What jumped out at me the moment I stepped into GREY Cafe, is the diversity of people I saw sitting quietly on their laptops as well as the ones waiting in line to place orders. The scene told me this was a safe space to be, get some work done, and the food/drinks must have been good enough to attract people of different backgrounds. With that out of the way, here's my actual review. I got a matcha latte with coconut milk and a brownie. I loved the variety of non-dairy options they had for milks (as well as snacks)! They used health conscious brands so I could see that some real thought was put into the offerings. The matcha tasted like real matcha and had no clumps! The temperature was just right, hot but not scalding where you'd have to wait a while before drinking. They have raw brown sugar packets if you want to sweeten the drinks yourself. The brownie was soft, chocolatey, and not overly sweet. They offer to warm it up if you like. They have a restroom towards the back. The staff were all friendly and also diverse! 9.5/10 all around experience. This was a very pleasant surprise and I will definitely come back to try more things!
I can't believe I've never given this place a review. My job literally orders from here at least once a week. They got the best espresso and matcha drinks. My favorite is the Brown Sugar Oat Freddo. I love when I can taste the roastiness of the beans. I've also had their homemade puddings (all the flavors are delicious) and the macaroons. Today prompted my review. I was off work and got to hangout in the space with some friends. Gorgeous day out. I like their seating inside and out! The espresso machine is also super cute with words of positivity on post it's. Lifted my day!
First thing I noticed, and you can tell my age by this comment, is though they had music on, it was not any kind of loud rap or heavy bass music and it was so refreshing. Five stars for just this alone haha! The Cafe was packed at 9pm on a Saturday night. The woman behind the counter were friendly and helpful and the man who made my drinks was quick and efficient.. I liked that they did not have an extensive menu which makes things easier when deciding, and it's great that they also had sandwiches along side muffins, cake slices etc. A large iced mocha frappe, chicken salad sandwich, large hot cappuccino and a double chocolate chip muffin cost ~ $30, which is in line with prices in the area. They are opened into 11p, a little later than most cafes which close around 10p. Good experience overall.
Place has multiple room to chill and enjoy you drinks. There is a section that is only for 4+ ppl, there is the common area with lots of seating, there are couple of tables for two outside the coffee shop, and there is a booth for large outdoor seating with a blowing fan so that people dont die of the heat The coffee was alright but worth it since i came here to chill and enjoy the free wifi, there is free wifi btw! Definitely coming here in the future to chill and enjoy more the ambiance and the free wifi : )
Rating : 3.5 I don't remember how I found this Grey cafe but I went there the first time in 2022. This place is not like the cafe that I imagined it would be. It seems more like a cafe for youngsters to hang out and study. There are many tables and seats inside and it's always full of people. It makes me feel like I'm in a cafe inside a college/campus lol. I only go for their puddings and some pastries. My favorite is Tiramisu puddings and almond croissants. They are so good. Matcha puddings are a hit or miss. Sometimes they are good and other times they're too sweet. Staff are attentive and polite. I like it when they offer a promotion for gift cards. I don't know if they always offer that but if they do, make sure you get it because it's a good deal. Note: I went there recently and noticed that the pudding portion got smaller and the price of pastries got higher.
Keepin it real out here in Flushing / Auburndale Been going to this spot since they were Browny. The vibe and the layout changed a lot but it's still a good reliable spot to get work done. The wifi were pretty bad at one point and looks like they've fixed it since then. The drinks are pretty decent with new drink options constantly. 2 bathrooms, good wifi, ok amount of outlets, music option is interesting at times, but overall solid solid cafe
TLDR: THE cutest cafe I've ever been to in the heart of Queens! 13/10 for cafe vibes and service! If you are looking for a spot to be productive and socialize, this is the perfect place... The snacks are a bit pricey (PB&J is $5) but the ambiance makes up for it! Before you even walk in, you can tell from the exterior that it's a popular spot. There are so many cute outdoor covered spaces for you to be productive or chill with your friends. On the inside, there are sooo many coworking spaces! There's even a section upstairs for groups of 4 or more - this space includes a couch and a ton of other unique nooks :) I love the separation because it helps to control the noise level. If you want a quiet space, bring headphones. There were so many college students but that's what I loved because I felt like it was a safe space to be productive! There are so many sweet and practical snacks and bites like a PB&J, chocolate chip muffin, and mango smoothie! A must-visit spot in the heart of Queens that you can't miss out on!
