I received vitamins by iv here I was told that the cost was 150 and I paid a 65 co pay they billed for over 1200. My insurance paid zero now they are billing me for another 175 this can't be legitimate can it My cost is 150 supposedly and insurance is billed over 1200 now they want me to pay another 175 for a total of 240 dollars on a service that was supposed to be 150 what a bunch of crooks. Dr. Armenta is not a good Doctor. She's dismissive, lacks patience and does not advocate for her patients.

Like others who have reviewed this doctor, I can tell you her office is all about wasting your time to bring you in for another appointment. Will not refill a simple NSAID prescription over the phone even though it was at her advice. You have to make an appointment. Xray results? You have to make a PAID phone appointment so she can read the summary paragraph to you. Immediately after she will send an email of the paper she just read. After receiving the email I was very pleased to learn that I can still read. (Sarcasm intended) Physical? Well, don't bother talking about anything that ails you for which your are taking medication. You have to make another appointment. Perhaps this is because your medical file is poorly handled and they have no idea what medication your taking in the first place even after you've watched them write it down. So I went to see my doctor and let me tell you she was rushing to see me. She was in & out of rooms. Horrible just horrible. So today she missed diagnosed me. She reviewed my labs with me and said it was all within normal range and to come to found out my hemoglobin A1C was high!!! I am now a diabetic and have to see an endocrinologist today. Dr Maya has been my doctor for 3 years . She is the best doctor I have seen in a long time . She is very thorough, caring, compassionate and non judgmental . She believes in the traditional and holistic approach in medicine. She will recommend vitamin supplements if you need them . She will never push you to buy them . That is your choice . I don't understand how there can be any bad reviews because she is soo nice, knowledgeable and very professional . When you first meet her as a new patient, she takes her time to talk to you about your health concerns and gives you a lab order to complete . She advises you to schedule follow up visit for a physical and reviews your results. Depending on your health needs she will refer you to a specialist if you need one. That is the normal process with any primary doctor at any health organizations period. I was a patient for Dr.Armenta for 5 years. I only visited her maybe 3 times during this time. I would describe that she is very unprofessional personnel. she doesn't have a right to call herself as medical professional, specially a doctor. what she does it's only a business at her clinic. when you go there it feels like 3d studio. Scam clinic. As soon as told her that I'm not satisfied with her service, she refused on me, she rejected my MRI authorization and hung up the zoom screen on me. afterwards she called police on me. Zero stars would be appropriate , but that is not an option. Armenta ruined my husband's quality of life after he sustained a serious back injury. He went to her for a referral to a spine specialist and she told him that 3 or four weeks of back pain was insignificant, come back in a month or 2 for a referral to a specialist. Turns out he had a spinal injury that could have been corrected if he had surgery within 6 weeks. He died with a resultant severe spinal deformity and constant pain and depression. Also, she was my doctor as well, and she once inappropriately commented how hot he was for his age. I got stuck with Armenta as my primary after my fabulous primary Dr. Bonnie Moura retired, who suspected I had a hidden heart problem. Armenta was my doctor for quite some time when my cardiology team (assembled due to Moura) finally discovered I had aortic stenosis due to a birth defect and needed surgery. In all that time before the necessary surgery, Armenta NEVER laid a stethoscope to my chest to listen to my heart our lungs. IT WAS CLEAR SHE NEVER BOTHERED TO READ MY CHART OR SHE WOULD HAVE KNOWN I WAS CLOSE TO DIEING AND NEEDED SURGERY!!!!! When I went to her a few days before surgery to get approval for pre-op labs, she looked at me like a dolt and said "Don't have what you don't need Catherine." IT WAS SO EFFING CLEAR SHE NEVER ONCE READ MY CHART, MEDICAL HISTORY OR REPORTS FROM OTHER DOCTORS IN HER OWN BUILDING.! However, she DID find my husband, who later suffered unnecessary pain because of her incompetence to be fine. read more

In the room, she was kind enough - but the billing practices are super skeezy. She won't discuss lab results over the phone: I have to make a second appointment to know if anything is wrong. She won't discuss prescriptions during a physical, or any concerns other than simply the physical. You have to make another appointment. Making patients wait 30+ minutes OVER and OVER again when you can address a concern easily just so you can bill them & their insurance doesn't endear this office to me & I'll be going elsewhere. read more

Pregnant client. Went twice for hydration IV. Was assisted by Valeria both times. She was kind but negligent. Both times I experienced horrible physical reactions during my treatment because she increased the drip. The second time I went, I began to shiver uncontrollably. I found out later that when a cold drip runs too quickly into the bloodstream, it causes the body to shiver horrifically. She told me she "didn't know why I was reacting like that" so I told her to unhook me. Her idea of apology was telling me to "call 911 or go to ER". she also refused to obey patient protocol by demanding we leave my door open so she could "monitor me" which was against my wishes as people in her office were coughing. I tried to resolve it over the phone but the manager never responded. I blame Valeria above anyone else for letting this happen to me twice. Will never be returning. Sigh... I went to Dr. Armenta's office after I went to emergency because of kidney infection. ER doctor asked me to visit primary dr. to follow up. I made an appointment went there dr.'s office didn't get any info from ER so I had do my blood test again and went there 4days later. At