Wish I could give 0 stars, my husband broke his leg & needed a referral. I called to make an appointment & after getting put on hold and call getting disconnected, I'd call back and get an answering machine and left multiple messages about his leg being broken per the emergency room. We needed a referral asap. I called a total of 12 times and multiple messages over the course of a week and never got a call back. How irresponsible of a doctors office to not even give a call back when their patient is suffering from a broken leg. I been coming here for few years now! My husband and his brothers have always come here. Ya its not a fancy office but who cares about that! Terrible process to schedule an appointment. I had to wait over 2 weeks to be able to get in. I came in 5min after my appointment was set and the Armenian reception lady said she couldn't see me because I was late. Then she lied about asking me to come in early for paperwork when I remember asking if there's anything I need to bring or prep for. She just gave me a date and time and hung up. So I did the paperwork in 5min while she rescheduled my appointment for another week so I can avoid excuses next time. While doing my paperwork they wanted me to agree to being responsible for a few specific fees (ex: missed appointments) + other statements that didn't have to do with Medical so I didn't sign it. She insisted that I had to and that Medical pays for everything so not to worry about it. I just didn't understand why they didn't have a different form for me to sign that is meant for someone with Medical. And me being 5min late from when I was told to be there should not be counted as a missed appointment. There was no service or proper decency here. More than not the Armenian people are great people to do business with but at this location it was as bad as it gets. You can tell the receptionist has never had a real job before or know how to properly interact with a person with kindness before. read more

Dr. Kirakosian is a wonderful conservative physician, who has been treating my mother for the last 4 years. She is caring and compassionate and her office staff is extremely professional. Dr. Kirakosian's office is small and I believe she is the only physician in the clinic. She is also the one who engages by taking her patients vitals, she sits with them, talks to them ( and family or care-taker situation) and immediately charts and sends escript to the local pharmacy for any new medication. Dr. Kirakosian also immediately called my mother back on a weekend, to provide her necessary medication and relief over a weekend before seeng a specialist. I'm the complete opposite of a hypochondriac. I don't go to the doctor and am even living with a stage 4 autoimmune illness that has no cure and is high-risk for cancer. But I just keep on keeping on because I am a gangsta! However, I know my body and I've been feeling an overall sense of 'off' status, needed a check up for my autoimmune illness, plus my allergies have been killer! So I decided it was time for a visit to the doctor which we will all know means 5 hours of day never to be replenished. Dr. Karin Kirakosyan is the doctor I am assigned to through my plan and thus I called to make my first appointment. Dr. Kirakosyan's practice is located in a large, professional building on the corner of Olive/5th near downtown Burbank. Although they have a lot which most businesses in the building validate with tokens, sadly, Dr. Kirakoysan does not (my dentist is actually in the SAME building but different floor and he validates!) so allow yourself some extra time to find street parking if not looking to pay the lot. Located on the 3rd floor, Dr. Kirakosyan's office is certainly outdated, tiny, and no frills. The waiting room is very stuffy and small with no decorations and few reading materials which consist of medicinal promo material and a couple outdated magazines. Cell phone reception is nonexistent (both myself with Verizon and another patient with AT&T had no service) so in other words... this is death in a box! There is a TV playing some medical advertisements but basically: bring reading material! Aside from the absence of hospitality in the waiting room; the receptionist on duty, Annie, was welcoming and kind. I had to fill out the requisite first-time patient paperwork but she was clear, concise, and friendly so it was all easy-peasy. Also, hearing her on the phone speaking to other patients solidified her lovely demeanor. As expected, my appointment was at 2:30 and I wasn't let in to see the doctor until 3:45-ish so again: bring material to keep yourself entertained. So let's get to the nitty-gritty, shall we? After waiting for over an hour, my check-up was literally about 5 minutes which is disappointing and I can understand why there are many negative reviews. First though, to address the positives, Dr. Kirakosyan was solid and kind enough. Yes, she is very stoic, not chatty, and straight-line so don't expect an overly caring bedside manner; but she wasn't 'cold' either. The main problem here is that Dr. Kirakosyan rushes you which makes it feel like A) you waited over an hour for nothing and B) that this practice only cares about patient turn-over and making money. Need an elaboration? Again, the check up was only about 5 minutes and when I mentioned the symptoms I've been having plus my medical history; the doctor seemed to brush over it, not really listen, or ask any follow-up questions. Everything was just her saying she will give referrals to other specialists and blood work. Not to mention, when she conducted the test of pressing on my abdomen to see if I felt pain in various locales; she gave me no time to respond and check for pain and simply said, "You shouldn't feel any!" and moved on. WHAT THE HECK?! At one point, I DID feel pain and she said "You must be constipated". Um no. I have no issues in that respect and have never been constipated in my life, in fact! Definitely was NOT enjoying this from Dr. Kirakosyan. The highlight was that she seems to hand out the prescription orders easily. I mentioned how I've been suffering from the horrible allergies this year every single day and have received no relief from over-the-counter meds and she freely give me scripts for allergy pills with 4 refills so that lasts about 6 months. Nice! So, what's the verdict? Dr. Kirakosyan is not really the best doctor in terms of patients not feeling well and needing to figure out what's going on. I feel like you could have signs of cancer and she would just brush you off. Unless you come in literally sick on the spot: it is the only time you will be taken seriously. Plus, those seeking a doctor who is very friendly, smiley, and seems to genuinely care will be displeased here. However, the experience could definitely have been worse. Dr. Kirakosyan is "okay" but I understand the negative reviews, as well. This is definitely a "your call, see for yourself" practice. Just make sure to bring reading material for the wait because you won't be able to play on your phone! read more

