Greentop did a fantastic job installing a heat pump for me. When spending this kind of money, it is important to have someone to talk with who isn't dismissive, and Andres delivered. He was my estimator and helped throughout the process with scheduling, getting Manual J calculations (which John put together), ensuring everything got done, and addressing my various concerns. Vovchik and Sergey, the technicians, did a great job installing everything: they put the compressor outside right where I wanted, cleaned up after themselves, and routed all the electrical and piping cleanly. The inspectors signed off on the work in about 5 minutes, which is a good sign. Greentop even came out to fix a rattle in the furnace / ducting, and again to confirm heat pump vs auxiliary heat operation, both with no charge after install. Greentop treated me with respect throughout the process (sadly not too common when contractors work with women) and I'd absolutely recommend them again. read more

Updates: What Ruslan responded was completely inaccurate. Please see the attached screenshots. As you can see, we agreed to do the job on August 12th. They showed up on 12th without permits. Of course, I would not allow them to work on the project without a permit. I never cancelled the job and made multiple attempts to reschedule. Ruslan claimed that their license expired on Tuesday 17th. But it turned out that they never had a license with Mercer Island: their license was first issued on August 18th, 2021. If you search public records, no permits were ever pulled for my job. ***They never had a license with Mercer Island until 08/18. And they attempted to do the job without a license on 08/12!*** ***Ruslan: You're still lying. If you ever paid for any permits (which you didn't) and send it to me, I'm more than happy to reimburse that for you. ***. Summary: Run away. They'll make promises that they could not keep to earn your business and once you choose to go with them (at which point, you've probably declined all other bidders), you'll realize that a lot of promises (pulling permits, having the equipment in stock, etc) simply could not be met. You either have to accept the "updated offer" or accept the fact that you've wasted a month waiting for their installation and you'll have to recontact some of the bidders that you've previously declined. Details: I decided to add AC to my existing forced air furnace heating system and contacted GreenTop for a quote. The initial meetup with Vladimir was pleasant and I quickly received bids from Ruslan. I had a few clarification questions regarding permits, brand of thermostats, energy rebates, financing options, etc, and Ruslan all responded in a very timely manner. It was not the most competitive bids I got but based on the good reviews on Yelp and the good communication with Ruslan, I decided to give GreenTop a try. But on the day of the job, things turned 180. A technician showed up without an electrical or mechanical permit. I contacted Ruslan immediately and they said Ruslan said get the permit that day. Sounds sketchy... But I decided to give it a benefit of the doubt and thought it could be an honest mistake. I was debating whether I should ask them to stop the work before acquiring the permit and I finally decided to stay on the safe side and wait for the permit to be pulled. I checked with Ruslan about permit status the next day. Ruslan did not respond to be until the next Monday, on which day he said that "We should have mechanical permit today and electrical permit tomorrow." I followed up with Ruslan the next day and only until that point, Ruslan admitted that not only had their license for the particular municipality I'm located in expired, but also the unit was not available... And they recommended me to go with another company and wasted me several weeks of time waiting... I could not imagine what would happen if I didn't ask the job to be stopped. read more

Greentop recently completed a complex job for us and I feel I must leave this review to help anyone else who's deciding whether to hire them for something complicated. They did a fabulous job and we are very pleased. In 2010, we gut renovated our home but left the oil furnace in place at the time. This year we finally got around to replacing it with a heat pump, motivated by the hot summers we've been having, the new Seattle heating oil tax, and to be more green/efficient. So, the scope of the job was to replace the oil furnace with a 36k BTU Mitsubishi air handler and 36k Mitsubishi Hyperheat heat pump (using our existing ductwork), to add floor ducting from our addition's crawl space with a Mitsubishi ducted air handler, and adding a Mitsubishi 9k MSZ-FS09 wall mini split to another room. The latter two systems share a second heat pump, 24k Mitsubishi Hyperheat. Three different types of systems, working within finished rooms, running electrical and refrigerant lines from literally one side of the house to the other. Adding to the complexity, the exterior of our house has some architecture that makes running the line set raceway challenging, at least to do it most discreetly. There were other guys on our job who I'm sure did good work, but to me Alex and Volodymyr were the most visible and the stars of our job. The electricians who I believe were subs were also excellent. Alex was on the job all 4 days, making our air handler and mechanical room functional and tidy. He worked tirelessly in the crawlspace running back and forth to locate floor vent placement. It took several workers to get the