Being an aunt is fun because you end up doing things you used to do when you were younger. I hadn't been inside a library, at least a public one, for a long time. I brought my niece to Green Valley Library so we could maybe read a couple of books and hang out. The parking is a bit of a walk, not far, but it can be a bit challenging if you have kids or elderly with you. Luckily my niece ran with me so we made it safely across to the front and we were ready for our adventure. When you walk into Green Valley Library you're hit with a huge ceiling and you see a couple of employment agencies for people. That was pretty neat, it was set aside from the library, and it had chairs and benches for people who needed that service, and there is also a little stand where their security is guarding the area. The library in general is pretty small! However, the children's section is setup in its own little area; the bathrooms are within parents' eye view, and there's also a water fountain if that's your fancy. They have plenty of chairs and tables for families to do their homework, some writing/drawing and coloring. Green Valley has a sign on the tables that say you can enjoy coloring, snd they provide you crayons, but no paper or sheets! So if you're looking to do that, try not to forget those items. We were able to grab some scratch paper by their computers- and we made it work! We still had a great time. Their play area is small, and the toys are very basic. They have little chairs for your kids so it was cute seeing my niece have so much fun in her own little space. We read a book, and she had the best time browsing choosing out what she wanted to read. Overall it's a great little library for your kids if you need somewhere to study. I felt like a kid agains it was quiet, full of books and smelled like books! The older section also has a study pod that the librarians can help you use if you need it, which I thought was super neat and modern. Oh, you also check your books out electronically! This place was just a treat for me! I'm sure my niece had fun too, but if you're in the area, stop by! read more

The Green Valley Library is spacious, orderly, and well-staffed. I brought my baby cousin to enjoy the kids area. He is non-verbal so we did our best to explore. He shouts and does not socialize with other children, but I think he really enjoyed himself. We were able to play in the kids area for about 20 minutes which was great and I tried to read to him. He seemed to enjoy himself. We were also able to color and check out the check out the toys. read more

Yes, this is your average library on corner of Sunset Rd. in a good part of Green Valley neighborhood in Henderson, NV. I am a fan of book reading and reviews. Libraries and bookstores are my favorite places to go to when I have the time to read, so I'm usually hunting for unique places to sit in a quiet surrounding. Surprisingly, the parking lot is not on busy Sunset, but just around the corner intersection. Average parking lot. Huge old book bin is still outside for you to return books. These days, most libraries have automated return processes. The library was actually much smaller than expected. Public restrooms are also not huge. It's down the art gallery hallway. Old building. Old school feeling. Noise levels are noticeable. Small areas to sit and not many computers or desks. There's a business center or employment center in same building which operates separately, but that's where you will find the most tables and chairs. Book areas felt cramped up or congested because it's not spacious inside. Narrow entrance area too. Books for sale shelf was small. It's really your average local library and nothing fancy here. I usually just check out community postings and the activity calendar. City of Henderson is beautiful, so they should put more investments into their public libraries. Art galleries and free music events always keep me curious and coming back to libraries. Artworks are always beautiful to appreciate. read more

This is an okay library. The book selection is very limited, I specifically wanted to look for real estate books or habits books. Luckily, there are audio books so I will definitely be looking into it. The staff were very nice and helpful with getting a library card. The only reason I am giving it 3 stars is because it is noisy and there is a lot of homeless who are loud and eating. I do see that the staff tries their best to keep the noise and eating to a minimum, however, sometimes they don't listen. The entrance also reeks of urine, the smell goes away once you're inside. read more

I came into use the computer and table later and noticed a lady came to snack on something hearing her crunch on her food and grabbing it from her paper container where she's sitting behind a computer looking at her device the whole time. Really? I mentioned to the front desk but nothing seem to come of it especially if someone wants to use the computer and that person is filling up space not using the computer there which is not fair to everyone else! read more

