Thank you JR for your honest and committed work. I brought in my old 1999 V6 Mustang 2 years ago to get the manual fixed. (It snapped on the freeway making gear selection useless) I called Greg's Auto and spoke to JR and he told me to get it towed to their facility to see what they can do. They completely fixed it and actually made it shift and drive better then when I first initially bought it. I brought in my fiancee car to see if her cars coolant was leaking. (I was quoted by my dealership that it was and they wanted to charge me an arm a leg to get it repaired, on top of that I purchased their premium extended warranty for the car and they said that the coolant hose isn't covered.) JR did a pressure test and told me there wasn't a leak or drop of pressure. He also asked if I would like to leave it overnight to make sure. He called me the next morning with great news and said there still wasn't a drop of pressure. He also reassured me that If there are any further issues to please bring it in. At the end of the day I truly admire and appreciate the hard work of independent shops. My sisters car broke down in Orange County , AAA (triple A) recommended Greg's Auto in Orange. Since it was late Saturday night and they are closed on Sundays, we had to wait until Monday to speak to the auto shop. We did they key drop off through the mail slot. Come Monday morning JR called within 30 minutes of opening. He told me the cost of the diagnosis which I okay's and that he would call me as soon as the diagnosis which only took about 30 minutes. JR was very thorough and explained everything to me.Their pricing was very reasonable and they were very quick. JR was also very good about keeping me in the loop and calling when he said he'd call. My mind was at ease and Greg's auto made the stressful situation so much more tolerable. The car has been running great since they fixed it last week. When my Saab would not suddenly start two years ago, I got it towed to a local mechanic, one that AAA had highly recommended. Upon bring it in the staff was friendly and helpful and diagnosed a fuel pump failure rather quickly. I gave them the okay to work on it right away and the estimate came out to about $900. This being my first car and all, I gave them the thumbs up without doing much outside consulting or comparative shopping. They got the job done and I was on my way in 4 days. Not bad I thought. I just went to get a oil leak fixed in my same Saab, and found a great place in the Orange area that specializes in Saabs. Brought my car in and mentioned the previous work that I had gotten done. When he asked the price I paid I casually dropped the $900 I had paid and his jaw dropped in horror. He was afraid to tell me the price he charges for the exact same job. He showed me an invoice of another customer who was getting a new fuel pump installed in her Saab (same model as me) and her price came to $300. He said that job should fluctuate between $200 to $600 for my car. Never $900. The head of the shop called the last job criminal and an absolute rip off. He was ashamed that a fellow mechanic would charge such ungodly prices. I wish I had comparatively shopped A LOT earlier. It was a shame that I was ripped off. Lesson learned. Thanks Greg. read more

First brought my husbands truck here when the drivers side door wouldn't open. I called around before choosing which shop to go to, what they thought it could be/cost/etc. I chose Greg's because they were the most friendly and accommodating. Pretty glad I did. Ended up having the door fixed and then coming back for about $3k worth of work on the Dodge Ram. My husband was deployed at the time and I'm pretty wary of being overcharged/ripped off being a woman, but I never felt that way here. JR showed me the old parts that were taken off along with the difference between those and the new, and showed me how much the parts cost for them to order side by side with my invoice. They came and showed me any issue, explained it in full detail, discussed the possibilities of what it could be and gave me the option to fix or not fix - and the many times I chose to forgo a repair/replacement, they did not pressure me or try to suggest I change my mind. They made sure I had a detailed report for my husband on what was fixed and why, along with what maybe needed done in the future. JR has excellent customer service skills and him, along with the few others who worked on the truck, did an outstanding job with remarkable attitudes and friendliness. Since my husband got home and looked over the work they did, he's nothing but happy. I called for a quote and JR gave me a fair one. I came in early the next morning (they are BUSY) to get the services I needed (water pump/steering pump) and the only thing they charged me more for was an extra belt associated with the water pump. No add ons or upsells, random charges for associated services that you'd expect to be