I came into this library to renew my library card that I let lapse in the pandemic and to get away from some noisiness in my house and read a little. I was able to easily renew my card, even though it had been so long that my info wasn't even in the system anymore. Waiting in that line was a bit of a bummer, it took a long time but I wasn't expecting swift customer service at the library. The selection here seemed alright, but it is a smaller library. I didn't stay for very long because every single table was taken and there was absolutely more talking and noise in here than at my home. I know quiet conversation is allowed but there are no dedicated quiet zones here. read more

My favorite library! Now that my son is going to pre-k- I take my daughter there. And she is just like her brother- loving her story time. Love love love miss Nicole!! Been going to this library since I was on that end of town and it's been twice asking for refund of all the copies I didn't get just because their bad copier machine states 'can't release copy due to network issue' or something else, which was told first time they saw this. Even their color copies have increased where now as I've been trying to get copies from Henderson Libraries that it cost me more same as running out of cartridge at home. Where does all their monies go when paying their machines, even with the increase to the color copy. I even suggested to have coin operated copier, like Office Depot, so don't have to all the time go up the desk to get exact number and half the time their copier don't work right. No wonder I spent so much on using their machines. Does their IT know how to make things convenient for the customers who uses the service there? It seem like when I bring that up, nothing changes at all. read more

Great library great staff they helped me out with everything I needed and were very knowledgeable.

The Rhythm and Rhyme story time was led well with a fun and engaging plan for 0-5. The teacher even explained appropriate story time rules of the class well. My major problem began when I was searching for books for my 8 and 5 yo with them about 25 feet behind me at a coloring table along with my 2yo. The issue according to the security personnel that began harassing me is that their policy states I have to be with my children at all times whom are under the age of 10. I think this could be a great suggestion but should not be a demand on my parenting decisions. My 8 yo was doing a sufficient job of watching over the 5yo and 2 yo while I was a short distance away. The security personnel kept harassing me that I need to be with them at all times. Since it is impossible for me to search and find books for our children and be directly with all 3 of my children constantly, I asked for a manager to see this written policy. Turns out they really expect this! This library location is more concerned about following a policy that excludes parents with multiple young children than serving their community in providing accessible literature to our younger generation. The board members need to revise or completely delete this policy ASAP to be community helpers that make it easier for our younger civilians to access reading materials not more difficult. Just an hour later that day a friend observed many young children without a guardian present and those families did not receive this very poor and biased treatment. Not sure what that is about but this is not acceptable behavior from our library "community helpers". read more

Friendly helpful and considerate. I just moved here and love going to libraries. This one was especially pleasant.

The library itself is very nice. We frequent a few other libraries in the green valley area and love going to the -kids classes and story times during the summer months - Never have I been told parents can't watch the class, until now, at this particular library- This 6/14/24 day we waited an hour for story time to start at 2:00 pm - once we had our ticket we walked over and as we were walking into the program room the woman teaching the class abruptly stopped us and said "no parents allowed"- I asked if I could watch my daughter attend class as she's never been to this location and she was obviously the youngest one in the class that day- her response was "these are school aged kids, you should be able to drop me them off by now- no parents in the room at all" it was rude, and uncalled for. Needless to say my daughter was upset, as was I. The insensitive nature and blatant disregard for a little girls feelings were apparent - We won't return to this location. read more

Library staff are old and need training. Homeless people lurking everywhere. You can't read or work here because of the noise and smell so I had to leave. The calls they make in the center there that helps people with resources (welfare, housing, etc) are so loud that everyone in the library can hear how rough of a time that particular person is having. That should be kept private for the sake of whomever is down on their luck. Security guard (woman) flirted with the homeless men who sat in the library all day. I only visit this library because it's closest to home. They don't seem to have the variety of books the other libraries in Henderson have and if they do they're always out. It's a good place to come to teach children how to use the library, look up books and even check out books. My daughter has found numerous book series that she ends up loving. They also have a descent assortment of dvds to check out. They have little pencils and paper to jot down where to find the book you're looking for. The kiddie area is a bit worn but kids don't mind. It's always so nice a cool to come here in the summer when it's so hot out. They're not open Monday's. read more

