Their staffs are very nice and friendly. This is a very good place for students to study and for me to come here to check my work + personal e-mails. The restaurant is pretty big so I never ever have to worry about not being able to find a table (or a parking spot). Ten Ren's just keeps going downhill. Every time I come back it seems to get worse and worse. The food and drinks are both very expensive and the quality is subpar at best. DRINKS & FOOD: Green Tea Yogurt: Sickeningly sweet. Nasty. Beef Noodle Soup: $10+ for a bowl of disappointment. The soup was weirdly sweet and gross.. Stewed Pork Rice: The stewed pork is also weirdly sweet? What is it with this restaurant and their penchant for making everything overly sweet??? They also raised the price by like two dollars. Popcorn Chicken: The only thing I like here is the popcorn chicken. It was fresh, hot, and crispy, but it was also freaking. $7 (plus tax) for such a small amount!! It's totally not worth it!! This review is for the wonderful baristas/bartenders who work here that I oh so love! First of all, location is great! Parking is plentiful. What's better though, is the IMPECCABLE SERVICE I receive. I took this picture in June 2015 but I still get pretty much the same order lol: Frost top black tea + Mango green tea (less sugar) - The drinks are sugar level and ice level adjustable. Toppings are a little extra ($0.50) and my favorites are lychee jelly, aloe and/or frost top. - Ordering is simple. You pretty much pick your base tea (black, osmanthus, green) then add a flavor (mango, peach, passionfruit) then add toppings (boba, jelly, aloe). The milk icees are super good if you choose to indulge (caramel, strawberry). - Drinks come in 2 sizes: regular and large (but usually the large hits the spot for ($0.50 more). Great place to study (free wifi), get boba and snacks (i love fries) and flirt with the bartenders cause they're super friendly (haha kidding)! But if you do stop by, go bother Denny for a drink and he'll make it just the way you like it. read more

I came here for lunch and I thought the food was alright. The interior of this place is new and very nice. There are a lot of outlets so it's actually a good place to study and chill. I got the Three-Cup Chicken combo which was $10.95 (a bit hefty for lunch around that area). The chicken was nice and tender, but I did think that the seasoning was off. The sauce had a strong soy/molasses flavor, so I think it needed more rice wine (米酒) to offset that. It was a bit too sweet for me. I enjoyed the other accoutrements with the lunch special. The veggies were all cooked well. The soup was actually served hot! I was surprised because Taiwanese places tend to serve it lukewarm with bento/biandang. Service was alright, although a little impersonal. The girl kind of gave the impression that she didn't care. When I walked out, I said "thank you" but she just looked at me and continued what she was doing, which was awkward. The funny thing is that she was an ABC. I expect that kind of service from actual Chinese people but that threw me off. Life surprises you everyday. read more

I'm not sure if it's just this location because I've been to other Ten Ren locations, but the food here was not great. I ordered the chicken with ginger, and the tofu, seaweed, egg meal. The chicken was tasteless. It just tasted like it was boiled in water. The ginger was sliced too thick as well which wasn't that great for eating. It was more of a garnish than part of the entire dish. The tofu was ok, but nothing great. It tasted like the packaged ones you could get at 99 ranch. The seaweed seemed old, and more fishy than usual. The egg was just ok. The rice both the meals came with was a bit dry and seemed old. The only thing that had some flavor was the side of soup the meal came with. You're better off not getting food here. It's not worth your money. read more

Went a couple of weeks ago with a bunch of co-workers for happy hour. Initially, service was just okay (I believe they had some trainees), but as the evening went on, it improved. The food was delicious. We ordered several appetizers ("Snacks") and a few different soups and ramen. This location (Valley & Lemon) differs from the one down the street (Valley & Grand) in that they serve beer and wine. I tried the red wine Sangria, which was wonderfully Slurpee-like and super refreshing. I will definitely be heading back to Ten Ren for further research of their delectable menu items. read more

