MY wife and I went to Greenlawn Rv to buy a pull behind camper. We talked with a salesman named Jim. We decided to buy one, but told him we didn't want their financing, and we put $500 down on the camper. So we went to our bank and ended up getting a cashiers check for the rest owed on the camper to pay for it in full. We went back to Greenlawn RV the next day and talked with the woman at the front desk telling her we were there to pay for the camper. We gave her a cashiers check, and noted to her we were paying for it in full and we wanted a receipt. She said we would get that from the bank. But we noted to her that we just paid her in full our bank wasn't involved in this at this point we didn't finance this. So we did get a receipt from her, and we went back and talked with another salesman there going through the rest of the paperwork. We talked with him briefly and we got told the camper would come with a 45 day temporary plate/tags. He said we would get a copy of the title from the bank, and we explained to him we paid this in full, no loan or financing was done we handed them a cashiers check. We got through to him that it was paid in full, and he stamped paid in full on the paperwork/receipt we got from him. We didn't feel comfortable with how that salesman seemed to say this was unusual as if, no one had ever paid a camper off in full right away. So later we called Jim back and told him that we paid for it in full noting it was a cashiers check, not a loan, we did not finance this, our bank should not get the title. Jim, said the title would come to us, and that he would make sure the title department knew ahead of time. We eventually got a title from Greenlawn, but it had our bank as the lien holder, which shouldn't have been. So we called Greenlawn and ended up talking to a staff member saying we wanted our title, that there should not be a lien on this title and why. The person on the phone asked how we paid this off which was none of their concern getting us a clear title should have been that staff member' main focus. The employee seemed dubious that we paid it off in full, and said he would have to talk with the person in the title department and call me back. He did call back noting that the person in the title department needed time to find out what happened and to figure things out. We told Greenlawn we just wanted our title clear no lien holder, we paid for it in full so get it to us and stop worrying how we paid for it in full. They said they would call us next week and we said we wanted to hear something by Tuesday and we hung up. We were not called Tuesday. We then got a call by Greenlawn Wednesday, telling us they had the title last week because the bank sent it back to them which we said yeah of course the bank would they have nothing to do with the title. The woman we were speaking ot on the phone to Greenlawn also said they sat on it trying to figure out what to do with the title. I said I paid for the camper so send it to me, and again the employee was wondering how we paid for it in full which again isn't their concern. She said to us we can come get it or she would mail it to us. We said mail it, as we should get it by Friday of that week.
We did eventually get the title with no lien on it. But the staff at Greenlawn was unprofessional
in how they handled us as customers by messing around with our title, asking how we paid it off, poor communication to us, and with the fact that their service department is way understaffed/over worked which we noted to Greenlawn management, but to which they didn't seem concerned about that either despite that the service department is backed up with up to a month wait time for warranty service due to being understaffed. We only gave it 2 stars due to the hard working staff in the service department. read more
