This is a positive feedback review on Kevin Peterson - who works for Greenheart Landscapes. I left several messages through Yelp App requesting a quote on a project I had in mind. Kevin called a couple hours later and I could tell the sincerity of his voice immediately, "how can I help you?" Nice guy. Polite. I proceeded to tell him what I've noticed for a while now: Our side yard and backyard have noticeable puddling during heavy rain pours, and it takes a while for the puddle to clear. I told Kevin based on what I've read we might need to regrade, or place french drain? Kevin looked up at our house via Google map and he provided his thoughts and assessment on what might be a better solution. He gave me a phone# and the name of a guy that could better help us and provide resolution to our issues. I felt that Kevin was honest, professional, and guided me with appropriate direction that was best suited for our issue, especially given the cost involved. Exceptional, superb, timely, expert and reasonably priced. Something that cannot be said of many contractors in the Valley. We recently purchased a build-it-yourself Mirador Pergola from Costco and were in need for professional installation. These folks at Greenheart Pergolas went above and beyond in their expert workmanship and meticulous detail orientation. Our team of Dagney (supervisor) and installers Pancho and Agustin were thorough and detailed in their work and care. After digging footers, laying concrete and installing the structure as precisely measured, cleaned up both the debris and Pergola leaving the perimeter as if nothing had happened. The 10' by 13' pergola, along with a sliding side screen now covers our spa so we can enjoy it more than ever. We highly recommend these folks who not only do pergolas but other outdoor landscape jobs. They are professional, amicable, friendly, great to work with as well as reasonably priced. read more

One of the best compliments to a business is being a repeat customer. Writing a nice Yelp review might be a close second. Back in 2017, we had the Greenheart team come out and help us dream up a concept for a cozy backyard. Fast forward six years later, we're still so happy with the way it turned out. We've moved away since, but we kept the house and now serve as landlords. The intentionally low-maintenance backyard has kept its promise. The original yard was a clean slate covered with dirt and weeds. Our initial idea was to install a square piece of turf and surround it with flat pavers. Mike encouraged us to think bigger. He suggested adding curves and mounds to the landscape to give it character and personality. We decided to see his design concept, and once we saw it, we were blown away by how he transformed our ideas. The final result was a more rounded piece of turf with pavers sprawling into a rock-covered area. Thoughtfully planted trees and bushes grow into the space and attract hummingbirds. The recommendation for "pet paradise" turf was a great touch - it's been easy to keep clean and sanitary. While we didn't have pets going outside, plenty of toddlers put it to the test. Our new tenants have dogs, and the backyard seems to suit them well too. Now, having been in our new house for a few years, we're not satisfied with the current backyard layout. We liked the results of our front yard so much we decided to have Irene and team tackle our backyard. We had a vision, but Irene and Mike took it to the next level. Continuing with the water issues our lot has, we dug out a dry well in the back. With their vision, we turned it into a bocce court/fire pit by adding steps down and finishing the look with a small stucco wall surround. They also added steps and an enclosure to our free standing hot tub. The lighting and plants took it next level. The crew Irene had is the hardest working I've been around. Greenheart did an extensive remodel on our yard (front and back.) Project took two weeks and included plants, irrigation, pavers, artificial turf, stucco repair, lighting, and rock and hardscape. They were recommended by our local nursery. We could not be more pleased! Owner Irene and her team were a sincere pleasure to work with. All work was done on schedule/budget with clean up every day. Landscape Designer Timi came with a beautiful design, along with great plant selections based on her degree in horticulture. Greenheart just completed my patio renovation, which is fabulous, much more the expected. Travertine replaced 20 yr old flagstone, a much richer look, color a beautiful blend of beiges,Lighting was the frosting on the cake, and made a huge difference. Added misters,foggers, beautiful pots, with a touch of color., and a pergola. Irene, the owner, was a delight to work with, along with Mike the project go to person. I am so glad I used Greenheart Landscaping. This was our first time hiring for a big design project (big for us that is). They were heads and tails above all the others with attention to detail and interest in making a cool design based on what we were thinking. None of the other companies we got quotes from were interested in doing something a little differently. Everyone was professional/not creepy which a huge plus when they're at your house all day. They came back and replanted when some plants didn't make it over the summer last year. I just realized that I didn't review them last year so I wanted to do that now. He only issue was some communication snags, which were annoying, but that happens on most projects. If we ever move I know who I will call to do the backyard again. read more

