I don't understand the many extremely high praises for this office. My original Dr moved so I was referred to Dr Patel by st Joe's and initially it went well. After three visits I felt invisible to his staff and the Dr. seemed very indifferent. I realize medical people are in a high pressure position so I tend to shrug rude or rushed behavior. BUT, I think it vital for doctors to discuss the results of tests they order with the patient. This office does as little as they can in communication about test results. After my second visit I had to call to find results ad all I got was "everything is fine" which is ok but I don't know what that even eas .i have conditions this office knows about but simply ignores. I'm older and it was obvious to me that I was more of an inconvenience than patient. I'm now looking for new general practice Dr. read more

After being released from the hospital earlier this year, I absolutely needed a primary care doctor. Dr. Patel came highly regarded by other moms in the Burbank community so I decided to give their office a call. I have been very happy with him and his expertise. The office staff always calls you back if you leave a message and they try to fit you in if they are booked. I've also seen the nurse practitioner via telehealth and I liked her very much. I'm looking forward to scheduling a wellness visit this upcoming year. The only gripe I have, and this has nothing to do with his office, is that the parking for this building absolutely sucks. The people that run the parking garage are absolutely rude. You're better off parking across the street or finding street parking. Don't bother with leaving your car there. One of the best doctors I've ever had and I've been around a long time. lol. He listens. And I mean really listens. He's thorough, spends time with you and doesn't rush, he's conscientious, you can tell he cares, and I've never waited more that 10 minutes in the lobby. Usually it's go right in. You can call him with an emergency problem and he'll send in a prescription without making you wait for an appointment. He'll squeeze you in if he needs to see you in person. I first met Dr Patel when he was a resident in the ER. I asked the main doctor on staff for a good primary doctor. We were introduced-he gave us a piece of paper with his phone number on it and have been his patients for over ten years! He has been wonderful, patient and direct when he needed to be for the benefit of my families health concerns. 1. recently took my blood pressure it was 190/87 assistant said we will take again before you leave, didn't. 2. I had surgery I am in my 70's and found out afterwards i had severe anemia, you decide what is wrong with that picture. 3. When you get your blood work done you get a quick call, xxx is low do this. So make sure you get your own copies of any and all tests, besides bloodwork, you must be vigilant with all doctors these days. 4. His staff can be abrupt but don't let that put you off just be strong back and get your questions answered. I do like him. I've been seeing Dr. Patel for a couple years now. Calling over the phone and getting an appointment can lag a bit but the staff is pleasant in person. During COVID they seem to be very well organized and efficient. I called on Monday and got an appointment for the next morning. I was in and out within 30 minutes after a brief but friendly exchange with the doctor. The nurse (Maritza) was very pleasant too. I got my prescription and even a sample med. My one gripe is that you have to pay for parking in the building. There's no validation. I paid $3 for a half hour visit. read more

I found Dr. Patel as the outcome of an auto accident.. 5/2016. I have continued to see him as I have ongoing pain from the accident. The first few times I went to see him I really liked him.. the last two visits were a bit frustrating. I currently take a very low dose of Diazepam as needed for muscle spasms. My visit was all about how I am addicted to Diazepam telling me that I shouldn't be taking this it was only for short term and that I am addicted we are going to wean me off of this.. ok I only take this MAX once a day.. I felt like he was way over the top as well as extremely demeaning. He then asked if I was open to something better that was not a narcotic. Absolutely, I just want to control the spasm. he then prescribed Cymbalta which I could not even afford to pick up with my insurance the prescription was 96.00!!! Really? compared to $2.89 for 2 month supply of diazepam. This drug has so many side effects including dependency.. I question his judgment there... He also prescribed other drugs in place of my ibuprofen which also surprise, surprise cost more and have many more side effects.. SMH.. The deciding factor for me to find a new GP was the fact that I went to his office for a pre-op clearance. I gave them the orders for the required tests, which included where the results are to be sent. I went in 2 weeks prior to having surgery. My surgeon's office called me to find out if I had the EKG done. I told her yes, with my primary care office Dr. Tejas Patel... the same office that sent my labs to you she notified me that nothing had been received from them. I had to give her the number to request my results. This is unacceptable. I should not have to worry about them doing their job after I leave.. especially when my appt was specifically PRE-OPERATION CLEARANCE. the morning of my surgery.. my labs and results STILL HAD NOT BEEN RECEIVED. I will not be returning to Dr. Patel for any reason. He clearly has his own agenda trying to peddle BiG-Pharma. I did not feel that he actually listened to me nor did I feel that he actually even cared about my health or my concerns. read more

I can't say enough good words regarding Dr. Patel. When I was looking for a new general practitioner I called my OB/GYN, allergist, and spoke to a nurse friend and they all recommended Dr. Patel. I figured when three trusted medical professionals recommend the same person I should really give him a try. He was in network for my insurance which was even better but I'm usually willing to go out of Network for a decent doctor. All of the recommendations were correct! He has a great bedside manner and is willing to take the time to discuss any questions or concerns I may have. He's the right blend of funny and serious and isn't super judgy about stuff like I eat the occasional In & Out Burger and like drinking wine (I've found some MDs are). He's not overly prescription / test happy which I appreciate but at the same time too will prescribe stuff like antibiotics if necessary (he's not eat this this root and feel better kind of guy). Overall, I've never had to wait a ridiculously long time at his office and the staff was willing to fit me in same day once when I was horribly sick. Woke up a sore throat today. Waiting until afternoon to see how I was feeling and since I wasn't feeling any better I called Dr. Patel's office. They got me in that afternoon. I didn't have to wait to see the doctor. As usual he was his nice and friendly self. He gave me a prescription just in case I get worse on the weekend which was awesome. Dr. Patel is above and beyond the best doctor i have ever had in my 61 years --always smiling always professional when he needs to be but this is what i want to say about his patient care--last year i woke up on July 3 with a horrible sore throat. I called Dr Patels office and there was no answer--assuming the office was closed for the holiday. I left my name and number for the on call dr to call but Dr. Patel called me and when i told him and mentioned a coworker had strp he said he would call in a scrip for me at my pharmacy --i told him I was doubtful if they were open for the holiday as it is a small place. He said he would call and if they were not open he would bring me the scrip himself --well besides all the other confidence i have in him as a doctor now i am a true fan of him as a human being too --i hope everyone who reads this can know that his above and beyond action makes him a hero to me read more

This was my second visit and I'm very unhappy with the staff. The staff is extremely unprofessional they have a habit of insulting patients and over booking appointments that causes delays in the doctor schedule. I was forced to cancel my appointment and walked out of the office. AJ does not respect nor vales patients. The doctor should defiantly check the level of education when it comes to his staff that represents him at the front counter. I will also contact my provider and file a separate complain regarding my experiance. read more

I was in the ER in horrible pain and through a stroke of luck become one of Dr.Patels first in office patients. He is a wonderful doctor who always following through on visits. My husband became a patient soon after. We are so thankful that he is our doctor. Wonderful bedside manner, quick to respond back (even on weekends). Dr Patel spends as much time as he needs with you in the office. His staff is young-some of the front office staff could have better office professionalism, but most are responsible. I have never waited too long in the office to see him and yes-he may run behind sometimes-but only due to the fact that he truly listens to the concerns one has when they visit him. He was warm, funny, smart and thorough. I'd say definitely have him as your GP or Internal Medicine Doctor! Sometimes it's hard to get things done if you are calling for a referral or report however. He took the time to thoroughly listen to my concerns and prescribe the right medications for the right amount of time to help me.