We frequent all the libraries in Henderson and have enjoyed the services they all provide. I like this location because it is is smaller and very simply laid out. It's easy for my kids of various ages to each go to their designated areas to find what they need. As a parent I like how I can sit centrally and still keep an eye on my teen, and smaller children. The staff are always so friendly and very helpful. There are always different activities for the kids to participate in without having to shown up for classless. My kids enjoy coloring, playing games and making the cube crafts. Having a computer in the kids area that parents can use also comes in handy. I've seen several parents using the computer while still interacting with their kids. In some other libraries the adult computers are not located near the kids area. Having one near the kids creates a less hectic and more enjoyable environment for all of us ! It's always clean,and well organized. The restrooms are easy to find and clean as well. Security, is quick professional and helpful. There is plenty of parking out front. read more

Kids area is nice and big with lots of space to spread out. Love the little book nook room for the younger kids to have a space. There are even some toys for in between book reading. There is also a Teen area and a 3d Printing space (altho, we didn't get to check this out on our visit). They have teen events as well! Which is a plus for the homeschool community. This place is always so good to me. Every time I return to the library I always take a look at the sale area. Without a doubt I always find a gem. As you can see I found quite a few this time. I have been going to the James I Gibson Library since I was a kid. Different locations, but still that same feeling. The programs they do here are fantastic. It's amazing to see the kind of place it's transformed into over the years. The only thing that makes me sad is they discontinued the summer reading programs for the adults. I remember doing it ever summer with my sister and mom. Now my son does it, maybe one day they'll bring it back and I can continue the tradition. read more

3 words: DRIVE THRU WINDOW!! This is a great library and a vast improvement over the previous location just up the road on Water St. Yes, the New York Public Library it is NOT. However, I believe that it gets the job done and is very nice and not too small for the area. There is a children's are and a computer room. And a drive thru window!! This is by far my favorite feature. You can reserve books via the county's website and they will let you know when they are available for pick up. You then pull up to the drive thru and VOILA! You are given your books! You can return books this way as well. I am unsure why this excites me so much, but I just think it's the best idea! read more

First time at the new Gibson public library location and it is beautiful! There's a computer room with about 20-30 computers to use. Also they seem to have a lot more new books in. There's also a small area near the entrance to buy used books, magazines, VHS, CDs, etc. Ranging from 10 cents to $1! I always find hidden gems in the sale area. I'm glad they have a new location, the old one just seemed a bit unsafe and unsanitary. This is place feels like a place I could stay for hours on end! :) P.S. There's a drive thru window (not sure what it's for) and drop bin for returning books. read more

Definitely not as nice or big as the libraries at Paseo Verde or Green Valley. However, the staff are helpful and courteous. There are some pretty good facilities, childrens section, a computer section, magazines, DVDs, and lots of books. The selection isn't as big as the one at Green Valley though. The building looks kind of dark and unwelcoming, to be honest. Some sketchy looking people sometimes, but then again it's at a sketchy part of town. The best thing to do is to go in (or any other library), get a library card, then go to mypubliclibrary.com sign up and search, order and hold books from there. They will transfer the books from the other libraries to you so you just have to pick it up from there. It takes about a week for the books to be transferred, and they also hold the books for another week. You can also renew books online. read more

This is a small library as is the parking lot. A little to close to Boulder Highway for my liking. On my last visit a smelly tweeker was just sitting around in the back taking apart a cell phone. He was under the watchful eye of a security guard but I think if your are not going to read or take advantage of the libraries other services.....GET OUT. Despite being small they have had just about every book I have needed to get. But unlike other libraries where I can go and get lost for an hour just looking around, I go online and look, if JIGL has what I need then I will roll down there. read more

This is a really nice library that is part of the Henderson District. It is about a year and a half old. There is a section for children to play on the computers. On the weekends, the kids section is full, but has less traffic on the weekdays. There are story times both during the week and on the weekends. There are two study rooms that can be reserved in advance or asked for on the day if available. The staff is helpful and willing to show you want you are looking for. The drop off of books is a little high for a normal car. The location is right off of Boulder Highway. read more

The Gibson Library is a small one, but the service is big. The library staff are always patient to help you and very polite. I absolutely love the fact that they have a drive thru window. Who would've expected a library to have one! If you tell them you're a regular drive-thru patron, they will put your requests right at the window and lessen your wait. Talk about convenience!! It's perfect for those super hot days when I don't want to get out of the car or when I have my little buddy with me! read more