I'm giving them 2 stars because my initial communication with them was great. Regina was friendly and Carlos was friendly and helpful when chatting through our project goals during our quote consultation. Unfortunately things went down from there. I was told I would receive a follow up quote within two weeks after the consultation. I did not hear anything back for a month, so I reached out again and was told they would look into it. Again, two weeks later, no response. I followed up again only to be told that "the rep informed you that you did not meet our minimum". Mind you that the only thing I was told during the consultation was that I'd hear back in two weeks, but I never did. Additionally, when I got an explanation, they claimed that there was a 5k minimum on projects and that "the rep indicated to me that he told you that the day of the consultation". I had told our rep that we were looking for 4k-10k for our project during our consultation. In fact, when I had asked him what their minimum was, he instead said that they don't like to give minimums and that he'd just like to know our price range instead (4k-10k). The Owner was the one who handled the last email response to me and clearly showed no interest in trying to keep my business. All they needed to do was ask me a few questions to clear things up. It's really that simple when it comes to earning and retaining a client base. Instead they decided to make assumptions and trust the word of a rep (who is no longer there?) about what price I was apparently willing to spend. I'm shocked, really. read more

Irene, Freddie and the entire crew, I cannot begin to say how great they all are! The work was started and completed expediently, started 2 weeks earlier then expected. I can say it far- surpassed our expectations. Freddie gave so many great ideas that obviously I took advantage of and implemented. I have referred 3 friends already, the work is amazing. Another thing that really impressed me was how they kept the job site so clean, they used blue tarp to place gravel/sand on:-) When Freddie said they would be here they were always on time! GreenHeart landscapes built me my dream backyard that I have wanted for the past five years. They went above and beyond the previous owners had a Koi pond in the backyard and filled it with a bunch of random crap and then just topped it with rocks. While Greenhart landscaping was remodeling my backyard they realize that there was was a large whole under my rocks that had never been filled properly they filled it compacted it and still finished on time. Greenheart did our front lawn in central Phoenix. Overall it was a very positive experience, we love our yard and many of the best features were ideas direct from Mike. We bid this out to several contractors over the course of 3 months, and only Mike came up with novel ideas that gave our yard real personality. We've had a number of neighbors and passersby comment on how nice the yard looks. Some pros and cons of the experience listed below. Pros: - Price was fair. The quote was broken down in detail, which allowed us to easily evaluate the Greenheart cost vs others. While their price wasn't the lowest, that was mainly due to our desire to include a paver walkway, some treewells, etc that other bidders hadn't included as options (all Mike's ideas). - They weren't pushy about adding anything, the choice was left to us for what we wanted to include/exclude. Low pressure. - Mike was very attentive during the design process. He went and looked at plants with us and had a real passion for the work. - They provided us with an initial sketch with the bid and a more detailed drawing at the beginning of the project. This helped with alignment on what the yard was going to look like and what was expected. - The crew was very respectful and clean when doing the work. Cons: - Communication wasn't very strong once the project got started. There were a number of occasions where I felt like I was relaying info between Irene, Mike, the foreman, and back again. I felt like I had to be present to make sure the yard was done according to what we wanted/expected. - The project closeout was poor. While the main body of work was done quickly, there were a handful of unresolved items that I had to email and text about for a few weeks before they came back to fix them. - The treatment for the areas that went from grass to rock have a lot of grass coming back up. This was a concern I expressed at the onset of the project, but I am still spraying Roundup frequently. I expected to have to continuously treat the rock areas to prevent the growth of grass, but not so soon after the work was completed (grass started popping up in areas about a week after the job and continues to appear). read more

I contacted Greenheart based on the great reviews for a quote on my yard remodel where I was planning to install about 2K sq ft of turf. The gentleman showed up late for the appointment for the estimate and proceeded to tell me my design ideas weren't great and then did his own thing despite my requests for specific design. Part way through the appointment he stopped to sit down on my back porch and take a telephone appt with a doctors office. He indicated I would receive my quote that evening and I never heard another peep (no quote, call etc) until he called me over a month later to see if I still needed the quote. By then I had already hired another company and they had already completed the entire project. read more

After talking about what our wishes were, Mike said I would receive a follow up quote within "a week or so". I did not hear anything so I reached out again and was told by Mike that they were really backed up and Irene hired a new office manager and a rendering and quote would be emailed the following day. That never happened. They are completely unreliable. Don't waste your time or money on a company who clearly has no interest in prospective clients. read more

