Worked with Green City to get an unused gas pipeline removed from my crawlspace. These folks were recommended by PSE and were amongst the highly reviewed and rated providers. And I was not disappointed. Jeff came over to my house for a (free) inspection and then followed up with a quote - for the work and a city decom permit. On the day of work, Damon came (couple of hours later than scheduled) but got the work done as described and to my satisfaction. Damon ensured that all gas devices were working correctly after the job was done. Overall the communication with Kristi for the scheduling and Susan for the permit scheduling was smooth. Removed 1 star from the review because of a wierd incident with one of the schedulers - Claudia. She felt rude and unprofessional. My appointment was scheduled a month in advance - so I had planned my day accordingly. Suddenly I get a message that my appointment has been preponed which conflicted with daycare and school committments! When I called and asked she mentioned that "my job was not urgent", "they wanted to fit more people" - but that doesn't mean you can change an appointement 24 hours prior, unilaterly. That too when I had booked the appointment a month in advance. She tried arguing to either reschedule my appointment to another day or to keep it preponed. When I was adamant on maintaining the original appointment she ultimately uttered "oh this is useless" and rudely accepted to honor it. And then on day of service the technician came a couple of hours later than scheduled. This whole sequence let a bad taste. Barring this incident, corresponding and working with Green City was pleasurabled. I will surely consider working with them next time. read more

After 3 weeks, we never revieved any further contact. no communications or project proposal, never ever heard from the d1p$h1t estimator. After more weeks & messages of prodding we got an unacceptable NOT realisitic proposal for our project which was immediately dismissed into the round file. Our furnace went out unexpectedly while it was still verrrry chilly outside (and in a 3000 sq ft, 2 story house -- it got verrry chilly inside) -- after some failed attempts to get other companies out to take a look, a neighbor recommended we just go with Green City -- and from the very first phone call with them, we knew they were the way to go. From that first phone call to installation of our new heat pump (which we LOVE), the whole process took less than a week (minus inspections), and Green City led us through every step (including booking our permit inspection appointments!) -- and with financing options that really worked for us for this very much unexpected expense. They kept us up to date every step of the way, and were very patient with every question we had/phone call we made to them. I told them that I know I scheduled the appointment on 3/19 as the water heater warranty expires on 3/21. GCH&A then stated that they changed my appt due to staffing issues. They stated they left a message yesterday ( I never received). They only follow up after 24 hours. Huh? Then they told me I am not there only customer. I never will be a customer. Eventually they just left me hanging with no hot water for nearly a month, after I'd paid them for a service call during which they didn't resolve my issue. Their "solutions" involved me buying a new water heater to replace one that was supposed to last 20 years, and which they'd only installed 4 years ago. I cannot encourage you enough to get other bids and go elsewhere - you don't want to end up like me, starting a process to take them to court. We hired Green City to install a 3-Zone ductless system in our home after the heat wave last summer. We were first scheduled for install in September but a delay of the head units pushed the install. We got rescheduled for install again the last week of November and again was informed the day before what we had ordered was not in stock. After not hearing from anyone for almost two months regarding the status of our equipment and install, I called and requested if we could just upgrade the units to something that was in stock. We were able to do so and received a discount on the upgraded units. Finally. everything has been installed and we are pleased with thus far. The installers were friendly, explained everything they were doing, and cleaned up afterwards. Even though it took almost 6 months to have the system installed and it was unfortunate what we originally ordered caused such a delay but we are pleased with the upgraded Daikin Emura system. read more

Absolutely fantastic to work with. From scheduling, inspection & diagnosis, and repairs. Staff were great to work with. Kristi was very professional and open to my concerns and hesitation due to service work provided by another company. She was thorough in notes, verifying and clarifying all my questions. Robert who was the technician that arrived to perform diagnosis and inspection was spectacular. He was detailed in explaining his findings and his process, which was greatly appreciated. Kristi was kind enough to even have Robert come back out to complete the work once the part ordered had arrived. We were informed by Robert that he may or may not be the one to return to complete the work but was reassuring of his fellow coworker's work. would be cautious with GreenCity's service team. GreenCity serviced our 11-year-old Lennox 96% furnace in April 2024. Everything seemed great at first, but recently it stopped working. We asked them to diagnose why it wasn't functioning. Their technician, Matt H., came to our house. According to him, there were two options: 1) Repair the parts, which could cost under $3,000. However, due to numerous issues related to installation, infrastructure, and parts that need repair (I don't remember the details, and GreenCity and Matt have not sent us the diagnosis report despite at least three requests). Even with those fixes, the unit wouldn't pass inspection. 2) Replace the entire unit with a Daikin for under $7,000. When two different dedicated Lennox technicians checked it out, they both concluded that the unit did not need to be replaced and could be repaired for under $1,200. So we spent our money without receiving the report we deserved and instead received misleading information from the technician. Also, please check their permit fees if you are installing new furnaces; they are higher than your city charges. They have just lost a customer for good. By the way, when they serviced our furnace in April, they replaced the filter that was the wrong size. The filter size is 16x24x4, but they replaced it with a 16x24x1. read more

