I was very impressed with the phone conversation, and going over the details of my move. They answered questions really well, and sent over someone to do a free quote. Quote was fast, went very well. On the day of the big move, they were on time. Had all the equipment and tools necessary, along with their own truck. Movers were friendly, and really went out of their way to get the job done. We used Great Bay Relocation Services for our two recent movings. Because the new house was not ready, we had to move to a storage unit and out later. GBRS provided the best moving services that I ever had. The estimate was accurate and office lady was super nice. They also phoned to confirm two days before. The crew always arrived on time and are professional. Someone might say that these are what the moving companies should do, but anyone had dealt with moving companies before knows that it is not always the case. In today's move, GPRS did something that I considered exceptional. I was not aware that the community condo that I was moving into requires additional insurance (adding the community HOA to the list of insured), and what a surprise when we were told that the moving cannot go on when the truck arrived. The community office manager even said that it would take at least 24-48 hours to get the insurance ready in their past experience. You know that would be a disaster! GBRS stepped up and got the insurance paperwork emailed to the office manger in 5 minutes! We are so grateful that we chose the right moving company. You won't go wrong with them. Greater Bay Relocation Services (agent for North American Vanlines) rocks. I needed to move from the South Bay to San Francisco on very short notice (two bedroom apt, four days warning). I called on Wednesday, they did a walk through and written estimate on Thursday, the van showed up first thing Sunday morning. By 3pm that day everything was moved and nothing damaged. Even better, the final bill matched the estimate! These guys were like ninjas, I doubt my neighbors heard anything as I moved out Sunday morning. They protected the floors and walls and took extra precautions as necessary or requested. We used GBRS for 2 moves. The first was to move furniture, some of which was delicate and required packing, and other items down to Texas to our daughter's home in Jan 2014. That went very smoothly so we also used GBRS for our own subsequent move in Feb 2014 to San Jose from Tracy. The estimator made time to come out on the weekend and was very pleasant and efficient; he provided estimates for both moves that we considered very reasonable based on our experience with about 10 previous moves. Scheduling was very easy. On both moving days, the movers came on time and were highly professional and careful with our things. Enough movers were sent out both times to get the job done efficiently. The packers were excellent also. For the interstate move, the goods were delivered on time with no problems and nothing missing or broken. For the regional move, the movers arrived at our new place almost at the same time we did. Nothing was lost or broken including in our boxes of fine china/ornaments. All furniture was set down where we asked, efficiently. For both moves we paid the costs as estimated and not more. I highly recommend this family owned and run company and will use them again if the need arises. read more

Hired GBRS for a move from Walnut Creek to San Diego. Super guys and awesome job. No "bait and switch" tactics used here as used by some moving companies. IE Here's the price, then some movers when they show up, start hitting you with extra charges. The gal who gave the estimate was prompt and fully explained everything we needed to know. The politeness shown to me by the packers was beyond measure. They packed my parents' items with tremendous care. I expressed to them that I was nervous about the many antiques and fragile items being packed properly. To allay my fears, they asked me many times if I was happy with how they were doing. They truly wanted to please. I can honestly say I couldn't have packed my parents' items any better myself. We used Greater Bay back in February 2015 for our move from Mountain House to Manteca. There was some confusion at first on the quote (we asked for a few - us packing vs. them packing, moving just large furniture or everything, etc), but once the quote was figured out, everything ran very smoothly. There was plenty of follow-up, and the 3 guys that came out were quick. They completed the Friday job an hour early, and we had the refund by Monday (next business day as promised). I'm moving after 26 years in the same place... I have so much crap, and a broken foot, and there's no way I can do this. Since Greater Bay had such great reviews, I called to get pricing. They sent out Lauraine, and couldn't be happier with the customer service she's providing. I'm scheduled to move next Friday, and if the moving crew is half as knowledgeable and considerate as Lauraine, then everything is going to go off without a hitch. They're even moving my hot tub for me, and are as concerned about getting me the best pricing possible as I am. I honestly feel like an anvil has fallen off my chest, and with them moving the hot tub for me, the move is going to cost a couple hundred less than I was expecting. We used GBRS for a local move. The first thing that sold me was that Aaron came out to my home prior to giving us a quote to see exactly what we were moving. He then sent me a quote that was a "not to exceed" quote! GBRS was the only company to offer such a quote. We were sold. They when moving day came, the 3 guys came in and started hauling things. They were fast, efficient, professional and curious even in the 100 degree weather. We will use them again (not in the near future though). read more

I was as pleased as could be for a day spent moving. These guys knocked it out. I checked a bunch of other online listed companies that all had attractive low prices with Yelp warnings about bait and switch tactics, no-shows, and movers threatening to hold the customer's things if they didn't pay the price that was one and a half times the estimate. No thank you. Greater Bay came out, wrote an estimate and then completed the job at about 75% of their estimate. I called on Wednesday and they moved us on Friday. They gave an 8-9:00am start time and they were at my door step calling me at 8:00am sharp! The folks that moved us were a group of two families and old friends. They worked well as a team. Not on your life do you want to depend on these people! If they cannot keep an appointment for an estimate what makes you think they'll show on the day of the move. I flew up from SoCal for the appointment. They told me the afternoon the day before they had an "emergency office move" so they couldn't keep the two week old appointment. Their estimates are given by the truck driver and they needed him to drive. I even offered to pay for another driver. No accommodation made at all. Addendum:The owner of the company just called me to try to work something out, I had to tell him we already made other arrangements. Wish I'd spoke to him sooner. read more