Nice and clean once you walk in once you're there. Small library not much on educational books (Algebra, chemistry, trigonometry) or I actually didn't see none more fiction and non-fiction as I go to the find a seat to study using MY RESOURCES I'm walking by the computer area it stinks like hermits (homeless tweakers) they not using the computer for education or job seeking just to watch movies YouTube or other abomination. Once I sat the 7 minutes later the tweakers sitting by the wall started giggling talking to himself and sniffing then a couple across kept talking about Walmart it's up the street and their convo went to a small argument like keep it down so my event as a first timer I'm not returning I see nothing but a shallow tomb at Green Valley Library in HENDERSON I will travel to Sunrise Library where it is peaceful a good selection of education books, a anime area, and no bums or tweakers. Nice library located off of Green Valley at Sunset road. Very clean. And surprisingly small compared to other libraries I've been to. Anyone with a Nevada ID can get a library card here. Use your card to check out books , movies , get on the computer , get copies , etc etc. You can print things from the computer but there is a charge for each paper. Same thing goes for copies. Overall its a great library. One of my new favorite spots that I'll be visiting often. read more

Loud and small. More like a zoo than a library. Don't bother if you need to study. Some Lady sat next to me in the study section teaching a kid to read for an hour at full volume. Even the guards couldn't get her to shut up. I was soo happy someone complained. She looked at me confused, I was in a Hawaiian shirt. Karen in the making it seemed. Completely ruined my day. They could have been in the child section but rather annoy the adults. At library and leaving way way early because my ears hurt, I had to play music soo loud to drown her out. Don't come here. Try somewhere else. Study at rock concern, or enjoy your favorite book at a nascar race. read more

It's very clean and less than 10 minutes from where I live. Easy to get to. The entrance is a little hidden and I parked in the wrong place and had to walk around. Normally that wouldn't be a big deal, I'm not that lazy, but I need knee surgery. Employees are super friendly and extremely helpful. I had to get a new library card since mine expired and it took only minutes. I wasn't sure how the computers worked to print off of it and she explained it perfectly. The whole visit was probably half an hour or so. The computers were clean and very nice. I definitely will go to this library again. I was very impressed. The second library that I've visited in Vegas. The other is a Clark County one in Sunrise Manor. In comparison, this one seems to have more programs available. During this visit, there was a book sale going on. I noticed there were little cubicles in the middle of their lobby area which looked like job placement assistance services. I didn't see many computers for public use except for the ones in the children's section, but I didn't really explore the rest of the library apart from the children's side. There weren't as many desks and seating or reading areas as I'm used to seeing at the other library we visit but I did notice there was someone wiping down all the toys and seats in the kids section with antibacterial wipes. I appreciate that very much! The restrooms in the kids section are single and not gender neutral, they're also tidy and clean. read more

As I write this review on April Fools Weekend, I am not joking that the Green Valley Library is a good library. The Green Valley Library is one of the Three major City of Henderson public libraries. My relationship with the Green Valley Public Library dates back to over a decade, when I moved to Henderson in September, 2004. Back then when I carried a soap bar Nokia cell phone, this was a Las Vegas - Clark County Library system branch. Today when I look at the architecture, it hasn't changed from 2004. Las Vegas is known for the interesting architecture of their libraries. Approaching 12 years since I first laid eyes on it, the outside is just as striking. Standing at the southwest corner of Sunset at Green Valley, is the statues of three people playing. Near the statue, the walkway leads to a long structure resembling a long snake. I remember that belond the snake used to be a Chili's. Now it overlooks the three bear statues guarding Black Bear Diner. Inside the library has changing art work that creates an interesting environment. Last year the hall by the computer room and convention center was covered with Kiss memorbelia. Today, there is an Illy Coffee robot and display case of Batman memorbelia. When I visit the library, it's not what is in the inside of the library that makes the difference. It is what is inside my head. I visit the library to borrow books that enrich my mind; and CDs and DVDs for entertainment. This library has a good selection of books on music, history, and non fiction. Just like the sister Henderson libraries, the nonfiction sections features an outstanding selection of biographies. On the other hand, their weakness is their few new non-fiction books. Being a Yelper, I enjoy trying new restaurants and exploring new kinds of food. I carry this philosophy with music. The CD selection fulfills my appetite in exploring new music, experiencing new sounds from different artists. Their CDs range from the Eagles "Hotel California" to Billy Joel "An Innocent Man." Out of the three major Henderson libraries, this has the ultimate CD selection. What I really enjoy about this library besides the fact that I live nearby is that unlike the Clark County Library system, I don't have to drive across the Valley if I badly want a book, CD, or DVD. For example, last week I badly wanted to borrow "The History of the Eagles" DVD. If I was using the Clark County Library system, I'd have to drive to Spring Valley or Centennial Hills. On the other hand, this library had it. If it didn't, the furthest branch would be the Gibson library a few miles away. Another thing I notice is that when a book is in heavy demand in the Clark County Library system, it could be available here which was the case with the David Bowie biographies. The library is state-of-the-art. To check out a book you scan your card and tadah it's ready to check out. That is unless your charges exceed $6. When I hang out in this library, there is a perception that beverages are allowed inside. When I walk inside the lobby, a Coke machine greets me. The sign says "No alcohol, No drugs, No Guns..." but nothing prohibiting beverages. This library is no joke. However, it's hours are a joke. Because a major metropolitan library is closed on Sundays and Mondays, I am deducting a star. In my opinion, libraries are important community centers that need to be open every day into the late hours. This is the closest library to my house. I will be returning a pile of material soon. It is guaranteed that I will be returning to the Green Valley Library in the very near future. read more

