Her office runs like a finely oiled machine. She keeps appointment times. Her office staff call you back quickly and they care as much as Dr. Adelman does. Her staff is fabulous just like Dr. Adelman! Dr. Adelman bends over backwards to ensure her patients get the best possible care and in the most timely manner. If I was old enough to see her, I would. I asked, but she only takes geriatric patients and I'm not quite old enough yet. But she helped me find a great doctor in the same network. She cares deeply and she listens. When I sought assistance resolving the authorization issues, I was told that I was "on my own" and that the matter was not the office's responsibility. Rather than helping navigate the process or advocating on my behalf, I felt my concerns were dismissed. Most concerning was the lack of support when barriers to treatment arose. Patients depend on their healthcare providers to help coordinate care and communicate with insurers when medically necessary treatments are prescribed. Unfortunately, that was not my experience, and I was ultimately advised to seek care elsewhere. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this practice.

I called to ask a simple question about my insurance after the front desk told me I should speak with him directly. Instead of being helpful, he was incredibly rude and dismissive right from the start. Joe came across like a complete douche -- angry, hostile, and acting like he had a chip on his shoulder for no reason. It honestly felt like he had me confused with someone else because his reaction made no sense for such a straightforward question. I've never dealt with an office manager at a doctor's office who behaved this way. He should not be working at a doctors office where people should be empathetic. He lacks empathy. He speaks as if the patients owe him something and seems critical. When patients are just trying to understand their insurance or get basic information, the least they should receive is professionalism and courtesy. Unfortunately, Joe delivered the exact opposite and left a really terrible impression. This whole office from the doctor to the office manager to the front staff are all horrible and lack customer service. This was the last straw and I stopped going to this god-awful place. There are so many better doctors and their staff out there.

So my question is: which one is it? Taking new patients (in a way that isn't a prohibitive delay) or not? I spoke to Aetna about how to get service, and the person on the phone said she was disappointed that so many providers were claiming to accept new patients but often not making many appointments available for new patients. Again, they were assigned me as a patient, but talk to me like I'm a second class citizen.
