At first I was happy with him but in the last 4 years he became a horrible doctor. He's happy to give you an Rx so you go away but doesn't care to look into anything deeper with tests. He refused MRI testing on me for a new problem that he mansplained was an old injury. In recent years he looked tired and sometimes like he just woke up. He's very robotic and pretends to care but really doesn't. He thinks that reading the computer screen is taking time to explain to you. He's dismissive. If you push him for care (testing) the curated nice tone of voice and nice guy mask drops and he has no problem asserting his MD power over you to make you feel small and disarm you to feel powerless. Anyone that gives him a good review must not have chronic illness and goes for routine annual exams or a flu. You can tell he is just an MD employee for Facey. Caring more for protocols and quotas than individual plan of care. Facey the medical group is priority over the patient care. Office staff was fair. Looking for a doctor who dismisses your pain as no big deal and you end up in ER with emergency hernia surgery? Or better yet, a doctor who tells you pain medication for acute pancreatitis "will only make your pain worse," when WebMd, Mayo Clinic, Cleveland clinic, Harvard and NIH say the first thing to do is manage the pain, then fast or eat a limited diet? Just got home from my first visit to this amazing Doctor. Wow..I hit the jackpot. My husband had his first appointment with him about a month or so ago and told me I am going to love him . And I do!! So kind..so thorough....so professional. Great bedside manner. Never made me feel like he was looking at his watch and I was just another number. He asked questions ..he listened.... he checked everything from my eyes to my ears to my nose to my chest to my back and of course down below lol. I always dread that part of the exam but thank God this doctor does it thoroughly and doesn't skip over it like the doctors I've been seeing the past five years. Dr Dao is AMAZING! He has been my new PCP for the past 6 months or so and I am so glad I found him. Every time I see him, he makes me feel comfortable and is open to any and all questions I have. He takes his time to explain things thoroughly and go through all options available. Dr. Dao has been my PCP for less than a year and every time I see him he amazes me. He is very professional and takes time to explain things. I don't ever feel that he is rushing to the next patient. Dr. Dao is my PCP and he was awful to me. He body shamed me. He saw my vitals were perfect and that I work out 4 days a week, but still had the audacity to say I need to eat less. Very insensitive. Especially for someone with a history of eating disorders and depression. I was there to get a pap smear which he didn't perform because he said women don't need them every year. How are we supposed to detect early signs of cancer if we don't get yearly exams? I haven't visited for 2 years because I was so ashamed. I have since gone to urgent care for all my problems than see him. read more

Dr. Dao is fantastic. I'm a little reticent to give such glowing reviews as I'd like to selfishly keep him to myself but that would be doing a disservice to such a great doctor! He is young, but I think that makes him more eager to build his practice which means great things for his patients. Overall, I went for a check-up and went away feeling great. He's extremely thorough, doesn't rush you through the questions and very transparent about potential costs. I went in with some symptoms and he advised me on which labs to get to maximize what I got given my insurance situation. I'll definitely be sticking with Dr. Dao and reccomending him to close friends. PS. One downside is the paid parking. Boo. The 5-star is for Dr.Dao. He is the most gentle, compassionate and understanding Doctor you could ask for. He is quick in getting back to my weekly fan letters (emails), which makes me, and I am sure many of his other patients wanting to come back into his office for all of our ailments. Not once did I ever feel like I was rushed when I was in his office for an appointment, as he took the time to explain everything that was going on, even for someone like me who is in the medical field as well (RN-student). Plus, when he is charting on his computer, he actually pulls it up in front of you, and writes in the chart as you describe to him the reason for your visit. I hope that when I graduate, my hospital will have health insurance that has Facey Medical Group as my HCP, because this Dr. is a true embodiment of what being a professional in the caring field is like. read more

I have been searching for a good doctor since I moved to LA from Arizona. All of the doctors I have visited have been extremely rude and/or disrespectful. Dr. Dao was none of those things! It was such a breath of fresh air. My appointment was at 1:45, and the nurse called me in around 1:40. I was called in early for a doctor's appointment? Unheard of! It was amazing. I am writing this after I had my first physical with him a couple of days ago. I had to visit the office prior to that due to a "medical emergency", and had an appointment with one of the other doctors in the office. Dr. Dao had read my file before entering my room, and knew everything that was going on. I didn't have to explain anything! That is so rare. He was also very attentive, polite, and actually listened to my concerns without making me feel stupid. (I'm not a doctor, so I probably sound ridiculous when explaining things that are wrong with me, but he didn't make me feel like an idiot. Most doctors scoff and disregard my concerns, but not Dr. Dao! I'll admit I can be a bit of a hypochondriac, so it was nice to have my doctor listen and consider my concerns.) I had to get my Pap, and he was very gentle and explained everything he did as he went. No surprise pains, no discomfort. Never at any point during the appointment did I feel rushed. He never made me feel like he had to leave to tend to the next patient, as most doctors do. Never did I feel like I waited on him. He exited the room after my pap for me to get dressed, and returned in a timely manner. I'm usually waiting around forever for a doctor to come back, but I was very pleased with his quickness. At the end of my appointment, he sat down with me and went over the summary of the appointment. NEVER has a doctor done that before. He is the best doctor I could ask for, and if you're looking for someone that cares about you, go to Dr. Dao! I cannot stress enough how this was one of my best experiences with a doctor. read more

