UPDATE (1/3/24): - First of all, thank you Hazel for reaching out and helping rectify the issues I had. I had only wished that you were a part of the project from the beginning (this was a project that started in August). That being said, I still have to consider my whole experience with GreenCal in my review. A professional painting crew was sent out to clean up and repaint the soffits. Additionally, Hazel came out with a crew to repaint the roof vents. So far the roof seems to be holding up even through the past rain events we've experienced. There have been a decent amount of shingle granules that have come down though (probably normal), but I haven't noticed any leaks in the ceiling. However, I have yet to go into the attic to take a look. Thank you again Hazel for your improved communication and kind gesture. It was definitely unnecessary. --------------- I chose GreenCal over another company that gave me a lower quote because I thought they would be more professional. Boy was I wrong...there communication is horrible! They could not tell me when the roofing project was going to start, when the trash bin would show up (and when it would be removed - it was on my property for 2 weeks), or what was the agenda each day as the project progressed. I also chose GreenCal because it seemed that the quality of their materials was better than the other company but that doesn't matter if the craftsmanship that goes into the job is terrible. They didn't put any thought into the length of the nails chose to secure they shingles and the nails ended up popping out of the starter boards everywhere around the house (see pics). Then they did a sad job of trying to clip all the nail extensions off and covering them with primer. The starter boards and the newly installed vents were also poorly spray painted with spray cans. There was uneven coverage and paint all over the shingles like a 5 year old did it. The only silver lining in all of it was their newly hired project manager Javier who sided with me on many of the issues. However the company had him stuck on another project far away and he never actually came by when the work was done (only after the fact). It hasn't rained hard yet so we'll see what the results of their work will be in the upcoming months. I'll make an update to this review then. read more

I recently had my roof refinished. A representative from GreenCal contractors stopped by and we had a conversation about the condition of my roof and the repair options available. I decided to take a chance on GreenCal, as I have had a few estimates provided in the past. GreenCal was very competitive and as I said, we ultimately selected them. Their work was top-notch. They ripped off the old roof, which I didn't know was actually three roofs and cleaned up everything on a daily basis. And when I say cleaned up, I don't mean a cursory clean, I mean, cleaned up use a blower and when they left for the evening, the place was pristine. The work was done in a timely manner. The communications with GreenCal was phenomenal. They lived up to what they said they were going to do and more. At the conclusion of all of this their social media representative Gabrielle asked to come by and photograph my completed roof. I was delighted to accommodate GreenCal and Gabrielle because I am very pleased at the results. Gabrielle also promised to provide me with copies of what she photographs so that I can have a record. All in all, I can tell you that the value was through the roof the cost amazing and the finished product more than I expected. If you are contemplating a roof replacement, it would be who view to investigate GreenCal contractors. I 41 fuel that you would be missing out if you didn't contact them. read more

First, Yelp somehow messed up and created an account for me with a negative review that I cannot edit or remove. No customer service from Yelp for consumers. GreenCal provided painting service for my home that required some repaint work awhile later. Work was redone but needed more later. Turns out the primer supplied to GreenCal was defective or something. Regardless of the reason, one of the owners came out to look and next thing I know painters are out fixing the work. Customer service has been great with follow-ups. The review from "Mike J" is inaccurate and should be discarded. I do recommend GreenCal. read more

We had a new roof installed earlier this year with some issues. We had started the process shortly after the heavy rains that caused an understandable delay in the start of our project with the influx of people in the area needing roof repairs. We started to see an issue when there was a lack of communication during the timeline of our project. We were not told when workers were going to return or even if they were to return. I had to contact the office many times to get updates since my project manager was not communicating or even showing up to the worksite. After making more than a needed effort to contact someone in the office about our project, I spoke with John who was supposed to be our production manager. I told him that I had concerns about the finalization of the roof and some areas that looked unfinished. I told him that even though the unfinished areas where not considered part of the roof I would like an estimate so we could have them repaired. I got nothing after that day. In fact I had no idea my project was completed until I received a phone call from the finance company saying that my project completed. Fast forward to a few weeks ago when I heard scratching inside my attic. I had rodents in my attic which should not have been a problem since I have Rodent Stop and the new roof. I called Rodent Stop to come out and check my home for any new holes from the new roof that was installed. They found a massive hole that was left by the roofers out of our view and we were not even notified. Even if this was not covered by the new roof, why would they not inform us of the extra work even after I told them I wanted an estimate of any additional repairs that was not part roofing contract? I tried several times to contact the company but I was ghosted as I see others have been based on the posted reviews. I'm attaching a photo of the gaping hole large enough for a small dog to crawl into not even addressing the fact the the elements can get into the roof and damage it. Now I have to find another company to try and patch up the areas of the house exterior that were left unfinished. I'm greatly disappointed with the lack of communication from this company even though I was understanding they could have been busy at the time of our project. Went with them because they were competitively priced and seemed professional. Work started pretty close to expected and the majority of the work was done in a reasonable time. There were issues that did take come up after the main roof install was complete and at first the site manage addressed some of the issues and had the crew correct it. but things were still off. They had white paint foot prints on my grey shingles, and they choose to fix the issue using black spray paint. They had some chemical spill on my street right Infront of my house leaving a stain nearly 1 year later. They also used the incorrect shingles on all corners of my house. I am not sure if that is normal or not but it didn't look right. The worst part was actually the lack of response when trying to get the issues fixed. I emailed and called at least 15 times of the course of 4 months and the most of a response i got back was, "Someone will give you a call tomorrow" but the call never came. We had our roof done by GreenCal in December of 2023. The crew beat the hell out of the flashing and just put it back on. After many calls back and forth with Hazel, they replaced most of it. Then Hazel just stopped responding. During the recent rains we found a leak in our closet. They came out and said it was due the bent flashing (that they messed up and didn't replace). They caulked around it and left. I asked the office manager Crystal about painting the ceiling of the closet (water stains) and she said that I signed a document saying I didn't want any painting done. That was a lie and when I told her so, she said she would speak with Hazel and get back to me. This was on Feb 6. I reached out to Crystal yesterday who said she has been in a meeting and she would get back to me. Crickets. I had referred this company to my neighbor and they had leaks that they never had before. Juan came and fixed them and came by yesterday to check on the roof. My neighbor mentioned my issue with the office and Juan said he would take care of it. Thankfully. Their customer service is AWFUL. I do NOT recommend this company. read more

