One of my favorite places to dine in Decatur food is always good... service is hit or miss...

My go-to Sushi place! Not only do I thoroughly enjoy everything I order from Green Ginger, my bf and I were delighted to find a free item in our bag as well. Thanks for the free egg rolls!! The quality of sushi from Green Ginger is delicious, fresh, and consistent. Rolls are large and I can typically fill up on two rolls. The gyoza is sooo yummy! You have to try the sweet curry sauce for your dumplings. It's a game changer! While we typically have this delivered, every time I've done in-store pick up, the staff has been welcoming and kind. My order is always ready on time and delivered quickly. Give them a try! read more

This place is great if you don't want to fool with parking in the City of Decatur. It's situated in a parking lot with plenty of parking. They have a spacious patio that's really nice. My waitress was nice and attentive. They accepted my groupon. The food is descent. read more

We had to go to CVS and thought this would be a convenient option to pick up dinner to take home. We chatted with an employee who told us the Thai chef from the previous restaurant at this location worked for them. So we go excited about authentic Thai food and ordered a variety of dishes to try. We were horribly disappointed when we got home and tried the food. There was absolutely nothing actually Thai. Note my family is Thai. For example the drunken noodle dish is meant to be wet noodles in a savory sauce. These were dry and sticky with very little sauce. The Thai fried rice was just rice fried in soy sauce. Thai-style fried rice has a variety of seasonings and vegetables, and comes with cucumber slices, tomato slices, and spring onion on top. This was not Thai. To make it worse, the food was actually bad. The tofu was chewy and clearly several days old or reheated. The spring rolls that were complimentary had very thick skin and were lacking any substantive filling. The only positive note is that portions were large so we had a lot left over but none of it was very edible. If you want good food, do not waste your time or money at Green Ginger. read more

The food is fine, but this place lacks the basic logistical capabilities for running a restaurant. The service is bad enough in person, but when ordering takeout, I frequently have to wait an HOUR longer than their estimated time. I don't know why I keep falling for it. read more

I would give them a ZERO if i could. What a terrible dining experience. I remember when they first opened over 10 years ago and the service was really bad. They got it together and it became a staple for my family. We've easily eaten here over 100 times. Easily. We arrive tonight after my daughter's game and the server aggressively approaches us and tells us his name is Brian and he's the manager. And we look at each other like, "Oh....OK." He's dripping w/ attitude. Rushing us to order. Telling us we need to get our order in because he has a lot of tables and he wasn't sure when he'd get back. So as each person orders, he arrogantly and to be honest condescendingly responds, "AND YOU....AND YOU.." loud just so unnecessarily rude, like he's talking to someone whose bothering him. After getting our initial water, we asked for a refill. He curtly and dismissively responds, "I'll have the hostess bring it out." So much attitude. Well, that never happened. We had to ask for water countless times. He gets my wife's drink order wrong because he's so busy trying to rush us to order that he wasn't listening. We tell him the drink order is wrong, then he cops an attitude and starts arguing with us. We assure him that he was wrong and as he turns the corner, you hear him slam the glass down. He brings out one of the entrees and it's not at all what was ordered. We let him know and he responds, "Well...it's noodles. They're all look alike." Who does that??? And to be honest, it just wasn't the dish that was ordered. That was proven by the bill which had the dish that was ordered printed correctly. We then go inside and actually talk to the "Real Manager." Surprise...surprise Brain isn't the head manager. He was mildly apologetic. But he was also making excuses for Brian talking about how busy it was. The problem is it wasn't that busy. And even if it was, there's no need to be rude, condescending and arrogant. No one goes out to eat during a never-ending pandemic to be treated like shit. Suffice to say, we're never going to eat here again. There are too many Sushi, Thai and Chinese food options in Decatur to have to deal w/ that mess. I never write reviews anymore...so yeah it was that bad. read more

