An update here on my AC from GreenTop. It worked great throughout the summer, even cooling my home on the 98 degree day we had in July. I had a 2 ton unit installed based on guidance from Ruslan whereas most other installers that bidded my project wanted to put a 2.5 ton unit in. An oversized unit would have resulted in more cycling of the compressor, less humidity removed from the air, and a lower overall efficiency and life-expectancy for the system. read more

Update: I suggest that everyone read the owner's response. He claims that he doesn't fix equipment that's over 25 years old yet we sent, at his office's request, a photo of the furnace that clearly showed that it's over 25 years old. Why didn't he tell us that they don't fix old furnaces? Why did the tech spend an hour trying to figure out (and misdiagnosing or misstating) the problem with the furnace? It doesn't add up, unless it was an attempt to upsell. Update 2: Since he changed his original response, I'll post the original here for the record: Hi, Fred. 1. You never called us about your concerns. Why? You asked our representative if we can repair and he said that at this time we can only replace it with new one. 2. Bosch makes Airhandlers (electric furnaces with coil) 3. When we are booked with new installations We tell our customers that we don't take service calls and we don't. 4. Even if we take service calls we don't repair furnaces over 25 years of age. This is our company policy. It is not worth repairing it. You fixed one thing and other will get broken in few weeks. 5. You didn't hire us and we didn't charge you anything that said I don't see how we deserve one start review as you didn't go with us at all. 6. Most of HVAC companies do free estimates and free consultations. You should do more research on this and call around. I don't see why free consultation made you suspicious. Really. Just stay away. Why? Let me tell you a story... During the recent cold spell our poor aging electric furnace was running all day trying to heat our house to a comfortable level. We put in a call to GreenTop to try and get someone to look at what might be causing the problem. They sent out someone the next day for a free consult. Yes, this made us suspicious, but we couldn't get anyone else in a reasonable amount of time. The furnace guy seemed to be really inexperienced. He didn't know how to turn on our Nest thermostat. He spent a lot of time staring at the furnace. I left him alone to do his job, and after about an hour he told us that 3 out of the 4 coils were bad, the blower was ready to fail and we needed a new furnace. And he could get it for us in just a few hours! I asked for a quote and he spent a few minutes on the phone and told me it would be $3K. I asked him who made the furnace and he said it was a Bosch. I told him I'd think about and sent him on his way. I decided to test a few things myself after discovering that Bosch doesn't make electric furnaces and found that the coils were just fine - the reason that only one of the coils was working was because the sequencer was bad. I ordered a new sequencer for $35 and a few days later I installed it and our furnace was working great. Why does this company do free consults when no one else will? My guess is that they nearly always tell their customers that they need to replace their HVAC system, even if it isn't necessary. It's a sales call, not a repair call. read more

They were the quickest to respond and provide us with a very fair and professionally prepared bid. While GreenTop's estimate was the most competitively low, it was, truly, the reviews that made me feel confident in their work, because the lowest quote doesn't mean a reliable and professional business. Have no worries! I'd recommend GreenTop to my family and friends - and even enemies, if I wanted to win them over. Our two installers couldn't have been more professional, and their work was tight, neat, and almost beyond my expectations. I live in Renton WA. In July 2022, GreenTop came to replace my furnace and AC unit. Here is my experience... I can't say enough good things about this company and its employees. Three words say it all - trustworthy, competent, and caring. Trustworthy: The guy who came to do the initial estimate was straightforward, very honest about what we needed, and didn't try to upsell anything. We had an old electronic filter with the AC unit we wanted to replace. I asked him whether he can reuse that filter and he said no problem. The common practice is to sell you as many things as possible to gain more profit. Competent: We have them replace our furnace and AC. The crew came at 8:00 am in the morning and started working until 5:30 pm. I didn't watch them do everything but every time I went out to check on the progress, they were working hard but well coordinated, like a well-oiled machine. The AC unit and the furnace worked the first time they tested them. Caring: The next day we noticed that our old thermostat wasn't able to control the fan. We called GreenTop and talked to the tech lead, Vlad, who thinks that we need a new thermostat. He came back that night at 7:30 pm after working on another job, and he replaced the thermostat for us free of charge, even though replacing the thermostat was not part of the contract. Going the extra mile: Recently, I couldn't find my outside water shutoff valve and called GreenTop, thinking that they might have accidentally relocated it or removed it. But turn out that they have gone the extra mile of putting insulation around the pipe of the shutoff value so I didn't recognize it. That tells you how much they care about the work that they do and the customers that they served. read more

