We stopped for breakfast on our way up to Tahoe with kids. After we sat down another family of five and another two top were seated after us. Our waitress was so slow that both tables got their drinks, and food before us. The family of five were nearly done with their meal by the time we finally got our food, delivered by the other waiters as our girl stopped to have her breakfast. When going out to breakfast with kids, it's important that food and service be timely. The only reason I did give two stars is my Eggs Benedict was amazing! They substituted a sausage patty for the ham and the Hollandaise sauce was light and scrumptious!!! Unfortunately, hubby's eggs were inedible having asked for over medium they came out looking hard boiled. We like finding 'hidden gems' for breakfast and once found we return religiously. Unfortunately this is not a gem, just hidden. $2.50 for a can of soda is sad and as a non-coffee drinker I also judge on bottomless sodas from a fountain. I did get water and had to request refills for that, though the last fill was warm as no ice left in pitcher. Overall? We won't be back... Still looking for a hidden gem to stop at on way to Tahoe. read more

My group of girls came to Placerville to stay a few nights for a bachelorette party and we ended up eating here based on location and reviews. Love this place. My boyfriend and I came here on a busy day and busy time and their service did not suffer which I like. They were quick we didn't have to wait long for our food they were very friendly and the food was excellent! If you have to choose between this place and Denny's choose this place all the way! Went here this morning with the whole family, everyone loved it!!!!! Had a very hard time even deciding what to get, they have a huge selection. Cozy place with cute country decor. Feels like a place with regulars. Service on a Saturday morning was very, very slow, which is why I am not giving 5 stars, but other than that, the food was absolutely delicious and we will for sure be back. Really great house made biscuits. Get the biscuits and gravy- it will feed at least 2 people. Warning: there are some strange booths in the back left corner that are quite cramped. I am not even that large of a person and I nearly couldn't fit between the seat and the table. Moved to another table- problem solved, but I wish they would fix that! read more

One of our 2 favorite places for breakfasts in Placerville. Tucked away across from Raley's, behind the locksmith. Great food & great friendly service! The coffee is always hot, and there's no quibbling about whether you can order lunch vs. breakfast depending on what time you come in. I always order the corned beef hash with 2 scrambled eggs and hash browns and I devour every bite. Mom likes a sandwich for breakfast, while Dad like pancakes, so breakfast here is a win-win for all of us. Unfortunately, what stuck with me was overhearing the waitress complaining to a cook about customers who only come in for the $5 breakfast special and how the restaurant doesn't make any money off it. Given that the special is heavily advertised, complaining that people take advantage of it doesn't make sense. I really dislike hearing employees complain in front of customers. This place is a cozy, country atmosphere. We arrived Saturday around 8am, only one table was occupied. By the time our food arrived, there were 10 more tables full! We ordered the bacon, avocado, and cheese omelet, side of fruit, with wheat toast. The omelet was average, it was prepared like a crepe almost. The egg was cooked into a thin layer , then filled with the bacon, avocado, and cheese and wrapped up. I was expecting a larger portion for the price. $10.30 for a 3 egg omelet. The ingredients tasted fresh, besides the canned pineapple portion of the fruit :( The service from our waitress was definitely up to par! I would probably come back if ever in the area. The menu has a ton of selections. This place shows a $ but I think it's more of a $$ range. read more

Had lunch here the other day - the $5 hamburger special - and it was pretty good! You get to choose from several sides to accompany the burger - I enjoyed the fries. It's open seating and there are a couple tables outside. Our server was real nice and the food came quickly... they kept our drinks filled too. Parking is easy - the place is right next to Raley's. We live closer to buttercup and love it there but Sunday mornings, the wait is too long. We looked around and found this place. It wasn't completely packed, but fairly busy and the reviews were fabulous. It took 40 minutes for the 2 of us to receive our food. The $11 we paid for each meal was way too much for the portions and, considering they don't use seasoning. We both felt ill after eating as well. There is no way we'll be back or will recommend. There were 3 servers and it appeared only one of them was actually working. She was the one good thing about this place. read more

Great little breakfast spot. Food is very good, family owned I believe. Little pricey but still someplace we like to go. ONLY issue we had recently is- we called in for a TOGO order and were told me over the phone that they were SWAMPED due to a concert near by and if we want food, we need to come in and order. I called my husband (who was already almost there) and told him the scenario. He walked in to a half empty diner and they could have very easily taken the order. This happened twice.... would be nice if they were just honest and said they don't take phone orders. We still continue to give our business but defiantly left a bad taste for awhile. read more

Hoosegow isn't anythng to write home about, but it's way better in every sense (food, atmoshpere, service) than Greenhouse. We were so disappointed in the bland tasting lunch and unimpressed with the generic atmosphere and mediocre value. We like to give every local diner a more than one chance, but our experiecne at Greenhouse was just so blah, that we won't likely be going back or recommending it to others. After reading the reviews on yelp, we were anxious to try Greenhouse, but unfortunately it couldn't have been a more meh experience all the way around. read more

Great food! I ordered the veggie melt with fries to go. The bread was nicely toasted and the veggies contained were delicious. I think it comes with tomato, avocado, mushrooms and cheese. Rated three stars because it took about 20 minutes to get my sandwich but to be fair t looks like they only had one cook that day? Not sure. I would love to leave a 5 star review. Although the food made you wanting more, service was great everyone smiles and customers seemed like they were regulars, service was quick and reasonably priced I'm glad we found this gem, but the restroom was just disgusting. The trash was overflowing and toilet was clogged. When we mentioned to the girl it could use some TLC she just said there is another upstairs it didn't look as if she was going to have anyone clean it up. It just made me feel grossed out.
