It was around noon on a weekday, and as soon as I entered this cafe, everyone looked up at me and then went right back to working on their laptops or silently sipping their drinks. It was honestly a little creepy. This place gives off the vibe of a popular hangout spot with steady regulars. Anyway, I ordered a hot green tea macha latte. Barista asked me if I wanted a substitute for dairy milk. I said almond milk. I didn't know it was 75 cents extra until I got my receipt. A little deceptive, but whatever. Drink was fine, and I got a punch card that'll earn me a free drink on my 10th order. They have outdoor seating and an upstairs section for 4+ parties which requires a resetvation. I've been meaning to write this review for months, and I have to say this place is delicious. What they make in house is wonderful, but they also acquire some delicious things from around the city. I've got a few things from here, but it's the tiramisu pudding that keeps me coming back. Their tiramisu pudding has the perfect balance of just enough bitterness and sweetness. The lady fingers are also perfectly soaked. I also was able to get a Kouign Amman that they outsource from Balthazar which was a winner. I had it for breakfast the day after and it was still in wonderful shape. Lastly, something that I really appreciate is that they check if they have something in stock before they charge you. They could just assume they have one of their puddings in stock and charge you and then have to figure it out later. They don't do that here. They make sure they have it before you pay. Very very good coffee & PERFECT place to hangout/study/chat with a friend. This was my first time here since it was remodeled and I have to say... I was quite impressed. The lady at the register was super nice. She seemed like she was the owner of the cafe as she was instructing the other younger baristas on bar what to do. When I asked if there were any decaf options, she said yes of course. They can make anything decaf if I wanted. I was happy since I didn't want to drink caffeine too late in the day to give me a hard time falling asleep later. So I ordered a decaf iced americano. She was so kind to me and offered any pastries or anything else to go with my coffee. I remember the baristas not being too nice in the past but they really upped their customer service. The coffee was very good, very smooth & didn't taste watery at all. I'm very picky about my coffee so that's saying a lot coming from me. Trust me and check this place out. Decided to stop by for a quick pick-me-up before dinner. This cafe is so cute! I was told that it was recently renovated, making their location super cute! INSTA-WORTHY if you're into that The staff checked our vaccination records and we proceeded to order. I chose the matcha latte and my boyfriend ordered a classic latte. The prices were standard (about ~$5 a drink). I see that they also have puddings and muffins here, in case you have a sweet tooth! Quick note though, I asked for no sugar in my matcha latte, without knowing how STRONG their matcha is! I definitely recommended adding at LEAST a little because it was WOO-HOO bitter! The latte was.. well a latte! XD For a Friday evening, there were definitely a lot of occupied tables. The customer population consisted mainly of what looked like college students (a lot of laptops and notebooks sprawled out on tables). It made me reminisce about my youth, ahh where has the time gone? :') Overall, I can see myself returning to this cafe. The staff were friendly and the drinks were enjoyable. Even among the oversaturated/overcaffeinated market that is Korean-owned coffee shops in Eastern Queens, this place stands out! What I really like the most might actually be the ambience. The seating is spread out well in these almost-post-Covid times, and there's a nice-sized covered but open-air outside seating area as well. The servers were all friendly. The vibe is young and hip but not overly pretentious. Feels safe as well with hand sanitizer readily available and the bathroom was clean. All the workers were wearing masks (I try to always wear a mask when approaching masked workers in a show of support and solidarity). The coffee here is excellent. Some of their desserts are a little too rich (such as the Tiramisu pudding), but their snacks, both savory (ham and cheese croissant) and sweet (gluten-free vegan cookies!) were yummy. The cafe is usually quite full with students studying. It can be challenging to find a seat, especially during finals/midterm season. I have come here many times with friends for after-dinner coffee. I've been shocked at the prices of their drinks lately. I paid $9.25 for a Large Matcha Latte... you heard that right. I understand inflation is a thing and the increasing price of products, but that is absolutely unreasonable. I would love to support small cafes but the prices are ridiculous. Wonderful place to get some work done! Due to COVID, they did limit the capacity indoors, but they set up a very aesthetic outdoor space. Indoor seems more for