We thoroughly enjoyed working with Irene and her crew. They arrived on time every day, worked until the job was done and were very accommodating. They wanted to make sure we were happy every step of the way. They completed 2 projects for us. The first being our front courtyard. We wanted it to feel cozy and welcoming, like a front porch back east. They removed the sidewalk and gravel and replaced the whole area with pavers. They even worked a drip system in so that I could have my potted plants maintained with little effort. It definitely made a difference and it gives us another place to sit and visit. The second project was our back yard. We have 2 large trees that provide a lot of shade, which is great except when it comes to grass. The grass just struggled to survive without enough light. So, we had them extend our paved area a bit, rework the paved border, freshen up the gravel and add artificial turf. It made all the difference for us. Be careful with this group. sometimes great work and sometimes rushed. the rush has cost me thousands in a water leak i didn't know about for 6 months. they had a water leveler that was higher than a hole for a cord. yes. that really happened. Irene was rarely out to check on details . i was more a project manager than her. and of course i had to tell her what was not done so i wouldn't be charged. sloppy. very disappointed. i have taken on extra work just to pay for my water bill and to undo the plumbing they messed up. if you can project manage then great, otherwise watch out. wrong colored pavers they refused to fix. my friends think it's ridiculous that they didn't 'see it'. so disappointed. read more

I have lived in my house for many years and have always been dissatisfied with my landscaping. I finally decided to do something about it when my neighbor pointed out damage in his garage from overspray from my irrigation. After requesting an estimate from Greenheart, I received a visit from Mike Dzinglewski, a design consultant who works with Irene. He suggested ideas for resolving my overspray problem. And he also walked around the yard, pointing out other things. A drainage problem that caused my garage to flood in storms. A bare concrete patio that could be covered with pavers. A walkway to the gate, again with pavers. A muddy area near the AC that could be filled with plants and gravel. Suddenly I saw the opportunity to solve problems that irritated me for years. Mike didn't just suggest plants. He took me to the nursery and showed me the plants he recommended. I have a lot of shade, and plants always seem to be marked "full sun." Many of those plants will do fine in shade. Mike knows which ones they are. He is also big on pots, boulders and mounds, which he insists be shaped just so. I ended up with a good deal of masonry work, performed by Irene's crew. I was blown away by the quality of their work. The pavers come in several sizes. Irene's crew laid them out in beautiful patterns. The crew was always friendly and helpful -- really nice guys to deal with. In a matter of a week, my yard was transformed from blah to WOW! I had tried for years to solve problems. That didn't work because I know so little about the details of landscaping. Having a designer like Mike suggest solutions was a godsend. People often have mediocre landscaping because they don't know what is possible. A good designer like Mike can really turn things around. I had tried to do my own designing, but I needed guidance. Maybe you do, too. You wouldn't do your own brain surgery, would you? Irene runs a tight ship. Top to bottom, her people know what they are doing. Spend some money with her. We recently hired Greenheart Landscapes to spruce up our back yard from dead grass to turf and enlarge patio. They were great. We are snowbirds and knew we wanted something done by Thanksgiving so began researching early October from our home in Indiana. We set up 4 appointments for the week we arrived in Phoenix. Greenheart was the first we contacted via email for a quote. They called right away and scheduled appointment for the day after we arrived here. Irene the owner herself came and immediately understood what we wanted. Her responsiveness and arrival with turf samples, suggestions for us, were on spot and we were very impressed. And she said she could get us done by the holiday if we didn't mind crews working all weekend. The next appt. called to change the time till following week , so nope, crossed them off. The next was due at 6a.m. a few days after Greenheart was here. My husband was up waiting in the dark for a no show, so down two. The third while told we wanted to discuss turf and pavers for patio, sent someone who only measured for turf and knew nothing of pavers or design. Owner called apologized and wanted to come in next few days. In meantime Irene called and had a cancellation and could begin project that Monday. Done, no need to look further. Quotes were written, some corrections and adjustments but crew arrived Monday. There only snafu was the dumpster did not arrive till end of day, out of their control. Without dumpster only so much could be done on day one. But they were back at it Tuesday and project finished in 4 days as promised. Lawn and new patio pavers look great . Best of all no more hot days on knees weeding and trying to get winter grass going. Very happy and highly recommend Irene and Greenheart Landscapes. read more
