Dallas location was unsure and suggested I call their 1-800 number to retrieve and answer any concerns of my trip. Only their security staff suggested that I get my ticket updated, for which I did, however the next departure was for 12:01am arriving in Houston Texas at 4:15am, Altering my trip entirely missing scheduled pickup and projects/meetings. I was told I could only email a complaint, there are no contact rep to reach via telephone. I indeed filed a complaint and a request to be compensated for this matter or made whole, only to receive a response that they were sorry for the inconvenience and denied my request. According to their policy, delays over 120 minutes will result in a refunded amount of purchased ticket. The service was an absolute horror, it's amazing me that a company this old could still be allowed to operate under these conditions. read more

I wandered around for half an hour looking for a bag tag and not a single employee would slow down enough to help me. I was just repeatedly ignored. No one tells you anything or helps you figure out what to do, they just yell and expect you to read their minds. And yes! Wow! Never have I heard so much yelling! Why are you screaming at people for asking for help? The station itself is so dirty and looks so unsafe, and also they say several times they enforce mask wearing but no one has said anything to the guy sneezing next to me with no mask. I originally booked a trip for my son and I at the end of May to go to KC. The bus departure time was 7:05 and while we arrived at 7:03, we were told it had left 5 minutes ago, and we'd need to rebook the trip. So, we did. The second time around, the bus left 20 min late. We paid for seats up front but no one scanned our tickets, and we quickly realized Greyhound is not an airline. It's a dumpster fire. Approx. 7hrs into our trip, 2AM, our driver lost control of the vehicle and brought it to a complete stop in the median of the highway somewhere in northern OK. No bus or driver was ever sent to replace our existing one. No contact from Greyhound was ever communicated or initiated. So about 6AM, a tow truck pulled the bus out of the mud, and we re-boarded the death trap to drive on towards a 3hr inspection at a Love's Truck Stop. Why an inspection? Because the driver claimed an entire systems failure caused the crash... not his sleepiness. Additionally, a passenger claimed to see sparks and flames shooting out the side of the bus. However, this passenger's face tattoos and braggadocio for drug use should have clued the authorities into the fact that this man was not a reliable source of information. After many attempts to reach Greyhound from the Loves we were told a "rescue bus" was on the way. However, we could not be told where it was coming from or when it would be there. Why? Because Greyhound only assumed one was on the way because that is their policy. However, they had no idea if one was on the way, where it was coming from or who was driving it. In fact, there was no "rescue bus." However, after reporting every passengers contact info to the State Troopers so they could file their assessment of the incident, we were back on the road. When we arrived in Wichita, KS, there was no substitute driver or bus. Just a transit center and our discourages and defeated driver wondering if he should press on. And after a bathroom break, we did. 3 more hours to go. Half the passengers had abandoned the bus for other forms of transport. Roughly 7 hrs late. Thanks, Greyhound! This is the worst business ever. I was on the phone with Flixbus.com when the 15 minute mark was hit. At that time I needed to reschedule but 4 hours later they said that I needed to send a email to greyhound themselves so I could try to get a refund. The rude customer service representative told me at that time that it was my fault for all the trouble then she puts me on hold for about 1 more hour. At, that point I sent a email. Explained that I was on hold when the 15 minute mark hit. But, after 96 business hours they said it was an economy ticket so they couldn't give me my 448.00 dollars back. I am on disability and then we still had to spend another 500.00 dollars to go get my children. I contacted the BBB but greyhound could not be bothered to respond and its been 1 month so far. Two Complaints against Greyhound I'm not getting refund $73.91 The bus drivers are rude, do not help with anything, a person is in their own ~~~terrible and WRONG I rode the bus in June 2024, from Denton Tx to Albuquerque NM! The bus driver was rude only allowed a few minutes every stop! I didn't have time to get food and did not eat until Tucumcari NM. It was a terrible experience for my first time! The bus driver did not help with luggage, I'm 71! Did not provide bus transfers, we had to figure out everything. When I reached my destination, there was a water leak above my seat and could not let the bus driver know, because he split no where to be found! I then got ill and was not able to return on the bus the following week. It had to be done two hours, that's ridiculous and very stupid. For one I was sick, that was the last thing I was thinking, I had no computer to cancel trip! Now Greyhound is refusing to refund my money of $73.91! Karen isn't very computer savvy so I offered to contact Greyhound for her. She requests a refund or re-issue of her bus ticket for the Greyhound bus she missed through no fault of her own. The problem is Karen's bus didn't pick her up on Tuesday, May 14th at 8:30 AM. Ticket information: Booking #: 3161737765, travel date May 14, 2024. Travel pick up time: 8:30 AM. Karen was due to travel by bus from Boise, Idaho to Salt Lake City, Utah to visit a terminally ill friend. She bought her bus ticket at the Flying J near the bus depot. The bus pick-up time came and went but the bus didn't arrive/pick her up, so she stayed and asked the next bus driver if they were headed to Salt Lake City, Utah. She was told that bus had not arrived yet. She asked the next few bus drivers if they were headed to Salt Lake City. Each driver said, no. Eventually, a bus driver told her the bus had already arrived and departed. She returned home to Oregon. Upon returning home, Karen called Greyhound to request a refund so she can buy another ticket to visit her ailing friend. Customer Service was not helpful at all. They hung up on her. Karen had her niece call. Again, Customer Service hung up. Karen is not savvy with using the internet or QR codes. This is why she bought her bus ticket directly from the Flying J Station. The results were unhelpful. Greyhound seems to have a strict NO REFUND/NO EXCHANGES if not completed within 15 minutes of the bus departure. Not sure how my friend missed the bus. She asked every driver she saw. She arrived one hour early so it isn't possible that she missed the bus. My disabled friend, does not use a wheelchair, doesn't drive so that isn't an option. ============================================== I filled out a Greyhound form online in Karen's name that the 3rd, and helpful, Chat Rep sent me a link to. They sent Karen an email stating they received the email and would get back to her within 24 hours. They did but they declined to do anything to solve the ticket/no bus ride issue. She replied by sending a copy of the ticket and stating that the ticket did not say NO REFUND/EXCHANGE. Greyhound still declined to resolve the issue. Again, the company declined to resolve the issue. Now my friend has lost nearly $400 for the unused bus ticket and is missing out on seeing her dear friend before she passes away. read more