I am very impressed with Dr. Dao and his whole office. From start to finish they were professional, thorough, and compassionate. This is important because I wasn't just going in for a routine check up. I was sick. I felt terrible. The last thing in the world I wanted to do was leave my house and be poked and prodded. Update: it seems all was well when all he had to do was write me a prescription and send me on my way. Recently I have been in pain and unable to get any help from Dr Dao. All he wants to do is refer me to someone else. When the other doctor still could not figure out why I'm in pain, I came back asking Dr Dao to schedule some more tests for me. He refused. So if all you need is a 'how ya doin, here's your pills' then great. If you require compassion or assistance don't even bother, it's far too much trouble to even call in an MRI or ultrasound. The level of laziness in California has reached an all time high. As I have now told him directly, I want a physician that will help me and work with me rather than pass me off to someone else and then refuse to help beyond that. So it's 'oh, come back so I can write you some more anti-depression meds and submit my quota to big pharma but don't you dare ask for any real assistance.' Actual medical help is waning in this country and especially in California - "take your pills and go away." I had to call my doc in another state just to get an MRI - that's highly frustrating. ---original review --- I've seen him only twice so far but both times he has been attentive and friendly. Dr. Dao even turns his computer screen so you can see your file and everything he's writing. THAT is transparency. The only con I have is that it can be difficult to get an appointment - sometimes a month out or more. That's what I get for living in an overpopulated city, though . Facey Medical group is a great practice! Everyone was so nice and professional from the front desk to the nurses and Dr. Dao. I arrived early to fill out paper work and was called in right at my appointment time. Its always awkward after you put your gown on and sit in the room waiting, but Dr. Dao was prompt and didn't keep my waiting long at all. He was very thorough and answered all of my questions. He has great bed side manner and is very intelligent. I needed a primary physician, one who took my insurance, and I was able to find Dr. Dao. I had to wait a while to get in, about 2 months for my first appointment, but I waited. Luckily I didn't have any serious ailment so I could wait. If you can, wait it out and see Dr. Dao. He followed through on blood tests I took and personally called me to let me know how it went. Awesome. The wait time at the doctor's office was minimal. And getting the blood tests was awesome because you just go to the back of the office so it's not like you have to leave to go somewhere else and come back. Everything is right there - one stop shop! Words can not express how happy I am I found Doctor Dao! He always explains everything in a way you can totally understand what is being said and really takes the time to make sure I understand. I recently fell and couldn't walk for a month and he was such a helpful force explaining what I needed to do to make sure I would be back to normal in no time. (And I was) And because I was the ER the night before, (Saint Joseph, right near him) when I was wheeled in, he had already reviewed my x-rays and was ready to help. I also had my physical today and I walked away with all the answers I needed and my fears set aside. I can not recommend him highly enough. If you are looking for a doctor, look no further! Dude... Seriously... You should make Dr. Dao your primary care physician. I have to start off by saying that I've had a few bad doctors in the past -- bad enough that I decided I never wanted a male doctor again. But then I stumbled upon Dr. Dao. I found his name when changing my medical group under my insurance plan. The funny thing is, I would have passed over him if I had been able to identify his first name as male. But I couldn't -- (which I feel stupid admitting, LOL) -- so I looked him up on Yelp. And even though I felt uneasy when I discovered his gender, his four little glowing reviews sealed the deal. The accompanying photo was also reassuring; it's easier to trust someone when you can put a face to their name. So I felt cautiously optimistic about him. The first moment I met and spoke with Dr. Dao was during his building's annual fire drill -- which happened to coincide with my appointment time. Dr. Dao helped escort me out (since he knew I was his patient) as everyone left the building. He stayed with me the entire time, making polite small talk and ensuring that I wasn't standing there all alone. This really impressed me and made me feel comfortable right off the bat. When we reentered the building and completed the rest of the exam, I realized just how awesome Dr. Dao is: He's incredibly professional without being stiff. He's warm and caring without being inappropriately chummy. And he's just very compassionate, thorough, and knowledgeable. He wants you to understand exactly what's going on with your health. He even printed me a copy of his notes from our exam, and went so far as to explain the etymology of the word "neoplasm." It was super nerdy and endearing! Haha! And he never rushed me. In fact, I asked him a last-minute question in the hallway after we finished the exam. Another woman (a nurse or friend?) was a few feet from us and clearly waiting to get his attention. I felt guilty for bothering him at that moment, but he made me feel as if my question was very important and took the time to answer it fully. Nothing in his speech or body language belied a desire to rush away. Amazing! Bottom line is, Dr. Dao is truly awesome: smart, caring, professional, the whole package. Finding a good doctor has always been a challenge, as so many seem more concerned with seeing as many patients as possible and allowing their nurses to handle most of the exam. If you're lucky, you might get 5 minutes time and maybe 1-2 questions asked. Dr. Dao is completely different. He takes the time to get to know you and your family, asks questions, gives you time to ask questions, checks in with you during the exam and genuinely cares. I originally chose Dr Dao due to the proximity of his office to mine. I recently changed jobs and find myself 25 miles away but am not switching to a new physician. Finding a good family doctor can be difficult, but after a great deal of searching, my husband and I found Dr. Dao. I'll begin with the reception desk staff/nurses who were easy to work with and very helpful. Especially with the incredible amount of paperwork to be filled out on the first visit. The nurse who took our vitals was friendly and made you feel at ease when talking to you. The visit with Dr. Dao was very thorough. He addressed all the concerns and questions we had and explains everything (in terms you can understand) throughout the exam process.