Just left this place and when I say the customer service has gone downhill, it has gone all the way down. I sat there waiting on my food for 30min longer than needed because they basically behaved as if we weren't sitting right there in their face at the bar. The Asian guy was very rude. I asked to return the fried calamari and he asked why like my food hadn't sat there for 30 minutes. Who eats sitting fried calamari!?! Prepare to board a culinary roller coaster of Asian flavor!! That is really the best way to describe the Asain fusion restaurant #GreenGinger. It features a delicious blend of Thai, Chinese and Japanese cuisine! A very laid back bar atmosphere greets you with calm mood lighting and simple decor. Spacious and comfortable seating both indoor and on the large patio. On this visit, we decided to start with an appetizer. I selected Pork Goyza which is 6 flavorful pork dumplings with a side of soy vinaigrette. I also couldn't pass up the opportunity to enjoy my favorite seafood, Crispy Calamari, which was lightly salt and pepper seasoned with a spicy mayonnaise dipping sauce. Both were prepared perfectly and the portion size was immense! My little one, Rose, is quite the ramen aficionado and was very pleased to find her favorite chicken ramen with a side of french fries on the kids' menu. The abandoned YouTube videos and slurping sounds coming from her side of the table let me know that she was also enjoying her meal! This was confirmed when she asked if there were more. Jameen opted for the Thai side of this fusion restaurant enjoying a large bowl of Tom Kha. A delicacy of mushrooms, tomatoes, and cabbage seasoned with scallions and cilantro in a coconut milk broth with rice noodles and chicken. Please do not let the pictures fool you as you cannot gauge the size of the container that was brought to the table!! A better word to describe the bowl would be cauldron! Definitely a large enough serving for two people to share! I opted for your build your own Noodle bowl which was also served in the gigantic cauldron! I chose to be daring and had the spicy red curry and coconut milk broth served with flat rice noodles, imported from Thailand, accompanied by cabbage, onions and mushrooms! Oh my goodness it was soooooo good! Jameen can testify that I said the words "Soooo good!" several times not only during the meal but many times afterward!! Again since the portions were so huge there were lots to be brought home! After eating our full we still had 2-quart containers full of soup to bring home, making this meal definitely worth the money!! Last, but certainly not least, our waiter Danny had an effervescent personality and a glowing smile. Very professional an upbeat he was expeditious in taking our drink and appetizer order. He continued throughout the rest of the meal bringing our dishes at what seemed like the perfect time and even refilling our drink glasses as needed without being asked! He was even very kind and attentive to my seven-year-old daughter that just needed more and more ketchup for her french fries..LOL. His customer service was absolutely A1. Green Ginger has an awesome new drink menu with exciting new varieties of sake, Korean seltzers and Sojus, and new cocktails with amazing ingredients. I just had the East 75th Ave which is Japanese Gin, Yuzu Marmalade, Lemon and Sparkling Sake. So light and refreshing. Their sushi is always high grade and their Thai food is amazing. Green Ginger is an OK place to get OK Asian fusion food. What this restaurant has going for it is an extensive menu with many options and different styles of cuisine including Thai and Chinese. I've never had a bad dish at Green Ginger but nothing that has really wowed me either. The reason I'm giving Green Ginger 3 stars instead of 4 is that the last 3 or 4 times I got takeout, my order was missing something or it just took forever because the process was so unorganized. For starters, I got the springs rolls and Salmon Skin roll. If you know me by know then you know spring rolls are my life. For entree, Bae got the sesame chicken and broccoli. Just ordered two dishes using Uber Eats. As vegetarians, we ordered two dishes with tofu. Order arrived right on time with correct order on receipts. However, the picture attests that we got chicken instead of tofu in one dish. When we called them, they first blamed Uber Eats and then wouldnt let us talk with the manager (who we could hear the in the background refusing to talk to us). Come on, nice customer service. This lunch date was a longtime coming. This spot has been on my radar. Ample parking at this eatery. Because it's in a plaza you don't have to pay for parking at this downtown Decatur spot. Inside decor is nice and current. Looks like a downtown fusion spot. Lunchtime crowd is consistently flowing but you have the option of indoor or outdoor seating. Waitstaff is pleasant. The service was amazing (even though Jimmy isn't a server he still went above and beyond and I wouldn't have known if he wasn't apologetic for his inexperience). This is just the esthetic of this place. As I waited for a seat 3 employees asked if I was helped. When I was sat it didn't take long for Jimmy to join his team and help serving my table. Great food. Awesome portions and the best service ever. Our server, Matt, was awesome. He had the best recommendations and checked on us frequently. The menu is like a book; it's huge and there is a lot to choose from. I ordered the General Tso chicken and crab rangoons. I was full before the entree arrived. The Thai tea was also good and a first for me. Matt was so knowledgeable and informative. He had answers for all of my questions. Since it was our first time here he walked through the entire menu with us and made great recommendations. Parking is good here. There lot is used by several.businesses, but it wasn't crowded when we went. We actually sat on the patio, even though it's December we were warm because of the heaters. It was great. I am already planning another trip to this spot. I was pleased all the way around. Best part is the prices were good. Two of us ate full meals with appetizers and drinks for $40. The meal was absolutely saturated in teriyaki sauce to the point where it's all you taste. They seriously had to have used a whole bottle. It was over kill. Nothing was to my standards and I decided to order from another restaurant rather than putting myself through eating the trash food from this restaurant. My husband and popped in for a late lunch. This restaurant is tucked in a small strip mall on Ponce. Parking is plentiful and at the time of our arrival, we parked by the door. Our greeter quickly seated us and we ordered an appetizer. Appetizer came out quickly. We then ordered our entrees and so after our meal arrived. My husband was delighted with his.. I was delighted with his too. My choice was the noodle bowl and based on my selection.. I was underwhelmed. Not enough flavor. The next time we go I'll most likely order what my husband had (see picture). Staff were professional and friendly. We will definitely return. We live here after a busy day getting my daughter settled into her senior year. I had Pad See Yew and I thought it was really good however the sushi was only okay that the girls had. The atmosphere was nice the service was very slow and we had to ask several times to get things and have water refilled. I had a Groupon that I used and normally I like to tip well but I would not have wanted to tip 18% in this case. Proportions for generously sized and my food like I said was good but overall disappointed. We had a strange mix up in pay are the waitress charged my credit card $1 when we wanted to put the tip on one card and the remainder on another. This place is weird. The first time I went, the waiter was kind and funny and the food was great (The pad thai was so good). The second time we had a different waitress and she was... odd. She made a fee sly comments when my friends asked for recommendations- Nothing outright rude but just a weird response. And the food wasn't as good the second time we went either. The ONLY reason that this is getting TWO stars instead of ONE is because the genuine selection of authentic alcohol. We came here due to the ample parking and proximity to our destination. I had high hopes when I first walked in. HOWEVER... When my son (who was celebrating a birthday) said that the sushi was "meh" and that "it tastes regular and store-bought", my excitement faded. He sat there for a while waiting for his drink to be refilled, so the negative experience worsened after that. Mind you, the place was NOT packed and had ample servers putting out take out orders on the front table and returning to the kitchen. When his noodle order came out, THE WHOLE TABLE recognized it as TOP RAMEN--right down to the curvature of the packaged noodles. Basically, I feel like I ordered ramen with fixins' that any junior high school to college kid whips up in an attempt to fancy it up for fun. Also, the dish I ordered, that took 25 min to prepare, came out room temperature--so that got sent back as soon as we could find the server, with steaming hot rice. Come on, people. When the rice is hotter than the main--that's just plain sorry. The owners/managers were present and said/did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING nor did they even ACKNOWLEDGE that there was an error in service. Lacking customer service is one thing. Zero customer service, pride of ownership/management is a COMPLETELY different story. The OTHER reason for the additional star was because my husband said his dish order was abundant in soup, noodles, and beef. He enjoyed it very much, so... I can't bag on his experience. Two stars. One for alcohol. The other for the soup/noodle dish. Maximum. My advice--STAY AWAY unless you are there for the drinks and are just wanting to hang out in the patio area all night. I only have myself to blame. This place truly does suck. Their customer service is a big, fat zero. The food is only average on their very best day. My choices were limited today, so I was left with little choice but to order from this place. I placed my order at 5:58 pm. It was due to arrive at 7:00 pm. At 7:45 I called to simply inquire about my delivery time. I called eight times. Eight. Each time I called, the phone would ring twice, someone would pick up and immediately hang up. Eight times. I wasn't angry. I didn't call to yell. I simply had a question. However, now I am furious. I will NEVER give this place my business again and I will make it my mission to inform anyone who asks about my horrendous service. These people do not deserve any success whatsoever. read more

