I just signed up with Trugreen, even though I've only had two treatments for my lawn, I can already see a difference, will share more at a later date after I have more treatments. My review is supposed to be for the Trugreen in my area, not New Jersey/ read more

We hired True green two years ago because I was going to be away for a long time. After two years our green and healthy lawn has become a disaster looking yard. We got all kinds of excuses from them and it has gone from bad to worse over time. I would not recommend them to anyone. Stay away from them. read more

I have been using TruGreen's Pro service for two years, and I am now entering my third year. When I first started your service, my lawn was virtually weed-free. I hired TruGreen because I wanted professionals to maintain my lawn and keep it healthy and free of weeds. So why does my lawn have more weeds every year despite paying for your professional service? Your advertisement makes it sound like you can take care of crabgrass and other weeds for good. If that is the case, shouldn't my lawn be in much better condition after two years of treatment? After almost every service visit, I have to call TruGreen again to complain about the weeds and request additional treatment. If I have to keep doing this, wouldn't I be better off taking care of my lawn myself? The problem is that I don't have the knowledge or experience to do it myself. That is exactly why I hired TruGreen and continue to pay for your professional service. I am paying for results, not just repeated treatments that don't seem to work. It is extremely frustrating to spend money year after year only to see my lawn getting worse instead of better. I would like TruGreen to explain why this keeps happening and what you are going to do to actually fix the problem. read more

Horrible Lawn Treatment and Results I am extremely disappointed with the lawn treatment service I received from this company. Despite paying for professional lawn care and treatments, my lawn has continued to deteriorate, and I have seen very little improvement. I specifically raised concerns about the condition of my lawn and possible insect problems, but the treatment and results have been far from what I expected from a professional lawn-care company. The lawn still has damaged areas, and I have not seen the results that were promised. What is most frustrating is that I am paying for professional treatment because I expect the company to identify the problem, treat it properly, and help restore the lawn--not simply apply products and leave the customer to deal with the consequences. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this company. I would strongly encourage anyone considering their lawn service to do their research and carefully evaluate whether the results justify the cost. read more

Horrible! We had beautiful grass but no time to care for it so we hired TruGreen and in less than two years, they have now ruined our grass. And, to make matters worse, they tell you they have new hires that don't yet know how to care for grass, the local Manager is a liar and unresponsive, and you cannot reach the Corporate Office. Not recommended! Included are before and after pictures. read more

If you want to pay good $$ for absolutely nothing, Trugreen is right for you. I had them for over 5 years and my lawn got worse and worse, and I'm not one demanding perfection by any means. My lawn developed bare patches after a year or 2. I put down topsoil as they recommended, and watered more than I'm allowed by ordinances. Things somehow continued to worsen. So, eventually I called them asking to only apply spring fertilization and winterization. 1st person said this wasn't an option, so I asked to cancel. Got a call back saying that was a mistake, and they would be able to accommodate my request. This was in August 2025. They didn't show for winterization, and then I got a mailing asking me to please become a customer again. I didn't know I wasn't before that communicae. I decided to handle it myself. I wanted to farm this out, but I got no benefit from Trugreen. I again applied topsoil to bare patches and fertilized with Scott's Weed and Feed. I still water religiously and my lawn is already far greener, and thicker overall. The bare patches have been covered by grass by about 75%. This is from late March 2026 to date, late May 2026. Honest to the good Lord, I didn't get anything positive by hiring them, and they somehow fired me as a customer. CANNING ME ACTUALLY WAS A POSITIVE, SO I GUESS THEY DID SOMETHING RIGHT AFTER ALL. In all my 50 years, never have I ever paid so much to get such negative results in return. My sons have had a far better ROI using various claw machines, hoping for Mario plushies. ********Update********* Out of morbid curiosity, I contacted the email below. Apparently, they have a guarantee! However, since I requested to reduce to 2 applications per year, it doesn't apply to me. That, and the fact it's been so long since they fired me. Had I been eligible for the guarantee, they would have applied more grass killer at no charge. Protip Trugreen: Don't advise an angry, former customer of a lame guarantee for which he doesn't qualify. What was the point of that? I wasn't pissed off enough for ya? It's akin to poking a bear with a small stick. read more

I called Tru Green last night to inquire about the services they provide. When I discovered that they do not provide the services I need, I informed them that they were not the right company for me. I called them for a job in New Jersey, and they called me back twice today from a number spoofed to my cell phone's area code on the other side of the country. Very unprofessional to not use a dedicated local company phone number for call-back. Super scammy and un-trustworthy. I wouldn't hire them even if they did provide the services I need because calling me back twice from a rural nowhere-ville area code phone number gives me scammy vibes and implies very un-professional business ethics. Would give zero stars if I could, and I haven't even had the displeasure of working with them. And they hung up on me in the middle of my sentence when I called them out for being scammy by using a phone number spoofer to call me back (twice). If they call me again from my middle-of-nowhere, different region of the country area code again, I'm reporting them to the Federal Communications Commission for predatory communications practices. read more