the first time when I visit, I went there with my 3 kids and she gave me wired look and I didn't feel invited. Second time visiting, with blood test result, she asked me to wait kids out side of the office which is hall way or patio because she said this is not a kids doctors office and they are everywhere and could disturbing other patients(there was none except me and my kids). I doubted my ear. How can Dr. asking patient leave the kids outside. But I had to get prescription before I go to quite bit long trip. So I didn't argue and asked 2 of my older kids to watch my phone outside patio bench. I took my 1 year old baby only. After meeting Dr. all the nurses, receptionist and other Dr. came up to me and say sorry what happened. And when I came out, other Dr. brought my kids in the reception area. (She must felt bad too). One of my kid was made little mess and I kneeled down and clean up with wet paper towels. And Dr. Armenta saw it and she said "that's why I asked them to stay out of the office. imagine if there were other patients(which there was none still)." I didn't say anything. While I was waiting for prescription, Dr. Armenta came up to me again and asked. "Can you come without kids when you come back?"(how can she ask such things?) I said, "there are nobody able to babysit my kids." She said, "what about your husband?" I said, "working"(obviously, it was middle of the week) She said "don't you have a babysitter?" (Not everyone has babysitter) I said, " I wish I have one. I will leave as soon as I get my prescription." She still keep asking to leave the kids outside. And other Dr. (young and kind) told me "its okay. I told them to come in. I have 3 kids my own too. I understand. Don't worry about it." I felt so thankful and relieved. And Dr. Armenta keeps asked me to let them stay outside. And other Dr. told her she will take care kids while I waiting for prescription. Other nurse was helping me clean up and said it's okay. I never thought Doctor can ask to patient to leave the kids outside of the office. I can't go to Dr. 's office if I have kids with me? I doubting her mind of humanity or cares of people who have a profession supposed to have. I didn't feel that bad because all the nurses, receptionist and other Dr. comforting me. I am never going back to Dr. Armenta ever again. I should have seen the red flag when I found out she didn't catch CANCER in my mom's friend (they did blood tests and Dr Armenta NEVER READ THEM), but stupidly, I was enticed by the nice, new office and her initial friendly demeanor. I told her I've been suffering from migraine-like symptoms, and after about five minutes at most, she told me that I did not have migraines, completely dismissed my saying that I have headaches every single day, and just prescribed me a 1000mg/day dose of Naproxen. That's ALEVE, people. In any case, I came back to get some referrals to an allergist and an ENT as I suspect the headaches are sinus-related, and she practically refused me, and after LESS than five minutes, practically ran out of the room and closed the door behind her WHILE I WAS STILL TALKING. On my very first visit with Dr. Armenta, years ago, she actually took the time to listen to me and spent more than 10 minutes in the office with me. So to those new patients that have had a "good" experience with her...give it a minute, it'll change. There have been numerous occasions in the past when she literally walked out of the room while I was talking to her. I didn't even know my appointment was done and had to stick my head out of the door with my gown on and ask the nurse if I was finished. I was so pissed!! I actually stopped going to her for a couple of years because I couldn't believe she would treat a patient like that. She has dismissed me on many occasions suggesting that I didn't know what I was talking about or that I was making something out of nothing, when in reality she hadn't even taken the time to gather enough information to make that educated decision. Recently I went back to her because I didn't want to deal with the hassle of finding a new doctor and she's close to home...bad idea. The details of my most recent appointments with Dr. Armenta are way too long and detailed to write out on here and no one really wants to really hear it anyway. But I'm going to say this about Dr. Armenta...just because someone is a doctor it does not mean that they know what they're talking about and it does not mean that they always know better than you. No one knows our bodies better than ourselves. She has had a terrible bed side manner with me and she has called me into her office to meet with her with no new information and I believe she has done it to be able to bill my insurance company and make money off of me. And I highly doubt I am the first patient she has done this with. I am no longer using her as my primary care doctor and if you are considering using her I would really think again. It is not a coincidence that more than one person on here has given her bad reviews which are almost identical reviews. When I read the reviews of others that had similar experiences I was somewhat relieved that I was not alone but I was also upset that she treats other patients in the same manner. It's just so unethical and is not how doctors should be treating patients. We are not stupid and we are not just numbers. We are human beings and we deserve as much respect as they would give their own loved ones if they were treating them for any ailment. Dr Armenta was the only doctor after a few who took my lump in my breast seriously regardless of the fact that I was under 35. She made sure I immediately got a mammogram and bam stage 2b breast cancer. 