We felt very comfortable as he was down to earth honest and forthcoming feeling confident moving forward with their company's competitive final cost agreement. The roofers are excellent; they perform quality work and are respectful. However, the office staff makes the process unnecessarily difficult. We were initially quoted an increase by Eddie of $1,000 to $3,000 for the roof. When the actual cost rose to $3,000 to $6,000, they failed to provide images of the additional work despite repeated requests. I paid $4k extra and the neighbor paid $5,700. Both over the 3k worst case scenario we were told. Crystal Casillas was rude and generally unpleasant to deal with. Despite the fact that I am the homeowner I was told they only communicate with the president of the HOA although we had separate contracts for each individual home. read more

Yes, the job is complete everything has passed inspection. I was promised CO2 and smoke detectors that were never followed up on. I did talk to management, and they understand the main issue was lack of on-site management during the project. Green Cal did assure me they were working on it. My only concern is as a customer you need to make sure they communicate with you on project status. read more

IF YOU WANT ROOF LEAKS WHERE YOU PREVOUSLY DIDN'T... HIRE GREENCAL! I had GreenCal come out and install new roofing with iso board because the bedroom underneath was getting too hot during the summer. Before they installed roofing, no roof leaking issues, NOW I SUDDENLY HAVE OVER 5 SEPARATE leaks and they tell me it's the siding (I do have old siding) but I have no leaks near the siding and it only leaks under the area they did work. The project manager who handled my job is no long with the company. I have had 4 other roofers come and inspect the roof telling me they used the wrong material based on the pitch of my roof. All the other roofers advised I contacted the contractors licensing board, so that's what I'm doing after this review. Beware before you hire Greencal. I hired GreenCal for stucco repair and paint on a 1.5 story house/retaining walls/separate garage, fascia repair and paint, and gutter installation. Of the five bids I requested, they were the only company who showed up on time, was able to do all the work, AND provided a reasonable quote. Their customer service was topnotch from the start. I was always able reach someone by phone or text (especially Crystal, who deserves a major shout-out for her professionalism and responsiveness), they were responsive to my questions, and when I had to delay the work for several months due to a personal emergency, they scheduled me within a week when I finally called to get on the calendar. The stucco crew - especially the foreman Carlos - were outgoing and professional and showed up on time, and I had absolutely no complaints with any of the work done from start to finish. After a recent nightmare kitchen remodel, I was even more appreciative of all of these things than I might have otherwise been. They also went the extra mile, doing some work that wasn't part of the original bid (like re-installing my security cams). Once it was time for the gutter installation, the team was amazing! Friendly group of guys, working so fast that when I came outside after the first 15 or 20 minutes, the first gutter and downspout were already installed, and by the time they finished about three hours later, it was obvious that quality had in no way been sacrificed for speed. The lead, Raul, explained everything to me thoroughly despite the speed, ensuring I was aware of and happy with gutter placement (which I am). Both work crews cleaned up each day and at the end of their respective projects, going so far in the former case to pressure wash my porch, patio, and entry path to ensure not a drop of paint splatter was still present. Timothy was my project manager, and he was an absolute DELIGHT to work with. He was on site nearly daily, super responsive via text and phone, and never seemed rushed or disengaged; although I know I couldn't have been his only client, he certainly made me feel as though I was. It's also worth pointing out that he also gave me what turned out to be EXTREMELY good advice on my paint colors, steering me away from my original choice that would've been a disaster. He had originally respectfully avoided giving counsel when I asked, indicating he always wants the customer to get what they want without his personal opinion, but after two visits I finally pushed him hard enough that he was honest with me, and I couldn't be more pleased with the results of heeding his advice. No "regrats". :) I have to say that of the four major projects I've done on my home, Tim was hands-down the best project manager I've ever worked with, and if I thought he could lead every future project I have, I'd be happy to have him on board. All in all, I would recommend GreenCal to anyone without any hesitation whatsoever. I couldn't be more pleased with the process from start to end result. read more