My lawn was beautiful in May and June. In late July and August my lawn started to die in patches and the weeds have become out of control. I complained to the tech in August and he told me to call TruGreen about the dead patches and the he sprayed the weeds and said they would die in a week or so. I called the company 2 times to complain. They said they would send someone out to evaluate the lawn and tell me how they would resolve the issues. They came when I wasn't home or didn't come but I never heard back. I now have more weeds than grass and large patches of dead lawn. I am strongly considering canceling them and finding a new company to fix my lawn. read more

Just signed up - so not sure about the service yet - but a but frustrated that it seems impossible to reach the local Albany office.

I have used Truegreen lawn service since last year. This year, I disconnected it. My front and backyard lawns are almost dead. After I filed a complaint, they just offered me a discount instead of fixing the problem. I demanded a refund for last month's payment. The customer service agent LIED to me that the company tried to refund me, but my bank did not accept it. Finally, they refused to make a refund. It is disgusting that TrueGreen customer service agents lie to customers. I am really disappointed with this dishonest practice, and I would not recommend this company to anyone. read more

Dear friends, I want to share my extremely frustrating experience with this company. If I could, I wouldn't even give them a single star. 1. **Poor Service & Broken Promises**: - I signed a **1-year contract** and paid upfront for **6 lawn treatments**. - Their workers did a **careless job**, just scattering some products and leaving quickly. - After multiple visits, **my lawn showed zero improvement**. 2. **Unethical Hidden Fees**: - Every time they came, they charged **$50-80 extra** without explanation. - When I noticed **three unauthorized charges** and complained, their customer service **refused refunds** and only offered a small discount on future services. **This is a scam!** If I hadn't caught on, I would have **paid several times the original price** for **no results**. **DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!** They exploit customers with **bait-and-switch pricing** and **deliver terrible service**. read more

Nothing new that hasn't been said already. Every appointment = No notification they were coming - Only serviced front lawn - Lied and said service completed - called and complained - Said they would reschedule - same thing or they just canceled. Final straw was today. They did call yesterday to say they would be coming today. Even got a text that my tech was on his way... gates unlocked... so excited! Then got a call saying they were unable to complete the service due to "weather"... it's a PERFECT day!!! Do not waste your time. read more

William Vidra was our specialist today. It was very early, but he tapped on the door. When my husband answered, he proceeded to explain what the treatment was that He was applying to the yard. He further explained How to take care of things because of the heat. He was very polite and professional. I will say he was one of the top specialist that we have had. He is definitely a five star employee. Trugreen definitely specializes with keeping the customer happy and sticking with them to have a beautiful lawn read more

After a season of service there was no an appreciable improvement in my yard. I called to find out when the aeration service was and they had said I cancelled it and tried to sell it back at over 100$ more. I just canceled after having them no show up twice for scheduled weed control. They did once on a day that is rained very very hard and days thereafter. I complained about this and they called saying I can reschedule this. I did, twice, and both times they never showed up. They advertise coming in-between the scheduled treatments, but that is hype! I will tackle my lawn myself. I did it at my last property and got great results. I did use Nextgreen for awhile at my last property and had great results. So, did other people I know. They are not in our area any longer. I called to cancel last week, and they said they will definitely get someone out by today. I called today, not seeing any scheduled notice on my app, and the lady on the phone had no clue that it was scheduled. I told her I am done and will treat the lawn myself better than they can do. I am in the leetown WV area. read more

Truly would give them 0 stars if I could. We hired them after they assured us they could revive a portion of our lawn that had died. The first two treatments were just fertilizer. What we really need is aeration and seeding, but we were told it was too early. So we continue to call back and request aeration and seeing and are constantly told that they will "get back to us" which they never do. Then, we call again and they tell us they only do aeration and seeding in the fall. This does not make any sense because their employees just told us we need it. So then we have another employee come out and he confirms again that we need aeration and seeding and we have to call and schedule. When we call yet another time, we are told they stopped doing seeding 2 weeks ago and we missed our chance. So what are we paying for?!?! For them to fertilize a dead lawn?!?! Truly the worst customer service I have ever dealt with. read more

I wish I could give zero stars. I reached out to these people one time and they have been calling and sending me text over and over for more than a year. I've actually gotten on the phone and told them I'm not interested please stop calling, but they will not stop calling. They are worse than stalkers. Leave me alone!!!! read more