Super cute and cozy cafe, lots of seating. Quick service. Limited food menu. I tried the signature grey foam latte which is an iced latte topped with black sesame foam, it was very good. Foam was sweet and tasty. Macarons are 6 for $18, we got a variety, all were good. My favorites were the hazelnut & lavender. Pasty menu is very limited, wish the had more options. Overall a great spot for coffee, I would recommend for a coffee date!
This review is based off 1 visit in the early afternoon of a Friday. I'm always down to explore different cafes to study in; I was excited to come study here with a friend. Unfortunately, by the time we arrived, most of the tables along the perimeter of the cafe were taken, so we chose to sit in one of the large benches located in the middle of the cafe. After studying for some time, I was able to switch tables with a seat that had back support and felt very comfortable. The song choices were mostly pretty chill R&B/Hip-hop, which I appreciated. Make sure to dress for the weather. Depending on where you sit, you may feel a burst of cold air everytime someone walks in. I first ordered a Flat White, which interestingly came in only one size, and enjoyed it. However, I wished I had ordered a larger drink to enjoy over the multiple hours I stayed there. That is why I later ordered their Brown Sugar Freddo, which was awesome. Their is a back room designated for groups of 4 or more, but sometimes I see a single person on their laptop sitting there, so I'm not quite sure what to think. Overall, I enjoyed my experience here and would like to come back and try more of their coffee. read more
I used to come here often late nights when I used to roommate and wanted to get out the house. Now I go there just because of their laid back open space, their pastries are decent but the service well makes up for it. The lines can get long but they keep it moving. My first sip and I am sold. This was so great Walked in on a Wednesday rainy morning, people working on laptops and drawing art. The place was spacious and cozy. I was greeted very nicely in the front and got my order in less than 5 mins. Hope to be back to try some goodies at the window. read more
A lot of seating, great and friendly staff, nice decor. The food was very fresh and delicious. The staff takes pride in going the extra mile to make delicious drinks. They also appreciate any feedback you give them and ask if you would like anything adjusted to your liking, which you do not get anywhere else. The ambience is quiet and spacious, if you come on weekdays it's not as busy. The upstairs seating is extremely comfortable, they have couches and a bunch of seats. Grey Cafe leaves no gray area when it comes to crafting artisan beverages and sweets. A bevy of drink options and desserts are available and they also sell Juniors cheesecake by the slice. The baristas are friendly and communicate well with how we want our beverages and desserts prepared by asking "sugar or no sugar, whole milk or some other type of milk, you want cinnamon or not, heated, warmed or not". The little tweaks like this make all the difference in having either a mediocre or ambrosian experience. We had the matcha latte, cappuccino, cranberry scone and double chocolate cupcake. The matcha latte and cappuccino was heavenly as both drinks were subtle in sweetness with light bitter notes. The scone and muffin were warmed up and were moist, delicious and heavenly. There is a lounge area indoors for groups of 4 or more with a 3 hour time limit and outdoor seating is available as well. The indoor lounge area can be rented out for private events. Like anything else follow the bylaws when hanging out here, don't spoil it for everyone by overstaying your welcome and not buying anything. Hands down my favorite cafe. I've been going here since it was called Browny. Drinks are absolutely delicious. I love love love all the latte flavors. I've tried the flavors rose, maple, hazelnut, lavender, and I've also tried them all in both hot and cold. Every time I come here, I have such a hard time deciding what I want because I WANT THEM ALL. Ice level and sugar level can be adjusted which is great. So many milk options such as oat milk, almond milk, soy milk, whole milk, and they'll ask you if whole milk is okay first. Staff is great. All wear masks, friendly, and time efficient with making the drinks. Ambiance is awesome, really pretty and a great place to get work done or socialize. HOWEVER, it can get crowded rather quickly. They do have outdoor seatings and can get filled up quickly during the summer time