Horrible receptionist. very rude and unhelpful. why is she even there working she doesnt help.

I first came here as a new patient in January. From what I remember, the wait was very long, and Dr. Kirakosyan and her staff weren't exactly friendly, but the overall experience was fine and I got the refill prescription I needed for generic allergy medicine. Now, nine months later, Dr. Kirakosyan is refusing to refill my prescription unless I come in for a visit. I explained to the receptionist that my insurance only covers one wellness visit a year and I can't pay out of pocket just to come in for a refill of an allergy prescription that I've been on for over ten years. The receptionist told me it is normally her policy to make patients come in every 4 - 6 MONTHS for refills. This prescription is not a narcotic. It's now available over the counter, but the cheaper generic version is prescription only. In the ten years I've been on this prescription I have NEVER been forced to pay for an extra visit just to get a refill. It's clear this "policy" is a scam to get patients (or their insurance) to pay for extra unnecessary visits. TL;DR: Don't come here if you need a prescription and don't have great insurance that will pay for all the extra visits Dr. Kirakosyan will insist on. read more

Where to begin.... I've seen this doctor for 3.5 years. I suffer from depression and anxiety and need on-going care. Once you make an appointment you wait at least an hour before being seen. They look over your accounting while you wait and if you owe anything (in my case, I owed from 3 years back some small amount that their accounting overlooked) and she wouldn't see me until I paid. I was unemployed at the time, so it was a hardship, when normally her office sends invoices, and thus also not my error it was hers. In my chart (which i had her pull) I have a history of paying on time EVERY time. She proceeding to see me and give me the third degree. I fell and pinched a nerve and had loss of feeling in my thumb and no mobility and she rubbed my arm and gave me a really high dose of Motrin (800mg) to take 3 times a day! Which never even helped the pain. I ended up going to another doctor and within 2 days the pain was relived after dealing for weeks with Dr. K and not getting any progress. She's rude, hurry's through your appointment, and will call and cancel appointments as she closes her office whenever she feels like it. read more

