Looking at all the reviews I see that I'm the outlier. This will be a longer review but I feel deatils are important. That being said, my only recommendation is if you receive what appears to be a high estimate, I'd say shop around. I brought my car in a year ago(01/27/25). I was in the process of getting a work vehicle, and knew I would have to sell it. Placentia Super Service not only was highly recommended, but also an authorized AAA mechanic. My car wouldn't start one morning. I knew I wanted to get a full inspection before selling it anyways. I drove it over. The person helping me out(Paul) explained they would look at the car and send over an estimate and pictures they found. They asked if I was going to wait but I informed them my ride was taken care of. This was roughly 8-9 AM. I went to work and hadn't heard anything. I called for an update and was told "when we know something you will". I borrowed a car for work the following day. Once again I still hadn't heard anything. I headed over to PSS. I approached Paul. He pulls his computer to screen(to show me) and says "as soon as we know you will know". I then asked if they had a loaner and he said he had no idea when it was being returned. I then was informed I could go to Hertz and they could get me a great rate as long as I gave them my repair order. I had already secured a car when Paul said he should be getting the loaner back. I only add this because I don't want to just stress the complaints. Fast forward to the following day. I received a texted quote for a little more than $3,200. I then received a call asking if I saw it and reviewed it. We talked over the estimate. I informed Paul I needed to think about my options. I was then informed that my vehicle would start to accrue storage fees. You could see where I'd be a little annoyed as I feel like I've been extremely patient throughout the process. Also, looking at what PSS prides them on I feel they've missed the mark quite a few times up to this point. Paul then said if I wanted to wait until the following day I would not be charged for storage. On my way home, I called another mechanic. He was hesitant giving any suggestions on what's wrong with the car without seeing it. Across the board he was significantly cheaper. One of the items I was told needed replacement, he insisted this was not the issue. He said, with my make and model, he's never needed to replace a timing chain. The next day I called PSS. I was told I could tow it out and would only be charged the inspection fee. Here is where I felt I couldn't not write a review. Paul inquired why I was declining the repairs and why I was getting it towed. He asked if I was looking to sell the vehicle. One of his solutions was purchasing my vehicle. He said right now it's not worth anything. He could purchase the vehicle, waive my inspection, for $500, and then he'd sell it. I declined and towed it to a nearby mechanic. The other local mechanic took my civic in. By this time I was in possession of my work vehicle so I was in no immediate rush to get it back. I was worried there was something very wrong with my car(after receiving the large estimate from PSS), and asked that he be very sure this car wouldn't have any huge issues after I sold it. After a few days I received my civic back and it was up and running. All he had to do was replace the battery. This all happened last January, 2025. I didn't want to write a review, and then immediately see all the items PSS listed as issues, turn out to need to be replaced. As I write this review, it's been close to 15 months, and I've heard/seen any issues. Once again, I seen a ton of happy customers post their 5 star reviews for Placentia Super Service. I just couldn't have my experience not be stated. I'm not the type of customer that's always looking for the cheapest rate. I understand that a place like PSS, that sends estimates along with pictures/videos, does cost money. But when they say it needs over $3200 in work, when all it needed was a new battery, that's just not right. read more

I got new tires from Costco and was referred here for an alignment. After the service, my steering wheel was off and pulling to the right, so I had to call and come back to get it fixed. I wasn't happy about needing a second visit for something that should've been done correctly the first time, but they did fix the issue when I returned. The waiting area is clean and comfortable, with snacks and drinks available. There's also a window to watch the technicians working. Overall, the service was good. Been coming here for years. We recently found out that our used cars extended warranty service was honored here at this location. That's fantastic as opposed to taking it to a dealer which is 20 to 30 minutes away. They do a full diagnostic with photos. So they take pictures of things that they recommend and give you a scale for immediate need something to keep an eye on and otherwise OK. Shop is pretty upfront with all of the costs. Last time we had to take it in for a trunk latch that wasn't functioning correctly and setting off an alarm. It took him a minute to figure it out, but to make things right they ended up doing the service entirely free and just taking care of the customer. They've done that before where they've covered a rental car for a few days if needed. They work with you. When highly recommended, I appreciate the care they take into servicing the car and being upfront with the work. read more