If you think you are hiring North American Van Lines, think again. I got four companies to give me estimates for my move from Oakland to the Delta. I wanted a "big name" and some service, since my move was complicated. The sales person promised me the world....his estimate was not the cheapest, but he had given me all of those perks, right? Well, the guy who showed up was in a different truck than I had been promised (much smaller) and he had never spoken with the sales guy. He had no idea what had been promised to me, so had none of it. I called the sales guy, who was unavailable. You know what it is like on moving day, everything goes so fast and you are in some kind of shock....I muddled through and did not try to call him again. Anyway, my stuff was on a smaller truck, so what could he do? They could not get all of my stuff on the truck; I ended up hiring someone to quickly pick up what was left so the renters could move in. I was late getting the place cleaned up. NIGHTMARE MOVE!!!!!! For a big price....when I wanted to get service and was willing to pay. If I had called the guy they subcontracted the job to, would have paid less and would have talked to the guy who was actually going to show up on moving day. If you think you will get a North American Van line for a local move, think again. You will pay their prices, but get some local smaller company who will have no idea what you were told you would get. This company does not stand behind their promises. Oh, did I call them and tell them what I thought? Yep....they never followed up, but I did call. I asked them to pay the $350 I paid to have the rest of my stuff moved out and they asked for a receipt so they could "think about it." Lost the receipt in the stress of the chaotic cleanup, so forgot about it. I have moved all over the world, and this one goes down as the worst. read more

I hired Greater Bay Relocation Services one day before my move due to a disagreement with another moving company I had hired a month in advance. In short, Greater Bay Relocation Services was timely, professional, affordable, and extremely reliable in their unloading services from my Penske truck. They did the job in less time that I had anticipated and never stopped for a break (incredible). The staff I dealt with in Tracy, CA were incredibly nice, friendly, and professional. They charged me $60 an hour (unload only) for two men total with a minimum of 4 hours. There was a $25 fuel charge.They have my highest recommendation. read more

After moving 3 times in the past 5 years I had my experience with moving companies and their employees and let me tell you these people are the worst. I have no idea why they are getting 5 stars, but my experience with them was not so great. My husband, my son and I were moving from Tracy on a Saturday and Aaron's brother was assisting with the moving process. Well they showed up at my place 15 minutes late and the first thing their guys do is take a smoke break. As the guys are working I hear them talking on how they have a hang over from the night before and start moving slowly. They would bring one item out and then look at the back of the truck then another and look at the back of the truck. It got to the point that I jumped in to help move to get it going a little faster. After the truck was half way loaded they all stopped working and took a 10 minute smoke break and was talking to Aaron's brother who after all this time was still in the truck. (They weren't even at my place for 2 hours and they already took 2 breaks.) After we got the truck finally loaded I went inside to get the guys some thing to drink and came out and over heard one of them say I' m still on the clock. As we left Tracy and started out to Manteca I was following the driver at first and I saw them make a left turn on Banta Road and I was wondering where were they going, but I made the mistake and continued onto Hwy 5. Well they didn't show to my place as 15 minutes went by I called Aaron and asked him where did they go? He said that he will call me when he finds out. I started to get really scared because they had all of my stuff. They finally showed up 1 hour later. They damaged a lot of my stuff. My new bike had a lot of scratches in it, two of my lamps got broken, my table has a gouge on it, and I'm still running across more broken stuff. If anyone I care about asked me for a mover reference they would not be it. read more

Let me start by saying these guys were awesome! I was very apprehensive about hiring a moving company (you hear so many bad stories) and movers aren't cheap but let me tell you...GBRS was great and worth every penny! Aaron was very professional and spot on with the size truck we would need and about how long it would take when he came to do the free in-home estimate and the crew that showed up was very polite and professional as well. They asked lots of questions, pointed out existing damage and wrapped all the furniture so it was safe from damage during the move. They put everything right where we wanted it in the new house and even moved things when we decided we wanted it someplace else. I owe Greater Bay Relocation a profound apology for how late this review is. I may be late doing this, but Greater Bay deserves a great review. I had excellent pre-move packing of my very large kitchen with lots and lots of glassware plus 11 bookcases. Just a couple of days before moving day I had to ask them to include packing up the 3 car garage for me (including a complete shop) because I had been ill. A large crew with a box truck and a semi arrived on moving day. Part of the crew packed the garage while the rest packed the trucks with a 2-story 5BR/3BA house. This took basically all day on a Friday. They drove from Stockton to Cohassset (150 miles) on Saturday, going at the last up a curvy, steep hill that narrowed to barely two lanes. Because the semi truck couldn't make the sharp turns to get to my home, they had to use a staging area. The box truck of furniture was emptied first and then used to empty the semi and ferry primarily boxes to the house. Let me tell you, Jesus, his brother and the crew WORKED, at both ends, with only a couple of perfectly reasonable breaks each day. I believe there was a total of 10 people working. I had no breakage or damage. The entire crew was professional, careful, very fast, and fun! This was my 16th move and by far the best. The actual cost was within ~ $500 of the estimate, the additional amount being for the very last minute packing I requested. I definitely got my money's worth. I would highly recommend using this company. read more
