Had Green Star remove a 50' White Oak tree this week. I don't have alot of experience with tree services but Christian was very prompt in coming to give estimate, returning texts, acknowledging the job, scheduling it, and completing it, including removing a very large stump, and working around my schedule. We loved the "parklike" feeling our new house had. These huge ancient trees around the house looked awesome and made everything so private. However, big branches were falling off randomly with just regular winds so I was nervous being outside with the kids. Some of the trees were also leaving towards the house and the neighbors house so we really needed to have them removed. These guys are really the hardest working guys I've seen in a long time. They took down 15 huge trees in 3 days. One day worked from 7am - 8pm! Powerwashing our patio furniture to clean up after themselves! What? They raked the yard and I think even spread grass seed at the end to smooth out the tire tracks! Oh, and the truck had made a little crack in sidewalk, they brought it to our attention (we would have never noticed!) and we said it's no big deal so they offered to do some extra tasks to make up for it. Yes, removing trees can feel super expensive to you when you get the estimate but once you see the work they have to do (and risks they take) to remove each tree you'll understand why the rate has to be high. read more

This is my 2nd time using Green Star Tree Service and I would recommend them. The first time I needed to remove an unhealthy tree which could potentially crash over my neighbor's house with high winds or snow. Out of 3 quotes, Green Star had the best pricing and I went with them. The job was done safely, on time, and the crew cleaned up after themselves. This week I needed to use them again on an emergency basis. It was a very windy Sunday afternoon and a seemingly healthy 90+ foot silver maple in a different part of my yard came down hard. One large branch from the downed tree snagged another tree and that was the only thing keeping the tree from bisecting my neighbor's ranch house. The two trees together were now leaning over the house and I was worried they would both crash down together. Having used them before, I called Green Star immediately in a mild panic and told him this was an emergency as this tree could come down on my neighbor's house at any time. The owner of the owner of the company answered on a Sunday afternoon and he showed up quickly to assess the situation, gave me a fair quote, and called in his crew on their day off. I have to commend them for showing up with all of their heavy equipment at 5pm on a Sunday. They decided that using their crane over my neighbor's house was the best way to remove the fallen tree and I watched them work closely as you can imagine the liability concerns on my end. The Green Star crew were respectful of my neighbor's property and they worked carefully and safely again even as the sun was going down. I'm sure the other neighbors weren't too happy about the noise on a Sunday evening but I'm sure this is preferable to listening to contractors rebuild someone's roof for many days. The crew cleaned up nicely and even inspected the neighbors roof for damage while they were up there with the leaf blower. I received my permits to have 5 oak trees removed from my property over a month ago. I had agreements with three different companies. NONE of them showed up on the day they were supposed to be there. They didn't return my calls or my text messages. These were people who were referred to me!! I'm in sales and I can tell you that's not how business is done. I've had reason to contract for tree trimming and removal, and have absolutely no experience in this area, so maybe anyone looking for this service will appreciate the "heads up" Ok, coulda' went with the visual recog here...you know ...drivin' along and see a company doin tree stuff ect... however, me being the cautious type, I did the multi bid thing to pick brains on the subject. Well, went with the Green Star company for a few reasons A) They showed up for the estimate and actually came more than once on my request, B). the crew leader (i;e fellow named Montana) was extremely courteous and respectful Appeared interested and was willing to negotiate with me on $$$. D) wanted me at the location while the job was being performed. First, let me tell you, I'm a very cautious consumer and will run like hell if I feel I'm being scammed, or involved with non competence. Ok with that said, these guy's (there are 5) showed up on time; made sure I was satisfied with their work, provided all insurance and license docs (upon my request) cleaned up after themselves, and were actually the lowest of the 3 bids I sought. My approval has been won, and I would recommend Green Star for any tree job, big or small. They are a competent professional tree service and I noticed they also provide property excavating, land clearing, and yard removal services, and in addition, retaining walls. Listen, this is a non bullshit subject area. As I watched, I realized things could go wrong real fast, and with serious consequences, it's as serious as a head on crash, just the nature of the business. Listen, these 5 guy's work together day in, day out, have acquired a rhythm through hours together and work quickly safely and competently. I would have given them 5 stars for deftness in taking down a tree hanging precipitously over a neighbors yard. Their price was also very good. However, they left not only parts of the tree, but planks of wood stacked up against another tree that they used when having a problem getting their truck out of my yard. I called after a week and asked them to please clean up at least the stuff they left. They assured me that they would. Seven weeks now and they don't answer my calls. If they ever clean up (fat chance) I will change my review. They are also not a member of the BBB. read more

Cristian had the best price out of the 6, count em 6 estimates for a huge tree that raccoons had their way with. My neighbor and I had agreed it was time to come down. But even though we went with the lowest estimate. We got a first rate, clean, safe job done. When my neighbor allowed us to use his property to do the bulk of the work, we were concerned. But the foreman Montana, assured us they would clean up everything well. I called after the job was done and they were very satisfied. I would use Cristian and his crew in a heartbeat again. These guys were contracted by the person who installed my mother in laws new septic. While most of the work was fine their employee cut down a cherry tree that was not supposed to be cut down. When they neighbors tried to stop him he insisted he was cutting the right tree. How a "tree expert" employs someone who doesn't know a weeping cherry from a pine tree is beyond me. While Christian agreed to plant two new cherry trees to make up for the error, he went back on this when he was told he could not replace a 40 year old tree with saplings. We hunted down a tree that was acceptable having to settle for one tree. We advised where it could be picked up from but it was too late in the season to safely transplant the tree. We agreed he would pick up the tree in the spring and get it planted by March 15th. Needless to say that didn't happen either. It is now May 11th and the tree is still not in the ground. I have heard excuse after excuse. One of my guys broke his arm, the rain has put me behind, and today's deadline will be missed because he is waiting for his crane to come back from the shop. I should not have to tell someone I am going to see an attorney if they do not do their job. I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone including my worst enemy. These people are complete UNPROFESSIONAL!!! read more

These guys worked on a house across the street from me. I didn't appreciate them running a woodchipper for hours on end, after dark, on a Monday night. They shouldn't be cutting down trees at 8 PM on a weekday. It was a nuisance to the rest of the neighborhood. There's ways to do things and there's ways not to. read more