while it gets way too cold to sit outside during the winter time because there is no outdoor heating. In the inside, they block off upper area for larger groups to chill and chat with no laptops allowed for any type of work done which is unfortunate especially if there's no seats available downstairs and you're just a party of 2 :/ They have punch cards and your 10th drink is free! Pricing is pretty much as expected for lattes, nothing out of the ordinary, roughly ~$6.50 for the large with an added flavor. I have yet to try their pastries after they became Grey but I'm sure they're still as yummy! They have limited parking but parking in the residential area isn't so bad and right around the corner. I found this cafe on pure chance when I was heading to another cafe in the area. The space was so cute we couldn't say no and went in. The plants and lights really took our breath away. There is beautiful indoor and outdoor space and we chose to sit outdoors with the beautiful weather. We ordered the earl gray pudding and a chocolate chip cookie , and two chagocinnos. Chago is a mushroom known for its health benefits and has a chocolate like flavor. I added almond milk to mine and it was delicious.. it tasted like a chocolate cappuccino. The earl gray pudding was the highlight of the night. I'm not a big pudding girl but this was so good I got one to go. It tasted like fruity pebbles and there were pieces of what I think were nilla wafers in it.. delicious!! The cookie was great, large chunks of chocolate and soft.. they warmed it up for us too. Grey Cafe has my recommendation for a cafe around the area. I went to grey cafe to study and have been here a few times now. Overall, the vibes are great. The music isn't too loud and the wooden and plant aesthetic with the minimal black colors is wonderful. The service is decent and the coffee is prepared quickly. The coffee that I get here is the iced Americano and it's amazingly smooth and not overly bitter. The prices are standard. My only complaints are that it's too cold at times and that the seats aren't very comfortable for extended periods of studying. Otherwise, Grey Cafe is a great spot for anything cafe related (i.e. studying, working, dates). read more

The decor and ambiance of GREY Cafe is really chill and cozy. We were attracted by the great smell of their coffee every time we passed by. When we heard that they serve pastries from Balthazar, which is one of my favorite bakeries in NYC, we decided to give it a try. We ordered their Almond Croissant, Cranberry Scone and 2 cups of Hot Latte. The croissant and scone were good, just not as fresh as what we had, which was a little disappointing. Looking for a study spot on Northern? This is a great place to to study with friends or even alone. There is a space behind the cafe for groups bigger than three people that has a cap for three hours. The front of the cafe are for smaller groups. It isn't too loud which makes it a good study spot. They check vaccination cards if you are dining in! Brown Sugar Freddo with Oat Milk was $6.00. I've never heard of Freddo and I asked the barista what it was and it is an iced espresso beverage with organic raw brown sugar and oat milk. It is on the pricier side but the coffee was worth it! Would visit again if in the area for some coffee! read more

GREY had been on my radar for months thanks to Yelp. And I can see why! It's super cute, trendy, and has a lot of food and beverage options. It seemed like a place where lots of young adults wanted to hang and do work. Frankly, I was overwhelmed with options. I couldn't even decide if I wanted to go sweet or savory. But ultimately, sweet was the way to go. Their banana pudding ($6) was excellent, one of the best I've ever had. But all the pastries, Junior's cheesecakes, muffins, and more looked very good. I got the Belgian chocolate cookie for my partner to eat later, and he said it was great; I didn't even get a chance to try it, ha. The drink menu was just as innovatively overwhelming. They were featuring an Earl Grey drink that I couldn't fully decipher - the screen was moving too quickly - but I went with a classic flat white, and I couldn't have been happier. I sat for a while in some relaxing chairs they have on an elevated platform lined with flowers. It almost felt regal. I love coming to Grey Cafe! It's one of the cafes I frequently visit this cafe when I'm near the area. Whenever I visit, I can't resist ordering an Acai Bowl and a Mint Julia. Their Acai Bowl has oats on the bottom! It was definitely a pleasant surprise. They also offer different