those who are trying to get work done and outdoor is more for socializing. My go-to for any cafe is an iced hazelnut latte and Grey makes a great one. I also tried their acai bowl. It looked very cute and it tasted great, but some of the fruits were still frozen. A little annoying, but was still good. Their chocolate muffin is perfect! I've been to Grey multiple times and I've never had an issue with them. The other day, I was served a latte with some milk that went bad but only realized it upon my next destination. I reached out to them, and they apologized through Instagram and offered a complimentary one my next time there. And I got it! On top of that, the manager apologized in person, and offered any thing else on the side. AND on top of that, the owner came out to do the same. EXCELLENT customer service. The thing that stood out most to me about Grey was the aesthetic exterior and interior. Since it had just rained, my friend and I decided to sit indoors. The seating arrangements seemed a little too close for comfort, as pretty much every table was occupied. I ordered a small matcha latte, and my friend a flat white. I have to say $4.50 is a bit steep for a drink of that size, but I guess that's kind of standard nowadays for cafes? It took me a while to drink through the foam to get to the actual drink, and I wished it was sweeter when I finally got to it. I wasn't particularly impressed by the taste. My friend said her flat white was good though! Next time, I'd want to try their coffee drinks, as those seem to be well received, and hopefully hungry enough to try some desserts! Upon entering Grey Café I was greeted with a vibrant " hello". The establishment is following protocol due to COVID-19 all employees where wearing mask I, appreciate this. The entrance has automatic temperature screening, hand sanitizer along with tracking log book. The atmosphere is welcoming, relaxing decor, music selection was excellent and at a very decent level. I found it to be very clean and tidy especially by the trash area. They also have outdoors seating and these areas where also well kept. They don't have a parking lot so, pay the meter or park in the neighborhood just don't block their driveway. They do have bathrooms. Customer service was very courteous and tentative to me, as this was my first time here and didn't know what I wanted. I felt welcomed here and really enjoyed my snack. I ordered a large hot coffee and bagel with butter and my coffee was absolutely delightful. Why? My coffee was made fresh and it was nice and hot -not warm hot. My bagel was delicious with real butter not fake stuff. I will return very soon because they also offer soda, health drinks, water and beer and wine( double check that) also I saw sandwiches, cupcakes and cakes etc. Grey Café is a good spot to go for a first date, a casual meet up to catch up life or wherever you fancy because they have something for everyone to eat or drink and enjoy themselves. read more

There's not a whole ton of difference between cafes, except different decor, slightly different menu... Nothing crazy here, it's still a nice cafe to relax at. I got a rose latte and it was tasty. Probably I drink way too much coffee these days. Usually I order latte with regular milk. I alternated with flat while or cappuccino if I don't feel like too much milk in the afternoon. The balance of coffee and milk is always on point and consistent through the whole cup, except you need to swirl a bit for the iced beverage. The staff are all friendly and smily and will remind you to take out punch card at cashier. I came here pretty often before COVID. The cafe is very conveniently located on northern blvd for a quick stop, grab and go, or a causal sit-down if you don't bother to drive around for a spot. I feel a bit sad to see the interior modified so much to comply with safety protocol because the cafe used to have such a cute and neat layout, but I do have huge gratitude that it keeps the door open and keeps the service quality high and above. My favorite cafe at the moment during COVID. They have a cute outdoor seating area with umbrellas to block the sun. There are succulents on each table, which are perfect for pictures! The interior looks aesthetically pleasing and has air conditioning - sadly no indoor seating is available, so I enjoyed my few minutes of cool air as I waited for my drink before going back out into the heat. You can get a punch card which offers a free drink after several visits. I ordered an iced lavender latte and my friend got an iced rose latte. The drinks were made super quickly. I didn't know what to expect when I ordered mine but I was surprisingly happy with my drink. At first, the lavender flavor had a strong taste but as I drank it, I got used to the flavor and actually really liked it. I will definitely come back to try the other latte flavors they have. The staff was also really friendly. After sitting outside for a while, one of the workers moved the umbrellas to give us more shade (as the sun moved) to make sure we were fully covered.