First, Trugreen has NO local service people to communicate with. All communications are via the Trugreen app or the Trugreen website or a call center located somewhere on planet Earth. Only the person that comes to the property to spray the Trugreen magic juice on the yard is a live human to speak with (after the sales person is long gone). Second, the magic juice did NOTHING positive for my lawn. After more than a year of Trugreen applications and well over $1,000 my yard looks dead. At this point, I have canceled the Trugreen service. I bought two bags of Scotts Turf Builder (one bag on the front, one bag on the back) at a cost of $60 total and my yard has never looked better. I will never again be a Trugree customer and will never recommend the "service". read more

I didn't hire Trugreen, But my neighbor did. They sprayed her yard with weed killer, and got some on my 6 foot tall ice cream banana tree's leaves... It killed my 11 banana tree's that I have been growing for years. After consulting them about this, for 3 months after they said that they would replace them, a Rude manager said that they aren't going to because I had no video showing them spraying my tree's. So if you see a Trugreen at your neighbors house... Make sure that you video them spraying neighbors yard and not yours! read more

SLOPPY AND FAST I hired them for irrigation, fertilizer and seeding. I never saw a job done so fast - less than 15 minutes. And I have a corner fairly large property. No care or customization- we were told they would assess the lawn for further treatments on the initial visit. That was an overpromise. Wham bam and seeds were down, including on my pavers. I now have grass growing in the pavers. Needless to say we terminated our service. I now have to get this cleaned out before the pavers look better than my lawn. read more

I have about an acre and one half of lawn. I tried TruGreen for 13 months and fired them in June. At first they did not come on a regular schedule. I kept complaining and finally they started coming roughly every month. I did not notice much improvement in my lawn and then fungus hit large areas last Fall. This was after I asked for preventive disease treatment, as I know when temperatures in Coastal Georgia start to drop, the fungus appears in my lawn. This past spring I had major weed issues. It was obvious the lawn had not been treated with pre-emergent chemicals. It took 3 call backs to finally kill some of the weeds so I started spot treating the lawn myself. They would come and leave so quickly that I knew I wasn't receiving treatment on my entire lawn. I installed cameras last May and started monitoring the time spent on my lawn. I fired them after the June "treatment" as the guy walked around small area close to the house and left in 15 minurtes. This includes his sitting in the truck for quite some time. In short, I spent over $3,500 over 13 months and had horrible service and results. What I don't understand is how the regional office allows this to continue with inept employees. They have GPS on their vehicles and know how long the vehicle is parked at a customer's home. It should be very simple to monitor this and know immediately that the tech is not treating 64,000 square feet of lawn in 20 minutes. Customer service and management are very polite and seem interested in addressing issues but nothing actually changes with the service. read more

I'm sharing my experience to warn others. This company encourages manipulative tactics like using mental gymnastics on clients and cares more about sales than genuine service. I also have strong reason to believe that my personal information was mishandled after I left the company -- shortly after being removed from the system, I experienced suspicious unauthorized activity on my account which has NEVER happened before. So make sure not to get on Jon Showalter's bad side, or he may possibly give your card info out to scammer's! Leadership was unprofessional and emotionally immature, and the work environment was toxic. I stayed quiet for a long time out of professionalism, but I feel obligated to speak up so others can make informed decisions. After working here I began to question the company's ethical morals after they promoted us to manipulate clients to keep their accounts open, no matter the cost. This company is a professional SCAM, beware when purchasing services. You may not get what you asked for. There's many things and loopholes they don't inform their clients on, so don't be surprised when you get a random charge on Tuesday afternoon after 'cancelling' your account! Proceed with caution -- and protect your information. read more

Completely incompetent company, specifically the Danbury franchise. I hired them 3 years ago when I moved to CT and planted lots of new grass. I asked them not to apply preemergent, and even told the driver not to apply it, but he did anyway because he didn't speak English. They promised to come by and do something to compensate me, but never did. The next year they didn't put down the preemergent, and when I called and asked why, they said oops, they had notes from the previous year to not apply it, and now it is too late because they only have it mixed with fertilizer and they already applied the fertilizer. This year I pre-paid for the season, and they didn't show up. When I called they said oops, somehow we cancelled your service, but we can come next week when it is already too late to apply. I got a full refund and will hire someone else. You can only speak to customer service, you can never speak to anyone in the Danbury office. read more