flavored puddings that always hit the spot. You won't need to go all the way to the city to get your pudding fix. From the classic Banana Pudding to Matcha Pudding, there are a few flavors that you will be able to choose from. Don't like pudding? There's also Bingsu, lattes, pastries, and more! One thing to keep in mind is that the Bingsu is available after 4PM (at least that was the info I was provided). I tried ordering it around 3PM when I last visited and it was unavailable. There's one staff that makes specifically makes it. If you're not sure, make sure to call! While there are many cafes around Northeastern Queens, there's something about Grey Cafe that always makes me come back for more! read more

My friends and I were looking for a place to grab dessert after Karaoke. Came at around 11pm on Saturday. The place was still bustling, most tables were occupied. It was really cold outside but there are a few outdoor seating areas decorated with lights and cozy chairs. If it wasn't so cold, my friends and I would've probably sat outside. We all ended up ordering the raspberry cheesecake and they put it on a tray that was about the size of an A4 sized paper. Not the best idea - when the tables were so far apart and we had to pull 2 of the smaller tables together, and a chair just to sit 3 people, and we were all reaching for the tray to eat our piece. I think individual trays or the plastic cake boxes would've been more convenient for us. The tray would probably be good for 2 people who are sitting in front of each other. The cheesecake was good! Wouldn't say it was the best cheesecake I've ever eaten but a delightful midnight snack. Other than that, the cafe had nice vibes - some people were studying, others were chilling. GREY Cafe came up with a very nice exterior decoration for COVID, the outdoor seating seems very popular when it is nice out. There's seats inside and outside. It seems they were not limiting capacity indoors, there were people sitting without social distancing. The outdoor did have some heating lamps, but wasn't too helpful. I would like to highly encourage to please take it off the menu: the matcha latte. This is nothing matcha. Perhaps the White Noise Coffee Co. Will be an inspiration. read more

Honestly one of my favorite sit down cafes for small groups in queens They have a separate seating area for groups of 4 or more and it is very quiet and perfect for catching up with friends. Lots of seating for working and their coffee is good! In the summer they have shaved ice for single serving sizes which is awesome since most places only offer large servings too big for 1 person. The shaved ice was definitely amazing with lots of fun surprise elements inside that makes it different from others! Unfortunately not available in the winter time anymore If you have time (since it's far from the train) and are looking for a nice causal coffee shop to do work or meet with friends I would definitely recommend this place read more

Most people that work here or are sitting are Korean. Large variety of food and drinks that taste good. The way they designed the cafe is pretty and got a nice vibe to it as well. Feels like I am in a more fancy cafe in middle of Manhattan not on some random street in Queens. Downside is every single time I come here it is packed inside , me personally I like it when cafes are not busy and I can chill by myself but there's a reason why it's packed. read more

There is nothing grey about Grey cafe. This beautiful, colorful garden oasis in a middle of a busy street is a happy place to spend a pleasant break from reality. The owner, Sunny is the friendliest. Having already had a delicious cappuccino and a great croissant here, I got hungry again, as we stayed longer than planned because a musician showed up and played a combo of classical and pop music. I was all breaded out but all the menu had, food-wise, were sandwiches. Sunny offered to make me a salad, off the menu. How nice is that? Flowers are everywhere around you here - what a great touch. Ordered from DoorDash as a pick up order and was super impressed! Food and drinks safely packaged by the time I got there, the taste of the Rose Latte was amazing. Egg bagel with cream cheese nice and soft and fluffy, regular bagel with herb cream cheese smelled amazing! The fizzy pineapple drink was great and nice soft sweet blueberry muffin had a cake like texture. The homemade banana pudding was delicious, fresh, good 50:50 ratio of pudding to bread. Staff also seemed really nice and would love to go there and sit and snack next time! read more