I had mixed results with GreenTop: PROS: - Very reasonable prices. - Responsive and pleasant to work with overall. - Moved quickly to provide a quote and complete the initial work. CONS: - The system they installed failed three inspections (one mechanical and two electrical). With multiple corrections, it took over 3 months to complete the work. I'm not sure if they were getting dinged for things that don't really matter, but it's a never a good sign when an inspector laughs at the work that's been performed. - The technicians often didn't know what they were supposed to be correcting--every time I had to double check their work against the inspection report and usually found something they had missed (even though I am in no way a technical person). I think they're a very good option, but you do need to be on top of things and 100% recommend getting the work inspected and signed off. read more

Recently had a heat pump and ductless units installed at my house, got about four estimates, I chose to go with GreenTop Heating based on competitive prices, excellent customer service and speed in which they provided estimates and care to address questions/issues. Andres came to do the estimate, he was very thorough, and took the time to answer questions and offer alternatives on placement of units. By the end of Andres' visit, I knew what my options were as far as equipment, pros/cons of placement, line set design, financing options and potential install dates. To my surprise, Andres delivered the estimate within 24 hours, other companies had taken 1-2 weeks to deliver estimates. As with any complex job, there are always logistical hiccups, Andres went above and beyond the call of duty to address issues and kept me informed at every step of the process. I was equally pleased with the installation crew, Oleksandr and Partus, upon a timely arrival Oleksandr went over work order and explained installation process, both were careful to move/protect furniture around the work area and did a good job at cleaning after themselves. I had asked Oleksandr to place all drainpipes within the line sets, he explained the challenges and I reluctantly agreed to have one of the drainpipe be placed outside the line set. After an hour, Oleksandr called to show a drawing/re-design of the line set placement, and I'm glad he did! The lines were aesthetically placed, drainpipes were housed within and he even hooked the drainpipe to an existing rain gutter spout and offered to paint two new corners/Ts! Not a good experience with Greentop. I have a hydronic heating system in my house, they came and diagnosed a faulty water pump in my furnace but they couldn't fix it. They gave me a number to someone who could fix but I would still need to pay my $200 diagnostic fee. I was chatting with someone names Olga P. through Yelp messaging to set up my initial appointment. Here's the rub: I called the number provided to me (someone named Alexsey P. No one answered when I called, but when they called back, guess who's name was on the caller ID? Olga P. even though Alexsey was the one speaking on the phone. Take that info for whatever it's worth but I paid my invoice and will never do business with them again. read more

After another week I got the quote back and it was very competitive so we decided to go with them. We were able to get the job scheduled same week. Contacted Ruslan and his team after I saw their Yelp reviews and after I had received a prior quote for my heat pump replacement. I knew Heat pump replacements could be very expensive, and Ruslan and his team saved me ~$6,500 vs the first quote I had received, for a slightly better system than the one that was initially proposed. They came yesterday, installed the new heat pump, cleaned up everything, and now we have a brand new super-efficient, and quiet heat pump (the reason we changed it is because our previous 25yo heat pump sounded like a boeing at take-off when active, forcing us to use strip heating and resulting in ludicrous electricity bills each month). On a side note, they were very respectful of COVID and the whole process happened with minimal interaction, from quote generation to installation to invoicing. EDIT: Forgot to mention they have a live quote estimator on their website for HVAC installs/replacements that is absolutely genious, I wish every technician/contractor had this system. Entirely automated, they ask you a few questions about your install requirements, you receive an instant estimate, and the final quote was not too far off the one from the estimator, albeit a little more expensive. read more