Not sure what the point of an appointment is if the service (oil change) provided will be a 2.5 hour wait. I went out of my way to make this appointment. For comparison: The place I normally go to has a similar online scheduling system and they guarantee an oil change in under 45 minutes at your scheduled time. It's really difficult to find genuine and honest service these days without being overcharged or taken advantage of, especially as a younger girl. I had multiple dealerships try to take advantage of me over an issue with my AC, and Joe was completely upfront and honest about what actually needed to be fixed instead of trying to overcharge me. They repaired everything at an honest and reasonable price and were worth every penny. I brought my car in on Wednesday morning for an oil leak and within a couple hours they had sent a link to the site they use with pictures and descriptions of what needed to be done on my car (I've never been to an auto shop that does this). Ricky let me know that my car wouldn't be done by later that day (which was fine by me) and said that he would call when my car was ready for pickup. They had my car ready for me by the next morning. High $$$$. I had brought my vehicle in before a long trip for some safety concerns and transmission issues I was having with my vehicle running rough and stalling in traffic. I also requested the brake pads be replaced as required. They did not service my brakes as requested, they stated, "Your brakes are fine". *They were not. I noticed they also did not rotate the tires as requested. Shortly after receiving my vehicle back and a 300 miles away and in the rain, my vehicle failed with the very problem I took it into Placentia Super Service for. This is the second time this type of problem has happened where the my vehicle ended up operating worst than it did before they touched it!! I ended up having my vehicle towed to another shop, a dealership. All the work took a few weeks to diagnose, repair, replace, correct and pay for the work preformed. The dealership also pointed out that the brake pads should have been replaced at Placentia Super Service, since one was at 2mm! Like a previous visits to Placentia Super Service, they have not been accountable when I reached out to them. I have not heard back from P.S.S. since my last communication over a week ago. *I recommend everyone read all the 1 and 2 star reviews they received on Yelp. Interestingly, many of their 5 star reviews are by misc people that only posted couple of reviews or less. I suppose if you are only seeking staff that smiles and talks you into excessive work with a waiting room with snacks, this could be a place for you. Otherwise, like most people, we prefer shops with honest staff and businesses with integrity, I would recommend trying OTHER businesses than Placentia Super Service. read more

Just picked up my SUV after a pretty extensive repair. It is driving like an absolute dream! Can't say it's felt that powerful in a while. I hope it never changes. I'm very happy with how it makes sharp turns without issue, no more vibrating of the gas pedal on acceleration, and it is perfectly aligned. I'm very satisfied. Overall, friendly employees, and fair price for excellent repairs. They also gave me a 3 year (36k mile) warranty on the repair, that includes roadside assistance. I'm no mechanic, but I knew something was wrong when I first heard noise under my hood during sharp turns and felt a difference in the driving including a vibrating gas pedal on acceleration. I was hoping it was just out of alignment as I had the misfortune of driving over a traffic cone a couple weeks earlier. So I took it to Placentia Super Service, my #1 shop for repairs. Had a lot of work done here in recent years on my 13 yr old ford explorer. I was surprised to learn I needed some extensive axle work, etc. Of course it took a few days to get it back due to the work it required. I recommend you make an appt if possible to avoid the surprise of having to leave your car for a few days, or if you do, maybe they'll have a loaner waiting for you. Anyway, I was fortunate to get a beautiful loaner from them at no extra charge for one of the days my car was in the shop so I could do my routine work. That was extremely helpful! I called into Placentia Super Service and Joe was able to get me in and promised to have it done for my trip that night. Promises made and promises kept. I found Placentia Super Service on Yelp surprisingly!!! I went on the Projects section of the Yelp app for a 2nd opinion regarding the drive shaft on my car. I made my appointment on the Yelp app too. The general manager replied to my request for a second opinion and encouraged me to bring my car in and he would give me a second opinion. When I arrived, he put my car up with a car lift so we could look underneath and he explained what he saw. He pointed out the drive shaft and he stated that it was not damaged like the dealership said. He stated it was missing bolts and the needed to be installed for safety reasons. He said it would only be $156.00. I was happy to know the drive shaft was not damaged like the dealership said. That saved me $2500. So I thought. Then the general manager