line set around the bend from the mechanical room and up into a finished ceiling, but they did it, and now we only have to slightly extend a soffit to enclose the lines. And Volodymyr was a wizard with the line set raceway from the second story wall unit, following my diagram to a T. And he also did a super tidy and impressive job placing the two heat pumps in our side yard (see photos), and nailed the placement of the wall unit, where we have unusual cladding on the exterior. The electrical inspector said everything looked great, as did the mechanical inspector. Greentop only had to come back and add some sealant to the plenum box, which they did immediately, within a couple of hours of calling. Greentop had all the best Mitsubishi equipment we asked for, and they had it on hand in their warehouse. They covered the finished floors where they worked, and took off their shoes when they came upstairs. Our dogs loved them. :) They were super professional in their work with the air handler drain pan, auto shut off, tying both the air handler and our existing HRV drip line into a new condensate pump, using Honeywell box filters and more. Not necessarily itemized in our estimate, but you can tell they want to do things the right way and did not skimp. We've already used both heating and cooling and they systems work perfectly. I live in Issaquah, WA and recently had three ductless split air conditioners installed in my town house. I rarely write reviews, but I wanted to highlight the above average customer service we got from our technician named Adrian. The job took two days to complete and Adrian was punctual, had excellent communication, and went above and beyond to instal the outside covers ( which housed the AC wire/tubes). He arrived on time on both days and was an efficient worker through the entirety of the job. As a homeowner I liked that he explained how it was going when I poked my head out between my work meetings. When he was finished he made sure to go over how the units worked, gave my wife and I some helpful tips + reminders and tested each unit to make sure everything was working and to my liking. Lastly, Adrian quickly realized that if he ran the AC tubes/wire through my attic for my third floor unit, he wouldn't have to run them through the outside (making the installation look cleaner from the outside--which both I and my HOA were happy with). After the last big heatwave, I wanted to get a heat pump or AC installed. Got several quotes from some local HVAC installers to have a heat pump added to an existing gas furnace. GreenTop/ Ruslan came out with the most competitive price and were the only one able to install within 2-3 weeks. Most of the other contractors were almost 2 months out. On top of that, the other companies were trying to up sale me a new furnace or extra services. Ruslan was straight to the point and only offered what I asked for. The install itself took a few days; first day was to drop off the equipment and do the initial hook up of the coil to the furnace, run the lines, and install the outdoor unit. Second day was for the electrician to come out and install a new circuit to the box and that to the pump. The other Ruslan came out to finish up. The guys were very tidy and efficient throughout the whole process. So far so good and I'm staying cool in the house while it's 90+ degrees outside. I had a good response from Greentop when I asked for an estimate on a home heat pump. A technician came by to evaluate the conversion a month ago and promised an estimate in a couple of days. Since then, no response. I contacted Greentop and was told the technician I saw had to talk to the chief technician, and they would get back to me. No response since then. For some reason, I have to assume, this company doesn't want to do business with me, and is stonewalling. I am barely inside their posted service region, so that may have something to do with it. Our 20-year old furnace had a cracked heat exchanger and needed to be replaced. GreenTop came out on Friday afternoon to give a quote along with other companies. My wife and I returned from the hospital with our newborn and immediately noticed the house was cold. We have radiant heat and apparently our tankless water heater started throwing an error while we were away. I was able to get the device working for a few hours at a time by cycling the power, but it would keep shutting down. Wow, what a great company. I cannot say enough good things about GreenTop. We were loyal customers to Brennan Heating for years. We used them for installation and yearly service. After our last inspection/service Brennan said our furnace and AC were both working well. Two weeks after using our AC this summer it stopped working. Just our luck it happened to be during a heat wave. We called for help and they put us on a two week wait. When the technician did show up he diagnosed the problem but said it wasn't anything he could repair without parts. After waiting two weeks for the service I did not trust waiting on parts. I called GreenTop on a Saturday and the owner Ruslan called me back the same day. Ruslan said he felt we had an urgent need because it was so hot. Ruslan attempted next day service but Monday morning was the earliest he could get a technician to our house. I chose to have total furnace replacement due to the age of my furnace. I never heard back - it's been 3 weeks. All the other companies I got quotes from were more communicative and timely with their quotes and responses to questions, so I just went with one of them.
