I ordered tea delivery through DoorDash the other day. The taro smoothie with oat milk was refreshing and yummy. The Thai tea with oat milk half sweet was the right amount of sweetness for me. A solid tea shop to DoorDash from time to time!
I'm not exactly sure why this place has lower ratings. Maybe it's because it's an OG spot and people expected it to evolve more over time. That could be part of it. But there are things here worth appreciating. It's a casual place where you can grab a beer, catch a game, and have some Taiwanese street-style food. It's not a sports bar, and it doesn't try to be. It's more of a laid-back, old-school spot to just sit, eat, and hang out. Food-wise, it's decent. I've been to more expensive places with less quality. Is it amazing? Not always. Is it good enough? I'd say yes. There's definitely room to improve, but it's far from bad. Some dishes stand out. The scrambled egg beef rice is one I keep coming back to. At the same time, there are dishes that are just okay--or forgettable. This isn't a place you go in expecting perfection. It's a place you go when you want something familiar, simple, and a bit nostalgic. And for that, it still works.
I've been a tenren milk tea fan since I was a kid. Still my fave. I'm giving two stars because I ordered the Taiwanese sausage here today, the amount was laughable. It was half the amount as the pic shown on their website.
Came here for a midday snack, went with a 50% sweet level earl grey milk tea with brown sugar mochi jelly, and a popcorn chicken rice combination. My first time trying brown sugar mochi jelly, and whooooooah...it's amazing. I can surmise they are trying to emulate the tapiomochi from toro tea, and honestly it is very very similar. Not too sweet, perfectly chewy with a rich brown sugar flavor, which I particularly enjoyed. The earl grey MT was cool and refreshing. I do wish the early grey aroma was a little stronger, but that's just personal preference. Popcorn chicken rice combination was also good, a solid 7.5-8/10. Could be a little crunchier, but the quality of the chicken was good and the combination with rice and vegetables was perfectly crafted.
Ten Ren always has many great drinks I like. This place also offer simple dishes. It's nice to come grab a snack or bite while getting all my shopping done.
I didn't know there was such thing as Green Shaker and was owned by Ten Ren. I came here because a friend of mine requested this place. Overall, I thought it was ok. Service here was good also because it wasn't too busy. Thought the food was just ok. There isn't anything here that was really unique. The green tea tasted just fine. The food they served was kind of plain for the most part, but the portion was fine. The place itself is a nice place. Not a tiny one.

I don't know why people are giving this place a bad rating. I have been twice and I am addicted to their Thai Tea! The picture shows it without boba, but this past Saturday I got it with double boba. I didn't want it to end it was that delicious!! My other family members had Taro Tea, and Mango teas and they all enjoyed them very much. The service was great, the place is run by young guys who are all kind and patient. We sat there for a while and we loved that there were people studying and families and everyone was just hanging out. Please go to Ten Ren - especially when f you love Thai Tea!!
Today around 2:30PM, a server with half black and half red hair referred to me as "gross" while speaking to a coworker, even though I was polite and did not blame anyone. My order was made incorrectly (noodle soup was prepared as glass noodle soup). When I asked for a correction, there was no apology, the correct dish was significantly delayed, and I was treated as an inconvenience for following up. I was in the area to scope my next potential home. Walnut is a small area and this tea place is in the middle of what seems to be the hot spot of walnut. Tj maxx, schools first, and boba in the same plaza? I like a lot. After a trip to tj maxx, I came here for some food and drinks and a study session. I ended up getting some fruit tea, vegetables and rice, and fries. Everything was decent tasting, but I think the vegetables had some type of meat sauce on top. I could be wrong. Im a pescetarian, so it wasn't great finding small bits of meat but I mustered up and just ate it. Before leaving I decided to got some type of milk tea to try as well but that wasn't as good. If I live in the area in the future then I would stop by again.
I've always loved their boba! It has a distinct deep flavor and their tea tastes more like tea and less like artificial flavor. I noticed today that their tea leaves are grown on their farms maybe that's a gimmick but I do feel like I'm drinking TEA! Not amazing service/not super friendly and kind of run down on the inside but I came for the drink and the drink was amazing!
This boba/food stop is a favorite of mine! The service is great, friendly workers. The ambiance is nice, a little loud because of the music. People study here, families and friends are all welcomed! I usually get popcorn chicken or green onion pancake. The portions have gotten noticeably smaller in the last year or two. The green onion pancake is a hit or miss, sometimes too soggy or burnt. I've a few boba favorites here, usually not disappointed. You can adjust the sweetness and ice level. read more
Great local hangout for the younger crowd and a nice place to have a quick meal for the older ones. Prices are reasonable as lunch combos come with drinks and you could order a drink for a cheaper price for dinner combos. Food is good and service isn't bad. I've been coming for over 10+ years and quality of food has been consistent. Easier to find parking now than before, even on weekends. My fave food to order there is the Pork Chop Soup Noodle. Ten Ren makes the best tea so my go-to order is always the Honey Green Tea. Average is about $20/person with entree, drink and tips. Highly recommend Green Shaker by Ten Ren in the City of Walnut. read more