Employees are careless with the weed killer. Spraying absolutely anything and everything. All my hydrangeas are burnt up, my lilac tree is burnt at the top. I don't know why they would even spray any higher than the actual ground, where the weeds are. They also sprayed inside my planters, burning up my mint. Thankfully, I haven't picked from it lately because absolutely not one sign was placed in any of the beds stating that they were here. They weren't even supposed to spray at my home and have been told not to on multiple occasions to skip my beds. read more

I've used this company for over a decade! I HAD a beautiful plush, weed free, green lawn. Last year I had called them and increased my treatments to monthly because over the last 3 years, every mid summer they were coming 8-10 and one time 12 weeks out, and I would have too many weed. Their do not have enough employees to cover their accounts! My last treatment would be the end of October when the lawn was completely covered with leaves from my neighbor that I couldn't keep up with, rendering it useless. Last summer late in the season, the front of my lawn turned white. My tech at the time, who was experienced thought it was red thread. I called the company for an evaluation and no one got back to me. It never spread, but the front was bad for the rest of the season. On Oct 6 last year a pack of Turkeys or skunks came through my back yard and dug up several holes destroying my lawn. When I raked up the dead grass I found grubs, despite grub treatment by TG. This year my lawn was PERFECT by early May. TG did a treatment on 6/27. I mowed the grass on 6/29 and it was beautiful, plush and green. The next day I noted some brown spots. Within a few days my entire lawn (1/3 acre) was infected with white, grey and brown. After the storms and the lawn being wet I can see many dark red spots. I called TG on 7/5. They made an appointment for a tech to come out in the am on Tuesday 7/8. No one showed. I called and was told no appointment was made. I was furious and fed up and immediately canceled my account. I purchased and distributed a fungal treatment myself on the 8th and hoping for results. It's been 3 days and I have a very small perfect area left on the lawn, so it did stop the spread however; no other changes yet. I'm hoping! This company has gone completely down hill. If the lawn was being treated properly it would not be diseased right now as shown in 5 photos. Customer service is difficult to get a hold of, you hold for long periods. I sent 2 messages on the app. with no response, before I committed to calling and holding. I'm extremely upset, disappointed and disgusted with my lawn. I can't even look at it! Now I'm in search of a company that will evaluate my lawn, treat it and who actually cares about their customers needs and results! After doing my own research, I learned that over fertilizing can cause fungal diseases. No one from TG bothered to tell me that or the importance of aeration which If that had been done properly, I would have continued with it. I also find it interesting that they have 4.5 reviews on google! Check out their consumer affairs reviews! You're hearing this story again and again... they claimed they showed up yesterday... if they did...theres not a trace of treatment...including no signs that they usually put up to show they were there... we have a fenced in back yard and a dog... and I've told them EVERY time they have to call or text 1st, so that I can open the gate. Tru Green is a complete waste of money... right down to them lying about coming out and doing a service. 1.3 stars? only because you can't give 0 stars. Otherwise they'd be a .3 out 5! I don't understand how they're still in business? read more

When I was able to do it I did a 1000% better job than tru green. First of all you can't choose the services you want, you are forced into a 'plan' and end up paying for a bunch of stuff you don't want. I don't know what they did to my grass, pour poison on it? I'm one of the 2 or 3 houses that water on my street, but there are big, say 3 foot, diameter spots of dead dried hay where the grass used to be all over the place?? More hay than grass. Why just my lawn? Supposedly I'm getting grub treatment. I think only one other house uses a lawn service and mine is about the worst there is. Also, my back yard slopes into a woods, the dirt has eroded away and left the back yard sloping. No grass WOULD GROW THERE even with the tru green service. So I had a company bring in a load of big rocks and a truck load of dirt. (cost a lot) The rocks were use to line the back of the yard, and the dirt covered he rocks. I just wanted anything, weeds would be fine, to grow on the dirt so the roots would hold it in place. Grass would be no good because tru green can never keep it growing. So all summer I waited for the weeds to take hold, like ground ivy or ground lily's, because that stuff survives drought and always returns in the spring. So tru green comes, when I am home, with the front door open and could explain what they intend to do, but just goes and sprays weed killer on everything, so there goes the ground cover for all winter. Maybe I shouldn't worry, there weed killer never kills many of the yard weeds any way. These people don't communicate, care, or provide anything but the poorest service. It's worse than that but I'm tired of typing. read more

Technically they do a good job but they will not stop calling me as many as 3x per day even on NYE! It's borderline harassment. Constant high pressure sales to the point of being sneaky. At one point, I considered using them but they said I would have to open a texted link which I didn't feel comfortable with. The other option was to give him a credit card.. "NO Thank you!" Well, Tony@ 860-299-5436 you hanging up on me when I asked for your supervisor was the best thing you could've done for me since I was able to look into all the negative reviews that highlighted my exact experience with you.
