This review is for their new receptionist as well. I've been a patient of Dr Yu for years now and he has been a great doctor. Yet recently the receptionist, Aricelly, makes Dr Yu look like the worst Dr ever! I've been having a cough for 10 days now and Aricelly took information down regarding my symptoms and not one appointment has been made to see me. I took covid tests through work to make sure it was not that and got negative 2x. It takes a few days for her to get back to me with what Dr Yu said. I was prescribed zitromax without being seen in person, not even ONE assessment was made. This is why the community gets C.diff or resistant bacteria because of wrongly prescribed antibiotics without even an assessment. Aricelly is rude over the phone. I asked for a doctor's note for missing work since Monday 9/13 and I was told it would be completed the following day. It is now 9/15 and I still haven't received the doctor's note and on top of that I was barely told that I had to pay $75 for a note. When I asked for a refund after already being seen by urgent care properly, I was told I was not able to because Dr Yu already wrote the letter. So where is this fucking letter. Receptionist always say they are busy with clients but Everytime I wait their in their clinic there is NO ONE waiting in the office. Aricelly is just very dishonest. When I asked to speak to the manager, she claims she is the manager, when a day ago I spoke to a different person as the manager. This office needs to get rid of this Aricelly. Dr Gregory yu was my primary doctor for years. He's a great doctor. After his retirement, the new doctor, Dr Nare is the worst doctor as well as her employees. I was running late for my appointment because I was driving from Irvine CA. It took me more than two hours to get there. I called them and told them I will be 20 minutes late. They told me the doctor will still see you this one time even tho I was running late. When I was 5 minutes away they called me and said the doctor will not see you because you are now considered a no show. I asked if I can reschedule and they told me I have to pay 75 dollar fee to even get another appointment. I asked for the print out copy of this no show being late policy that you have to pay 75 dollars. The paper they gave me said if you do a no show you may be charged 75 dollars. They charged me 75 dollars because they told me if you're more than 15 minutes late that is a no show. The policy does not state that being 15 minutes late is a no show. They made up that lie and I confronted them to say I need my refund because your policy does not tell me that 15 minutes late is a no show, as well as not being informed about this policy after making the appointment. They gave me the refund but Dr Nare said since we refunded you the money you will no longer be my patient and to find a new doctor. I've been looking for a new PCP and found Dr. Gregory Yu through my HMO Blue Shield app (in network) list of providers. After reading ALL the reviews, including the negative ones, I said to myself, "Why not, let me give Dr. Yu a try.". He sounds like a great doctor. So i submitted the change request via BlueShield site and waited patiently for the change to take effect the following month. It's been over a month and I hadn't seen the change. So I decided to call my insurance to check on the request to update my PCP. For whatever reason, Blueshield never got my initial request. However they were amazing helping me sort the matter on the spot, calling Dr. Yu's office directly to see if I could get an appointment (BlueShield would retro the request for me to avoid waiting another month for the update). The blueshield rep puts me on hold, then comes back a few minutes later and he said he couldn't get me an appointment. He actually was confused by the information he received from whomever he spoke to. Apparently Dr. Yu's office has a really strange appointment system. One that confuses people. The Blueshield rep had never experienced this with other facilities. "It doesn't make sense to me. I'm a little confused myself.". "They take appointments day by day, they would have to call back to see if they can even give me an appointment," the soonest they could fit me in as a new patient for a physical would be July!? I didn't even get to switch my PCP! I decided to just not switch at all after the feedback I got from my BlueShield rep. I guess I will just keep searching for a new PCP, but first I will be calling myself to see what type of service I get before I call my insurance to make the update. Bummer, because I was really impressed with all the nice things everyone said about Dr. Yu. My 1 star review is more for his staff. I'm sure he is a great doctor, too bad I'll never get the opportunity to see for myself. Oh well, I guess Dr. Yu is not meant to be my new PCP. My husband and I have been patients here for over 20 years. Dr. Yu has a great calm manner, is up-to-date in his knowledge, the staff is very nice. If you are unable to meet with Dr. Yu, his Nurse Practitioner is great too. Totally satisfied and bummed that he isn't in our new insurance network. read more

I never regretted to switch to Dr. Gregory Yu. He was very thorough, easy to talk to and his staff were just as friendly and very helpful. Dr. Yu explained everything in a very clear manner using layman terms comprehensible to me. His clinic is immaculate, very clean. All The staff I met were so far very nice and pleasant to talk to. I love going to his clinic. I did have a nice rapport with his Nurse Practitioner, Bernadette. So amiable and knowledgeable. I felt confident having them as the right medical professionals to help me with my health issues. I would recommend them to my friends and relatives anytime. In Fact my daughter switched to his clinic, too. She liked what she heard when she was with me. So 100%satisfied. No regrets. read more

And, I'm not saying it lightly! - A doctor who actually CARES! - During my annual physical/other appointments, Dr. Yu and Kellie (who is wonderful too!) took their time to meet with me to address all of my concerns; they didn't rush the appointment - Friendly and helpful staff (ALL of them are!); they greet you with a smile when you come into the office; when I need a referral authorization they get on top of it so I don't have to wait for days to see the referred doctor; when I am unwell and want to get advice from Dr. Yu, Alisa would affirm me that she'll talk to Dr. Yu and get back to me, and indeed she does - Clean and beautiful facility - Free parking available on lot I have eczema (skin condition) and it's not always easy for me to be comfortable with a doctor to share my concerns; didn't help that my previous doctors showed no sympathy . Dr. Yu on the other hand is an exception; from the first day I came into his office, he knew immediately of my condition and made it easy for me to talk to him. He gave advice of how to treat and prescribed the right medication--truly a lifesaver! When needed, he referred me to see a Dermatologist or Allergist, and the referrals never took long. Very hard to get an appointment with the actual doctor. I have been there four or five times and they always have me see the nurse practitioner. I have no complaints against her but I have asked to see the doctor twice now and both times they tell me that I have to wait four months for his availability to open up. That is quite ridiculous. They told me that if it were an emergency I would be able to see him quicker. Well if it were an emergency I would probably go to the ER or at least urgent care. It is not unreasonable to want an appointment within 30 days. I have been a patient for four years now but I think I'm done. read more