Our boiler went out on a Saturday, called Green City Heating and Air Conditioning (GCH) and left a message on their voice mail. Within the hour, Jeff returned my call. We discussed the issues which could not be replaced due to the parts houses are not open on the weekends but he said he would contact me first thing on Monday (which he did). The boiler had to be replaced (which I knew in my gut but now verified. Within an hour Jeff had a estimate (felt it was fair and with in industry standards). Project was scheduled for the following day (Tuesday). Both Robert and Devon showed up at 8 am as scheduled. Both the technicians were professional, took time to make sure their work did not interfere nor disrupted the household. They both worked together as a team and communicated what was to be done and the schedule to which the work was to be performed. Extra clean and neat from start to finish (they left the work area cleaner than when they started. Robert and Devon both worked as craftsman. Since this installation was after the broken furnace, my mother badly needed a new furnace as quickly as possible. Otherwise, she had to hold on to a small radiator all day. They responded immediately when I called in to request a bid, an employee came out the next day to discuss the job with me, the bid was fair as I had got other bids before this one. They had to install the AC unit on the deck outside of our home and drill through a brick wall. They did all this in one day. We needed to replace our furnace, upgrade our ductwork and add cooling to our home. We procured about 25 estimates (some vendors provided multiple options) and after doing our due diligence, selected Green City Heating and Air. Josh Bond was extremely knowledgeable, responsive and overall just great to work with. Given the cost of the system, I was very particular about what I wanted, including where the additional vents would be located. Josh was a great sounding board, telling us straight up what was necessary and what wasn't. I never felt like I was being sold to. In fact, I actually had to ask Josh to add two options to the proposal after doing the research on my end. Josh's professionalism and service extended to Jasper and Ron who did our installation. They were extremely respectful of our house, making sure every area was covered before beginning their work. They always arrived promptly and worked tirelessly to get the system up and running in a short amount of time. Everything was done well, to the point the inspector noted how well the ductwork was run. They always stopped to explain what they were doing and in general just made sure I was in the loop re: every step of the process. They could've taken shortcuts here or there but instead always went the extra mile to ask for my preference even if that meant additional work on their end. The only two hiccups was a miscommunication between the office and the installers regarding the amount of returns and the inspectors requiring exhaust modification. Jasper and Ron came back twice to rectify these problems and both times, they again arrived promptly and got their work done very quickly. We used another company to install the central A/C unit in our house a couple years ago and when we needed a ductless unit installed in an ADU last year we received quotes from a couple companies including the other provider and Green City. Jeff from Green City was who we worked with and I remember, in addition to having a competitive quote, he was super informative throughout the process and helped us make the best decision for the space we needed A/C and heat for. Fast forward to the Saturday of the weekend with record-setting heat. We have a 1 month old and our 2 year old condenser that another vendor installed has stopped working just before midnight. We know going into a Sunday, especially such a hot weekend, only so many A/C companies will be working and with such a hot forecast the few are probably in crazy high demand. Nonetheless we try contacting companies that show they have 24/7 service available. The first we can't even reach anyone. The second is Green City and thankfully Jeff answered. Of course he's also 100 inquiries deep so unable to do a service call but did spend a few mins talking with my husband via phone to troubleshoot. Thanks to his help, my husband figured out what needed to be fixed to get the condenser running again and we were able to stay relatively comfortable. The last straw for me was when Green City pitched installing a brand new unit to save time. I compared the offer quoted ($1000.00 / 40 gallon) to their offer on Angie's List ($999.00 / 50 gallon tank) as it turns out - they're not even giving me the deal that they offer to new/random customers. I'm very happy with my experience with Green City Heating. It's been a rough year and the newest of home-things-going-wrong was my heat going out on a Saturday! We were freezing inside as it quickly dropped down to 50 degrees in the house (doesn't sound terrible unitl you realize it's colder inside than outside!) I sent out a bunch of quote requests to HVAC places here on Yelp, and Green City were the ONLY ones to actually try to help me troubleshoot rather than just quote me a consultation fee. They even had a tech call me so we could troubleshoot possible problems over the phone at no charge! This was so helpful and appreciated. It ended up needing a live person to come out, and my 16 year old furnace was kapoot needing a replacement. They again were helpful in getting me the best deal for a new furnace, handled the rebate through Puget Sound Energy, and even helped me get no interest financing for the whole thing. The heat went out on Saturday, and by Wednesday I had a new furnace and heat again thanks to Green City. So appreciated! read more

