I called to make an appointment and asked about the process and services that he provides which should be normal right? No, this little man told me he has no time to answer my question and hung up on me! How can you have a business charging hundreds of dollars and not explain what that entails? Insane lack of communication and terrible customer service. Be extra careful about this guy and avoid if possible. Great doctor terrific staff I feel comfortable with them and I trust them, I really can't say that about every doctor I've had. They will work with your schedule for your appointments if you need to be referred to a specialist you are given multiple options. They work with your comfort. When I need go in for an appointment it's a reasonable wait time you're not there waiting with 25 other people that they scheduled within the same half hour being stuck all day. All well know with so many other doctors. The parking is reasonable, does not raise your blood pressure looking for a spot. I'm very grateful for their services. read more

I've been with Dr. Lara for many years and he is by far the best, most understanding doctor I've been to. His staff is nice, knowledgeable and make appointments easily and you don't have to wait months to see the doctor like other doctors. As long as you follow his instructions, whatever ailment you have should be dealt with. I saw 2 different doctors for my anxiety and depression but went back to Dr, Lara because he provided me the best care and didn't prescribe unnecessary medications. The.worst internist I've ever known! Regardless of what insurance policy you have, he's used to spew out the same garbage: My knees hurt = it's the weather My back hurts = it's the change in weather My entire right side is numb = you have nothing to worry about! Change your blood pressure medicine after 20 years based on what insurance company wants. Will never put up a fight and I had a good PPO policy that costed me a fortune. 20 days later, I have a massive heart attack! In & out of hospitals, I'm miserable. My mom changed from Kaiser and i really like that he explains everything to my mom straight forward and explaines everything to her. Undeserving of even a 1 star! My insurance provider assigned me to this office - upon arrival I noticed how convenient a drug store next door. Turns out Fidel Lara's wife owns it after reading through the paperwork which is horribly drafted from 80's. an inviting waiting room which cleverly uses filthy 8.99 drugstore lawn chairs awaits you. When you meet the inviting staff that uses the words such as "like" and falsely explains the documents you are signing - you start to wonder what is behind these doors. After receiving approximately 10 sheets of paper explaining how you are signing your life over and if anything goes wrong you may not sue, you start to wonder.... After further reading the city of la plaque on the wall above the blue (blood stained seats) I noticed its congratulations for reopening your clinic. Ummmmm - why was it closed in the first place???? Dr. Lara has been my mom's dr for over 7yrs I believe now, I can honestly say he has been great! If not my mom wouldn't have last this long going to him. Any time she's sick or need of medication he refills same day always making sure she gets what she needs. The front office girls are always helpful with me, Sara & Jennifer. Dr. Lara was very dismissive and careless on our last visit for my father. He did not let me speak about my dad's new health issues with his prostate and cognitive changes. He would talk over me and seemed to be in a rush to get out of the exam room. Dr. Lara did not seem to know what my dad was currently receiving for medication. This is very concerning because my dad had congested heart failure at some point. He is currently being treated for that along with high blood pressure. I wanted the doctor to examine the medications my dad is taking because last year a cardiologist added two new medications. According to my dad, no one informed Dr. Lara about the new prescription from the cardiologist. Dr. Lara as his primary doctor should be aware of all the medications my dad is taking. Also, I would like for my dad to be seen regularly by a cardiologist to monitor the status of his heart failure, but we depend on Dr. Lara's referral. My dad has been losing his balance and falling since last year. We would like to get to the reason for that.   It didn't seem to me like Dr. Lara was aware of all his medications either (just as my dad stated). He kept flipping pages through his file and he just told my dad to bring all his medication in his next visit a month from that appointment. This is very neglectful on his end. I do not agree that a doctor treating elderly patients does not have a computer in each exam room to take notes and does not send them home with after-visit paperwork stating their diagnosis, all their medications listed and the side effects. Dr. Lara told me he was very specific on the medication bottles to have instructions, but he needs to keep in mind the font on the bottles is not always very legible for the elderly. I have seen the instructions on the medicine bottles, and they do not seem specific at all. One of the reasons why we chose Dr. Lara was because he speaks Spanish so my father wouldn't have to depend on a translator. But this is not helpful when the doctor does not use his language skills to listen and communicate properly with his patients. read more

I was very pleased with my experience at Doctors Care. I can be a hard critic of emergency care places and clinics and the people employed by them. Dr. Lara is my dad's doctor. He is very busy and does seem rushed sometimes but it seems it's because he has a lot to do. In terms of his demanor, he is straight to the point but not rude. He knows his stuff and is very thorough. My dad has a complicated set of issues and Dr. Lara and his staff are kind and very responsive. They've accommodated him with labwork, call back promptly and Dr. Lara puts in prescriptions immediately. The office is simple and it's true that he co-owns the pharmacy next door but I don't see why any of that matters. He's providing great care for my dad. read more

Every time that I've had an appointment with Dr. Lara, I go in knowing what to expect. The receptionists are friendly and personable, the wait times aren't always the shortest, but that's understandable due to everything going on in the world right now. My first visit, Dr.Lara seened to be caring. The second visit, i wanted to discuss options of weightloss because i tried everything. He yelled at me when he walked into the room, judged me because I'm on Medical. Then told me to go pay for weightloss surgery out of pocket. Im trying to do preventive measures so that i wont have health problems stemming from being overweight. Well, i guess he has favoritism for certain patience,because he was in the next room being nice to another patient, but irritated with me. He never let me explain my full reason of coming in. Where to start!? The front desk receptionist is beyond rude! She was yelling at people on the phone and rolled her eyes at me because I didn't have my social security card. The place is decent on cleanliness (1 star) minus the plastic patio chairs in waiting room and tore up patient bed. It took 30 min for me to be called in and then another 40 min for the doctor to see me so almost an hour and a half but it was NOT crowded at all; RIDICULOUS!!! The doctor seems kinda nice but that is all. I needed a surgery approval for stones but all he said was "let's see what happens". Finally, he prescribed meds to me that I told him I already had from my ER visit a week earlier but he pushed it because his wife owns the pharmacy next door. I can't wait to change doctors.
