I brought my niece to Green Valley Library so we could maybe read a couple of books and hang out. The parking is a bit of a walk, not far, but it can be a bit challenging if you have kids or elderly with you. Luckily my niece ran with me so we made it safely across to the front and we were ready for our adventure. When you walk into Green Valley Library you're hit with a huge ceiling and you see a couple of employment agencies for people. That was pretty neat, it was set aside from the library, and it had chairs and benches for people who needed that service, and there is also a little stand where their security is guarding the area. The library in general is pretty small! However, the children's section is setup in its own little area; the bathrooms are within parents' eye view, and there's also a water fountain if that's your fancy. They have plenty of chairs and tables for families to do their homework, some writing/drawing and coloring. Green Valley has a sign on the tables that say you can enjoy coloring, snd they provide you crayons, but no paper or sheets! So if you're looking to do that, try not to forget those items. We were able to grab some scratch paper by their computers- and we made it work! We still had a great time. Their play area is small, and the toys are very basic. They have little chairs for your kids so it was cute seeing my niece have so much fun in her own little space. We read a book, and she had the best time browsing choosing out what she wanted to read. Overall it's a great little library for your kids if you need somewhere to study. I felt like a kid agains it was quiet, full of books and smelled like books! The older section also has a study pod that the librarians can help you use if you need it, which I thought was super neat and modern. Oh, you also check your books out electronically! This place was just a treat for me! I'm sure my niece had fun too, but if you're in the area, stop by!

Just be sure to book your appointment online! The appointment slots open I think exactly one week in advevery Monday (I'm not 100% sure on that though, and the time slot optionsare very limited and fill up quickly. If you can snag an appointment, it's one of the easiest and smoothest places to get passports done, especially with kids. Most recently, we used one of the multipurpose rooms here for a homeschool class event, hosted by an employee from the Las Vegas Natural History Museum for an ocean life class. I really love that the museum does that and we've always had great experiences with classes like this brought to us. Overall, this is a fantastic library for so many reasons, not just for checking out books, but also for community events, meeting spaces, and passport services. We've had nothing but great experiences here!

The library is always clean and welcoming, there are beautiful art displays throughout, and there are plenty of comfortable areas to sit, read, study, or work on a laptop. Unfortunately, today the noise level was honestly surprising. There were groups of kids and teenagers playing games on the computers, talking loudly, yelling, and using pretty inappropriate language. It got to the point where I had to put my headphones in just to focus on my work. What was most disappointing was that staff didn't seem to address the noise, and I didn't see any security around during my visit. I completely understand that libraries are community spaces and don't need to be completely silent, but there should still be a reasonable expectation that people can come here to read, study, or work without excessive noise. I'm hoping today was just an unusually loud day because I've always liked this location. I'll probably give it another try in a few weeks, maybe once school is back in session. It really is a beautiful library, I just wish the environment today matched the peaceful space it's meant to provide.

Gibson Library is a well kept library out near the Water District…read more Not as busy as the other Henderson libraries, which makes it quieter, and calm. Restrooms are well lit and clean. This library is a cooling station which allows the unhoused population a cool place to get a break from the heat. I believe this is a very humane and compassionate gesture, and support it 100% There is always a security guard on duty and she keeps the place in check. Customer service is awesome and always happy to help anyone.

I was able to easily renew my card, even though it had been so long that my info wasn't even in the system anymore. Waiting in that line was a bit of a bummer, it took a long time but I wasn't expecting swift customer service at the library. The selection here seemed alright, but it is a smaller library. I didn't stay for very long because every single table was taken and there was absolutely more talking and noise in here than at my home. I know quiet conversation is allowed but there are no dedicated quiet zones here.

Has well-stocked shelves in many different categories, even foreign language items, which surprised me. I know some languages, other than English. But only fully fluent, about 80%, in one of my mom's languages (she knows four languages, fluently). Noticed that the display cases inside of the main lobby have been moved. They also host special events and author appearance book signings. I've never had any problems here and the staff is always friendly and kind. They have placed an adult/teen horror title, The Book of Bill, directly in front of the puppet show and toddler reading area. My 6-year-old opened it, and my 10-year-old was so disturbed by the graphic, nightmarish imagery that they had to slam the book shut and told me they would have nightmares from it.There is absolutely NO excuse or reason for a mature book with a warning label stating it is 'meant for older readers' to be mixed onto a low shelf meant for small children. It is negligent to put terrifying, bloody content where a toddler can grab it while playing. Management needs to answer for this, fix this dangerous display immediately, and keep adult horror completely out of the children's play space. Parents, be on high alert here. I will be adding some pictures so you can see what your children will see if they get their hands on it. On the surface, this Barnes & Noble is a wonderful place for families--it has the massive variety of a library, a great Starbucks conveniently located inside, and a beautifully arranged space filled with toys, puppets, and activities for everyone. Because it feels like such a welcoming community hub, I sat down and let my kids explore the children's section, thinking it was a safe environment.