5 years later(cancer free for 2 and counting) I am still with her. She listens to all of my concerns. I was so disappointed with my experience with Dr. Armenta and her extremely unprofessional office staff. I walked into her office only to be ignored by the receptionist named Letty, who was clearly occupied with something other than work. She instructed me to take a seat and wait until someone called me back. The nurse who checked me in was polite and the sole reason this review even deserves a star. She had me wait in another room to see the doctor. While I was waiting, the door was slammed open by none other than the rude and unprofessional receptionist who hadn't followed protocol and was asking for payment information and my ID while I was sitting on the patient table. I was both embarrassed and extremely displeased by her unprofessional appearance and demeanor. Once I finally saw Dr. Armenta she seemed both distracted and displeased with my visit, as if her patients are an inconvenience to her. I have a history of cancer and Dr Armenta only seems to care about one thing - bringing me in for another appointment. No results unless you come in for another appointment. Doesn't give you more than 5 min before she starts slowly walking away while you are asking her for a referral. Try and bring up more than exactly one concern per visit and see for yourself. Begrudgingly refers you only if you are on the edge of your deathbed, or have great insurance. Sorry for the long review but I have to share this story she told me - she was cynically making fun of a patient who apparently asked her why her priority is not the patient's well-being. I have had Dr Armenta as my primary care doctor for a few years now. The disappointment with her grows more with every visit, and the only reason I stayed this long was because my life gets in the way of the little details. However I will not continue as her patient as of Jan 2018. You will wait for 30 minutes to see her, you may be asked to fill out paperwork you have already completed, prepare to be billed incorrectly. A majority of her staff are medical assistant students and at times this can be a frustration as you never deal with the same person when walking in. Oh and the walls in her exam rooms are super thin. I can always here what is happening in the room next to me, so if privacy is an issue for you make sure you whisper. The last straw for me was calling and specifically asking if I can make an appointment for travel vaccinations. Over the phone I was told yes and scheduled the first appt available on a Friday. I sat in the room for 30 minutes (the doctor hadn't even arrived at work yet-I heard her walk in). When she came in she was irritated with me and told me they do not do travel vaccinations an I need to go to a travel clinic. I explained that her office staff had confirmed they did and that's why I made the appointment. She looked at me like I was crazy and was SUPER annoyed that I was getting my co-pay refunded. When I asked her if she recommended a travel clinic I should go to she told me to GOOGLE IT. since then I have paid out of pocket for everything. She takes the time to listen to my concerns and does her job as a physician competently. Dr. Armenta correctly diagnosed me with the condition that afflicted me and not the diagnosis I think or I wish I had. She takes her time to explain things and offers "a pill" when it is indicated. After all, if I didn't want a prescription for my illness, I would have sought a holistic practitioner instead; whom, by the way, are not doctors. I am realistic and understand that doctors do not have much time to see patients especially if they are enrolled in HMOs. I understand, you get what you pay for, and even so the quality of care I revive at Dr. Armenta's office is much better than what is out there. I've been to other physicians' offices where I never see anyone besides the PA or NP. I gave her and her office many opportunities to show me that they are professional (I had her as my primary care physician for about a year). Unfortunately, from the very first visit until the last I was given the same poor service. Initially I went in for an issue with my leg. I paid $30 for her to come into the office, NOT CHECK MY LEG, and just write me a prescription for physical therapy. When I began to ask her another question, she told me I would have to make a separate appointment to have anything else done for me! I literally saw her for less than 5 minutes. I was shocked and now understand that she must assume that because she is a doctor she can just make things up and us lowly non-doctors will just take her word for it. On top of her horrible attitude and service, every single time that I went in and paid with my credit card, I would then be sent a bill saying I never paid. I wasted so much time on the phone arguing and sending in credit card statements to show that I had paid. It's been over a year since my last visit and I am still dealing with them and their lack of organization with regards to payments. It is incredibly frustrating and I hope that enough of these poor reviews some how get back to Dr. Amalia. In reading all her reviews, you start to notice the same complaints over and over again. She seems very friendly and nice on the surface and I had no issue with her during my first visit and therefore, I gave her a middle of the road rating. However, there are 2 things I noticed when speaking with her about my issues; there is not much privacy because you can hear through the walls and she does use students in training as her nursing or medical assistants. The nursing assistant seemed to be much more caring about the issues at hand. Dr. Armenta may have billing issues as there are disclaimers in her office about her billing. Secondly, I did notice that she pushes for multiple visits or a second visit, which indicates that she is doing that so that they can bill the insurance companies. If every matter requires a visit to the office, then its a red flag that they are trying to bill. Hopefully Dr. Armenta can take the time to read her reviews and make corrections. read more

Such a poor doctor! If you care about your health, do not sign up with her. She is more concerned about her looks and hair than her patients. After seeing her on several occasions, I have to say that medical school must not be that difficult if she got through it! She does not remember her patients. She makes as little physical contact as possible with her patient and just stares at the computer. She misdiagnosed my husband saying he had prostate cancer when all he had was prostatitis...a simple infection. And because of this misdiagnosis, he could not get life insurance. What a lovely doctor! not! Then, she suddenly dropped our insurance and sent a letter with absolutely no notice of this change so that we had to scramble to find another doctor to continue with specialist care.