Hi! Okay so I hate writing bad reviews but I had to share my experience because it truly made my thoughts towards Ten Rens become sour. A few days ago, I ordered a Mango Milk Icee for my mom and had my little sister go pick it up. I don't live super far from this location, so I expected there to be no problem with her going to pick it up after making a small stop at a neighboring restaurant. According to her, when she arrived at Ten Ren's the workers at the counter ignored her and didn't say a single word to her until 5-6 minutes of her awkwardly standing in front of the cashier. Once she was able to pay and come back with the drinks, I saw that the Mango Milk Icee's entire drink portion was as white as snow. Absolutely no mango syrup was added into this drink. I've ordered this several times in the past from the Grand Avenue location, and nothing has ever been wrong with it. To give it more of a chance, I even stirred the drink several times, took sips, and could only taste boba and the egg pudding. Usually, I let these types of mistakes slide but this mistake honestly made consuming the drink a bit difficult so I decided to give Ten Rens a call. I called this exact location last Friday evening, and I awkwardly explained my situation with the drink. A nice cashier answered the phone and said sorry for the mixup and that he could give us a new free drink in the future. He then said 'Wait a second' and then transferred me over to the person who made my drink. She asked me if the drink was under 'Jean' and I said yeah, she then proceeds to tell me that she's positive she put syrup into my drink and that it doesn't taste the way that I want it to because it had been sitting out on the counter for too long. Her tone made it seem like she was angry that I was trying to call in for a free drink, which is understandable because I have no doubts that people have rudely scammed establishments like this one before. She kept on telling me to stir the drink and that it should taste like Mango after a while. She left no room for me to even state my opinions and basic facts of the drink that I paid for. I was so flustered at this response that I just said 'Okay, thank you for letting me know', and hung up the phone. I ended up throwing away the drink with 75% of it still in its cup because it just wasn't what I ordered for my mom and she couldn't even drink more than a sip of it. I have worked in food service before, and I have never once tried to make a paying customer feel like their opinions on the food were invalid. I never once made them feel embarrassed or scared to call in to give feedback. Even if this barista did put mango syrup into the drink, she could have at least apologized or acknowledged how this situation doesn't make sense to the customer as well. Again, this made my experience with Ten Rens on Valley a bit sour. read more

I come here specifically for their joy pots and drinks. There is a big Chinese/Taiwanese-American community in the city of Walnut, so I can understand why there are a lot of Ten Ren's locations around nearby. This location also serves alcohol and has a happy hour. I have tried their other menu items, such as their popcorn chicken and French fries. But, their joy pots are quite good. The joy pot is a small hot pot dish with your choice of meat and soup broth. Although I am a fan of their joy pots, I just wish that the soup broths weren't so oily. It feels like I am literally just sipping on hot oil instead of the broth at times. The service is quite good though. read more

My favorite spot in Walnut to visit for almost a year now. When I moved out to Southern California a year ago, I had not ever had what I would consider to be rather authentic Chinese/Taiwanese food. It had always been the American-ized versions of Panda Express, and so forth. That said, I came here in April of 2016 for my first experience with my new co-workers. I fell in love quickly with this place, especially because it was where I was first introduced to boba tea. :) Thanks to Ten Ren's wonderfully flavored iced teas, I'm now a boba tea freak, unashamedly. My favorite teas I recommend are: - Passion fruit green tea w/ boba or aloe - Mango green tea w/ boba - Osmanthus tea w/ boba - Strawberry green tea w/ boba and the white sea cream topping type of stuff. OH... And you can get MINI boba for an extra amazing experience. A bit less chewing, but you still get the THRILL of the bobas in your mouth - lol. Yes, like a party in your mouth. I also have to give some props to the food there as well. My favorite dish is the kung pao chicken. I typically get that about 50% of the time I order, because I tend to order things over and over again once I find something I like. Their popcorn chicken is a nice treat, too, for an appetizer. If you want some fun eating as more of an experience, go for their hot pot. You can brew your own creation. Always look forward to some Ten Ren's. It's almost time for me to finish up filling out that stamp card again from getting teas :) P.S. This is probably one of the worst Ten Ren. I understand it's still new but do not open your door when you are not done with your training. Ordered the same things I always get @ other Ten Ren: grapefruit iced green tea, salt&pepper cuttlefish balls and masago fish&popping balls. Grapefruit iced green tea ($3.45): I can barely taste the tea and its grapefruit flavor. Not sure if this one is worse than Garvey-Monterey Park location. Cuttle fish balls ($2.49) and masago fish-popping balls ($2.49): greasy and just not cooked properly. I don't like rubbery balls. The waitress is super nice and service is fast. This place also serves beer, wine & soju. 2 regular TV playing regular channels and 2 advertisement TV. Super clean restroom is a plus. The place caters to the workers of Walnut Business Park. Beer at Ten Ren!!! I didn't order it though. I opted for my regular. I asked for the Popcorn chicken with spicy red chili and extra basil. What I got was the pepper popcorn chicken with two pieces of basil. Weird. The guy had repeated my order and he even looked confused as he placed it on the table. I bet the cook made the wrong dish. Regardless, I kept my mouth shut. ~Pepper Popcorn Chicken-2 Stars. I didn't care for the taste and it was not what I ordered. The texture of the breading was not crisp but kind of mushy. Perhaps, they may have used a little too much oil or something. Strawberry Green Tea with Pudding-3 Stars ~One of my favorite drinks of all time. The pudding was good but the drink was super sweet. The amount of syrup far exceeded any I have had at the other locations. I couldn't really taste too much of the tea. It was AOK. Based on the sleeve for the chopsticks, I confirmed I have been to every Ten Ren in the area...LA County, San Bernadino County, and I have been to the one in Orange County that is pretty good. This may be my least favorite location. Folks, this is a new shop. It may just take some time getting everything down. Customer Service was great, free wifi, clean and trendy place to hang out. Shortly after we were seated, a waiter came by to take our order. We hadn't decided what we wanted and asked for more time. We decided and waited, and no one came back to us. We flagged one of the waitresses down and it took more time for one of the staff to take our order. The service seemed disorganized. We ordered the popcorn chicken combo with the soup option, the pork chops with the soup option, an apple iced tea, and a milk green tea. In the menu, the picture of the combos for the soup looked small. The picture was not to scale and I was surprised to receive a big bowl of soup. I thought the broth was very good, but the noodles were overcooked. I ended up not eating a lot of the noodles. The broth contained spinach and bok choy. The popcorn chicken was great. This was my favorite out of the food items. The pork chops were too sweet for my taste. I ordered my apple iced tea with 1/4 sugar and I really liked it. My husband ordered his green milk tea with 1/4 sugar was well and liked it. I would come back for the drinks, and maybe the popcorn chicken. read more