I understand it doesn't always work like that, but I appreciate taking the time to figure out if and when it will to save everyone's time. Before we could even make a plan, a few days later we ended up with a dead (and old) furnace on a cold Friday night and Jeff took my call and made it a priority to get us on the schedule for Monday. He was also honest talking through the pros and cons of considering a repair instead. The techs showed up earlier than the predicted window. There was a minor hiccup with getting our original thermostat set back up, but we figured it all out, and Jeff was more than accommodating and responsive when I reached out to him directly about it. No one seems to know how to return a phone call. I had to call back 4 times before someone finally answered my question and set up a time to have a technician come out to repair my gas fireplace. I was told each time that they would get right back to me. I waited for at least a day or two then had to call back and re-ask the same question. When the problem was finally fixed it created another issue with my fireplace. When I called to have the service technician come back out I was told they no longer service gas fireplaces. It had been less than a week since the technician had been out. I asked to talk to a supervisor, as usual I was told he would have to call be back. I'm still waiting for a call!!!! read more

Isaac worked with us to help us understand the HVAC landscape, surveyed the site, identified and differentiated the possible options, Most importantly as our understanding and requirements evolved - he listened, gave us feedback that drew on his previous experiences as an installer, and gave us trust in the solution they'd install. In considering our installation, we talked to over half a dozen other vendors before selecting Green City's very timely, detailed, and competitive bid. We especially liked their transparency of costs and labour, the products they selected, and warranty of their work. Installation of all items took around 2 days, the crew were great to work with, clean, timely, methodical, and kept us informed and confident in their progress throughout. Installation was pain free, we were without water for only an hour during all of this! In wrapping-up, the install team walked us through the quotation as a checklist, making sure we knew how all the equipment functioned, that it was properly connected to the Lennox control systems, and that we were satisfied. Permitting was quick and easy. The system halved our gas bill in the first month alone, and gave welcome filtered-air relief during the smoke of late summer. We are delighted with Green City's work, we'd definitely work with them again. read more

Update: We finally passed our inspection after three months. Now it's the first snowfall of winter and their top of the line Daikon system keeps flipping my breakers. According to their own inspection the wire gauge the electricians used is too small for the power load (which is very dangerous) and the system does not have enough return air which is causing it to short-cycle which degrades the life of the compressor. They are nice people but its just one disappointment after another. Day three of freezing in my own home, now I wait for their electricians, the same ones who poorly set up the system in the first place. Original: Two months after install and we still haven't passed our permit inspections. Every time I call them about it they act like they've completely forgotten about us. The actual system and install were decent but in terms of finishing the job they just don't seem to care. Lesson learned, do not remit full payment until you have passed inspections and completed permits in hand. read more

Green City installed two ductless mini splits for us and a combo tankless water heater to handle radiant floor heating and hot water. We've waited 7 years to get the radiant heating hooked up because we couldn't find anyone to do it for a reasonable price. At the same time, our gas furnace died and we had to replace it. After meeting with 5 different contractors and getting bids, we chose Green City, which was able to do both parts of the job. We had no heat, so as soon as we secured the financing, they were on the job. Everyone is extremely knowledgeable and very pleasant to work with. The quote was very reasonable, and the whole project was completed in 3 days. Excellent service from start to finish. This is the way a heating and air conditioning company should be run. Regarding financing, we didn't end up using PSCCU, but our credit union said they are great. read more