Never again. I'm a 41 year old woman who had a hysterectomy three years ago. I've been currently dealing with new pelvic and back pain for over a year, and have been trying to work with this doctor since then. I have an HMO. I met her in December 2015 on the assumption by another doc that I had a left inguinal hernia. I had to go see Dr K to get a referral for a surgical consult and further testing (MRI and/or ultrasound). She disagreed with my gyno's orginal diagnosis (without laying a hand on me), and put me on Prednisone for some bizarre reason & 500mg Naproxen, and had me come in a few different times over a few months. When that didn't work (because why would it), I had to talk her into a surgical consult for testing. It took till June to finally get everything cleared to see another doctor. Six months of pain for no reason, when all I needed was a referral. But the surgical consult, blood work and MRI don't know what is wrong. In doing research, I believe I might have Pelvic Floor Dysfuncton.... which means back to Dr K to see what to do next. Today, I saw Dr Kirakosyan for the LAST TIME. I broke down in her office from pain and fear - I've been crippling around for months now, no one has any answers, I'm so scared that I will be like this forever - and her reaction was to get angry and offended at my tears. I brought my mother in to support me - and she tried to shame me for bringing in a support system (something about 'a grown woman who needs her mother'). When I suggested PFD, she blew me off and told me to 'respect her education'. When I begged her for a referral to a physical therapist - she said she would refer me to a urologist. Once again, (and this is probably the fifth time I've seen her) - she didn't lay ONE HAND on me except to take my blood pressure. Any doctor that would be offended by and try to shame a scared patient should never ever be in the medical field. I am so disgusted with how she treated me, and from the looks of her Yelp reviews, I'm not the only one. Stay far far away from this office - do NOT think you will be the exception to the rule. read more

Doctor K is efficient and knowledgable. I rarely visit the doctor so I don't mind the lack of conversation, I don't really ask questions. I just go in for a cure for whatever ailment I may have at the time of my visit. The front office girl,with the red hair, was really nice. I ended up losing my antibiotics prescription the day after I got it and she helped me get it refilled, no problem. (I'm sure it may have been more difficult had it not just been an antibiotic). If you don't frequent the doctors office and just go when it's a necessity, I think this is a great Doctor. If you want the freedom to ask questions and discuss your treatment, look elsewhere.... Dr. Karine Kirakosyan is by far the worst dr that i have EVER been to. I could seriously go on and on but i will just give a couple examples. I'd like to start with how she took my blood. She put me in a side room in a ROLLING DESK CHAIR with NO GLOVES ON! It felt so wrong.. she also charges not per visit, but for how large the prescription is. She told me she would give me "30 pills for $120, or 15 pills for $60" (meaning you can have one months worth for $120 or i have to come back in 2 weeks for $60) i was appalled and thought this was extremely unethical and greedy. I got to a point where i didn't have to be seen by here but once a month, so she doubled the price of my visit ONLY because she was writing me a larger prescription. She doesn't care about the patient. As i started to get better and be seen less, she charged me more. PLEASE DO NOT GO TO THIS DR! DRS LIKE HER SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN!! read more

Dr. Karin Kirakosyan is a terrible doctor and does not give a DAMN about you. First of all I have left my previous doctor because I wanted a doctor closer to where I live and a doctor who was going to be possibly more helpful but man I was terribly wrong and realized I made a huge mistake coming with Karin. She did not help me at all, I had asked for anti-depressants since I'm going through a tough time in my life and she just rejected it and told me to go to my customer service for my health care like what??, then I asked that I need to get a referral to see a Dermatologist since I've been dealing with scalp folliculitis for more than 2 years and had been previously going with a Dermatologist with my previous doctor and guess what she tells me "well I'll go ahead and try to send the request but I don't think it will work, you will go ahead and receive a card in the mail within 2 weeks if it went through but if it did not then oh well it did not work" and now 3 weeks later no card so yeah pretty useless and I'm not getting the help I need. Pretty much anything I would ask for she would not give me a good response and it just showed she could not care any less especially since she was just trying to rush me out since she had more people to attend to and literally when I would be asking her questions she would be already be opening the door for me to leave and did not bother to ask if there is anything else she could help with me. I'm so mad with the experience that I had here since I tried to give her the benefit of the doubt after seeing all her bad reviews but she actually does live up to those bad reviews, also all the time I wasted to try and make a appointment to get in and the changing of my doctors which took over a month and a half, really all I can say is trust me when I say this "DO NOT COME HERE" all your doing is wasting your time but if you don't believe me then find out for yourself. read more