They have a large variety of chinese snacks and dishes so whether it's for a meal or just something to munch on there are a large amount of items to choose from. Because of crazy boba fans like me who are willing to pay $5 for a drink, Ten Ren's has now opened their second location in Walnut! This location is tucked away in an industrialized corner on Lemon and Valley across from the train tracks. This location has flat screen TV's on the walls and plenty of seating. It is bigger than the other Walnut location on Grand Ave and seems to target a younger, hipper crowd. This weekend, they had a Joy Pot buy one get one free special. Promotional specials for their soft opening continue on into next week with buy one get one free drink specials and beer specials. Oh yeah... one big difference is that this location sells beer! Didn't try it so not sure if it's any good but I think this will go down in my historical boba textbook as the first boba joint in Walnut to sell beer. Will have to come here a couple more times to really decide if it will be my new "go-to" Ten Ren's, but for now, Yay! I'm a fan! read more

I have 16 check-ins here, so writing an update. This is pretty much my 2nd home. I keep coming back cause I love milk green tea and the other drinks are pretty good as well. However the service is really bad. If you go for dinner or anytime it's crowded I can pretty much guarantee that either your order will get messed up or your order will get messed up. I've even had times where my drink order was wrong. Asking for anything such as water, or like maybe napkins will probably take 5 minutes. That is if they remember about your request. It's not that they are completely incompetent, but there's so many people and they always only have 2 people serving - ALWAYS. And as for the food, everything is okay but there really isn't anything that's really good. The drinks are good but the food is just so-so. I've gone through the menu many times. But hey I live in Walnut, and there's a bunch of ginormous televisions showing the basketball/football games and this is the only place around here. So good: TV, drinks. Bad: Everything else. Seriously why do I keep coming back? Me and my friend asks ourselves every time we come here. I would be glad to write another update if my experience here improves. Step it up TR. read more

I'm a fan of this place because they make really good milk teas here. Not only that, they offer lots of different selections. I've ordered their Sea Salt Caramel Milk Tea. When I made my first sip, my impression was "It's milky as Milky Way" I've opted for normal sugar in this one. This drink turned out to be smooth bliss! The selections here aren't boring. When I went through their menu, I was amazed! I saw on their dinner menu: beef gravy over rice, Taiwanese sausage fried rice. They offer snack bites like: sweet potato fries, fried wontons, popcorn chicken. Other than teas they have desserts like shaved iced with different flavors to choose from of course. This joint is clean and is a good place to bring over your friends to chill. I do find this place in an awkward area surrounded with industrial businesses, but hey I find that parking here shouldn't be a problem. Last but not least, I need to come back here to try out their sea salt shaved ice. This maybe the best Ten Ren around. read more

WTF, a TEN REN'S TEA TIME THAT SERVES BEER?!! AWESOMEEEE! I've come here a couple times and it's close by my house and nice to come to enjoy their really good happy hour which is 50% off pitchers! Gotta bring your coworkers and friends!! Taiwanese food is my favorite so it makes me so happy that I can eat and drink at one place! Normally, they never serve beer esp. with this type of food so that's something that makes them stand out. Decent pricing. You get what you pay for. Not too expensive not too cheap. Pretty large spacious seating indoors and they also have outdoor seating available as well for the smokers. Private parking lot (love that). I can't believe I'm singing the praises of a Ten Ren but I think this newest store of the tea house chain is probably the best Ten Ren I've been to yet. Not only is this Ten Ren not as crowded as the other one in Walnut is (or others for that matter), but this particular store offers plenty of electrical outlets for those who bring their laptops, nice big TVs for those wanting to catch a sports game, and yes even get a few beers on tap. If you've been to another Ten Ren, then you'll know every Ten Ren menu is the same - full of teas, milk teas, coffees, slushies, and some standard Taiwanese food (wonton noodle soup, sausage w/ rice, etc.) that are all reliably good but arguably overpriced. A drink will cost you anywhere from $3-$6 and food (not including the cheaper appetizers) often goes from $5-$9. I usually get a Love Potion #6 (no shame here) or the almond milk tea. Prices usually go from $3-$6. Service is friendly and attentive and there's plenty of parking outside, which is not surprising since this Ten Ren is strangely located in an industrial office park. read more