Small but great for not being crowded. Loved the atmosphere and the workers were excellent.

I really like this location. They have a great selection of audiobooks, including a lot of new CDs. The service desk is always really friendly, and super efficient. If you forget your library card, and have to key the number manually, the computer screen is a bit tempermental. So I recommend not forgetting your card :) The main downside to this location is their hours. They are closed Sunday and Monday both. read more

This is a somewhat small but nice library; it seems to be frequented mainly by older folks but as such is a more comfortable studying ground than some other libraries which have more homeless people (e.g. Spring Valley). Vegas residents can register and get access to most services. They have a bit more in the way of books that I am interested in than does the Vegas library system. And it is by a Trader Joe's--win win. read more

So small for such a location. I like the YPL department a lot, but find the rest a bit on the smallish side. This actually isn't as bad to get to as some and I find the snakey-thing out front reminiscent of Indian burial mounds, but done by kids for kids. Still, I like it. Funny how they still refer to this as a Henderson library. Let's be real, it's Green Valley, no matter how you try and skew the demographics. If you lived on Water Street, would you be going here? Of course not. If this place were twice as big, I think it would have deserved more stars. But, corner lot, not much room for that kind of thing. Let's be honest. . .I've never met a place full of books that I didn't like. This was an easy 5 star rating for me. I haven't been to any of the other locations that make up the "Henderson Libraries," but sticking with the Green Valley location would be fine by me. This is the second time I visited, with the first time being when I signed up for my library card. The sign up process was fairly simple. . .I just had to sit down at a computer and fill in some basic information (name, address, email, etc.) and then show proof of ID to obtain my card. I don't have a Nevada license yet. . .so be sure to bring a proof of residence if this is your case too. I really haven't found any negatives about this library so far, so here are just a few things I love about it: -Self check-out style. This is awesome! You just go up to the little computer check out center and check your books out yourself. There is detailed instructions on what to do, but it really isn't hard to figure out. I'm not sure if all libraries have implemented this process, but they definitely should. -35 item rental limit. I would never need to check out 35 items, but I really like the fact that this number is so high! - Drive up dropbox. The drive up drop box makes returning items so much easier! - Long check out times. I don't remember the exact amount of time they allow for check out, but it's around 3-4 weeks which is great! Plenty of time to read your books or watch your movies without feeling rushed. So glad I got a {free!} library card and I will definitely be a constant presence in this library! read more

Nice library to get my school work done. They have good free WiFi service and clean restroom as well. Some patrons are just not quite understanding the "quiet reading zone" posted there because I needed to kindly ask the people behind me to tone their voice down a little, other than that the staff are helpful and there are some vending machine available for drinks and snacks. read more