included, "magically broken" things or nonsense recommendations, even when I asked if there were any problems they had noticed along the way. These guys are HONEST mechanics. In terms of work, they completed everything within the allotted time, always wiped down their hands before handling anything in my car, and cleaned the engine bay well before returning it to me. They even diagnosed another problem I had free of charge, and made a down to earth recommendation on whether or not it would be worth it to fix it for the price (it wasn't) Tips? This place is sneaky with their words. They had me sign a sheet of 108.00 and said they were going fix my brakes. I told them what to I wanted to do. They called me and gave me a price of $800-$1100. I said I can't afford that now and I will go get my truck. Then they charged me $26 for eval and never said there will be a charge just to look!!! Then the fat guy said well you signed a sheet for $108! They are shady so make sure you get correct wording from them. I paid them $20 and walked away with bad brakes. Not good service at all! After two recent trips to a repair shop out of state to fix a brake issue, the real problem had not been fixed. Despite the fact I had to pump my brakes to stop the vehicle and look at a break light and anti-lock dashboard light while I was driving. I made it back to Irvine. I took the vehicle to Greg's this morning and within minutes they diagnosed the problem. JR explained the problem and physically showed me the problem (a leaking rear wheel brake cylinder). A few hours later I was good to go (Greg test drove it first to make sure everything was okay). The price was reasonable. I had a chance to come across Greg's Orange Auto this morning at 630AM in the morning through AAA. A huge trash bag the size of a horse was rolling in the middle of the fast lane and it completely destroyed my front undercover protector for the radiator on my Prius. I have a 10 year old Honda Pilot that needed 100k mile service including replacing the timing belt and associated components. I had a quote from the Honda dealer, Greg's Auto did all the same work, plus additional items my car would need in another few months, for almost the same price! Plus they knew I was expecting to deliver my second child any day, so they went above and beyond service and washed and vacuumed my car for me also, "one less thing for you to worry about right now!" AAA approved to rip me off. Charged me $429.96 for a part that you can walk in any parts store and purchase for $140.00. That's over 300% mark up. They will take advantage of you if your car is disabled. The Auto Club was no help at all with my dispute. That AAA Approved sign in front means nothing. I used this shop because they were AAA APPROVED. I will never return. The response below is a completely untruthful statement from the business owner.........I copied and pasted below in case he wants to change his response. "We did install 3 of his cheaper clutches at no charge and spent countless hrs on the phone with him and his parts guy. After 3 days he agreed to letting me install my clutch. Which worked fine and he now gets a 24 month 24,000 mile warranty. Thanks for your imput" I have a 2 page invoice for 956.36 for a 2002 Ford Ranger describing all work performed to prove that this business owner is an outright LIAR!! I supplied 1 HEAVY DUTY (after market) clutch because the factory clutch has plastic in them that break all the time. This plastic is what had broken in my original clutch. His tech did not know how to install this after market heavy duty clutch correctly. I was told by my parts person that he resold that same clutch at a discounted price with no issues at all. Greg stated to me that I would have to pay Triple labor cost at ($400 x 3 = $1200) if the 2nd clutch I supplied didn't work. I said to Greg "you win" install your $429 clutch. I don't know a lot about cars and it's usually pretty obvious so I have to be careful not to go to places that will take advantage. Greg was helpful, informative and most importantly, not overpriced! Went to Anaheim on vacation. I went to my vehicle in the hotel parking garage after a day and a half of being parked and noticed a large puddle that looked to have dripped from under the vehicle. I couldn't determine what the liquid was and wasn't even 100% sure it actually came from the vehicle. I called AAA to see if they could recommend a mechanic nearby to check if there was actually a leak and even though there were a couple places closer they recommended Greg's Orange Auto because they guaranteed seeing me within an hour and they opened at 6:30 am. I called and they did get me in immediately. After determining that all the fluids were ok and tightening a couple things I was on my way. Drove across the desert the next day with no problems. If I ever find myself back in that area in need of a mechanic I will definitely give them a call. read more