said he could fix the bolts but he would have to order them. I agreed to that. He then said he wanted to complete the inspection which I agreed to. Here is where the energy shifts. He then proceeded to find all these OTHER things wrong with my car that needed to repaired immediately. So, basically he did a bait and switch on me. The invoice that was presented to me was an inflated amount. It quickly went from $156 to $2003. Yeah, horrible. It would've been fine if these were recommended services. No, it was a complete shakedown. I was sitting in their waiting room and their cashier came to me with an invoice filled with services I did not come in there for. They had completely abandoned the second opinion and now they were cornering me trying get me to sign an invoice that I could not even afford. They had my car and they were basically stating that my car was not drivable and I needed all those services... I knew it was a lie but I didn't know what to do. They kept telling me that I could sign up for this predatory loan and they would give me 3 months to pay off the loan. I told the cashier I couldn't do that. After about 10 minutes, I decided to get the services. I was curious of what kind work that did and I wanted to make sure my car was safe. I left my car overnight. They gave me a loaner car. Next day I was waiting for the call to pick up my car. Instead I got a call from the cashier trying to shake me down for more money... saying that they had underestimated the service and the bolt was broken. I told him I was not going to give him one more cent. I spoke to manager and told him that I found it suspicious that I came for a second opinion but the very thing he was supposed to repair had not been repaired. Manager then said he would not charge me any more money. It was horrible. It's sad because I really wanted like this repair shop. The dealership is shady but they are shady too. I will say this took place roughly about a month ago April 2025. Here are some pros and cons. I recently took my 2016 dodge charger R/T in for an oil pressure switch replacement after getting a check engine light, and I was confident that was the issue. During their inspection, they recommended additional repairs, which I agreed to. These included control arm replacement, a brake fluid exchange, and other related work. In total, I spent around $2,600 on the initial service. Before bringing my car in, I had no unusual noises or issues beyond what I originally asked to be fixed. After picking up the vehicle, I immediately noticed a new squeaky, belt-like noise as soon as I started the car -- while still in the lot. I went back inside right away and was told it was "probably nothing" and to bring it back if it continued. A few days later, the noise became significantly louder and developed into a harsh, repetitive knocking sound. When I checked under the hood, I saw fluid spraying, and the engine sounded like something was failing. I immediately turned the car off to avoid further damage and had it towed back to the shop the next day, since I had just gotten off work. At that point, I was told it was a water pump issue, which they stated they were "not liable for." What really concerned me is that they later mentioned they had heard the noise earlier but never communicated that to me during the initial service -- even after performing what they described as a "full inspection" and telling me my car would be "almost 100%" after the repairs. I was initially quoted around $1,100 for the water pump repair, which was later reduced to about $725 after I pushed back. This was on top of the $2,600 I had already paid. Regardless, this was an issue that did not exist before my visit, and I felt put in a position where I had no choice but to pay to get my car back in working condition. Overall, the lack of transparency and communication was very disappointing. I would strongly recommend getting a second opinion and ensuring any issues are clearly documented before leaving your vehicle with them. UPDATE: After posting this review, management reached out and acknowledged the communication issue. They issued a refund for the water pump and offered a complimentary oil service. I was in a position to have to do a complete engine swap, and they took the anxiety and pressure out of the entire process for me ... for the very beginning Gilbert was truly compassionate considerate, and explained everything to me and answered my questions over and over again and couldn't have been more patient, kind, and professional ... this is prob the best shop i've been to by far. Joe was very helpful and got me in and out of the shop within the hour for my oil change. one of the cooler things they do is if they see something wrong with your car, they send you a text with a link and it shows everything in depth including a video of what the actual part does and how important or non important it is. the lobby is also insane as you can see them actually working on your car while being inside with the AC. they also has free snacks, water and coffee and also have chargers with a TV AND a little arcade machine. the value for my actual oil change id say is very fair especially for that summary overview page with the pics of what is actually bad with the car plus the detailed professional animation of what the parts actually do. read more