I ordered the Build Your Own Noodle Bowl. I had the red curry & coconut base, flat rice noodles with carrots/roasted eggplant/spinach and shrimp. Not as many shrimp as I would've liked, but it was a pretty good combo of all the things I love. Next time I would order extra shrimp to balance the dish out. The curry & coconut base gave it a really nice "sweet & spicy" kick. Nice portion sizes, I had enough to take home for later. I also ordered a spicy tuna roll & $5 martinis! So, my boyfriend and I went here on Tuesday night; around 9:15 so pretty close to closing. There were a few people in there, both at the bar and at the tables. The hostess was pleasant, and sat us fairly promptly. Our server took a little while coming to our table which I can't understand, there wasn't much going. His service was okay, he remained pleasant and checked on us an appropriate amount of times. However, the other staff appeared to be behaving inappropriately. I get having fun with your coworkers at the end of a shift, but they seemed scattered and disorganized..socializing a bit too much to still be at work. Our drinks took a long time to get to us, but I noticed the bartender chatting and laughing while not making our drinks. For sake of professionalism, patrons shouldn't see you having a blast as they wait for their drinks. The Pad Thai was really good. The avocado sushi was alright. The miso soup was good and hot. The drinks were strong and tasty. I wouldn't give it another try, but maybe it's not all bad as though there are some good reviews. read more

I got the vegetable tempura which I would not recommend at all. The veggies were thick and not done all the way. The sauce they give you is very small and bland. I also got the cheesecake which was still frozen inside. The crust was dense and grainy not tasty at all. The best thing about the order was the chocolate straw served on side of the cheesecake. We had the pleasure of being served by Brian and he did a phenomenal job of recommending food, assuring us that the sweet tea was AMAZING and being attentive to 5 hungry people who just didn't know what they wanted to eat! He never exhibited one ounce of impatience with us and he was kind to my grandson, which always makes a difference.
