Wow, Yelp really failed me this time. Had to do a little grocery shopping at the nearby Raley's so dropped in for a late breakfast-early lunch. First of all, the coffee. How anyone could commend their coffee is a stretch. Coffee was weak and thin, absolutely no body or taste. Probably one of the worst cups I have experienced at a restaurant in my past. I ordered the french toast. It really wasn't too bad, not memorable like several reviewers claimed. In fact, it was a little tough and required a knife to cut it. My wife had eggs, hash browns and a biscuit. Again, nothing that would draw any rave reviews. The waitstaff seemed friendly and willing to please, but the food just didn't hold up to close to 4 stars. I really am puzzled about the good reviews. Definitely will not return. read more

Great for breakfast or lunch. What I love about their omelettes is that they are very thin - if you are pro-fluffy omelette, maybe not your place. To me, they are divine. The veggie one has a great combo of healthy veggies and some additional add-ons (like jalapenos) available. If you are keto-inclined, you can opt for a side of tomatoes in place of potatoes. This place is in a good location close to Raleys and off the freeway. The service was initially really quick and helpful but it took quite some time for us to get our check and to get out the door. The food was decent and with decent portion sizes- we had a Denver omelette and a breakfast burrito (sausage and bacon), coffee, and a large oj. The reason I'm leaving a 3 star review is because our bill was $60... they charged for quite literally everything and it's definitely not cheap. So while we were happy to patronize a locally owned restaurant, the price is going to make it challenging to return. read more

So, we chose Greenhouse Cafe because of their positive Yelp reviews. We were not disappointed! The food was yummy! There were four of us and everyone enjoyed their meal. My only one disappointment was they do not offer ANY discounts - no Veteran's Discount, no Fireman Discount, no Senior Discount, so hence my 4-star. Yes, it's their business and they can to choose to not offer any, but in this day and age who doesn't offer at least one of these three? Keep up the great work! We'll be back. read more

This was my 1st time here I came with my husband and 1 of our friends , the staff was very nice and helpful and the restaurant is very small and cute An nice and it was very clean as well and every time as soon as someone was done using the table it was picked up very fast and cleaned fast and ready for the next set of people from everything I seen when I was there. All the food we got came out hot and fresh and tasted great and you get big size plates for what you pay for so it's well worth it. The staff also kept checking on us and seeing how we were doing even though they were very busy, it's worth the wait for the food and a table if you come here to eat. This place is great for breakfast and lunch as well. I highly recommend this place for everyone if you haven't checked it out. My husband and I will definitely be coming back and will be telling everyone we know to come check it out as well. My husband and I love coming to places like this where it's a little mom and pop dinner and this place is also very laid back as well. I have had both breakfast and lunch here. It is a diner style cafe in the shopping center by Raleys. It was a bit hard to find for me, as it is on the side of the building opposite from the sign they had out front. Options are about what you would expect in a place like this - some omlets, eggs and bacon, French toast, oatmeal, etc. For breakfast, we both got a French toast combo - it was really good, and just under $10. Not a huge portion but large enough that we were both satisfied when we were done. For lunch, I was less impressed. I got a BLT, which was perfectly fine but nothing out of the ordinary, and fries, which were basic frozen fries. Not a bad meal, but nothing special either. It was $11+ which I felt was maybe a little high for what you got. Service was excellent both times - prompt and friendly. The cafe is clean, makes decent coffee, etc. It's a basic, American type restaurant. I will probably come back on occasion. read more

Great service. Great food. We stopped here on the way home from Tahoe. They were able to accommodate a party of 7. I had the breakfast burrito and they were able to make it just the way I like it with mushrooms instead of meat. I highly recommend this place and will definitely be back. read more

Best french toast in town. I remember once, somebody challenged me on this and we set out to try Zachary Jacks french toast when they were still around. NOT EVEN CLOSE. Anyways, besides french toast, they are just a great small town cafe who do things the right way. Simple and delicious. There are the more trendy tourists trap cafes... don't fall for the facade of it all. This place is the real deal. Try homefries with side of homemade salsa. Or if your in the mood for lunch.... try the turkey with some of the salsa. If the food wasn't enough, in all the years of living in this town and going to eateries... I'm surprised no one had reviewed this, it seems like a place that is a hit with the locals. I met my aunt and a friend here for lunch one day. It's in the Raley's shopping center. It's your regular ole cafe. The have salads, melts, burgers, and a few other items here and there. They have some outdoor seating too. I order the turkey melt which was quite good. My aunt got the salad and it looked awesome, so I would probably get that next time. Some of order was lost in translation, but they realized later on and apologized so it was no big deal at all. Nothing really costs over $10 a plate, so it's reasonably priced. I would definitely go back, although I'm never in Placerville that often. read more

We stopped for breakfast on our way up to Tahoe with kids. After we sat down another family of five and another two top were seated after us. Our waitress was so slow that both tables got their drinks, and food before us. The family of five were nearly done with their meal by the time we finally got our food, delivered by the other waiters as our girl stopped to have her breakfast. When going out to breakfast with kids, it's important that food and service be timely. The only reason I did give two stars is my Eggs Benedict was amazing! They substituted a sausage patty for the ham and the Hollandaise sauce was light and scrumptious!!! Unfortunately, hubby's eggs were inedible having asked for over medium they came out looking hard boiled. We like finding 'hidden gems' for breakfast and once found we return religiously. Unfortunately this is not a gem, just hidden. $2.50 for a can of soda is sad and as a non-coffee drinker I also judge on bottomless sodas from a fountain. I did get water and had to request refills for that, though the last fill was warm as no ice left in pitcher. Overall? We won't be back... Still looking for a hidden gem to stop at on way to Tahoe. read more

This is a nice American cafe with some seriously good food. My husband and 2 kids crawled here after camping at the KOA all weekend. They had us seated promptly and were helpful in getting my kids set up with cups with lids so they wouldn't spill their milk. We were shopping and banking in the area and decided to give it a try. My husband (who is very particular about omelettes) ordered a bacon, spinach and Swiss omelette with hash browns. We both figure if a restaurant can't get hash browns right, it isn't worth a trip. These were just about perfect: crispy and golden on the outside, soft inside. The omelette was DELICIOUS! Plenty of filling, and the omelet itself was cooked as it should be, not dry or runny.. I ordered the turkey sandwich on toasted sourdough, with onion rings. The turkey was flavorful, there was plenty of it. The onion rings were CRISPY! Yay! My only criticism was that I expected my sourdough to be grilled and warm, not previously toasted and cold. My group of girls came to Placerville to stay a few nights for a bachelorette party and we ended up eating here based on location and reviews. I went to the Greenhouse Cafe for the first time today and I most certainly will be back. My Mother ordered the Gobbler and I had their BLTA special. The food was truly excellent. All the ingredients were fresh and clearly they cook from scratch. The Gobbler comes with turkey they cook in house. Our waitress and the rest of their staff were very courteous. Our food came in a timely manner, and the prices were very reasonable. I wish I had known about this gem before...it was that good. read more
