Went in for a oil change and asked them to look at something else. They came back saying I needed breaks and $4k in repairs. When he saw the look on my face he came back saying he could do it for $3k. Ironically I had the car inspected by ASE-certified technicians 2 months prior and no issues. I was able to get my car and leave even though they tried to tell me the work was started, it was parked in the front parking lot. Lol. I went to another mechanic and he said I didnt need breaks. Reporting my car in car fax without my prior consent is not good, especially when the needed repairs are fake. Not sure how this place has good reviews, they are notorious for scams in my community. I came in without an appointment on a Friday afternoon. I waited too long to have my car looked at for some mechanical issues because it's hard to find a reliable mechanic that can do the quality work, communicate effectively and provide a good value with timing and pricing. It's usually too risky and time consuming so I avoid it and usually take it to the dealership when needed... ouch $$ I found all of the above wants at Placentia Super Service when my car basically told me I was out of time and couldn't procrastinate any longer. I called and worked with Joseph who filled me in on everything and worked to get me a loaner when the fix wasn't going to be done within the few hours I gave them - which I was not surprised. I don't get work done in my car often because of logistics, but also because it seems mechanics only do brakes or transmissions... or just take forever to get anything else done! I had a great tech and team that worked to solve the problem(s) and got it done in record time by end of day on Monday. I am so grateful and will be back despite them being further away. read more

I got new tires from Costco and was referred here for an alignment. After the service, my steering wheel was off and pulling to the right, so I had to call and come back to get it fixed. I wasn't happy about needing a second visit for something that should've been done correctly the first time, but they did fix the issue when I returned. The waiting area is clean and comfortable, with snacks and drinks available. There's also a window to watch the technicians working. Overall, the service was good. In terms of price range it was about $180 for the alignment. I appreciate Ricky and Korean guy forgot his name but appreciate both of their help! read more

I went to Placentia Super Service for a second opinion and the price of item was inflated from $156 to $2003 and they were trying to keep my car by calling me on the phone trying to shake me down for more money. The owner did call me but I refused to take my car back there after being swindled by them. I didn't believe my car needed all that work but it was a classic bait and switch. This is, by far, the absolute worst auto shop I have ever dealt with. If I could give this company negative 5 stars, I would. In retrospect, it's my fault for ignoring the customer I heard complaining to the management about his experience when I was dropping my car off. Without getting into details, these guys are scam artists, like what you expect at a stereotypical used car dealer. Their communication is terrible, and, in short, no one takes accountability for their mistakes. In short, I was promised a day and a half fix, and they bricked my car. Then they sat on it for days, only to tell me that a dealer needed to fix it. The dealer then did a proper job, and told me that they had Mickey Moused some wire they were supposed to fix, and that their assessment was incorrect. I will be using my dealer from now on, for the same price (if not less), and with the reliability I expect from professionals. I have never left a review before but my experience was top of the line. I walked in the place was clean, customer service was great, Chris helped me out and made the whole process seamless. They sent me my estimate via phone, gave me a free 70 pt inspection (big reason why I came) and I selected what work I wanted to proceed with. They will attempt to rip you off‼ The latch on my car trunk broke, I found the part on eBay, brand new for $53, but I was being impatient and didn't want to wait 2 days for it to get shipped, so I took it to a couple shops to see if they could get the part the same day. This shop quoted me $580, which is so inflated compared to what the first shop quoted me. Mind you, I found the latch myself in Anaheim for $25, yes the part was used, but I managed to fix my car trunk myself in 20 minutes with a simple YouTube video and I know nothing about cars. Been coming here for years. We recently found out that our used cars extended warranty service was honored here at this location. That's fantastic as opposed to taking it to a dealer which is 20 to 30 minutes away. They do a full diagnostic with photos. So they take pictures of things that they recommend and give you a scale for immediate need something to keep an eye on and otherwise OK. Shop is pretty upfront with all of the costs. Last time we had to take it in for a trunk latch that wasn't functioning correctly and setting off an alarm. It took him a minute to figure it out, but to make things right they ended up doing the service entirely free and just taking care of the customer. They've done that before where they've covered a rental car for a few days if needed. They work with you. When highly recommended, I appreciate the care they take into servicing the car and being upfront with the work. read more