I wholeheartedly recommend Ruslan and his team. We began designing our new house almost 4 years ago (during the pandemic). It's a three story 4bd 5ba ~4600sqft open plan. We just finished it 4 weeks ago (March 2024). Part of the process involved getting feedback and bids for the entire HVAC solution. Out of all the HVAC companies I considered (11 five-star listings and 17 four-and-a-half star listings in yelp) Ruslan is the only one who asked us to send him the architectural plans, and then got back to us with a proposal. Of the rest who even responded, most of them wouldn't even consider the job until we were thru framing which made choosing between options almost impossible. And of the remaining, nobody could match Ruslan in value. Cost was important to us but we didn't make our decision just on price. Ruslan was super patient answering all our questions. I've been burned by HVAC companies on previous projects, so I had a battery of questions, all of which Ruslan handled with ease and continued to win our trust. On top of all this, we felt that out of all the HVAC companies we spoke too Ruslan was the only one who listened to what we really wanted and figured out how to deliver it. We wanted hidden/in-wall heads on highly reliable systems that we didn't need to clean the filters on every couple weeks. Every single other company tried to push us to the head systems that hang off the walls. They're great systems, but from all my research, every such system I've seen recommends cleaning the filters about every two weeks which is way too often imho. I knew a different solution was available and Ruslan helped find it with a Mitsubishi system which has a discrete/sleek in-wall look and a three-month filter cleaning/replacement cycle. This is the first ever review I've written on Yelp, although I use Yelp as my primary place to go to find industry pros. However, I'm writing this and I have no hesitation in recommending Ruslan and his team not only because of his install work, but because of Ruslan's after-install service. We only moved into the house four weeks ago (March 2024) and last week was the first time we actually turned on the AC (we had the heat on everywhere up to then). This uncovered a problem of incorrect cross connections between condenser units. Basically, one part of the house wanted to stay warm but was tied into the other part of the house we had on AC, which led to the AC not working properly. I emailed Ruslan and described the problem and Ruslan responded within 45 mins with a simple "Hi Noel. Ill take care of it next week. Thank you for informing me" - and he did! A true professional who stands by their word and their work. Fantastic! Our system runs great and we're very grateful to Ruslan and his team for helping to make our Forever Home a reality. I worked with Greentop on two different projects at my house over much of 2021. They installed a Mitsubishi heat pump and new air handler to replace our gas furnace and they installed (at first) a tankless water heater to replace our large gas-fired water heater. Both pieces of work have ended up being very unsatisfactory. First, regarding the water heater, the problems began right away when Ruslan (the owner) sent his brother out to do the initial consultation. He recommended a "tankless hybrid" system which it turns out doesn't actually exist. We did end up going with the "tankless" or "in-line" water heater based on his recommendation, but we noticed that our hot water pressure decreased significantly after the installation. I assumed this was because of the limitations of output from a tankless water heater, but my plumber assessed the situation and determined that the issue was not with the water heater output but rather a restriction in the very improvised and inadequate piping Greentop had installed to hook the water heater up. My plumber also pointed out that the installation was very much not up to code and would make any sort of servicing on the water heater nigh impossible in years to come. I attempted to rectify the issue with Greentop, but at this point Ruslan told me his business had decided to pivot away from tankless water heaters and soon water heaters in general and so they basically declined to do any more work on the system and instead pitched on replacing it with a hybrid (heat pump) water heater. After much back and forth, I eventually gave in and went with that recommendation and we've been pretty happy with the new hybrid system. A lot of extra time, money and headache. Regarding the heat pump and air handler, everything seemed to be going well with that system until the cold snap in late December 2021. The heat pump had trouble keeping the house above 50 degrees. With a young child this was a bad situation for us. Not wanting to work with Greentop any further, I have since consulted with GoGreen (another local heating and cooling company with a better reputation) and they told me that it was very strange that Greentop would recommend the heatpump unit they did because it did not come with HyperHeat and would very obviously not be sufficient to heat a house of our size on cold Seattle winter days. We are now having to replace or amend the system Greentop installed after only a year. They should have never recommended/installed the system they did because it was so clearly inadequate to heat our house. I wish I had done more homework, but I don't believe that should be my job when consulting a heating/cooling professional. One last note is that I will just say that communication with Greentop was abysmal from beginning to end. The initial consultation was late, all of the service appointments were late, I almost never received phone calls with any updates, I routinely had to text message Ruslan (the owner) directly to get any sort of updates or communication and even then that would be delayed, unreliable and incomplete. I would not recommend Greentop to anyone who doesn't have a lot of knowledge about heating/cooling systems or doesn't know exactly what they want. Their track-record with my house suggests they are looking to install whatever is easiest or most cost efficient for them with no eye on what is best for the customer. read more