We visited one of our favorite spot Green Shaker by Tenren Tea! Some of us know them as Tenren Tea but that was years ago. We ordered the Jin Xuan Oolong and Lychee Tea - both were spot on! Fresh and aromatic in their own right. You can customize the sweet level for the lychee if you are worried about your sweetness intake. We met the manager, an old friend offered us samples of different teas - Ten Wu Tea (similar to Jin Xuan, but a tad heavier on the after taste, a good thing); 913 Ginseng Oolong (a tad lighter than Ti Kuan Yin, both are very aromatic). They clearly make great teas and truly know what they are doing. Great tea, friendly service and great atmosphere! See for yourself! read more

I ordered the Taiwanese sausage with rice and a Hokkaido milk tea with boba. The food and drink came out quickly, which was great! The outdoor seating was a nice bonus, especially since I had my dog with me. Overall, a good spot for a quick bite. read more
Not saying it's bad, it's just an average Taiwanese snack shop at this point. My Jin Xuan Oolong was freshly brewed and this had a pretty good mouth feel; bitter and aromatic, it drank easy. I got it with zero sugar and I liked it. 4/5 Their green milk tea tastes like GMT from any other mid level boba shop, but solid enough. 3/5 Pork chop w/ noodle soup: the pork was one of those pan-fried with light potato/tapioca starch coating so the texture is ass (imo I like the deep-fried ones, like popcorn chicken outer texture). It was oily and didn't have a good crust. The seasoning was light and the pork chop was too lean for this classic-style Taiwanese fast food. 2.5/5 Noodle soup had a lot of noodles, good for loading on carbs, actually a good amount of bok choy (2 whole pieces chopped into quarters. Really light soup, not a lot of minced pork on top, not so aromatic, but good at washing down the fried food. In my family, we call this the washing wok soup 洗鍋湯 (bone stock/water used to clean off the surface of your cooking apparatus for some flavor lmaoo) 3.5/5 Spicy wonton: not spicy. No chili oil/flakes, had preserved mustard that did not add anything except maybe ruin the wontons (really salty). Light sweet soy sauce (almost like soy sauce glaze) coating the wontons with seaweed shreds on top. Avoid, they don't know wtf they're doing with this. The wontons themselves were tasty but small. Embarrassing way to ruin wontons. 1/5 This place used to represent quality over Quickly's, Tapioca Express, etc., but that's a remnant of the past. If I'm spending $15 on an entree, I'd eat elsewhere. If I want a drink, maybe I might but there are lots of other places nowadays. Sorry Ten Ren, you'll be missed. 2 stars, but an extra one for nostalgia. read more

Solid establishment. What stands out is the selection of different menu sections and items. What seems like a run-of-the-mill boba shop is actually a mini-restaurant and great place to unwind. Unfortunately, the quality of their actual drinks struggles to live up to the presentation and food, and my observation through the different visits is that you're better off coming here for food and not for the drinks, which isn't the goal of the restaurant from what I can ob. Don't get me wrong, they do offer a good selection of drinks, but I have yet to find one that has given me a reason to reorder or come back. I really only recommend this business as a place to take a short snack break, which isn't really why I originally came here. The service is also hit or miss too, sometimes good, sometimes swarmed with customers and overwhelmed. Regardless, I see the business as one with a lot of room to grow. Give it a try and see for yourself. read more

Was craving Asian food while here. My coworkers and I frequently come to this plaza but I wasn't craving any of the fast-food places here. Randomly decided to check out Ten Ren and totally forgot they served food besides boba! Upon arriving, I had a whiff of a really strange smell- not sure if this is due to the food or bad hygiene but it was not a good smell. The server was patient as I was trying to choose food. There is a lot to choose from-- bentos, rice dishes, noodle dishes, and appetizers like popcorn chicken or fried fish balls. This place serves Taiwanese food and I decided to get the Braised Pork with Egg on Rice. Honestly this was quite good. The pork was marinated well and the Taiwanese egg was chef-kissed. There was so much sauce so the rice soaked up every bit of it. The pickled greens were a nice touch with the sweet pork. Also because I ordered to-go, I was shocked that we get a free reusable bag! Didn't know they did that so that was nice. It is a bit pricey now since inflation, but for quick Asian cravings, it definitely hit the spot. Will try the other food items offered here when I come back! read more
Came here for their Brick Toast and turned out satisfied. The trainee welcomed us warmly and let us seated. I had special request on the toast (half butter & half Nutella) which was graciously accommodated. The plum green tea was really nice. Though the Pop Corn Chicken was not as usual taste. It looks like deep fried on the oil that has been used thousand times, you can see the color is a little bit darker and taste was awful as well. Sport TV was played as the entertainment and create kinda bar atmosphere (and not boba place anymore). Summing up, other than Pop Corn Chicken's case we were happy with anything else. read more

Amazing food! And literally the Best customer service everytime. Young man by the name of Gavin had patience in helping us order and we were able to enjoy the best Joy-pot meal. Definitely come and taste for yourself! Recommend the spicy Pork bone beef Joy-Pot and the spicy tofu! read more