Massoud who did the appraisal was very professional and answered all my questions. I chose GreenCal because their pricing was I believed to be fair for my size of my roof. I signed the contract to start work on my roof and then met Juan. He was very upfront on What type of work would be needed to prep my roof. Anytime I had any questions or doubts, He was quick to answer them. Tony, who is another employee for the company responded and helped out with the inspection. He also answered all my questions and explained to me things I was unaware of. All the workers were very professional and respectful of me and all my other relatives inside the home. Once the job was completed, Juan returned and did the final inspection. There were some parts of the roof he felt were not up to the standards of the company. I had refrained from leaving this review for a couple of years thinking that their workmanship warranty would be honored however they did not honor their work. I had hired them to redo a flat part of my roof that had leaks and they indicated that they had installed a waterproof vinyl sheet under the roof which would prevent any future leaks. Fast forward to the rainy season the last couple of years and there were significant leaks seen. I reached out to them to see if they could remedy the situation and after inspecting the job they said that they had installed a water resistant sheet and had really no guarantee in preventing leaks. That absolutely makes no sense especially coming from a roofing company. I then had to reach out to a separate company for the repair in which they said the original job was poorly done, where several small sheets of roofing material was blowtorched together instead of just using one large sheet of roof and cutting it to make it fit. I would think twice about using this company as they do not honor their warranty and would rather go through legal proceedings rather than finish their job correctly. read more

The whole install took about 5 hours, and the installed door looks great. They even managed to hideaway an annoyingly visible wire from our Ring doorbell. I hired Greencal Construction to do a complete remodel of the front of my home and do some stucco repair in the back of the house. We went with using Hardie Board in Elegent Red and Honey Gold Stone. The project came out beautiful and we couldn't be more pleased with the results. A word of caution about getting material in this pandemic Feb, 2021. It's possible that you might have a several week lag time in getting the materials you want. Be aware of that during these difficult times. Our entire experience with GreenCal Construction was a pleasure. I put out a request for stucco repair through Yelp, and they got right back to me. Theirs was the 3rd estimate and was by far the most thorough and professional. we appreciated seeing the evidence of insurance and worker's comp as the prior construction team we had did not provide any of this. We let them know that their estimate was in the middle of the other two, but neither of the other companies offered a 50 year guarantee on the paint. The special paint used will also reduce heat in our home and the color wheel had every color imaginable. The guys started a few days later and did a fantastic prep job which included water blasting the entire house, stucco repair and taping off windows, etc. By day 3 they were painting and were finished by day 5. We are thrilled with their attention to detail and the finished product! Five Stars all the way! read more

We had our home painted, our front porch railing rebuilt, and our windows replaced by GreenCal Construction. From the start of the project to the completion, they were professional, on time, and did beautiful work. All our questions were answered, the workmanship was fantastic, and the people just a pleasure to work with. From the craftsman that did our windows, to the painters/stucco'ers, to Hazel who came out to make sure the job was done right and we were satisfied, it all went so smoothly. Even with the COVID-19 pandemic that put a halt to the project, right in the middle, after a couple weeks of downtime, we got the call that they were ready to do the installation. All workers were masked and given that we work from home, we just really appreciated that. Unfortunately, I can't really speak to the quality of their work, as things never got that far. I had them come out to give me a quote on a roof replacement and stucco work on my place and a roof replacement on my mom's house. It all started out well enough. The reps came out... Eddie, I think.. took measurements and checked around. He said he would get me the a quote for the roofs in a couple of days, but the stucco would take a bit longer. Fair enough. Fast forward about two weeks and no bids. I called in and was told they'd have the rep send me the quote.... nothing. I called once more with the same result. So some more time passes and I get a call from someone. I can't remember his name, but I think he said he was a manager. He asked if I'd looked over the quote and wanted to work with them. I kinda chucked and said that I still hadn't received anything. He said he'd look into it and have the rep send me the quote. Guess what... Yup! Still nothing! More time passes and the same guy calls me and asked if I had received the bid. Nope. Surprisingly enough, at this point I still hadn't completely written them off. The rep said he had another project going on locally and could tack on my project to get me a discount and could send another rep out to go over numbers. Nice sales tactic, but by this point I just want them to send me the original bid. He said he would send it to me... again, nothing. I would think giving numbers is pretty easy and if the company can't come though when trying to get a job, I can't imagine how they would be after getting the job.