If I could give 0 stars, I would. Yu's office is a disgrace to the field of medicine. Unprofessional. Inhumane. I was very excited in the beginning that I found an office that seemingly cared for patients. My first visit was with the NP and she was knowledgeable about ketogenic diet and modern medicine in general. However, my experience since then has been awful. About a month ago, I had asked for some tests, including blood type. The office was so invasive in their questioning that I felt personally attacked. Beyond that, they initially denied my request for blood type test. I was stunned! Blood type?! whats wrong with wanting to know your blood type?!!! Unbelievable. More recently, I tried to schedule an appointment for a relative who switched over to Yu's office a few months ago when I had hopes that this would be a promising office. After multiple calls to the office and multiple false and misleading promises to call back AND after 2 weeks of my relative patiently waiting for an appointment because she has been in severe pain, the office staff informed me that Yu refuses to take in my relative. I was beyond shocked. Apparently, Yu failed to update his patient preferences with the medical provider and the patient is somehow bearing the burden for his irresponsibility. Anyways, Yu and the office nonchalantly refused to take my relative as a new patient even though Yu was assigned as her primary. The saddest part was the lack of care during this entire process. I think its a blessing that we will never step foot in this office. I would NEVER want this inconsiderate, unsympathetic and unprofessional "doctor" to be near me or anyone I care for. read more

I never take the time to write reviews on anyone. I will make an exception because my health is on the line. I was a patient at this office until today, I know Dr Yu has retired and this review isn't about him but his staff. I have been trying to get a new glucose meter and I called the office 3 weeks ago. They said they'd help by getting my insurance to approve it. I never heard back from anyone and I called back every week, I was put on hold for a long time until finally yesterday the staff that answered the call said someone will call you back with information by the end of the day today or for sure tomorrow. Today is the end of the office day and still no one called me. This is unacceptable for a diabetic like me. I have tried calling the insurance myself and they say the doctors needs to call them. It's very unfortunate that you can't rely on people to help you out. I mean I get money deducted from my pay check every week to be able to have a doctor and Dr. Yu's office failed me, like I said before Dr Yu was great but I can't say the same about his staff. read more

Don't trust these 5 star reviews. Yu and all of his nurses are TERRIBLE. They literally don't know what they're doing. Me and my family have had him as our primary care physician, and while I don't know about my parents, me and my sister have had nothing but a bad time. They misdiagnosed us both for some pretty obvious and extreme conditions. For my sister, she had permanent damage to her throat because of their neglect. For me, last winter I went in because I had developed an awful case of strep throat. His nurse came in (of course after having me wait for over half an hour) and told me that it was a virus going around. She used a 5 minute strep test on me, said it was negative, and sent me home with nothing. I was in SEVERE pain. So much, that I was crying on the way back to the car because I hadn't gotten any pain meds. We called up a personal friend who's a nurse, and she told us that it was strep and got me immediately on antibiotics and ibuprofin. She also told us that those 5 minute strep tests are completely unreliable and are generally 50 percent wrong. I got better after a few days, and my mom had me go in for a follow up at Yu's for a cough she was concerned about. After another 30 minute minimum wait for the nurse, she asked what was wrong (and had this attitude of why I was bothering her again when she already told me it was a virus) and I told her of the cough. I also told her that I got treated for strep, and she seemed personally offended that I got on antibiotics. I got better because of the antibiotics. And her diagnosis was completely wrong. And she had the gall to scoff at me for getting better. Anyway, she told me the cough was nothing and sent me on my way. FIND A DIFFERENT DOCTOR. THIS ONE IS NO GOOD. (And this is only my story. Don't even get me started on my sister -_-;) read more

They get back to you quickly when you call with questions and will many times solve/treat you via phone with you having to come in to the office. I'm so happy with Dr. Yu and his team, I feel very well taken care of from the moment I make my appointment until I leave the office. I've been to a few different doctors before discovering Dr. Yu and I didn't have the best experiences with them, making appointments was difficult, staff were rude, the waiting rooms were packed and the doctors were in a hurry. I was beginning to think this is just how it is now days. I'm so glad to discover this is not true! When I first called to make an appointment with Dr. Yu's office, the receptionist was so friendly, she took the time to ask me important questions and actually listened patiently while I answered (which was not always my experience at other places). When I arrived for my appointment, I genuinely felt welcomed by the staff. The waiting room has a lovely spa-like decor and lighting, there is even soothing spa music which makes for a relaxing environment. Let's face it, if we are going to the doctor we are probably not feeling well, but this environment made me feel comfortable. My appointment was with nurse practitioner Kellie, she is AMAZING! She is very detail oriented, she gets to the crux of the issue and takes the time to explain things clearly and offer different types of solutions, depending on your needs. She doesn't leave the room until you've had all of your questions answered. I can't express enough how pleased I was with my visit. One thing I really like about this office is the availability of the nurse practitioners, if you need to be seen right away, they can accommodate you.