There is a nice, albeit small selection of books here, however, you can order books from other local libraries to pick up here, which is convenient. It's clean and organized. So if that's all you need to know, get to it. Unfortunately the kids area is very small and the white haired gentlewoman that works there got mad at our kids for being too loud and yelled at us all, which I found pretty disturbing, as the kids present were two, three, and four years old. I confronted her afterwards to suggest giving a warning the next time she felt someone was getting too loud. She said she gave two warnings, but none of the adults present were aware of those warnings so maybe she told the children. I feel a little bad for her, I think kids stress her out, but I am definitely not going back to this library and neither are any of the families that were there--it was just one of those experiences that leaves you feeling bad about things. My honest review, this is not a library for kids, which is so sad to me because libraries + kids has been a beautiful thing for our fam! All the other libraries we've tried here have been great for our kids, though, so check those out! read more

In addition to a brain, training, and lots of patience, a table is an essential ingredient in tutoring. And, if it is not too much, some plugs for laptops. i am old enough to remember when this library was built and I know it was before technology was as big as it is now. My favorite of all the henderson libraries! I love the staff especially Andrea from the kids section :) I love all the different programs they offer like lil yogis and bi-lingual story time. Such a great selection of foreign language books for children. Its also in a great location,I usually like to run errands in that area as well whenever I take my little ones to one of the programs. read more

Even though this library seems smaller and smaller everytime I visit (or maybe I just get bigger and bigger, but I refuse to believe that), it still is a beautiful library and a great way to spend an afternoon. The kids section comes fully stocked with great story books and bean bag chairs all around. I like to grab my book from the "big girl" side, and then hang in the little tyke section...much cozier. The GV library is also a nice place for UNLV students to study without all of the chaos of Lied Library. They offer a nice reference section as well. My only compaint is the lack of computer space and actual computers to use. It is a smaller library, I know, but still, a few more computers would make a world of difference. So my suggestion is to bring your own laptop. And longer hours of operation would be nice too...but I am still thankful to have a library in this area! read more

The GVL is a great place for locals to visit. My favorite parts are the rare-book sales located in the glass cabinets, the frequent used-book sales and the artwork lining the walls leading to the computer lab. In the back, one can find public announcements including some open employment positions and their long-needed renovated bathrooms. The used books are random and varied. They are priced very reasonably since they are rare and hard to find items. The most recent one I coveted was a book written by one of Freud's family members. The other scores are issues of National Geographic being sold for less than a buck. One I picked up was from the early 80's and outlined the development of Silicon Valley up to that period. Fascinating. If you get a chance to visit the tin-can robot across from the bathrooms, I highly suggest it. I believe Kevin is the manager and should be able to help with any needs. Great place for hosting meetings. Our group has been going there for nearly five years. read more

Self checkout your books. Nice large computer lab. You can make copies from your computer to the copy machine by pre loading your library card with cash. All great things. Staff is very patient and friendly. Very clean and very quiet. Great place to read, get homework done. I haven't seen a schedule but they have classes and meetings of different topics. read more

If you ever wonder where the homeless are during the day all you have to do is visit any public library. This is just a hangout for the homeless. I honestly cannot read a book with the scent of bad hygiene permeating through the air. I know they cannot kick them out, but come on. Is this where my tax dollars are going? Privatize libraries or make patrons sign up for a membership with a nominal yearly fee. The homeless ruin libraries for the people who are actually there for a purpose. Now to the library, small but quaint, not enough power outlets (if the homeless don't already have them taken with their laptops/cellphones), not enough tables, friendly staff. TOO MANY HOMELESS. I live on the East side of Las Vegas and although there are Clark County Las Vegas libraries closer to where I live I prefer to go here to study and get some school work done. It's not the biggest library out there and I agree the collection is not as big as LVCCLD but this library is a great alternative if you want to avoid the craziness of a bigger library. read more

We just have experience with the kids room and story time but love it! The little play area is nice for little ones to play while not worrying they will escape. Story time is always fun too. I like that they play music on a CD player and don't just sing the songs. read more

This library was recently bought by the Henderson Library District and renovated, for the better in most ways. They added a computer lab, which was definitely needed. They added some couches in the front, and while their collection is a little smaller than LVCCLD's was, I think it fits the building better. read more