High $$$$. I had brought my vehicle in before a long trip for some safety concerns and transmission issues I was having with my vehicle running rough and stalling in traffic. I also requested the brake pads be replaced as required. They did not service my brakes as requested, they stated, "Your brakes are fine". *They were not. I noticed they also did not rotate the tires as requested. Shortly after receiving my vehicle back and a 300 miles away and in the rain, my vehicle failed with the very problem I took it into Placentia Super Service for. This is the second time this type of problem has happened where the my vehicle ended up operating worst than it did before they touched it!! I ended up having my vehicle towed to another shop, a dealership. All the work took a few weeks to diagnose, repair, replace, correct and pay for the work preformed. The dealership also pointed out that the brake pads should have been replaced at Placentia Super Service, since one was at 2mm! Like a previous visits to Placentia Super Service, they have not been accountable when I reached out to them. I have not heard back from P.S.S. since my last communication over a week ago. *I recommend everyone read all the 1 and 2 star reviews they received on Yelp. Interestingly, many of their 5 star reviews are by misc people that only posted couple of reviews or less. I suppose if you are only seeking staff that smiles and talks you into excessive work with a waiting room with snacks, this could be a place for you. You pay close to $300 for a warranty, but if you need to use it, you're charged a $200 diagnostic fee to determine whether the issue is actually covered. The fee is waived if the repair qualifies under the warranty, but if it doesn't, you're responsible for the cost. This policy can discourage people from bringing their vehicles in, especially since most customers don't know the cause of a mechanical issue before it's diagnosed. If a problem appears within the months following the service, I think the vehicle should be inspected without requiring a $200 fee upfront just to find out whether the warranty applies. It doesn't feel like a very customer-friendly process, especially considering that you are paying a premium coming to this company in the first place. read more

This place was promising at first since Yelp referred me to them. This review goes for my plug in hybrid van. If you have one, please do NOT go here. Let me just say, what was supposed to be a one day diagnostic test, turned into several days. This could be because per David, they have only 1 hybrid/electric tech & 'he had been very busy with other cars'. After a couple of days, I get a call and he tells me that diagnostic still has not finished and they were leaning towards the battery. He tries to upsell me on replacing the battery with a '3 year warranty' and that if I go to the dealership for a recall swap out it would take months to finish. I tell him let me see if it's worth it than spend on a new battery & at the end of the convo he says 'well we don't know for sure if it's the battery' so we'll have to wait after diagnosis'. Why in the heck would you try to sell me a new battery with warranty and tell me you were leaning towards that as the problem and at the end say well we don't know. Red flag !! Following day, he calls me and says good news, it's not the EV battery and it has to do with connection port. Relief, sinks in my head. But David now calls to tell me, since diagnosing is taking more than an hour, we will have to charge you an extra $400+ on top of the $225 for diagnosing exactly what the problem is. So I have to pay more money for the only tech who works with hybrids who is already busy for a total of close to $700 just to pinpoint the problem & not even do the repair. Wth!!!! Double red flag . Here's the kicker, the following day I want my van out of this shady place and will suck up the cost of the diagnostic testing of $225 so I ask for the report. David says to me that they don't have a report and rather a story of what was tested. So I ask him for it and he says that the 1 hybrid specialist tech had to leave on a family emergency. Okay, so David can't pull it up. I don't get it. It's only the tech that did it can. How do I even know diagnostic was even done? After speaking with David, a tech taps David and says 'we CAN'T find the 'story' just drop the diagnostic fee for him'. Triple red flag Apparently if they say a diagnostic test is done,, it's done. No report or anything. Don't you think paying $220 or even more if it takes longer , you can't provide a written report. This review is based on my hybrid van and this place nickels and dimes you left and right. BEWARE. Especially when it comes to diagnostic testing with this place: definitely won't be back. read more