I went here last week and after that it'll take alot for me to return. I've been to other tea places, but I have never experienced bad customer service. It took me 30 minutes to get a menu because I was ignored. One waiter said he was getting a menu but never came back. After it took another waiter to notice me. Then it took over 40 more minutes to even ask for my order. To top it off it took over an hour (til closing time) to get my change. Usually they're suppose to greet you and give you a menu when you're seated and then come back to see when you're ready to order. I have never felt so ignored as a customer and I am making sure to not to back. read more

I checked in recently for my favorite Honeydew Milk Tea and was greeted immediately by a responsible and friendly Host who was standing properly at the Host's station instead of goofing off in the back. Alisa took my order and was incredibly down to earth, fun, and sweet!! She made sure to ask for my preferences in sugar and ice which I appreciated. I ordered a Mongolian beef entree, the beef was okay, but sides were absolutely Inedible. I did not get to choose the side dishes. I was told they were "egg drop soup" (gross, tasted like corn-water) "sautéed bok Choi and mushrooms" (cold mushy Bok Choi with ZERO mushrooms) and the third was only just described as "radish". I love Ten Ren's!!! This is my go-to place. I live less than 10 minutes away from this place and their drinks have never disappointed. I'm always open to trying new things, but time and time again, I'm always disappointed by other drinks and catch myself comparing them to Ten Ren's. I'm very specific about my milk teas especially. I've also been to places where they can't adjust the sweetness or the milk teas taste like milk. I sound like a tea snob, but it shouldn't be called milk tea if you can't taste the tea!! Anyway, I always get the half sugar and less ice with all my drinks. I would technically give this place 4.5 stars since they sometimes forget the less ice. I also prefer this location to the one on Grand because the tables are bigger, and there are more places to sit! I always come here to meet my friends and study. They also have WiFi, too! I always come here after acupuncture cuz it's just across the street. I've never ordered food here and always come for the bubble tea. My favorite to order is the honeydew shake and cream cheese green tea! This place has the best cream cheese green tea! I've tried a lot of other places but they suck as the cheese tastes too artificial. This place uses real fresh cream cheese to top their drinks. The only thing that sucks is that it's rather expensive for bubble tea. The most I've ever paid for my large honeydew smoothie is $6.50! The staff are great and always help me with my choices. Saturday 8/22/20 2pm pick up time. The girl at the front counter was very helpful, polite and courteous. Even though we ordered our drinks incorrectly on our end, she and the male behind the counter were happy to make it right. I hate to say it, but customer arrived like this rarely exists nowadays in retail. Kudos to their trainers, managers and parents from raising two great individuals with strong character foundation. Man! I didn't know about the new location until recently and I've lived only about 2 miles away for a couple years now! WTH! Same Ten Ren, same food, same delicious Boba, but this one is much bigger and even has a somewhat larger patio area (well, the one on Grand doesn't really have a Patio area, per se, but there's a couple tables out there) The staff is always friendly with me and very nice....very clean and parking is VERY easy, unlike the other locale. read more

I've been coming here a few times these past few weeks and while I do like Ten Ren's in general, there are a few things that I am not so comfortable about. 3.5 FOOD QUALITY: Drinks are perfectly fine, but their food is more on the oily side. Enough to put a coating in my mouth that is pretty uncomfortable. The ingredients used are the same, just the execution is different. SERVICE: Service here in general is kind and polite. Were I compare it to other cafe spots in general then I would say that they provide standard service where if you need anything you have to flag them down and ask. This store is a little more hectic, and so I feel that they feel less inclined to have enough time to make sure every customer is doing okay. ENVIRONMENT: The table seats are perfectly fine, spaced out evenly, and comfy. However the bench seating is incredibly, INCREDIBLY cramped that it's uncomfortable every time I have to get in and out of the tables. While I understand the strategy of how they arranged the tables, they really need to take one out to allow for enough room in between tables. Overall, this place is a good study spot and if you don't mind the noise -- especially that stupid table that was playing nyan cat for ten minutes straight.. In summary? Drinks here are good. Alcoholic drinks here are pretty good (and strong!) Food is on the oily side. read more