Pre covid review: Have your ticket on your phone? Great, go check in and get a paper one and a bag tag that you say you don't need. Only to be told when you get to the bus that you can't use the paper one but need the electronic one. Oh and the driver mocked me for being annoyed. What was the point of all of this. read more

Driver left a passenger just because he didn't wanna wait a minute the passenger was ready to board ticket on hand. That's not it also the driver didn't close the baggage containers here is a picture and he stayed in the left lane for a very long period of time trying to pass a truck. I would say the driver is incompetent. Baggage open while driving risking passengers safety & he a left passenger ready to board , negligent driving. Me and some little kid got sick at the restaurant at this bus station. The greyhound employees would not let me go out to my bus, when it came and caused me to miss my bus that I bought a ticket for. They told me that I had talk some guy before going out. They gave out mixed information for the bus arrival and departure. The could have changed the ticket for a later bus, but they acted like they couldn't do that. I was standing at the bus, when the woman told me to go back into the station. When I was due to get on the bus. CRAZY!!! They ARE very unprofessional, and I was told I could not get a refund. read more

I gave it 1 star because its not possible to leave Zero stars. I have NEVER encountered a company ao inept, blase, and unresponsive in my life. DO NOT ever switch bags with someone by mistake on Greyhound. Even if you both realize your mistake and return the bags to the local ticket office, you are GUARANTEED never to see your bag again, because Greyhound and employees dont give a rats ass. read more

Bus 1409 from Dallas to El Paso delayed 1 hr. The delay was not the issue. The nightmare was booking online. I booked 3/4/2020, my credit card was charged $296, I chose to wait and get my e-ticket. Our departure date was 3/7/2020, so I went to retrieve my ticket on 3/6/2020 at 8pm. I spent 2 hours, 4 phone calls with Greyhound, and ultimately had to dispute the charge with my credit card company and pay twice because they had no record of my booking! Terrible experience! Not to mention, phone customer service is pathetically poor. Outsourced service-language barrier. I had to repeat my name spelling 3times and line was ultimately "disconnected " when I requested to escalate matter. At the downtown Dallas bus stop terminal, it was confusing and dirty, but staff was helpful, especially young female security who helped everyone she came across with a smile. I might look into a different bus line in the future based on the online purchase experience. read more