I've been seeing dr. Kirakosyan for about 3 years now. She's always been straight with me and is willing to go above and beyond to help. Her support staff are also wonderful. The receptionist Ani is great, always super happy and friendly when I come in. I travel for work quite a bit for long periods of time. This can make keeping up with my prescriptions tough sometimes. The staff at this office goes well out of their way to make sure I get the medication I need no matter where in the world I'm at. read more

Her office is completely outdated. A very tiny room and the bathroom was horrible, however, the restroom is shared among the entire building. I got a physical done by her and I have received better care that what she did. I was describing the symptoms that I had and it almost seemed that she was not paying attention since she was sending my prescription to the drug store. It seemed that she was almost uninterested in me. There is defiantly no small talk going on. I got blood work done and I called about a week later to get a status on the results. I asked the receptionist if she could email me my results or mail them to me and she stated that they could not do that. My only options were to pick them up myself or have someone pick them up for me. This was another negative aspect of my experience with Dr. Kirakosyan. I will try and find a new doctor. Horrible experience. I could write an entire page on went wrong in dealing with this office the 3 visits I had there. To summarize it: Extremely long wait-1 to 1.5 hours each visit. Unfriendly and unhelpful receptionist who only cares about collecting $ and will change you co pays on healthy office visits, knowing that they shouldn't. Receptionist tells you one thing over the phone and different story when you get there. Doctor seems unorganized, overwhelmed and does not listen. Has no nurse to assist her or prep for her. When I mentioned my concerns/complaints to the doctor, she pretty much told that she doesn't need to be my doctor as she has plenty of other patients who will take my place. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE!!! The doctor doesn't seem to really care what the problem is. She's indifferent about everything. Her staff is the most incompetent I've ever encountered. I never get a call back when they promise they will. It takes forever to get anything done. Because I have HMO insurance, they have to send a request for approval to insurance. Despite my plea to get it done quickly because of the pain I was in (was in a car accident), it took them 2 days just to send in the request when I was assured they'd get it done immediately. I had to call the insurance co. directly to get referral because Dr. Kirakosyan's staff DOES NOT FOLLOW-UP. To top it off, when I've called to speak to the doctor directly, I'm told that "she does not speak to patients on the phone. I'd have to make an appointment" WTH?? Dr. K has the worst bedside manner I've ever experienced. Not only does she talk down to you for asking questions, she also rushes through your appointment. I saw her three times for a simple bacterial infection and when I applied the prescribed ointment it became worse. When I confronted her with a worsened infection she exclaimed "impossible!" and claimed that it must be my fault. Applying an ointment isn't rocket science. She then told me that she did everything that she could do and I walked out with no attention paid to my worsened infection (this lasted for over a month). Another doctor cured it within a week. This is unfortunately one of too many experiences like this I've had with her. Don't waste your time and money on this rude and incompetent doctor. read more

Found her through my insurance's provider list. I walted for about 45mins to see her and the doc rushed me out in 5 mins. she just didn't have any time and patience for me to ask any questions. After I got home I called my insurance and got a better plan so I could see someone who is more responsible. I just called Dr.Kirakosyan's office. HIPPA VIOLATORS AND INCOMPETENT!!! I spoke with Annie the receptionist there. The office is not helpful or compatint. I inquired about obtaining information regardinng my boyfriend and his medical care. I let her know he is with me and will be able to verbally authorize me speaking with them in regards to his health care. She said "as a receptionist she can't allow me any access due to HIPPA." I again replied he is here and can give you verbal authority. She said again "no she could not due to HIPPA." I asked her to then email myself or him a release form to sign and send back promptly due to the situation and being prescribed medication for rumathoid arthritis when proper assessment was clearly neglected. Anne said "she did not have access to the forms her manager Nora has the form and will not be in today. However, I can come with him to his appointment on Monday." HUGE HIPPA VIOLATION ANNIE!!! I explained to her I will not be able to attend his appointment because I work at a doctor's office and I am fully aware of the rules and regulations of HIPPA. By far one of the rudest Dr.'s I have ever met. The only reason why I was ever a patient of this Dr. was because at the time I was under my parents insurance and went wherever they sent me. I had stepped on a rusty clothing thumb tack at work and the bottom of my foot had begun to swell, so I didn't hesitate and called to see Dr. Kirakosyan that same day. As I went inside she began to take my height, weight and vitals and in a very rude way asked me " why are you here" and I explained the situation with my foot and all she seemed to be concerned about is how I was 10 pounds over my ideal weight... I had to literally tell to prescribe me antibiotics or clean the area or do something so that my foot didn't get gangrene and fall off ( a bit dramatic I know). Luckily that was my last visit at Dr. Kirakosyans and I will NEVER be a patient of hers again. read more

Been seeing this doctor for years and I won't go anywhere else. I find the staff friendly and helpful. They can always get me in the same day and that's invaluable to me. I feel she really listens to me and has my best interest at heart. I've never felt spoken down to but I can see how her "matter of fact" manner might seem that way if you're the sort that needs to be coddled. If you are looking for fast drugs, as most of the negative commenters seem to be, this is not the place for you. She's more interested in your long term care than a quick fix. read more

Dr. K as she asked to be called is not professional or empathic. I went in for a physical in Jan and told her about pain on my side and dizzy spells. She told me its normal to get dizzy when I sit up and to drink plenty of water for the side pain. my lab work came back abnormal, high ulcer enzymes. She said to drink lots of water and she will check my blood in 6 months. Yet I'm still having severe dizzy spells n side abdominal pain. I never received her email regarding my lab works results. When I asked her to resend them she said she could not because the system only allows 1 email delivery per results. I've never heard of such a thing. I've been back to her four times for the same complaint and asked her to refer me to a specialist. Dr. K. was annoyed to see me back in her office and became upset and annoyed at my request to be reffered to a gastrologist specialist. She proceeded to tell me my insurance won't cover the referral. What?! When I told Dr. K. to please let my insurance make that decision and notify me of any outside cost I may have for a specialist referral. She rudely agreed on completing the referral and stormed out of the room. It now has been 3 months since my initial request and I'm still in pain and have not received any info on the supposed referral Dr. K. completed! I feel she doesnt care for patients health or well being. It's a shame what our health system has become. read more

The only conclusion I can come to on this doctor based on my last year of experience with her is that she does not care about her patient's health. Unfortunately I have an HMO insurance which requires me to establish a general care doctor and when I went to Dr. Kirakosyan it felt like a total waste of time. She told me to set up an appointment to get a blood test somewhere that never answered the phone or returned my phone calls. She made me come in multiple times in order for her to refer me to specialty doctors I needed to see instead of doing it while I was in the office the first time I asked. I received more guidance from my insurance carrier's website than from her. When I went in requesting a referral to a dermatologist due to the fact that I had been diagnosed with skin cancer in the past and was told to see a derm. every 6 months, she made me show her my scars to prove it and then still insisted she did not feel I needed to see one in her opinion, but stated she would send me a referral in the mail, which may take 2 weeks. Well, we're on month 3 and still no referral. Needless to say I am switching doctors and recommend that if you are someone who may need a specialty doctor in the future, go somewhere else! read more

I am very shocked to see a rating of 1 star when I had a very nurturing experience with Dr. Kirakosyan. She is very accommodating and will see patients on a short notice if it is an emergency. She usually schedules people so that they won't wait too long in the waiting room. Dr. Kirakosyan is very soft spoken, caring, and compassionate.
